Are the CS5.5 tech specs too low?

Looking at the CS5.5 Design Premium tech specs (http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/design/tech-specs.html) I wonder how well the software would work if installed on such a computer. The new entry level quad-core i5 iMac for example has a lot higher spec than what Adobe says is required. Is it that Adobe lists the minimum required specs and that what could be achieved with the software on such a computer would be limited?
For example, CS5.5 programs support multithreading so there should be a significant difference between how the software performs on a quad-core computer compared with a Pentium 4 or even a dual-core processor. The other concern is that it is usual for designers to have multiple programs open at once, like Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash. Surely a higher spec computer is needed to be able to work productively.
Also, wouldn't a screen size of only 12000 x 800 (as listed) be too small to work productively in CS5.5? Programs like Photoshop have many windows that would more than fill such a small screen leaving only an impractical work area.
Is it fair to say in terms of productivity and what could be achieved with CS5.5, that a new i5 quad-core 21.5" iMac  (1920x1080) would be significantly better and preferred spec?

Yes, that would be fair. I use Windows most of the time and just built a new machine with an i7 processor and 16 gigs of RAM.

  • HT4589 What are the computer requirements or specs for Final Cut Pro

Even though it says 4 GB RAM recommended, I think most experience users woild say 8 GB and up is the real minimum.
    Can't answer the Avid question.

  • Where are the Knowledgebase/Adobe Tech Notes

This morning I went in search of some Adobe Tech Notes for Premiere Elements 7 and found what appears to be a "beta" version of what used to be a workable Knowledgebase.
Does anyone have any information as to whether these Adobe Tech Notes are still available or whether they have met the same fate as the Premiere Elements FAQs that Steve Grisetti was looking into in response to my recent topic/question on the latter?
Further, who is the force behind the changes encountered here...Adobe or top level users? If Adobe, then who can we contact to direct these nuisance problems. Any suggestions?

    SG,
Thanks for the feedback. That link that you posted was the one that I got lured into initially and that motivated me to post this topic in this forum.
I just tried a Google Search for the Premiere Elements 7 Adobe TechNote (Vista, Errors & Freezes) that I was looking for at the Adobe site and found it on the Internet. So, it still exists somewhere. Adobe apparently has not killed the Internet link to it yet.

Thanks for taking the time to response. Please continue to do what you can to preserve Premiere Elements resources such as FAQs and AdobeTech Notes.

  • I have a ringtone that works great on my computer but the volume is very soft on the phone.  I have adjusted the volume on the phone but the ringtone volume is still too low.  Is there any way to adjust the volume of a ringtone?

I have managed to sync a ringtone to my ne i phone 5C but the volume is way too soft.
The sound is great on my computer but hard to hear at all on the phone.  I have tried turning up the volume button on the phone but it doesn' do anything for the ringtone.  Any ideas on how to solve this problem.  The ringtone is "calypso blackberry" and I am not able to locate it in the Apple store ringtones.  This should be so simple and it is making me nuts.
    Help anyone please.
    Bob

So you use an RCA cable going into what before it hits the MBP?
EDIT: Also in System Preferences > Sound > Input > you can select the input & adjust the volume accordingly as long as it's plugged in.

  • The quality of images is too low, i read many articles it says" press ctrl+shift+a and thing will come better" it's true , but you should press it for every site you visit, i want a solution?

    am using
    HUAWEI Mobile Broadband
    Model E1550
    HSDPA USB Stick

Ctrl+Shift+R and Ctrl+Shift+A - seems to do the trick for me (ISP: Vodafone Romania).
However, when I phoned them in order for this "feature" to be removed, I was told to get my USB modem to one of their centers for a sofware update. No info on the website so far.

  • The Macbook Air is running on a 1.6Ghz processor speed, what are the side affects to this significantly low speed?

