Are "Previous Systems" files important or can they be deleted?

There is a file in my the hard Drive of the MacBook entitled "Previous Systems.localized" which is taking up 9.72GB of space. Is this important or can I delete it to create space on the start up disk?

Did you recently do an 'Archive and Install'? If so, that file may be leftover from your previous system. If things are working smoothly after a week or so I'd go ahead and delete the entire prev. system.

What are these DR$TEMP % tables and can they be deleted?

We are generating PL/SQL using ODMr and then periodically running the model in batch mode. Out of 26,542 objects in the DMUSER1 schema, 25,574 are DR$TEMP% tables. Should the process be cleaning itself up or is this supposed to be a manual process? Is the cleanup documented somewhere?

The only DR$ tables/indexes built are the ones generated by the Build,Apply and Test Activities. I confirmed that they are deleted in ODMr 10.2.0.3. As I noted earlier, there was a bug in ODMr 10.2.0.2 which would lead to leakage when deleting Activities. You will have DR$ table around for existing Activities, so do not delete these without validating they are no longer part of an existing Activity.
You can track down the DR$ objects associated to an Activity by viewing the text step in the activity and finding the table generated for the text data. This table will have a text index created on it. The name of that text index is used as a base name for several tables which Oracle text utilizes.
Again, all of these are deleted when you delete an Activity with ODMr 10.2.0.3.

HT4878 Where are these "local snapshots" housed and can they be deleted.

My wife is showing 239GB of local backups so it seems that the "compression" of these may not be happening. It would be nice to have the ability to "configure" the local backup frequency.
Having the "advanced" ability to configure Time Machine to take backups when we want would be a great addition as my wife plugs her external in every night. The periodic backup once a day in the middle of the day would be nice as well but seeing as Time Machine is now defaulting to backing up every 10-15 minutes I can see why she suddenly has ~240GB of backups.

Getting Iphoto files out of Previous System file

I upgraded to Leopard using the Archive choice. My iphoto and iweb files are in the Previous System file under User and won't load when I load the programs. How do I get them to load. How much free disk space do I need on my HD

You're going to have to change the permissions on that path to get access to the files there.
You can do this using the Get Info Window, just make yourself the owner of the folders in turn. When you get to your Home Folder, drag the foldes you want to the desktop. When you've that done post back and we can get you the rest of the way there.

I type Sandi Patty. It changes it to Sandi patty. (Little "p") There are some pics in there correctly capitalized and some that aren't. So, I deleted all the faces with incorrect spelling hoping to clear the system of that name completely. Didn't work. As you type Sandi, all the choices, including the one with error in capitalization show up. I type it CORRECTY -- Sandi Patty -- I click on another face and the Sandi Patty becomes Sandy patty. (Little P) There are other names in the list that were the result of bad spelling. Can these NOT be deleted??

If you are now in the US then you can only use the US store, so you should update the address on your account
Changing country : Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account.
Had you copied the songs over to your computer's iTunes library, do they show in the Music section on it ? You can copy purchases that you still have on your iPad over to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option

Previous system file

Since installing Tiger, I note that a "Previous System" file has appeared. Do I need this? Also, do I need OS9 file? Not sure if I'm operating any programs with OS9. It was on this iMac when I purchased it new.

Previous System folder is created during an Archive and Install. If you're certain you'll never need any of these files (thousands) you can delete it.
The same with OS 9.

If you open iWeb does it open to your website or to a blank site? If the former you can upload this as descibed in my page. If the latter you will have to start over from scratch. You won't gain any space until you empty the trash, and that may take quite a long time. The last time I did it, I deleted one top-level folder at a time, then emptied the trash, to reduce the impact. Several of those sub-folders took quite a while.

If you want to change your iCloud ID or password on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated information. Note: this only deletes the account and any synced data from your phone, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts it will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.

Did you use the Migration Assistant to help set up the new iMac using some of the files in the older PC? Some likely won't mean much, unless you have applications that can use or convert them. There's also a way to use the software Time Machine to import data files from an external or another computer, so you may have used that, too.
Hopefully someone with experience in a similar issue will reply...

I just got a new Imac, and downloaded files from my old PC. Now, when I go to Finder, I have 1500 files in an area called developer. What is this, and can they be deleted? There are also 78 files listed as Other! Most of these files I do not recognize.

Can't delete Previous System File

Hi,
I did an archive and install and was left with a Previous System folder that is about 13G. I used "whatsize" app to move it to the trash where I then did a Secure empty trash. Trash can is empty, but when I run Whatsize again, the same previous system folder is still there, taking up 13G's of hard drive space. Any idea how to get rid of this file?

Files in the /users/unison/db/tmp directory - can they be deleted?

In the /users/unison/db/tmp directory, there are hundreds of files in there
called vista.log and unitmp.ndx, that have been accumulating there for many days
and is filling up the file system. Can they be removed?

These files are there because the database writes in this temporary space while
the server is up and running. They should be getting deleted automatically when
the server is shutdown, but if they do not then try the following procedure:

1.Stop the server. 
2.Move the files that are in the tmp directory to a new temp directory.
(e.g. tmp2) 
3.Resart the server. 
4.Monitor the activity. 
5.If all works well - remove the temp2 directory.
