Are the @ and " keys reversed on the Apple Keyboard? (UK)

I've bought myself a Retina MacBook Pro (my first Mac). I've used Windows desktops all my life and on the keyboards the @ key is two keys from the L and the " key is on the number two.
Seeing videos of Mac keyboards and pictures, it seems this is reversed. However I'm not sure if they were British keyboards or US keyboards.
Could someone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks!

According to this site: http://www.markinns.com/articles/full/apple_keyboards/ the only difference with Apple's US/UK keyboards is the placement and size of the Return key. The UK one is similar to the rest of the European ones, while the US one is smaller and fits on "one row". However, the placement of symbols are the same on both versions of the Apple keyboard.

My husband and I are divorcing and we have used his apple ID for our 2 apple tv's.  He changed his password and now I no longer have access to the 300 or more movies, tv shows and music.   He keeps telling me that , there is no way for us both to have it. So, since his Apple ID was the one programmed into our Apple TV's he has custody to everything.  I know there has to be a solution for this, because I can't be the be the only person this has ever happened too!

    Unfortunately the situation is thus...
Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

  • Are the apple wireless keyboards and mac book pro keyboards the same size?

Are the apple wireless keyboards and the mac book pro keyboards the same size? I have the most current wireless keyboard and I use it with my iPad. Thanks in advance

I took it to the same shop where i purchased they sent it to the apple
service centre and it is a week and no one informed me abt the problem
    or the action on it.
We are mainly just users to users here, and sometimes a Apple folk will respond, but it's just a direction to a Apple support document, no service or account issues are handled here.
Will they replace the mac book pro as it is still in warranty
We don't know what Apple will decide to do in your case, the best source of information is the shop you brought it to.
They might be in the process of fixing it, or they might be deciding they need to keep your machine for investigation.
Apple will take care of you, make sure you buy AppleCare and a external drive for TimeMachine if you haven't already.

Are the apple password and the itunes password the same?

I have a similar problem to StormRider08. In addition to my iMac (which I just set up with Mt. Lion) I got an iPad mini. Neither would let me use the same AppleID. My original ID shows up in the stores, but apparently cannot be used. And I cannot change it (at least I don't know how to).
    Can anyone help me?

  • Dvorak and the Apple Keyboard

Apple makes it easy to switch keyboard layouts, but not when it comes to the physical layout. 'Bout the only way to do that is by finding stickers with the letters and symbols on them to stick on the keys. And that's where I'm running into difficulties. Where do you find the **** things? I remember sheets of rub-on letters and symbols people like wargame designers would use for mock ups, but I haven't seen them around recently. Would anybody know what I'm talking about, and where I might find something like that?
Nothing like a keycap please. Such things are over produced and over priced. Not only that, for the Apple Keyboard they're also over sized. It gets confusing typing dvorak when the layout is qwerty.
    Thanks for listening.

Guess what I went and did? Had an idea and googled the phrase "keyboard stickers" Got pretty much the same results you two did.
The skins you found links to I aint gonna touch. I'm not about to pay $35.00 to fugly my keyboard. There are bonafide keyboard stickers out there however. I did find keyboard stickers at Amazon. I'll be checking out some of the local computer stores where I live to see if they have anything. to see if they have anything. My thanks for the assist.

  • What are the Apple Mail SPECIFICATIONS?

What are the Apple Mail 6.5 specifications on Mac with OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion)? For instance...
    How many mailboxes can handle?
How many messages in each mailbox?
Any size limit for each mailbox or the full set of mailboxes?
BTW, I think that such information was in
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25812
but the docs.info.apple.com site seems to have gone. Where are the Apple info documents now?
    Thanks.

There are no set specifications for these.  In general:
    * It can handle lots of mailboxes.  I'm sure thousands would be fine, though it would be a chore to manage.  With Spotlight, I think fewer mailboxes is better.  I have 10 mailboxes, with between 10,000 and 30,000 messages each.
    * It can easily handle many messages in a mailbox.  30,000 is easy, and it can probably do 100,000+
    * There are no size limits for the mailboxes.  Mostly disk space.
I'll note that Adam Engst had issues with an older version of Mail and 1 million messages:
    http://tidbits.com/article/12382
I bet it works better now, but I personally have 11 mailboxes and 114,306 messages in Mail at the moment and have noticed no slowdown in performance whatsoever.

Are the apple stores really open on Easter?
On the store web page it says:
    April 04, 2010:
    10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Apple is not giving their employees Easter off?

What's a day off? People get those?
Some Apple Retail Stores are open, some are closed. For example:

I recommend checking http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/ for Easter hours before heading to a particular store.

  • Installing a driver for the Apple Keyboard in Boot camp windows

I recently installed Boot Camp, VMware and Vista on my Mac so that I could move all of my computing on to one computer (I use a few programs that aren't available for the iMac). In Windows I cannot use the number pad for input - I can only use the numbers just above the letters. This is a major inconvenience because I input numbers often. I have tried to search for the driver for the Apple Keyboard that is compatible with windows, but have been unsuccessful.
Anyone know of a fix for this?
    Thanks!

