Are shared catalogs (server) now supported in LR2

We have been sharing catalogs in an office with LR 1 but the process is manual--copy to server so other users copy back to local machines--and we were under the impression that version 2 would support one catalog shared by several users. Is that correct?

Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Why is this setup now blocked by Apple? Cannot download purchased music.

Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Each of us is using an own individual iPhone, which we frequently update with our iTunes Accounts. We have had this setup for years. It was convenient, reliable and user friendly, since we both could download what we wanted, create playlists, etc. without impact on the other. Exactly this convenience has made me and my wife real Apple fans, so that we also wanted to convince our daughter to move from Android and PC to our easier Apple setup.
Since a few weeks, this setup does not work anymore. From Apple Support (online chat on Apple.at) I was not told that this is not supported any more. Every computer is only allowed to be connected to one iTunes account. From one perspective (sharing music across other users as an act or media piracy, etc.) I can somehow understand this. However, since we are using different user accounts on this computer, I do not have access to other user´s iTunes media and could not play, download or copy it. So what is the point in this?
This now means, that my wife and I are only allowed to download individually purchased music with our personal iTunes accounts only with an interval of 90 days, so every on of us 2 times a year!
Was I incorrectly informed by the Apple support? If so, how can I solve the problem? Or is this really a new policy by Apple? If so, what is the reason? Am I expected to purchase a Mac for my wife, my daughter, myslef and for the three smaller kids to follow soon?

Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes.

A Global Catalog Server could not be located - All GC's are down SBS 2011

I have been searching through these forums and manage to find similar errors but am struggling to find an answer that applies to this me.
I seem to be having a number of issues with our SBS. I believe this was originally domain was previously on a SBS 2003 box before being moved to this SBS 2011 box last year, it has been running fine until yesterday. I cant see anything that has changed then
though.
Everything seems to point to DNS although I am struggling to pinpoint the actual cause. The most worrying is when I try to open something on the SBS such as AD sites and services.

I found a few people who have had similar issues that was caused by the "netlogon" service being paused or stopped but in my case it is set to automatically start and is running.
I have also posted this to serverfault (cant post links yet serverfault.com/questions/522691/a-global-catalog-server-could-not-be-located-all-gcs-are-down) added as there may be info there that may help.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, hopefully someone out there has come across this before or can offer something in regards to the next steps I should take.

Some troubleshooting ideas:
0. Check if the DCs can resolve each other using their DNSHostName. If not, this indicates some DNS misconfiguration
-- you need to fix that first.
1. Check if the both the DCs are pointing to the same DNS server (or DNS servers that are replica of each
other). Run: "ipconfig /all" and check its output. If not, correct the DNS client settings and run dcdiag after sometime.
2. Check if dynamic updates are "turned on" on the DNS server.
3. Try re-registering the DCs SRV records by either restarting netlogon service or by running the following
command:
nltest.exe /dsregdns

No shared catalog supported in Lightroom 3?

Hi,
I was using Lightroom 2 with a shared catalog on my mac. It was shared between me and my wife who login as different users. The catalog was simply put in directory where both users had full read & write access.
I tried the the same with Lightroom 3. The first user opens the catalog and everything is fine. The second user can open the catalog (when it is closed with the first user) but does not see any images unless I go to the develop module. Then the (individual) image appears normally.
It seems as if the second user cannot access the previews. Any idea?

I have the same problem - one catalogue, two user accounts (but only one using the machine at any one time). Permissions set to Read and Write for both people for the Catalogue & the Preview files, and for the folder in which they reside. Also the Backup folder is Read and Write for both people. This is on MacPro running Snow Leopard 10.6
The catalogue and previews were created in my account. I see all images as thumbnails and the Standard previews, and have no other problems using Lightroom 3
From my wife's computer account, in Library mode we see a correct list of all the image folders, with the correct number of images, but no thumbnails or standard previews can be seen. But if we go into Develop mode the correct image appears, and after exiting Develop that image is now displayed in Library mode.
Additionally, on exiting from my wife's account, if we specify that a Catalog Backup is to be made, Lightroom 3 starts the backup process until the progress bar reaches about 80% towards the right hand side and then it stalls. Eventually we made a Force Quit. But when we then switched to my account, Lightroom 3 could no longer load the catalogue that we had tried to load from my wife's account. Redirecting Lightroom 3t o the previous backup catalogue restored things for my account.
If the problem is a permissions one, are there other files that Lightroom uses ?
This was not a problem with Lightroom 2.7, but I did not try either of the Lightroom 3 Betas

What attributes are shared between a Radius Server and a WLC?

I have a customer who is trying to setup a Radius server to authenticate Management users for the controller,
she is using a Microsoft NPS R2 server. All good at this point.
She needs to know what attributes are shared between the server and the WLC to complete the authentication
because she is being successfully authenticated, but still unable to access the WLC.
Someone knows what those attributes are?
The only information at the moment that I found, was on a document that said that different management
users can receive different Vendor-specific Attributes. That means that the returned attributes to the WLC
will depend of what radius server model or platform you are using.

