Are there any billing benefits to have a family shared line?

Are there any billing benefits to have a family shared line?  Currently I have a family shared 700 minutes w/ 500 texts. Would it be just as cheap to have to separate lines? I am asking this because I have my bro on my plan and am asking if it is saving me any money . Also why do I have to keep dialing *228 to decent internet connection on my phone. so any time I go anywhere i need to dial x228 to get 3g?

I only get 15% Access Discount & 20% Feature Discount on my line. Which comes out to -$15
I do not get any employee discount on the second line.
so $60-9+29-6=74 for one line not sure about the second line pricing...
Hi jackscagnetti, and thanks to our forum members for the great input on this monthly pricing question.
Using the numbers included on your post it seems like you have a 69.99 calling plan and a $29.99 data plan. Please see break down of fees below and difference between family share plan and individual calling plans.
Current family share plan:

Good catch! Yes there was a time when many companies and other organizations did that sort of thing. Now not so much.
Intel still sponsors clubs see http://www.computerclubhouse.org.
You might also check around, there might be after school programs, sometimes the YMCA or Boys & Girls Clubs have programs.

  • Are there any PC cards which have sample and hold capability

Are there any PC A/D cards which have sample and hold capabilities up to a 10 Khz sampling rate which we are interested in for modal testing of engine structures. Also if this type of card is available what would be the maximum input channel count of this card. We would be interested in the highest count available up to 64 channels.
A second question: We currently have a 64 channel PCI 6071 capable of 1.25 MS/s throughput. If we are using all 64 channels what would be the interchannel delay between the first and last recorded channel and at what frequency would we have to be sampling to even be able to see the affect of the interchannel delay of this specific card.
This issue has been debated wi
th in our group and your insight would be appreciated as you are the experts in this field.

    Dear Sir,
Thank you for using NI Developer Zone.
National Instruments has a product line designed specifically for acquisition of dynamic signals, it is called DSA - Dynamic Signal Analyzers. In according to the description of your application the card that best fits your needs is the NI-4472 that is available in PCI and PXI format. This card is able to acquire 8 channels simultaneously, as opposed to the regular DAQ cards that have a single A/D converter and a multiplexer. The NI-4472 has 8 Delta-Sigma A/D converters one per channel, what results in a better performance than having a single A/D converter in combination with a sample and hold and a multiplexer. To Acquire 64 channels you would have to have 8 boards and synchronize all 64 channels. The Synchronization process is very simple and with a couple of software calls we can synchronize as many as 112 channels for simultaneous acquisition at 102.4K samples per second per channel.
Regarding your second question, the PCI-6071 will sample between channels in a single scan at the maximum sample rate of the board (1.25 MS/s) but the
scan rate, i.e. the rate in which the same channel is sampled is defined by the user. Being that said, we can conclude that the interchannel delay will be the inverse of the 1.25 MS/s clock, or 0.8 micro seconds.
For a 1 KHz sine waveform, this represent a phase delay of 0.288 degrees between consecutive channels. For a channel list of 64 channels each one having the same 1 kHz sine waveform, the phase delay between the first and the last waveform will be 18.432 degrees.
I really recommend the NI-4472 as a very good solution for your application, besides that the combination of the NI-4472 with LabVIEW and the sound and vibration toolset will give you a tremendous tool to solve not only your immediate need but also provide you a system that will be easily modified and adapted for future needs.
If you need more info, feel free to contact me and I can give you more details about this product.

  • Are there any unique benefits to carplay?

I couldn't find the appropriate community section for this question so I'm just posting it under iPhone since it's kind of related.
I'm hearing a lot about apple's new carplay. It sounds interesting, but I'm having trouble understanding the major benefits of it compared to just using your iPhone in your car.  Right now I mount my iPhone and hook it up to my car stereo via USB.  All my apps' (music, gps, Siri) audio comes out the car stereo and I'm able to talk to Siri through the car Bluetooth mic.  (I could go completely wireless with all the audio via Bluetooth but I prefer the better sound quality of USB plus it charges.). The iPhone screen is easily viewable since it's docked near my vent and when necessary I can easily tap it.  Plus all my apps are available (useful driving apps like cheap gas locators), not just the ones supported by carplay.
I see it's beneficial in that the icons on the car display would be bigger. But it's not that big a deal seeing stuff on my mounted iPhone.  Plus if it's truly meant to be "eyes free" then that shouldn't matter so much anyway.
I don't think apple would spend so much time and energy on this if it wasn't for a huge benefit.  What am I missing?

  • Are there design issues in declined payments and Family Sharing?

In Family Sharing, the Organizer is responsible for billing.  If a purchase fails due to a billing issue the unpaid balance causes all iTunes to become inaccessible until corrected.  The Organizer is not able to identify the cause and Apple recommends "logging in with other members accounts" to resolve the unpaid balance.  Further, you must verify the billing information via the Organizer card security CVV code through the other members account,
Is Apple advocating sharing passwords given the need to "see member purchases."  This seems odd because you are sharing the purchases.
If purchases are billed to the Organizers account, why are they unable to correct an issue within the family?
Is this the best Apple can offer?

I did see your other thread, but kept away from it because it seemed to be getting a bit heated. Some points I did notice:
People suggested that a design involving "thousands" of entities must be bad. This is neither true not nor unusual. An EBS database may have fifty to a hundred thousand entities, no problem. It is not good or bad, just necessary.
The discussion of "how many partitions" got stuck on whether Oracle really can support thousand of partitions per table. Of course it can - though you may find case studies that if you go over twenty or thirty thousand for a table, performance may degrade (shared pool issues, if I remember correctly).
There was discussion of how many partitions anyone needs, with people suggesting "not many". Well, if you range partition per hour with 16 hash sub-partitions (not unreasonable in, for example, a telephone system) you have 384 per day which build up quite quickly unless you merge them.
You own situation has never been fully defined. A few hundred million rows in a few TB is not unusual at all. But when you say "I don't have a specific problem to solve" alarm bells ring: you are trying to solve a problem that does not exist? If you get partitioning right, the benefits can be huge; get it wrong, and it can be a disaster. Don't do it just because you can.  You need to identify a problem and prove, mathematically, that your chosen partitioning strategy will fix it.

