Are phone numbers 10 digits or 11? Do I need to record a preceding 1 (when area code is diff than mine)?

When putting in new contacts, do I need to enter a "1" before the 10 digit phone number, or does iPhone know that a 1 needs to dialed before an area code?

No. Not in the US. I believe the last systems in the US that still require dialing a 1 are land lines, and I'm not even sure they "require" it any more. Lots of PBXs used in businesses still require them because no one has seen fit to update them.

My husband and I have separate phone numbers for our business but need to keep track of incoming and outgoing calls; however, by end of day many numbers have been automatically erased from our phone.  How can we find those deleted numbers?

I believe the total amount is 100 calls that will list.
    No way of changing that.

  • Why are phone numbers popping up in iCal as an event

Recently, both my wife and I, in each of our Calendar apps on our Mac, have seen an event show up that is just a phone number of someone in our contacts list. Neither of these events was added to the Calendar by us. Anybody know where that could be coming from?

Do you have your iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane set to import the Photo Stream photos?
If it is then each new set of Photo Stream photos will be imported into their own Event.
If it is then check the sort order in the Events mode to make sure the latest Events are displayed at the top, i.e. View ➙ Sort ➙ By Date ➙ Descending.

An iPod (and iPad) ony have a phone number for Messages (and FaceTime) if there is an iPhone with Messages/Facetime using the same ID for Messages and facetime.

  • HT3529 iMessage appearing in 2 different iPhones with distinct phone numbers but using same apple ID

I and my friend both use same apple ID. When someone sends me an iMessage to my iPhone, it goes to his iPhone with separate phone number also. When I send someone an iMessage from my iPhone, the message will appear as sent from his iPhone also. But the receiving person will get only one iMessage (from my number).
Both of us have ios 6 and separate phone numbers but same apple ID.
    How is this possible?
When I checked setting on iMessage on my phone, send and receive shows my phone number and email address only.
Has my iPhone been hacked by him?

Sorry for bugging cheonweb but I just want to be clarified:
    1) If the phone numbers are different but the Apple ID is same, he would still get iMessages sent from/to my Phone number?
    2) Why is it not vice versa? Why do I not get messages sent from/to his iPhone?

  • How do I get my phone numbers from my IPhone 4 to IPhone 4S

how do I get my phone numbers from my IPhone 4 to my new IPhone 4S?

Contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer, or over the air with an email account that supports it. Not a good idea to depend on an iPhone or any cell phone alone for contacts which can be lost or stolen or damaged beyond repair by being dropped, etc.
If you are syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer, you select the same under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.
If you are syncing contacts over the air with an email account that supports it, create the account with the Mail app on your new iPhone and turn Contacts on for over the air syncing with the account settings on the iPhone.
Contacts are included with the iPhone's backup. If your iPhone is being backed up with iTunes on your computer, the first time you connect a new iPhone to iTunes on a computer being synced with another iPhone, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or set up the new iPhone as a new iPhone.

  • Canadian online phone numbers

How do I recind the payment for unlimited world-wide phone calling feature when I cannot purchase an online Canadian phone number? The policy is redundant and quite unethical if you know that protocols exist concerning the non-existent policy of Canadian online phone numbers.

Actually it is not redundant nor unethical.
Skype users are able to call phone numbers without having an Online Number to receive calls from telephones.  Skype users can also purchase an Online Number to receive calls from telephones, and not keep Skype Credit on their account (or have a subscription) to call telephones.  One is not connected to the other.  Skype offers a 50% discount for an Online Number after you purchase a subscription for calling telephones, but the Online Number is optional with the subscriptions.  Many confuse this, but Skype is pretty clear on this (see the links for "Online number" and "Phones and mobiles" below). Skype is a worldwide service that people can use from any number of devices, and Skype has decided not to connect callers to emergency service numbers (911 in the USA and Canada, 999 in the UK, 000 in Australia, etc.).  Unless something changes - either Skype provides ways to reach those emergency service numbers, or the Canadian authorities make their regulations for issuing phone numbers mirror those in the USA and other countries - we're out of luck when it comes to having Canadian Online Numbers through Skype.
Should you decide to cancel your subscription, you can do that.  You can log into your Skype account through the Skype web site, select your subscription, and cancel it from there.  Or follow the instructions in http://support.skype.com and type in "cancel subscription" to see more details on how to do that.

  • Can Lync common area phone request device updates?

    Hi,
simple question: can a Lync Phone Edition device (LPE, Aries class, Polycom CX500 / CX600 etc.) request device updates, when the phone is hosting a common area phone contact object?
Fortunately I know the answer: it seems NOT, I see in the system settings that there is an error for the last device update request. However as soon as I login with a normal user account, the device update request status is 200, and the phone gets updated
under 5 minutes and reboots properly.
While I know the answer, I would like to get feedback from MS: is this a design defect of the product, a bug in the way common area phone contact object authenticates on the Lync webservices or something else? Other peoples experience is more than welcome!

    Hi,

  • No long distance dialing for common area phones

What's the best method step by step of limiting common area phones to local dialing only and blocking long distance?