Your SQL Server 2012 is already at SP2 see version number 11.0.5058 this corresponds to SP2. So when you run the setup it says there is nothing to upgrade

Some troubleshooting ideas:
0. Check if the DCs can resolve each other using their DNSHostName. If not, this indicates some DNS misconfiguration
-- you need to fix that first.
1. Check if the both the DCs are pointing to the same DNS server (or DNS servers that are replica of each
other). Run: "ipconfig /all" and check its output. If not, correct the DNS client settings and run dcdiag after sometime.
2. Check if dynamic updates are "turned on" on the DNS server.
3. Try re-registering the DCs SRV records by either restarting netlogon service or by running the following
command:
     nltest.exe /dsregdns

Does OPC UA Shared Variable Server support Alarm&Event and historical access?

OPC UA Shared Variable Server is a sample code and resides at https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-25602
It seems to support DSC <-> OPC-UA tag synchronization.
But does it support alarm&event and historical access?
I tried to open it with LabVIEW 2012, but lots of VIs were missing in the code, and I am not familiar with DSC and OPC-UA.

From your post on the example itself, a colleague of mine responded with: "This uses the OPC UA server included in DSC 2011 SP1 which does not include direct support for Alarms and Events. However you could use this idea to synchronize to shared variables on a Windows host which could have those abilities enabled."
So it looks like it doesn't directly do this.

Now i am able to insert more than 60 char length in input ready query. by using below actions in web template:
I created on column in input ready query and named as "Comment" . I used this query in web template and created "Modifications" by using DocumentContent" Module in Analysis Web Item. by using this functionality it is allowing More than 60 char length in input ready query.
If you closely observed what i did is Created one Column in Input Ready Query which is Query specific. This column data will hold in Documents area Data Warehousing Workbench instead of Planning Cube.
To display comments i have created another BI query & used it in Web template , here issues is calling Comments into BI Reporting area ( which is not Input ready query).

How to check whether a SMTP server is supporting Authentication or not

We are using Java Mail API 1.3.1/1.3.2 to send the messages. some of the SMTP servers that we use are supporting authentication and some of them are not.
As the SMTPTransport.supportsAuthentication() is not available only in Java mail API 1.4.1, we are identifying the SMTP server whether it is supporting authentication or not in the following way.

As shown in above code, we are issuing 'ehlo localhost' command to SMTP server, if the response i. 'strBuilder' contains '250-AUTH' then we are assuming that it is supporting authentication.
But for one SMTP server the 'strBuilder' value is showing as '220 mail.durofelguera.com ESMTP Service (Lotus Domino Release 8.5.2) ready at Thu, 16 Feb 2012 13:57:20 +0100' only which is socket connection output but not 'ehlo localhost' command output.
where as the telnet test output is showing correct only as below

The question is why the 'strBuilder' is not showing 'ehlo localhost' conad output where as the telnet test results are showing correctly, what is going wrong here?
Is there any other way to check that whether SMTP server is supporting authentication or not?

There are so many things wrong with your code, it's hard to know where to start...
Basically, the problem is not as simple as you think it is.
For example, some servers might not allow authentication until you've issued
the STARTTLS command.
These days, essentially all servers allow authentication. You're probably better
off just assuming the server supports.

SQL Server 2012 support

Does anyone know of any official statements regarding the running of SharePoint Server 2007 over SQL Server 2012? Or if no official statements, has anyone tried it yet?
Actually, I have the same question with regard to Windows Server 2012, if anyone knows anything about SharePoint Server 2007 support for that as well.

I haven't heard of any news or information from Microsoft about plans for support of SQL Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 with SharePoint 2007, so the best source that I know to look at is their official TechNet documentation on software requirements for
the platform:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262485(v=office.12).aspx. That article states that it is supported on SQL Server versions 2000 through 2008 R2 and Windows Server versions 2003 through 2008 R2, as long as you keep SharePoint 2007 updated to
the proper service packs to support the given version (believe the R2 versions of the 2008 OS and Database engine both require at least SharePoint 2007 Service Pack 2).
There's not any information on the Service Pack 3 that indicates that it includes compatibility with the 2012 releases of Windows Server and SQL Server, so I don't think that's a possibility.
This is just my opinion, but I really don't think you're going to see compatibility with the 2012 releases happening for SharePoint 2007, for a couple of reasons. First, Microsoft's focus is on SharePoint 2010 and potential future releases for the SharePoint
platform. There are a lot of rumblings out there right now that vNext is rapidly approaching on the horizon, and in the past at times like this Microsoft has a track record of really not paying a whole lot of attention to vCurrent -1. The other reason is that
from a business standpoint Microsoft like to structure its software so that when a customer does an upgrade of one platform or system they often have to bring others along for the ride as well. In this case, if you want SharePoint 2007 to use those new OS
and SQL versions you're probably going to have to also upgrade SharePoint to 2010 to get it.
I know it can be frustrating, but that's how Microsoft approaches things and if we want to use their software those are the rules we have to abide by.

Urgent: Load balance the shared services server

Hello Experts,
One of my customer would like to know that is there a way to load balance the shared services server i.e., Register one essbase server with more than one Shared services server, so that if one shared services fails the other can authenticate the logins for the essbase server.

I would not attempt any changes until 9.3.1 service fix #16 is released.
Oracle is back-porting clusterware support to with service fix # 16.
HSS 9.3.1sf 16 "active passive failover cluster with Oracle Clusterware 11g, for hss web app and openldap"
Based on the Oracle escalated support resources I have been in touch with solutions are not supported. Please realize this is not load-balancing and is fail-over support only.
To my knowledge there is not a "active-active" 9.3.1 Shared Services that is supported by Oracle.
