Are my photos on my iPad stored somewhere else, I'd like to clear up some space on my iPad 2

I need to clear up some space for a new upgrade, but my photos are taking up too much space. Are they also stored in iTunes?

Photos are not stored in iTunes.
If you use a computer to sync with your iPad, the photos in your camera roll on your iPad can easily be copied to the computer. Use what ever application you have on the computer for copying photos from a camera. When you start that application and connect your iPad to the computer the iPad will be recognized as a camera.

Sorry am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to all this. I just need to have them stored someplace and accessible to play when I need to. Thanks for your help.

  • Need help, Photo appear sync in itunes but there are no photos on my ipad 2

    Hi,
I need some advise, recently upgraded my itunes to iTunes 10 and at the same time I added new photos to my laptop( running on windows vista) pictures file.
I wanted to sync the photos from my laptop to my ipad, but in the end, on my itunes, it appear all photos are synced but on my ipad there are no photos at all.
Tried reinstalling iTunes, deleted the ipod photo cache and reset my ipad... and it still doesn't work!!
    Any one can help??
Appreciate if only can help with this issue....

Did you restore to factory settings?new iPod via iTunes on this computer?
What happens when you try to sync?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • How come Photostream uses 734Mb of my iPad storage space, when Photostream is disabled, and there are no photos on the iPad?

I recently disabled Photo-stream on all my iOS devices, because I import them manually anyway, and the logic in Photostream simply did not catch on with me.
On my iPad, no matter that I stopped any photos from syncing to it from iPhoto, and got a completely blank photos archive on the iPad, it still claims under "usage", that I use 111Mb on my Photo Library, and a whopping 737Mb on Photostream.
Since this iPad is completely photo-free, it is a great annoyance that it still reserves 848Mb of space for photos. My available space on the iPad is 1.2Gb, and I have trouble updating some apps because of the missing empty.
I don't want to delete apps, when there is actually enough space, but Apple simply wont let me administer my space. I tried swiping right over "Photostream" and choose "Delete", but nothing happens from this.
And BTW, I did disable Photostream from all my iOS devices, and my iMac.

I also have this exact same problem - 35 photos taking up 1.5gb!
seems like a strange coincidence... and no Matt - this is not the Photo Stream - that is 258mb
with only a 16gb phone this is a substantial chunk of my storage.
anyone have a real explanation for this??

  • Iphoto - how are the photo files managed and stored ?

I am one of those who migrated from the PC to this wonderfull world of the Mac. So please excuse my PC based way of thinking.
I have many thosands of photos, (aprx. 8,000 +++ )
I used to organized my photos on an external hard disk and and I would create folder that would hold a group of photos; for example (A folder labeled "Vacation on New York" will hold all the photos for that event)
Now on my iMac, I could import all the photos on that folder and create an event on iphoto called "Vacation on NY"
The only question I have is where do those file phisically go to?  Where are those  files with their names and extensions?  What folder or directory do they go to once I import them into iphoto?
I need to know this so that I could get a back up and know how to manage the files.
    Also...
I would like to know how can I close all events at once.
Thank you in advance for all the explanations......

The files are copied into the iPhoto Library which is in your Pictures Folder.
    Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
    Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
    By way of explanation:
The iPhoto Library  is a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. This is to protect the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
    Want to look inside?
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Standard Warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things,, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
To use an editor with iPhoto: You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
To use the files in other apps, upload them etc
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • COBRA Records stored on IT0212 or Retirement plans stored somewhere else?

    Good Morning!
Is there a way to manually write COBRA infotype 0212 records without using HRBENUSCOB03.
I want to use these infotypes to store data for our Early Retirement plans as well as COBRA, but I can't write to these infotypes without using that transaction, and obviously these employees are not COBRA eligible and are not coming up.
If I go to PA30 and try to manually create them, no plans are available because the Benefit area and plan type are blank and greyed out to where you can't change them.
We need a way to track our special retirement plans and payments in SAP after the employees are withdrawn. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
I plan on creating separate plans, but can't figure out where to store/track the data.
Thank you to everyone that took the time to read my post. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Thank you for your reply.
I have since found a manual way to enter IT0211 and IT0212 records using transaction code TPMD, even past the COBRA Eligibility period.
I am still trying to decide how to label the different types of types of participants:
    1. Plain COBRA participants
    2. COBRA Retirees
    3. Special Voluntary Retirement Program
So that I can define different rules for each.
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • My (shared) iMessages are taking up almost all my iPhone storage. Is there a way to remove them to clear up some space on my phone?

My (shared) iMessages are taking up almost all my iPhone storage. Is there a way to remove them to free up space on my phone?

Thx - the videos are on my Ipad - that is the problem - they are taking up all the storage and there is no room for anything else. Is there any place I can store them so that I can access them from time to time, but not have they use up all the space on the IPad? Sounds like the cloud is out...

  • Hi, I am deleting pics in iphoto. as they dont automatically go into wastebasket, where can i pick up the delteded photos to throw them ito the basket so that I can clear up some memory ?

