Are there any Chinese-speaking salesperson in Apple Stores in the Los Angeles area?

My friend's mother from China is coming to visit her in the Los Angeles area. She would be interested in trying out the new iPad, but she doesn't speak English. Are there any Chinese-speaking salesperson in Apple Stores in the Los Angeles area?

Yes I was hoping there would be Chinese users here who were pleasantly surprised to have met with such salesperson in the stores.
While I suppose someone may respond, as previously suggested, contact the Apple Store in LA. You are far more likely to get accurate information that way as opposed to a post here.

  • If I want to buy the iPad Air from US although I'm from Hong Kong, is there any difference between buying in Apple Store and in BestBuy ?

If I want to buy the iPad Air from US although I'm from Hong Kong, is there any difference between buying in Apple Store and in BestBuy ?
E.g. I buy it in BestBuy, I still can take the iPad Air to the genius bar if there are problems for the iPad?
    Thanks!

Yes, as long as you buy a new device from an Apple Authorized reseller (which BestBuy is) then you have the normal Apple one year warranty with it.  Apple will honor that warranty in any of their stores, and anyone with any Apple device is welcome in any Apple retail store with questions or seeking help.

Phil0124:  Sorry, I guess that I may not have communicated clearly initially.  The reason that I asked about the DVD reading capability in the first place is that I would like to be able to watch a movie "stand-alone" (like on an airplane) on my iPad without having an internet connection.  If VUDU is strickly a streaming service that wouldn't satisfy my needs after all.  After looking into the iTunes store offerings, I can see that I can either purchase a movie or rent one from them.  Either way, as I understand it, the content would then reside in a file in the iTunes folder in my computer (if rented, this would just be temporarily) and could be viewed on my computer and/or transferred to my iPad for viewing.  Considering the legal question, isn't there a copy being made and transferred into my possession.  So,what's up with that?
Yes Vudu streams. iTunes does not. If you buy or rent a movie on your computer through the iTunes store, then you are legally entitled to transfer that movie to your digital device as long as that device is under the Same Apple ID used to download it to the computer, and is authorized to view the content. Usually this is the case if your device is synced with iTunes on the computer  This is legal and covered by the terms of use of the iTunes store.
If your rent a movie on your computer you can also transfer it to your iPad but it will be removed from the computer as rentals can only exist in one place at a time. When the rental period expires the movie will be automatically removed from your computer or device, wherever it is when the rental period expires.
If you buy a movie on your iPad these can be transferred to your computer using the Transfer Purchases button on iTunes on your computer while the iPad is connected to it.   Rentals on iPads or other mobile device cannot be transferred and must be watched in the iPad or device that download them.
All of these methods through the iTunes store download the complete movie to the device or computer, so no internet connection is required for watching at a later date.
Rentals have a 30 day life as long as they haven't begun to be watched.  Once the movie has been started then it has a 48 hour expiry period. That is you must finish watching the rented movei within 48 hours of rental as after that it is removed from the device.  You can watch it as many times as you want in that period of time though.

Purchased movies are yours, and never expire. If you delete the movie from your device or computer it can be re-downloaded at no extra cost provided the Movie is still available in the store.

    You must restore.

  • Are there any chinese fonts with iWork?

A friend in Beijing is keen to convert to Mac, but wants to know if there any Chinese fonts available with iWork?  If anyone knows, I'd be grateful for some feedback.
She's not keen on buying Microsoft Office for Mac.

Unlike on Windows the language support is not at the application level, but the system level.
Get your friend to try out a Mac in an AppleStore because the real concern will be whether OSX meets her needs for efficient input methods. The various methods Apple employs are relatively simple but not as efficent or helpful as you will find on Windows.
Don't expect the same of language support in the Mac version of Word as you do in the Windows version.
Have a look at free applications like Text Express and its related word processors which are well designed for the Japanese market but will do equally as well for Chinese. In particular these are easier for changing the direction of the text. Pages has no provision for vertical text.
One thing your friend will find fascinating is the OSX Service that lets you switch text between Traditional and Simplified text, at one click.

  • Are there any differences to an iPod touch bought in the USA that in the UK, Are there any differences to an iPod touch bought in the USA that in the UK

If i was to buy an iPod touch in the USA are there any differences to one bought in the UK?

