Are pages worth it ?

I currently have a iPhone 4 and use a windows laptop and docs to go to sync some documents - word, excel and pdf - between my iPhone4 and laptop.
Having just bought a iMac and office for iMac I wonder if iwork are the way to go forward and sync my documents with the iCloud?
I use the cloud for my contacts and my wife and I share our calendars and reminders with each other over our seperate iCloud accounts.
But do the above documents sync between the iMac and the iPhone using iCloud?
If so do they sync very well ? Or is it a faff on to get them transferred ?

I was playing around with the document and editing it on both my iPhone and iPad to make sure they both syncd over iCloud - which they did perfectly - so yes it has been edited on 2 ios5 devices.
The document was originally created on my Mac (Lion 10.7.2) using Numbers 09 and I uploaded to iCloud to be accessed by the iphone 4s and ipad 2.
All other aspects of iCloud are working absolutley fine my only issue is not being able to download from it. Out of interest which is the default folder iCloud would download to, is it Documents or Download? I have checked all my folders after previously assuming the document had downloaded but can't find it anywhere. The original document is there but no revision (again I have checked this by going through the versions)

I found "Determine Fields for Business Card on Area Page" in customizing and added new field, but it doesn't show in ESS portal service.
Does anyone have any advice what I need to do to make it work?

Bizcards is only customizable via IMG as of EHP3
Lower releases might require additonal steps/modifications
For EHP3 you need to ensure you are using EHP3 software components and have EHP3 business
function switched on (be careful though switching on this function is only reversal via restore to point in time
before switching it on) - also check note 1159911 if you have switched this one and/or see no fields
Worth also trying the following
Check V_T7XSSPERBIZFLD for existing fields and positions
Add supplementary fields and position numbers to V_T7XSSPERBIZFLD
OR
Check V_T7XSSPERBIZFLD for existing fields and positions
Overwrite required positions and fields in V_T7XSSPERBIZFLC

Alternatives to content area pages? URGENT!!

Hi...
I am implementing a site in Portal with a static navbar on the
left side with links to folders... this navbar will remain
static, the content that changes is in the rigth side..
If I make a new page from scratch, including the navbar and the
content area as portlets, when I click on a link on the left,
the page banner and the other portlets disappear, and appears
the content area page..... I read that the only way you can keep
that page appearance is to customize the content area page
itself.
Are there any other ways to do this? (not depending of the
content area page??)
Please, I need help ASAP!!

Not in the current release. The next release of Portal, planned
for early 2002, will make this a lot easier.

Replace Applications BPS by WD ABAP in the Area Page of Career and Job ESS

Dear Experts.
We are implementing ESS with BP 1.41 and we have the following issue.
The standard ESS package only provides steps to setup the original BSPs for the services of the Area Page Career and Job :
· Candidate Profile
· Data Overview
· Profile Release
· Apply directly
· Search for jobs
· Favorites
· Applications
· Personal settings
I want that this services call the EHP4 E-recruitment WDA applications.
SAP says that may be possible adapting the ESS role to include these applications.
What are the steps what I Sould do for include this service WD ABAP for the Area of Career and Job?

ESS iViews HTML Long text description area page

I want to make an HTML for the long text description for an area page.... But how to make it Multi languague? I mean, I attach trhe HTML to the Area Page, and the HTML its on the KM defined by a resource. But this HTML have only one languague... Do I have to do it in Javascript and get the browser locale and transalte the text on the HTML?
could be another way?

Hi Vivek..
Go to Content admin -> KM Content -> Documents.
Upload ur HTML file here ... in any folder... Open Documents -> Public Documents
then Go to Folder-> New Upload and UPload the document.
Now to get URL of the Document..
From the context menu of the document uploaded, go to Details ->Settings -> Properties
Choose access links -> copy WebDav URL

simple way, create a static HTML page with your company logo (or empty page) and upload to KM, assign it to existing Home role as a KM document iview that loads first.(make entry point - yes).
assign the role to everyone group with property -sort priority 10 for role (low compared to all other roles)

Multiple Languages for Area pages, subarea pages, links, etc

Is there a language setting that can be used to display the configured text on the area pages, subarea pages, links, etc in different languages or do I have to configure multiple language versions of my areas pages, subarea pages, links, etc?

As per my knowledge.
Area pages texts, Service Texts don't have Multiple Languages configurations option.
Based user logon language text will chnage dynamically.

Portlets on Content Area Page

We are currently using 3.0.8 and are trying to add a footer region to the content area page. So the page has a header in the top region, a navbar and folder portlet in the middle region, and a footer in the bottom region.
When we put the footer in the bottom region on the content area page, it does not show up. If we move it to the middle region directly below the folder portlet, it shows up fine.
Has anyone else seen this behavior, any workaround?

We tried creating a page with only the folder portlet on it for the content area and trying to put another portlet below it. This still gives the same behavior.
We also tried it in 3.0.9 and did not see the problem there.