I am deleting pics in iphoto. As they dont automatically go into the waste basket, where can I find the deleted pics and throw them into the waste basket ?

    fj:
With iPhoto make sure you are viewing your photo library with "Photos" selected in the side bar. This should show you all your photos.
Then you simply select the photo you want to trash and on your keyboard hit the "delete" button.
This will move the photo into the "Trash" folder.
Now change your view by selecting the trash can icon in the side bar. This will show you all the photos in the trash bin.
Now, go up to the iPhoto menu and choose "Empty iPhoto Trash"

  • Getting photos from my ipad back to my Mac that are NOT in camera roll.

Our hard drive failed and my back up files were corrupt so I lost my entire digital life including my iphotos.  I had set up my ipad to sync several folders from  iphoto to my ipad when I did an itunes sync.  All of these photos and folders  are currently viewable on my ipad.  When I plug the ipad in to sync, i can only transfer the photos that are currently in the camera roll (355 photos)  There are 5000 photos on the ipad via the folders I previously synced.
How do I get these photo back to my mac?  Is it even possible?
Image caputer doesn't work because it only looks at the photos in the camera roll (ie taken by the ipad).
To sum up:  Basically starting with a new mac and trying to get photos from the ipad back on the mac.
    Thank You!

If you have iPhoto on your iPad, you can save the photos back to the camera roll: you can select complete albums or events at once to do that.
Save photos to the Camera Roll on your iOS device
Tap a photo, album, or event and tap > Camera Roll.
Tap Selected, or change the photos you want to save:
Select different photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap up to 100 photos, and tap Next.
Select a range of photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
    Tap Done.
To use your photo in another app, open the app and select the Camera Roll album.
For other sharing options from iPhoto see:  Ways to share photos
But a third-party app, like Terence Devlin suggested wll probably quicker and safer, since you have 5000 photos to transfer.
my back up files were corrupt
Have you tried data recovery software on your backup drive? Software like
    Disk Drill: http://www.cleverfiles.com/
might still be able to restore jpeg files at least.

  • Why are my photos arranged differently on my ipad to my computer

why are the photos on my ipad album in a different order to that on my computer?

What version of iOS is your iPad on ? From here :
If you are not using iPhoto or Aperture on Mac OS X, and if your device is using the latest software, it sorts photos in ascending order by the Date Modified.
iOS 4 sorts photos by the Date Taken tag of the photos. iOS 3.1.3 and earlier sort photos alphanumerically by the photos' file names.
So if you want them in a different order, depending upon your iOS version you will either need to modify the 'date modified', 'date taken' or their filenames

  • How can I restore my photos if the iPad and my lap top back up have been erased to correct a problem?

How can I retrieve my photos if my iPad was scrubbed to correct a sign-on problem? The "genius" at the Apple Store suggested I erase my back up as well as my iPad apps to avoid a repeat of the problem. He DID NOT tell me all of my photos would be erased along with the apps I'd downloaded!
    Help, please!

If you didn't have the photos stored somewhere else, then they are gone. A 'backup' is not and should never be considered long term storage. Photos should be extracted to a computer on a regular basis as you would with any other digital camera, and the computer should be backed up as well.

  • If I delete photos on my iPad will I also delete them from my mac book pro

If I delete photos on my iPad will that  also delete them from my mac book pro. I want to create more storage on my iPad but don't want to loose the pictures permanently.  They are also on my laptop.  They are all in iPhoto plus they are in photos on my iPad

It depends on where you delete them from, where they are showing on your Mac, and what settings you have set up in iPhoto.
If you want to keep your photos, you should be importing them to your Mac or Computer:
    PHOTO IMPORT IOS TO MAC/PC
If you delete photos from your device that are only showing in Photo Stream on your Mac, and you do not have Photo Stream set up to automatically import those photos to iPhoto, they will be deleted.
You can set up Photo Stream photos to automatically import by opening iPhoto and clicking on Preferences>Photo Stream, and turning Automatic Import on. This will import your Photo Stream photos. However, if you also have photos saved on your device that are not in the Photo Stream, then the only way you can ensure that they are saved in iPhoto is by importing them.

  • Are i-photo books stored to be reordered??

I backed up all my pictures from iphoto to a hard drive and deleted the originals(the whole entire iphoto library).now the hard drive is lost.i regulary made photobooks on iphoto.are they stored somewhere to be re-ordered?this might be my last chance to recover pictures.....?

For future books you might consider creating a separate library just for the book.  It's easy to move albums of photos between libraries with  iPhoto Library Manager.  Then when the book is completed and ordered you can store the book library package on an EHD or a CD/DVD for use at a later date if another copy of the book is needed.

  • If I delete purchased movies from my ipad to make room for new movies, will they be permanently lost or stored somewhere?

Problem:  I don't have enough storage to download new movies.  If I delete purchased movies from my ipad to make room for new content, will they be lost or stored somewhere?

It depends upon what country that you are in (it's not possible to re-download films in all countries), the film studio (some don't allow re-downloading), and whether they remain in the store (studios occasionally remove them from the store) - what you can currently re-download will show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your iPad.
But you are better off first copying them to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take you own backup copy of them before deleting them, rather than relying on being able to redownload them in the future (and the same applies to other downloaded content)
