Hi ,
I want to know are are oracle 10.1 and 10.2 different products or different versions?

Hi user
I want to know are are oracle 10.1 and 10.2 different products or different versions? We are talking about oracle 10g database? If yes than 10.1 is Oracle 10g Release 1 and 10.2 is Oracle 10g Release2, Thats mean they are same product but different release
Hope it helps

  • Are the FW 800 and 400 on different buses?

On the MBP are the firewire 400 and 800 ports on different buses or do they share one? So if I have an external drive in my 800 port and a camera in the 400 port are they separate or should I buy a firewire expansion expresscard? Thanx!

ok, i think we may be talking about different busses here... the firewire controller resides on the PCI buss.
the PCI buss (usually) has 133 MB/s bandwidth. (someone please confirm... not sure if 33bit, 64bit, and what clock frequency this is)
FW 400 is less than 30 MB/s in practice.
FW 800 is less than 70 MB/s in practice.
even if both "firewire busses" are running at their theoretic maximum data rates, they will not saturate the PCI buss bandwidth.
i do believe that there must be some advantage to using an adapter card, 1, because it would allow a dedicated buss and there must be some processing overhead with operating the devices on the same PCI buss and 2, because it would be on a PCI-e channel versus PCI, however, I don't think that the performance difference will be significant (versus cost and convenience of not having to deal with a card / ease of connections, battery life, etc...) and with anything related to bandwidth, there is no good and better... it either works for your requirements or it doesn't. you need upstream data from an audio device and downstream to a hard drive? figure out the channel count / KBps and determine if you come at all close to the limitation of the exisitng FW buss speeds.

  • How are Hot Spot Compilers and VMs of different vendors fit together?

I read that the Hot Spot technology is splitted up into a Hot Spot compiler and a Hot Spot VM. Since maybe the ISV uses another Hot Spot Compiler (maybe IBM on Windows) to compile and the user drives that app on another Hot Spot VM (maybe Novell on Netware), I am wondering how this fits together?
Do some compiler/VM couples make problem? Do some combinations produce higher performance or smaller memory load than others?
    Any comments welcome! :-)

You compiled the same application using jikes and the
sun javac and then ran it on the the same jvm (and
version) and got a 10% improvement using the jikes
binary?Yes, but this was more than a year ago. I used javac from Sun 1.3 in comparison with the latest jikes from IBM. Both binaries I started on a Sun 1.3 VM and the jikes code performed UP TO 10% for SOME CASEs. It was a micro benachmark, so I could imagine that jikes optimized some code sequences out of the code, whereas javac did not. Anyway, micro benchmarks are not totally exact and one should do an application benchmarking with the latest compilers from both companies.

  • Export and import between different versions

    Hi everyone,
I have some databases in Oracle 7.2, and others in 9i Release 2. Sometimes we have to do exports and imports between them, and I want to know if running the catexp.sql or the catext7.sql file also applies to 9iR2 version.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tania L.

According to what I have heard yes but I have not tested.

  • Primary and DG in different version

Hi i want to try to use 10g primary with 11g stanby.
    In doc i read :
The following conditions must be met before you can use the broker:
    ■ The primary and standby databases must be using the same version of Oracle
Database 11g and each can be installed in either a single-instance or multi-instance
    environment.
If do not use dg broker, can i use this configuration live the same compatibile parameter?
    tnx.

You can, but only with a Logical standby for the purposes of a rolling upgrade. But to get there the standby must first be created in a 10.2 home, converted to a Logical standby and then upgraded to 11g. See the manual at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28294/rollup.htm#BABGHIGF, the MAA paper at http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/availability/maa/maa_wp_11g_upgrades_made_easy.pdf and Notes "785347.1 Mixed Oracle Version support with Data Guard Redo Transport Services" and "300479.1 Rolling Upgrades with Logical Standby".

  • Are Oracle Java Serlet and JSP samples working in Oracle9i?

Oracle web site provides many good Servlet and JSP samples. All
the instructions talk about Oracle8i. Does anybody know for sure
they are working under Oracle9i or not?
    Thanks!
    H.

OTN has sample applications that demonstrate a range of JSP techniques, from basic to advanced. OTN provides two versions of the samples: one version is built to the Servlet 2.0 specification and runs under Oracle9iAS-JServ or JDeveloper, the other verion is built to the Servlet 2.2 specification and runs under the Oracle Servlet Engine (OSE) built into the Oracle8i database or the mod_ose module of Oracle9iAS.

  • How are the Apps Store and iTunes store different? Which do you use for what?

Can you explain the difference between Apps Store and iTunes store? Is Apps a subset of iTunes store? To which store do you go for what?

Apps you buy from the Mac App store can be used on your computer.  You use the same Apple ID as the iTunes Store, but that's the only connection.
Apps you buy from the iTunes App Store are written to run on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch).  They won't run on your computer, only on your iDevice.