IMG HPF Area Page Customizing not reflecting in Portal

Hi,
I'm near to smashing my keyboard, but before I do so, maybe someone is able to help me:
In IMG Homepage Framework I've got a custom Area Page which has a Headline Area Description and an Area Description Longtext. I need to change the contents of these two fields. If I change the Headline Area Description, it reflects in Portal right after relogging. If I change the Area Description Longtext it still shows the old Area Description in portal. This is not supposed to happen and it never happened before.
Backend System: NW 7.01 Stack 8 ECC 6.00 EHP4 SP36
Portal Server: NW 7.01 Stack 9, All respective XSS Java Components and Business Packages Updated to EHP equivalents
I direly hope this is not due to the difference in Stacks ( Backend 8 - Frontend 9 ).
Portal cache has been cleared and portal has been restartet, without any effect.
Any ideas?

I haven't used external entries. From the Document you provided however, I take it, if I used one, I could just override the "bugged" Long description with an html file.
UPDATE/EDIT: When I create a HTML File in KM Content and pack it into a Ressource for external Linking in the Area Page. It does reflect, but looks horrible. If I remove the external entry again and keep the description long field blank. The old text reappears in ESS...
I looked through all the relevant tables in SE11/SE16 the entries in IMG do reflect; just not in ESS.
Aside from this workaround. Any other ideas why my problem occurs?

I have a similar issue.
After updating Pages to 5.2, all Word export documents are 10 times the size they'd normally be.
A normal exported .DOC file that would have been under 200K, is now 1.7MB once exported. !!! ???
This is a major issue with Pages.

ESS custom icon for area page

I want to change the icon for Benefits area page in ESS.
I did a lot of research in the forums but couldnt find one which get me out of this.
1. I tried storing image in KM and referring through relative url. But it didnt work. I know this is reliable approach if resource' server definition dont have to change with every transport. But it didnt work. The url is pointing to pcui_gp~xssutils rather thank taking the path from irj.
2. I saw many threads asking to upload image to com.sap.portal.navigation.mimeservice app. But I dont think this will work after an upgrade.
3. I want to do it by uploading image through SE80 to MIME objects and use it in defining resource. But I dont know how resource' server definition should be and the directory and image should be specified in resource.
Please help me how can I do it through approaches 1 and 3.

Doubt with Workset and Area Page

Hi. I am configuring ESS for two country. For the Country A1 the company not want display the Area Page of Career and Job and for the country A2 they want display this Area of Page.
I modified the FM HRXSS_GET_MENUDATA and this work fine and not display the Area of Page . The problem is that Workset still appears.
I have only a role. If I delete the workset in the role, this is delete for the two country.
The Question is: Is necessary that I create tow roles for the country A1 and A2? Or Can I do this using a FM(Function module) for that the workset can be hided for the country A1 and not for the country A2?

Hi,
The way we handled is we created 2 roles one with the worksets that should be available for everyone and 2nd role having the workset which is supposed to be hidden based on the country.
And user Role merging concept, so unless 2 roles A1 and A2 are assigned the subtab will not be shown. And did enhancement to the FM HRXSS_GET_MENUDATA.
To solve the issue you need to manage the Portal Roles.

Calling Area Pages

         I have developed a WD4A application with 4 views. In the last view i have 2 URL elements that should be link back to the orginal Area Page ( for eg. Home Page ) while running in the Protal. Is there any way we can pass the URL of the Home Page ( Area Key ) to the URLUI Elements of the last view. Any examples would be very helpfull.

Thanks for your reply. The problem is with the authorisation profiles attached for my user in the back end. The roles were attached but not generated. It is giving some error while generation. So one problem is solved.
But somehow the "Benifits and payment" area is missing from the overview page, it is missing from the standard role as well my custom role. Everything seems to be correct in IMG, but still it is not reflecting.

Why I must click twice Back Link in TLN to get back to Area Page

Hi everyone, i need a little help about TLN. I'm developed webdynpro application and i have integrated it with ess. The problem is arise when I click Back link in top level navigation (TLN) from my iview (custom application). I need to click this link twice to get back to area page (actually just one click to go back to area page). How i handle this problem ? Thank you.

Exactly, so now you know why you have to click twice, right ? Well, why it has created two links there, that needs to be checked or thought over. Need some time for this.
I have a button in my iview (custom application), when i click this button, the page will be back to area page but Detailed Navigation will be display (i have setting this to be hide), why this happen ?
Sorry, didn't get your question. Do you mean to say that you want to hide the detailed navigation on the Area page. Is this Area Page a custom application ? What is the code written on the click of button ? Is the Area Page an iview within a page and then attached to role or workset or just an iview attached to role or workset ?
Have you changed the following property of iview or page (for Area Page) "Initial State of Navigation Panel" to closed ?