The step by step would be to create a voice policy, pstn usage, and route with those restrictions, then assign it to the common area phones.  Then, assign the voice policy to the phones and test.  What you're attempting to do is actually quite
    common.
I made a handy tool to assign policies to common area phones if it helps:

  • Launching WorkFlow when are executing ImportManagerBatch

    Hello together!
I am trying to use the ImportManagerBatch to load date into repository and apply launching WorkFlow automatically.
My WorkFlow set Trigger Actions = Record Import .
When are executing MDM Import Manager function, I assign my WorkFlow in Dialog window, and Import Manager and WorkFlow works fine.
In the ImportManagerBatch .ini file no options for setting my WorkFlowName.
Does anybody have an idea how to resolve this problem?
Thank you very much for your help!

    Hi Alexsey
This setting is saved in the Import Manager maps. If you use maps saved with a workflow assigned in the Import Manager Batch, it should work fine.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks

  • Last 7 digits of contact phone numbers confuse Synegy?

Hi -- I have posted a more detailed description of the issue (including how I came across this issue) at:
    http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pre/213995-weird-sms-addressing-feature.html
    Basically, my issue is this:
Background:  All phone numbers in my contacts list are 10 digit U.S. numbers with (ABC) DEF-GHIJ format.  99% of my Synergy contacts are from Google with just 10 or so of 700+ coming from my company's Exchange.  To my knowledge, I currently DO NOT have multiple contacts with the same last 7 digits DEF-GHIJ, but during my personal testing for this issue, I did create a dummy contact record (see below)
    Issue(s):
    *  Let's say I have a contact record for my wife which has her mobile # as 617-DEF-GHIJ.  If I begin a new SMS (using phone # to address the SMS rather than her name) to XYZ-DEF-GHIJ, where XYZ is ANY random 3 digits....555, 567, 345, etc... then the contact field will update to populate with my wife's name after I move the cursor focus to the SMS body text.  I have not actually tried to complete an outbound text this way, but I believe the text would actually be sent to the XYZ... area code and not actually to my wife's 617 mobile # (I assume this based on the phone call analog below)
    *  Same issue with phone # dialing:  I dial XYZ-DEF-GHIJ instead of my wife's 617-DEF-GHIJ.  On pressing send, the phone connection screen show's my wife's contact name and her contact photo (along with the incorrect XYZ phone number).  However, the call is routed to the incorrect phone #.
    *  Finally, I added a test contact "Joe Test" with a phone number of 555-DEF-GHIJ.  In doing so, Synergy immediately linked the new Joe Test contact as second profile under my wife's contact record.  It also changed her name in my SMS history to now reflect Joe Test rather than my wife's name...  I didn't realize this happened until I saw that Joe Test had sent an SMS asking me to bring home some milk.  I then unlinked the Joe Test profile from her contact record.  (leaving him in my contact list as his own separate contact entry).  However, even when unlinked from her profile and with not exactly the same phone #, her full SMS history still indicated Joe Test and not my wife's name.  Only after I deleted the Joe Test record from my contact list was my wife's photo and name correctly re-attached to her SMS history (this might have only happened after she sent me a new SMS message and not immediately).
Clearly, this was some intentionally implemented feature to support 7-digit dialing or the synergy contact linking gone awry.  Also, clearly it's not likely to greatly impact a lot of people, since a user must have two contacts with the same 7-digit phone number (within a 10 digit phone record entry) to really be impacted.  However, it seems to be a significant enough problem that it should be addressed in a future update.
Please advise if my issue report is unclear or cannot be repeated at Palm.  I don't have access to another WebOS device yet, but I am nearly certain that this is not an issue solely related to my Pre.  I'm happy to help debug if you cannot repeat the issue.
    best,
    John Greenaway
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Still there, and definitely a bug
Presumably as part of the Synergy implementation, the Prē apparently considers any telephone number string, including multiple numbers associated with the same contact, ending in the same last seven digits to be the same.
Unfortunately, this is not as unlikely as the original poster supposes: even discounting the "birthday paradox", reuse of PINs--especially of six or more digits, followed typically by '#'--makes the problem especially obnoxious for multiple, personal voicemail numbers embedded in a single contact entry: all but the first is hidden, except when editing the contact.
The only workaround seems to be to pad with trailing, timed delays ('t'), so that the comparison will fail: since the telephone app permits "dialing through" a delay, it doesn't interfere with use of a service, but is highly counterintuitive!

  • Does it matter if you are sharing one email account with two phone numbers

I am trying to facetime with my wife. We share the same email. but have two different phone numbers. on her end it says she is unavailable for facetime. Any help would be great. Thanks.

The 'extension' cords are all compatible with all of the power bricks for Apple portables (PowerBooks, MacBooks, MacBook Pros, etc.). I also have several from many generations (back to early PowerBooks) and I use them all interchangeably with current adapters (in various rooms at home, at work, etc.).
(As a side note, they are not compatible with the iPod power bricks, but that's not relevant for you.)