  • How are Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Adobe Lightrom different

    Hi,
I found two products as "ADOBE PHOTOSHOP LIGHTROOM" and other one says "ADOBE LIGHTROOM".
Below is the snapshot as well which is getting me confused.
    Appreciate the help!!!
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    -Pinaki

Quote "No-one but Adobe understands why Adobe insists on referring to Lightroom as both Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom."
Up to a few months before Lightroom was released in the market and still in "Beta" mode the decision was made to change the name from "Adobe Lightroom" to "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom". This was a poor decision on Adobe's part and has led to confusion to what Lightroom is as a product.
Lightroom is in effect an alternative to "Bridge and the Adobe Camera Raw Plugin" that is available for the use in Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements.
Lightroom is not Photoshop and the inclusion of the name only causes confusion.

  • Why are the printed image and its borders different than specified on Aperture's Print window

    Hi,
I am trying to print an 11.98x17.97 image on a 13x19 sheet. I specify .51" borders top and bottom, and .52" right and left.
    Instead, I am getting a 7.5x10.75" printed image with L 1 1/8" + R 7 1/8" borders and T 1/8" + B 5 3/8" borders. In short, a smaller image, shoved up and left on the sheet. Please see screen shot below.
Same happened when I tried to print a 4x6 image on an 8.5x11 sheet, until I was told by Kirby to enter the sheet size as a standard 'letter size' sheet instead of entering a custom 8.5x11" size. Is this the same? If so, what's the 'standard' size for 13"x19"?
Something is going over my head here . HELP!
    RAPHAEL

For the Epson 3880, I use the Paper Size "Super A3 / B 13 x 19 in (Manual — Rear)" when using Epson's 13x19" Hot Press or Cold Press paper.
That's from my response to you on November 16th.  .
That should allow you to print as you want.  I have a hunch about what might be happening with your current print setting, but I want to check it before speculating aloud.

  • Web Service  implementation and consumer in different version

Currently we have a Web Service which is written in J2EE 5 and this web service are consumed by Web Application written in 1.4
We are using SOAP for connection and JAXB API for parsing. We could like to know if there is any issue which could arise because of the difference in the version of the JDK used by the consumer?
Assuming that there is a reverse communication happening between J2EE 1.4 and J2EE 5 what are the issue which could arise?
Edited by: Sanu Sasidharan on Apr 11, 2011 5:31 AM

If understand the question correctly, the versions of Java used by the server & client are irrelevant.
A Web service can be consumed even by apps written in another language (C++, for example). The only requirement is that the client send requests to the correct address, and that requests be valid according to whatever XML schema the service uses.

  • BPC client and server in different versions

    Hi all,
Is it possible to have BPC 7.0 as server and BPC 7.5 as client? Is it compatible?
    Thanks,
    Thiago.

    Hi Perin,
sorry but the answer is no. You must have not only the same version but also the same sp or when you try connect you will receive an error.

  • Multiple Oracle Clients on Same Machine for different apps

I was not able to find info that answered this so sorry if I missed something that explains this.
At our site we have many applications some I know lots about some I'm not even aware of because we have mulitple sites. The application I develop uses an Oracle 8.1.7 database. In the next year we are going to be upgrading to a 9i database. The app I program for is written in VB and uses 0040 with the 7.3.4 version. We want to upgrade our client to the latest version to use all the features of the 9i database when that times comes. Can we have our 9i client on the same machine that may have other apps that require the 8i client or even the 7.3.4 client without breaking them? The other apps may or may not use 0040. Some of these apps are Oracle Forms applications and some can be anything under the sun.
I still need to do testing to see what breaks but thought someone may already have the answers some of my ?'s Any tips or info you can provide would be great.
    Thanks

    Two possible answers
    1) Oracle added multi-home support to the Oracle client in 8i (may have been 8.0, I'm really not sure). This allows you to set up multiple 8i and above clients on a single machine in different Oracle Homes and should solve the majority of your problems. Having a 7.3.4 client installed wouldn't be supported, but 8i clients should have no difficulty connecting to a 7.3.4 database.
When Oracle added multi-home support, not all the Oracle client products were made multi-home compatible. The ODBC driver, for example, wasn't multi-home compatible until significantly later patchsets. I belive that OO4O has been multi-home compatible since the client has been, though.
    2) From a technical standpoint, you should be able to have a 7.3.4 client alongside 8i and above clients. In my experience, this works, but isn't something that Oracle supports.

  • Need help recreating this in Oracle (Temporary Table and a Cursor)

    Hey all,
My client has asked me to see if it's possible to move his SQL Queries into Oracle, and then move EVERYTHING off of MSSQL into this new oracle environment. The problem is, I wrote the entire MSSQL system, and i know nothing about Oracle.
Basically, I need some examples. I have been stumbling around Oracle for about a year now, so i'm 'somewhat' familiar with it.
Basically, i'm going to create a script/stored procedure that will first:
Create and define a temporary table that is used when the script/proc is called.
Then, thru cursors, i'm going to add a bunch of lines to it.
Finally, i'm going to Run a select statement against the temporary table we created.
Now, I can't create a table on the server, as the production environment will not allow it, so i need to be able to create this virtually inside the script, and then it automatically self destructs at the end of the script.
If anyone knows if this is possible, please post me a few links to examples, or just lay down the code to get the temprary table made.
We're using TOAD as the interface.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Thank you for the warm welcome.
The SQL looks something like this:
(Before you get lost in the code, this is an abreviation of the code, but every function is represented. This will also work in TOAD Script? I'm most worried about the use of how a Table is declared in Oracle, as i've seen many different versions of how to do this. Thanks)