I tried putting in the Leopard disk and running setup.exe and that went through the motions of installing all of the drivers, but after I restarted the windows machine it still doesn't recognize my keyboard. This may be a system wide issue, because when I work in Windows it also tells me that I do not have a camera installed for video chat. At first I thought this was just part of the price I had to pay to have a Mac and use windows on it, but now I'm thinking that my drivers were not installed properly because I know a camera is installed internally (obviously - its a less than one year old iMac all-in-one).
Can anyone think of something that I'm not doing? I have gone into the control panel in the Windows machine and tried to update my driver, but it keeps telling me that the driver is correct (it has windows driver for a standard ps/2 keyboard).

  • Any 'Power On' button for the Apple keyboard?

Any 'Power On' button for the Apple keyboard?
It is possible to boot the Mac G5 without pressing its rear power button? There is a handy 'Power On' button for the Apple Keyboard named 'i-Cue' (see below), but it no longer works with the newer Macs (G5 and Mactel).
A shame that Apple removed the power button of their keyboards years ago. So, what I am looking for is something similar to this, but working with the new Macs:
USB Boot Dongle (i-Cue) for Mac
Allows you to work with your G3 or G4 mini tower hidden out of the way
You can have your Mac under the desk, yet it can be easily turned on from the keyboard position. Simply clips on to the Apple Pro Keyboard
    Includes 1.8m pass-through USB cable.
    http://www.lindy.com/uk/productfolder/03/32/32871/index.php
    Thanks.

You can't do it via USB because USB doesn't provide that function. When the computer is off, there is no power on the USB, so nothing connected to the USB can do anything when the computer is off. Earlier Macs that had this function used a modified USB. Newer Macs use standards USB, probably starting with the introduction of USB 2.0 to the Mac.
Why not put the Mac to sleep, instead of shutting it down? The power consumption is about the same, and you can wake it from the keyboard.

  • '{' Key not working with Apple Keyboard in Windows & Visual Studio

    Good morning,
I've been bugged by this forever now and tried it with Windows XP, Vista and 7 now on my macPro & (the latest version of) Bootcamp: I can type the { and } brackets just fine in most windows apps (e.g. start > run etc), but in visual studio, for some reason the 'ctrl + alt + 7' (for the '{') does result in the whole line being commented with // instead of the expected opening '{'. 'ctrl + alt + 0' ('}') does however work just fine.
Now I am really not sure why this is happening, but it's the same for VS2008 and the VS2010 beta and developing in C# without a proper '{' combo is somewhat.. difficult
Has anyone ever come across the same behavior and knows what to do?
    Cheers and thanks,
    -J

  • Why are the Apple mods deleting and locking threads?

I would like an answer as to why the mods are deleting and locking threads that have to do with the error that pervasive in the iPod 1.1 upgrade. It seems that Apple will not acknowledge it but some of us are trying to find an answer and Apple locks the thread and deletes another one. As paying customers, Apple should realize that it is us who keeps the lights on in Cupertino. I think a bit more respect to the paying customer is in order here.

Just post your questions and replies in a calm and concise way Don and follow the guidelines within the Terms of Use;-):

Contrary to any belief you may have I can assure you that there are no attempts of covering up any alleged bugs in software or anything else in these fora.
Here's a reframe to your original question - The fact that the thread was locked means that the Hosts have seen the thread. It is reasonable therefore to conclude that they would have allerted the relevant people of the issue and referred them to that thread.

  • Where are the Apple guys???? :(

It seems that there are lot of people out here having essentially the same problem with their ipod mini:
    - Folder w/ exclamation point or Apple logo flashing
    - Computer can't detect device (whether through iTunes or MyComputer)
    - Device no longer charging through USB/Firewire because battery charge may be too low
    - Resetting, installing latest Updater, and restoring doesn't solve the problem
    - Replacement ipods are not working
For users who experience any of the first three items, your problem may be easily solved by the troubleshooting tips and solutions found on the Apple website: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/gethelp/ I suggest you go through all of the suggestions before going ballistic (haha). You can also browse other iPod forums on the net for tips and reassurances from users. Just be wary of panic-inducing claims like the iPod battery lasting only 18 months or less and then you have to buy a new iPod. (http://www.ipodbatteryfaq.com/#5)
But for us users whose problem doesn't seem to be solved by either restoring or getting a replacement, when will the Apple guys illuminate us on this? Don't they need to recall some products by this time? If anyone knows of a definitive Apple support webpage or forum thread that says anything about this, please post it here.

Just an update: I got my replacement iPod mini after three weeks and so far it's been working fine. I hope it keeps functioning long after the warranty expires.
