Are there addresses for Web Gallery photos?

So, I assume that when you make a web gallery, the photos are being uploaded to your iDisk space. Is there a direct address to link to so they can be HTML'd?

Chris:
Open one of the web galleries in iPhoto and look at the top of the window. There will be a url link you can either copy or use to visit the online gallery. If you click on the Tell a Friend button an email will be created with the link in it also.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Specific order for web gallery photos

I am publishing a web gallery (newbie) and the photos need to be in a certain order-its a wedding album. How do I get them in the correct order. I put them in order in iphoto, but when the gallery publishes, they are random. Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you put them in order after creating the gallery in iPhoto and before publishing? All of my online galleries have the same order that are in the iPhoto galleries. You can change the order after publishing and then hit the publish button to reorganize the online gallery.

  • Low quality web gallery photos??

I have used the web gallery feature successfully for smaller albums of around 30 pictures. The quality of the photos stayed high in these cases(1.2 MB).
But I tried to load an album of much larger size (171) and the quality of the photos was reduced dramatically (256 kb a photo). Is there a size limit for web gallery?
Is there a setting I need to change?

    emh14:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It seems that the larger the number of uploads for a single gallery the more jpg compression is applied to the files. Apple may be doing that in order to facilitate faster uploads on those larger galleries and, as AC mentioned, keep the servers as fast as possible. I don't know of any number limit as I've always keep mine low, like 45-50, per gallery.
You might ask ask Apple via this page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • Changing default jpeg compression for Web Gallery files

I have created several web galleries from both Raw and Jpeg files with Iphoto '08 that suffer from serious jpeg compression artifacts. I haven't found any way to change the compression amount to reduce the artifacts. Is there actually a way?

    papasteveo:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is no way in iPhoto for the user to manage the jpg compression of the web gallery photos. If the option for visitors to download the photos is selected the copy that's uploaded is compressed approximately equivalent to an Photoshop quality setting of 8 or 9 out of 12. The pixel dimensions are the same as the original unless the max dimension in the original exceeds 3054. The the file is resized to 3054 max dimension.
If the gallery is just for viewing the image is resized to 800 x 600 with additional compression.
You could manually replace the file with one that you've prepared but it would be very tedious as each file has it's own folder and the file name is changed to web.jpg (viewing only) or large.jpg (download). You would have to rename each file to be uploaded to the new name and make sure it's placed in the correct folder.

  • Web Gallery Photo size

How do you set the size ie Small, Medium or Large when uploading to Web Gallery? I see only the quality settings of Optimized and Actual Size. When emailing photos a window appears to set size how do I enter this feature for Web Gallery? Obviously I am missing something as the Apple help pages indicate this is achievable.

    Gordon:
I see what you're referring to. However that paragraph describes the various situations that resizing photos can be done. The following paragraphs describe the amount of resizing for each of those functions. The paragraph for "Printing and albums published to your Web Gallery" it mentions only Optimized and Actual/Full Size.
The paragraph for "Email or view-only website" referS to using them in iWeb I believe, not a web gallery.

  • Configure Logical Address for Web Applications-Hyperion 11.1.2

    Hello,
I have f5 load balancer infront of two foundation servers and I have not yet configured the Logical address for web applications with Loadbalancer DNS name/hostnmae. I can access all of web applications through Load Balanced URL. Do I Still need to configure Logical Web Address for web applications ?
    Thank you so much !

To add to this part of the reason for load balancing is usually to support high availability (in addition to scalability). Without that logic address being setup you will find certain configuration items are pointed to one server or another and if that one server is brought down it impacts key functionality of the whole environment.
You should consider a test of the infrastructure by purposely bringing down services and/or servers to ensure you still have a fully working environment with the other redundant components. This test may take half a day to several days to really go through a full regression test of key features while taking key pieces down.

  • PSE 8 some photos will not autoimport when creating an photobook and block the whole sequence. Are there knows reasons why individual photos can hang the import? Thanks Michael

When creating photobooks with PSE 8 I find occasionally that certain photos block the autoimport function and none of the sequence are loaded into the new photobook. Using the identical setting to create a photobook other sequences of photos work perfectly. The photos have been checked and found and all are connected and recognised. Are there knows issues with some photo formats which will not autoimport when creating a photobook?
    Thanks for the help.

Sometimes LR can be "nudged" into showing folder relationships which better match the file system, by using the "show parent folder" command. When existing folders appear as if they were "top level" in the drive, we can see a more or less virtual picture of the situation, rather than anything real. So newly added folders can sometimes present themselves as if independent of what is already there.
By forcing LR to show a fuller hierarchy of folders, more attention gets paid to the actual arrangement - so new and existing folders should "wake up" and thereafter appear more reliably in the right relationships.

  • Does LR automatically convert to sRGB for web gallery?

Searched and searched, but can't find this anywhere! I have AdobeRGB PSDs and camera RAW files, that I develop in LR and then export for web. Does LR default to a conversion to sRGB? I can't find a tick-box for this. All web images seem to get tagged sRGB, but I'm not sure whether this is a genuine colour space conversion, or merely a re-tagging.
Is this stated anywhere, or are we all working on assumptions? Thanks as always for any help.

You select the color space in the Export settings to HDD, etc...under File Settings you have Image Format and Color Space to select.
If you are referring to the Publish settings for Facebook/Flickr, then Lr does default to sRGB for web.
If you are referring to the Web Gallery setup in Lr, Lr defaults to sRGB.

The compression is reducing the number of pixels being shown in order to maintain the bitrate. So rapid motion, which requires nearly all of the pixels to be redrawn, causes things to stutter.
Compression is really, really hard to do. Really.

If you are seldom in a Wi-Fi Network Area, then you can turn off Wi-Fi until you knowingly are in such a Network Area.  You can go through your Applications where you don't really need to know the instant an Update is available and turn off the push update notifications.  You can turn down the screen brightness.  You can set the sleep cycle to 1-min.  You could set your email to check for new messages every 30-min. rather than less than 1 min.  Just some of many steps available.

  • Are there updates for photoshop elements 2.0 for Windows 7?

I want use my photoshop elements 2.0 on my Window
s 7 computer.  Are there updates for version 2.0?

No updates for pse 2, but pse 2 should run fine on windows 7.
(pse 2 came out long before windows 7, but runs better on vista and 7
than any recent versions of elements, go figure)
    Install as an administrator.
The only exception to this is if your hard drive is bigger than 1tb,
then pse 2 probably won't work unless your version of windows 7
can use the virtual xp mode.

  • Adjust Photo Size For Web Gallery

I'm uploading a new Web Gallery as I type this....(although nothing appears to be happening at the moment...I decided against my first couple of efforts and deleted those galleries).
I don't see a way to adjust the size of the photos uploaded to the Web Gallery. As each of the photos I'm uploading is approximately 3MB in size, I was hoping there might be an option to compress each of the photos prior to uploading. Am I missing it?
In iPhoto Help, there's a topic for "Choosing the Appropriate Size For Your Photo". Apparently, this only refers to emailed photos, though?
    Any thoughts on this?

    Mike:
Have you checked on the size of the files uploaded to the web gallery? They are resized to 800 x 600 pixels. If you select the option to have the full sized image downloaded then the max pixel dimension is 3054 pixels in any direction. If the are larger than than the get resized. Additionally the file is compressed. My 2.7 MB file was downsized to 750 KB.
