Are the new displays for MacBooks only - Options for a Mac Pro User?

I am currently running 23 inch displays in our small design studio (4 workstations). I need a new or a second display for my own Mac Pro. I hate the new 24 inch display. I cannot imagine running Final Cut Studio on this glossy screen. So is anyone else out there in this situation? Looking for other choices? I want to stay in the Apple line up if possible but now I am even looking at Dells, as I feel Apple will only continue with the glossy screens.
Are any pro-users in video or photography using the new 24 inch displays? and I mean users who do this for a living. Thanks everyone?

Hello!
Sorry it took a while to notice your post. There are two options for your mac pro to use the new 24 inch cinema display. The ATI Radeon 4870 HD has the mini-display port on it, and the Nvidia GT120 also is an option. Personally, I'd go with the 4870 as its a much better graphics card.
You can find them on the Apple store's site under DISPLAYS/Graphics
Hope this helps.
Now, just to clear something up. If you have a 2008 mac pro, you can run the GT120 if you prefer.

iCloud should still help you reduce some hard drive space. Just select "optimize" in the icloud tab in Mac Photo App preferences.
Granted, not the same as completely offloading your library to a back-up drive at your location.
    Good Luck!

    Hi joannep59572680,
The terms haven't changed recently. ExportPDF subscriptions renew annually, unless your turn off Auto Renewal before your renewal date.

  • What are the new features for the latest version ...

what are the new features for the latest version of N6300? can you cite me the newest features?

The latest update was just bug fixes and improved stability, no new features. That is nearly always the case with series 40 phones like the 6300.

  • Anyone having trouble with the new update for 2010 mac book air 10.8.2?

Anyone having trouble with the new update for 2010 mac book air 10.8.2 ? My 2010 Macbook Air has crashed 15times since the 10.8.2 update. Have only once since owning it.

Turned out the hardware was bad.  Apple exchanged it for a new Mac Air and the new trackpad works great.  Thank goodness it was a defect.  If the trackpads all worked like that I would have been bummed.

You will need to boot from some alternate boot device to accomplish this, if you did not initialize the drive before installing it.
If you have another Mac, you may be able to use FireWire target disk mode.
If your MacBook has a DVD reader and you have a Mac OS X Installer/Utilities DVD, such as the one that shipped with it, you can boot from that DVD, answer only the "what Language" question, and wait a quarter minute for the MenuBar to be drawn. Then examine the Utilities menu or the Installer menu and Find Disk Utility.

please help me ,i forgot the synchronising password for my mac pro lion backup disk

If the backup volume is encrypted, and you forgot the password, then you'll have to erase the volume and start a new backup. There's no way to recover the password.

  • What are the system requirements for Final Cut Pro 7?

I can't find the system requirements for Final Cut Pro 7, I can find the system requirements for X, but like I said not 7.
I need to know the system requirements for Final Cut Pro 7, so I can buy the correct Macbook.
Is there anyway I can find out the system requirements.

    Thanks
I'm somewhat inept about things like this, so I just want to make sure once more: This is in regards to Final Cut Pro 7?

  • New HD for a Mac Pro

This is my first time buying an internal hard drive so i want to make sure I buy a good one. The one I'm looking at right now is the Seagate Barracuda XT ST32000641AS 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive. Will this work with an 8 Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro G5 (early 2009 I believe)? Also I'll probably get 2 if I buy this HD, if that makes any difference.

    Hi Manged,
The early 2009 Mac Pros have Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processors, and, as Clio 1 has already advised you, G5s are not Mac Pros.
Mac Pros were first released in 2006, and have always had Intel processors, whereas their predecessors were Power Macs which had PowerPC G5 processors.
There were no 8-Core Power Macs, and so it would seem that you have an early 2009 8-Core Nehalem Mac Pro.
You can confirm what model you have by clicking on About This Mac/More Info, and then looking at Model Identifier under the Hardware Overview heading. If MacPro4,1 is listed, then you have an early 2009 Nehalem Mac Pro.
Very few Mac Pro users would recommend Seagate drives. Western Digital and Hitachi are regarded as being better and more reliable.
The Western Digital Caviar Black is an excellent choice, and is probably the HDD which is most often recommended on these Mac pro pages
    http://macperformanceguide.com/Storage-Drive-WesternDigital-CaviarBlack-2TB.html
The above link is a bit out of date, and this is the manufacturer's current website page for its Caviar Black Range:
    http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=100
You have stated that you want to make sure that you buy a good drive. So my advice, is to disregard the Seagate Barracuda, and buy Western Digital instead.
Buy the WD Caviar Black, unless you intend to set up a RAID configuration with these drives, in which case the more expensive RE4 Enterprise is a better option.
If you do intend to set up a RAID, one very important consideration is that all the drives in the configuration should be identical.