Why would one prefer the MBA over the Pro when, at the same price (Air at 11inch and Pro at 13inch), the Pro seems to excel?
What is more important? Flash storage or the hard drive storage? (yes I am hinting at the fact that Air has the flash and Pro has the hard drive) Say that I am using Macbook for daily usage, not much heavy lifting operations but would still like the opportunity to do something more than simple with my computer if necessary

This is an Apples/Oranges question.  The MBA is a easy to tote, on the go computer whereas the 13" MBP is more of a workhorse, but a relative heavyweight compared to the 2.5lb MBA.  And then there's the storage, 128GB verses 500 GB.  If you only will have one computer, I would say go with the MBP.  And with a bigger screen to boot.
That said, I am getting rid of my MBP and have switched to the 11" MBA.  I did get the 1.8Ghz upgrade along with the I7 upgrade. IMHO, with the SSD, my little MBA has some real "pop".
If you want my 11" MBA, you'll have to pry it out of my cold, dead fingers.
Disclaimer: I also have a home 21.5 iMac for the big home jobs.

  • What are the ideal specs for professional graphic designer using CS5 illustrator, photoshop and indesign?g

What are the ideal Mac Pro specs for a professional graphic designer using CS5 Premium- using mostly InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop?

    24GB RAM
    SSD for boot drive
GHz, but not necessarily dual. Apple doesn't sell dual 3.33s.
A single 3.33 6-core should do fine and "sweet spot" (when looking, there is "4-core" build to order..,. and like everything else on the Store, why in heavens they didn't be more accurate and clear and say "single socket" and then have "dual processor configurations" 0 I guess the writers don't understand or know workstations or jargon? I say that 'cause some have trouble even finding the 6-core 3.33 choice ($1200 over stock 2.8 4-core).
W3680 though can be found on Buy.com for $620 (was $589 at earlier date) and people are known to then sell the stock cpu $300 making it even more attractive and save $600-900 that way rather easily. Or not.
But yes, I would send you to MPG.com site as well and read through what is on there.

  • The sound volume in the videoproject is too low

    Hallo,
In Adobe Premiere Elements I3 made several projects. I used the tool Normalisation for the audio in a clip. Untill now this was functioning well. But at the present time I have a problem. Likely I have made a mistake with one of the settings. But I don't know which mistake.
After the Normalisation of the sound in the clip the graphic rendition in the picture in the track Comment is as it should be.
But the real sound is now too low. In the sound mixer I can see that the level of the sound doesn't come higher than -12 where it should actually be 0.
I must have changed an overall setting somewhere with the result that the sound actually is too low.
My question is: how can I restore the old situation where the sound volume was correct?
    Thank you in advance.
    Greetings,
    Hans van den Heuvel

    Hans van den Heuvel
My first impression of what you describe is this...
    1. If you were making audio adjustments with Clip Gain dialog, what happens if you bring up
the Clip Gain dialog and change the value there from -12 to 0.0 dB for the audio clips whose values
have gone from 0 to -12?
    More later.

  • Price too low - Invoice is not blocked...

    Dear,
Probably you all know that invoices can be automatically blocked for payment based on the tolerances set up in customizing. When the price is too high, the system acts like expected, but when the price is too low, we don't get the preferred result. You get a warning message, but no payment block. It would be nice if the invoices with a "price too low" are blocked too.
We don't like to park them, because we work with a scanning procedure, so all invoices have to be posted immediately in the finance department, otherwhise it's very difficult to follow - up...
The purchasing and stock department are solving all the issues (qty and price differences) based on the list in MRBR. If the invoices with incorrect contracts are not in the list, this can give some problems. I've asked the finance people to block the invoices with a lower price manually, but for them this way of working is a little bit annoying...
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Is there a BADI or user exit (or customizing parameter)?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind Regards,
    Lien