  • Are there any Windows 10 Device Management API?

We are looking to develop a semi MDM solution for windows 10. Are there any new api that have been release in this regard. Here are the specific tasks we would like to accomplish:
Put a device into kiosk mode programmatically.
Monitor the screen of a windows 10 device on a different device (send the screen feed through in a p2p format)
Restrict / only show white listed applications
Install apps onto devices through Windows custom app store, or ability to push apps to devices.
We can accomplish all these tasks in Android Lollipop.
Does anyone know if there are any new api or any other way or carrying out the above actions?
(Note the MDM is for an educational institution, who require the functionality.)
Thank you for any of your inputs.

  • I have an imac G5 with a power PC chip running os 10.5.8.  and using safari 5.0.6. are there any security threats i should be aware of?          s there a

are there any security concerns using my PPC imac g5 running OS 10.5.8 and using Safari 5.0.6?

You could use a browser that does not use Flash or Java, as a safety measure when visiting sites; the Safari browser has no support or recent updates. TenFourFox v 24 is fairly good, and uses later Mozilla code, is compatible with powerPC computer limitations. SeaMonkeyPPC has a similar code, but acts a little different; and there still is iCab, a good browser that will run free, but asks you get a $20. license.
The Safari browser can be used to set a different browser up as system default, so it won't launch and open attachments or web pages; it has a setting in its preferences where you choose another browser as default. As I have four or five browsers and one dedicated to gmail (launched as signed-in, through notifier) that is how I've used the default, otherwise mine are all in the Dock.
There is no new upgrade for Adobe Flash plugin player, etc; but the one in their site for vintage is still available at getflash player at Adobe. Most prompts online are to get you something else, even adware loads up from some not-so-clever efforts to get people to install junk. So go to the source. Someone wrote a patch that is supposed to allow a later version of Flash player to work in older 10.5.8 PPC Mac, but I have not tried it.
The thread of security is mostly based on the user and their caution to avoid odd free software and also avoid some sites that try to get people to load cleanmymac or genieo, or other adware malware voluntarily. Those are troublesome and hard to remove, and can waste processor cycles, slow the computer & mess it up. Mostly from a browser the adware issues arise. For those you see The Safe Mac and read up on the adware removal guide, among others linked on the page: http://www.thesafemac.com/arg/
So anyway, there is really nothing new on the face of it for obsolete OS X systems users.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Since I have the newest version of itunes, I can't back up like normally. The only way is to considilate files and then put them on an external drive which I don't have. Are there any other options? If I can't back up to a disc like I used to, can I instead just keep everything on my ipod and then if I have to get a new computer or something just download all my songs from the ipod to my new computer's itunes? Will that work? Will I still be able to keep all my songs that way?

I'm going to assume the consolidating files does not work due to hard drive space limitations.
Since you're moving to Windows 7, have you tried using the Windows files and settings transfer utility?  That will move everything for you to the same location on the new computer, it also allows some control over what actually gets moved.
Alternatively, if you know the location of all of the media, it can be manually moved by copying it from the old computer to the new computer in the same location.
Also, using the Apple article on moving the library, take a slight twist on what it says.  Move the iTunes library to the external drive, update the settings in iTunes to reflect the library being on the external drive, then consolodate it.
The options are endless for moving the library... it simply takes a little effort to make it happen and possibly a twist on existing "standard" methods depending on your unique situation.

  • Are there any apps which will allow local calling using data only that do not require any special numbers called out initially and does not require the receiver to have a similar app or account?

Are there any apps which will allow local calling using data only (not minutes, no extra charge) that do not require any special numbers called out initially and does not require the receiver to have a similar app or account?  Just for random local calling.

    Yup.
Here is a way you could solve this by adding an extra column and a small lookup table:
The lookup table is here for the copying:
    0
    1
    k
    kilo
    2
    M
    mega
    3
    G
    giga
    4
    T
    tera
    5
    P

    6
    E
    exa
    7
    Z
    zetta
    8
    Y
    yotta
In table 8 (the one on the left in the image) column A is where the values are.
    B1=A1÷(1024^VLOOKUP(INT(LOG(A1, 1024)), Binary Prefixes::A:D, 1))&" "&VLOOKUP(INT(LOG(A1, 1024)), Binary Prefixes::A:D, 2)&"B"
this is shorthand for... select cell B1, then type (or copy and paste from here) the formula:
    =A1÷(1024^VLOOKUP(INT(LOG(A1, 1024)), Binary Prefixes::A:D, 1))&" "&VLOOKUP(INT(LOG(A1, 1024)), Binary Prefixes::A:D, 2)&"B"
    select cell B1, copy,
now select all the cells in column B, paste

  • Hi everyone, I have just purchased a new iMac 27. Is this device able to support a multiple monitor set-up (additional two screens)? If so what do I need and are there any draw backs?

    Hi everyone,
I have just purchased a new iMac 27. Is this device able to support multiple monitor set-up (an additional two screens)? I am not a gamer, so require the set-up for 'office suite' type work and video viewing. if the set-up is possible, what would I need, is it pretty straight forward and are there any draw backs?
    Thank you.

I just purchased the same imac. I connected the other displays using a thunderbolt to dvi adapter and it works fine.