    Bill

  • What are the new gestures for touch screens?

According to the help file with the Windows 10 Technical Preview for Enterprise build 9879 the same gestures that work on Windows 8.1 are supposed to work on Windows 10.
I cannot get swiping down from the top of the screen or the bottom of the screen to function in Modern apps. It worked fine on the same computer (Dell Venue 11 Pro Core-i5) in Windows 8.1. The touch screen works for other gestures such as swiping in from
the left or right, selecting, etc.
So to close an app, I can no longer swipe down from the top. I have to tap the X in the upper corner, or bring up the new switcher and  close it from there. It's also difficult to bring up the additional menus in Modern apps. For instance, the Mail
app has menu options to move a message to a folder. I used to be able to swipe up from the bottom to bring up the menu items. Now I have to try to tap the ... in the lower right corner. On a smaller display, this is difficult.
I also noticed that ALL apps run on the desktop now. When launching a Modern app such as the included Mail app or the Facebook app from the store, they run on the desktop in a windowed mode with the taskbar visible. You can maximize them, but they are just
full screen windows on the desktop. They don't run in full screen mode like in Windows 8.
Windows 10 was supposed to add back features from Windows 7 to make it easier to navigate with a keyboard and mouse while retaining the existing Windows 8 functionality for touch screen devices like tablets. The current build is much harder to use on a tablet
    than Windows 8.

The latest update was just bug fixes and improved stability, no new features. That is nearly always the case with series 40 phones like the 6300.

  • What are the new defaults for JavaScript?

Quote: "Enable JavaScript" preference checkbox has been removed and user-set values will be reset to the default
That is a very vague statement. The checkbox has been removed, but
    (1) What are the "values" which are now the defaults?
    (2) Where do I find them in about:config?
    (3) Has this change affected the NoScript extension?
If the devs cannot think of anything better to do than to fix features that are not broken, then they should be fixing the known bugs and investigating the reported ones.

@jscher200: Why is my bullshift meter reading 99%?
Whether JavaScript was enabled was not a problem. It was enabled by default and anyone who disabled it should have had no problem finding it again. The three actions which were blocked unless the user also enabled them respectively were what mattered. Cor-El's answer does not give enough info as to how to prevent those "features" of JavaScript from being used.
For what it is worth, I'm not looking forward to another change:
"Simplified interface for notifications of plugin installation"
My guess is that whoever decided to "simplify" the interface sacrificed security for convenience -- as if the Internet is safer now than it was when that interface was created. If that interface was too complicated for you -- or just too slow for your Red Bull brain -- then you have neither the wit nor the wisdom to be using the Internet, regardless of the "simplicity" of the browser.

  • I downloaded the new Firefox for my Mac and it won't open. I deleted the old version. What am I doing wrong?

I can't get firefox to open now that I erased the old version and tried to install the new version (6.0.2) on my Mac. I was hoping I could update it and have my bookmarks and everything intact, but when I drag the firefox symbol into my dock it won't do anything after downloading. I have put it in the trash to delete it and re-downloaded it, but nothing seems to help. On top of it, the fan on my computer goes on when I am trying to get firefox to work ????
    Thanks!

    Hi,
as I’m using a Mac so I have download the file with .dmg extension, which is the one that currently doesn’t work.
I also tried to download the .exe one, but as expected when I double click on it, I have an error message that confirmed Windows is not supported.

  • What are the authorization requirements for an EDI communication user?

I'm trying to find documentation describing the authorization objects required for an EDI communication user to have appropriate RFC access.

Take a look in the FAQ thread at the top of the (security) forum...
Is there something in addition to the standard documentation which you would like to know?
    Cheers,