    Please note the following:
The system will check the lower tolerance limit but an invoice will
never be blocked if the LOWER limit is exceeded. The system will only
display a warning message. In the standard system invoices will only be
blocked if the UPPER limit is exceeded because normally one wants to
prevent to pay more than expected.
In SAP Library: MM-Invoice with Variances-Tolerances you will also
    find the following explanation:
".. If the variance is outside the tolerance limit, the system displays
this in a warning message. If you do not adjust your entries, you can
still post the invoice. If, however, the upper tolerance limit is
exceeded, the system automatically blocks the invoice for payment."
If this is an issue, message M8084 and M8085 can be customized as
error messages, as a work around. Please transaction OMRM
(spro -> materials management -> logistics invoice verification ->
Define attributes of system messages here you can set message 084 to
    error)
You may also want to see the user exit exit_saplkont_002,
    enhancement MM08R002 for blocking.
I hope this information will answer your query.

  • Volume too low on Lumias

I previuosly owned a Lumia 800 and now a Lumia 920, and both have exactly the same problem...the earphone volume is just too low. Things are fine of you are hearing in a quiet room, but if you are walking or jogging in the street, the music volume at 30\30 is too low.
Nokia should get an iphone or ipod and compare, Hard too see how Nokia can sell itself as a music platform, yet produce sub par music devices.
I'm angry because of this. The Lumia 920 is an expensive device. Switching back to the iphone...

I love the Lumia 920 and the Windows 8 OS. I started off with the iphone, then to android, and now to windows 8 phone. However, there are certain things that should be left up to the consumer to control. Not everyone is the same, your hearing may be more sensative than another person. Since this is a Nokia issue, the volume should have been left to a volume level that will please everyone. I like listening to music loud especially when I am cutting my grass. It is annoying using a weed trimmer and I can hardly hear the music cause it is too low even though I have it at the max setting. The exteranl speaker is the same issue. 10/10 is rediculous. Everyone is always trying to control the way others do things and say things, express themselves, etc. It needs to be adressed and included in the next update.

  • Error: "Numeric value entered was too low " -drill down discoverer report

    Hi ,
We have created a Discoverer drill down report (drill down to another worksheet). We have two worksheets one for the master and and the other for the detail. The parameters are passed to detail sheet (The link information is set using the Manage links option in the Discoverer plus) from the master. This whole thing works fine in dev instance.
We imported the business area . Deleted the existing file and the opened the new .dis file from local computer and then saved it to db.
Now the master report runs fine and when we click on the drill down link for the detail we get the following error
An error occured while handling the event.See the application log for more details.
    - The numerical value entered was too low."
However the link works fine in plus and desktop in the same instance.
    Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    Shobana

I hope you're not using Internet Explorer v7.
It has a specific problem with Disco Viewer, is not certified to work with it, and the error is drilling in Viewer.
The Oracle bug (metalink) is: 5608740
This bug prevents the listing of drill items under the drill icon.

  • Background volume too low even when turned up to 200%

I'm just making my first film with iMovie '08. I can't seem to get the volume of an audio clip to play louder. I purchased a specific song on iTunes. I then brought it into my movie as background music. I've turned up the volume to 200% and reduced all of the audio clips to 15%. This is driving me crazy! Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? The background audio is just too low and I can't seem to increase it.
    Thanks for your help.

When you play music from iTunes can you play it at full volulme? If so, it is not the MBP it is either something to do with the MP4 player (what are you using for that) or the conversion.

  • Mini DisplayPort TOO LOW!!!!

Seriously? This major design flaw is making me so angry...
    Check it out;
    http://i36.tinypic.com/1zguolh.jpg
I bought a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. I tried to put it in the back of my iMac but noticed after a lot of frustration that the whole port bay is too low. All the USB ports are ok (still fits the USB) but the Mini DisplayPort won't fit the cable!!!!
Please tell me there is some DIY fix for this because I JUST got my iMac back from repair (hard drive was failing) and do not feel for another 1 week repair. I do not have the time and patience for it.

There is no probable fix you can do yourself. It appears that the technician put it back together wrong. They need to make it right.