I'm not sure that's correct Illaass.
Unless the volume restriction (on EU iPods) has recently also been introduced worldwide, then an iPod bought anywhere inside the EU (European Union) - which includes the UK, has the maximum volume limited, compared to an iPod bought outside the EU, such as the USA.
Note that I'm not referring to the Volume Limit feature in the Settings/Music menu (which both a USA and UK iPod Touch have), but the absolute maximum possible output of the iPod.
Our glorious leaders at "EU headquarters" decided some years ago to protect our delicate little ears from harm by capping the output of EU sold iPods and since then - well, you can guess the rest, it's boring.
To some people, this difference is very important, so drhill may want to take this into consideration. The "limit" of an EU model cannot be over-ridden, although if buying one in the USA (as drhill indicates he/she may do), you can of course limit the volume to the lower EU level using the Settings/Music>Volume Limit feature.

  • Are there any recommendations for virus checking/removal programs for the Mac?

Is there any recommendations for virus checking/removal programs for the iMac and MacBrook Pro running OS 10.6.7?

as has been said, you need no AV on your Mac. more info here: Mac Virus/Malware Info.
if, however, you exchange files with windows users on a regular basis, you might want to install ClamXav lest you pass an infected file on without realizing it.

  • Are there any Apple stores in the Pensacola, FL are? I have a cracked screen and wanted to get it fixed or replaced.

Need to find an apple store in Pensacola area if there even is one. Have a cracked iPhone 4 screen and was wanting to get fixed or replaced.
    Thanks!

Genius Bar, includes a list of all the Genius Bar in Florida. ( grey box right side of page ) This page will also let you book an appointment for the Genius Bar; that way you can wal into the store at the time of your appoinment and get help right away.
Apple Retail Store, include the option to find store by zipcode. This would show you see the closest store on a map. If you click on one of the stores listed, then click on hours and information, you should end up on the Apple Web Page for that store. If the store include a genius bar, there will be a link on the top right corner of the page to book an appointment for the Genius Bar.
Service and Repair, should give you access to all your servicing options. If there is no a Genius Bar close by, you might be able to arrange for mail in repair.
What ever service options you chose, I would highly suggest backing up your iPad. Ether using a computer, and or by iCloud. Some times repairing a product means they have to swap out the product for a replacement.

  • Are there any browsers for Mac other than Safari and Google Chrome that are better with adobe flash for my Macbook 2009?

On Safari Adobe Flash freezes at times on popular Flash chatroom I visit and on Google Chrome when I try to type the typing is laggy delayed. Adobe Flash needs to be fixed in Safari and possibly other Browsers, and Google Chromes html5 or whatever flash replacement their browser uses ***** on older hardware.

Go for Safari always, you will have more advantages than any other browser. You can safely install the Adobe Flash pluguin, it will install as pref pane in your System Preferences. From there you can limit its access, block sites for storing info in your mac.
Under the advanced tab of the Flash Player in System Preferences, check “Notify me to install updates”, so you are always up to date (feel free to check out any update directly form the Adobe website to be safe).
Steve does't want to allow Flash for iOS due to security issues (long story). But it's OK for mac, if you keep an eye on it.
Google's Chrome its decent, but you know, it's Google. I will prefer to take the advantage of the Apple's ecosystem, like syncing all Safari content and passwords with iCloud, to keep using it in your iOS devices. You can have an open page in your mac, and go to your iPad and continue with the same page.
Also you can find some useful Safari extensions that will trick the websites to load an HTML5 version of the video instead of flash (like if you were on an iPad).

  • Are there any "execute once" buttons in labview?? (the likes of command buttons in VB)

In VB, a button can be able to exucute a task or command once when pressed, in other words, we can NOT hold down this button as in the following case:
    Command1_Click()
    text3 = text1 + text2
Note, that if the form is still running and yo add new numbers to text1 and text2, text3 isn't updated unless Command button is pressed once again.
Unfortunately in LabVIEW, the only buttons I know are boolean, they seem to be held down when pressed or latched, sothat  when new numbers are inserted in the numeric controls, and mouse is pressed anywhere on the front panel (when vi runs) the indicator is automatically updated.
So is there any execute once buttons??
    T. A.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well the VB code you post is a Event Triggered code, you can use the same in LabVIEW with the event structure.
The concatenation of strings can be put inside the event case and will only execute when the button is pressed.

  • Are there any ill effects for turning up brightness all the way?

Are there are any ill effects or long term effects if you turn up and leave the monitor's brightness at full? I'm not worried about the battery draining or anything, I'm just wondering if it wouldn't be as bright two years down the road compared to if just always left the brightness at it's automatic setting. Thanks for your help,
    Tom

Having your display at full brightness does speed up the natural decay of your display's maximum brightness over time. So, someone who has their display at 50% all of the time will have a better maximum brightness after two years than someone who had their display at 100% over the same period.
However, I would suggest you just use your display as you want to. I normally have mine at 75% as 100% is actually too bright for me.

  • Are there any QR code reader's that work with the KIN twoM? Any web based appliacations? VZW based?

ANy help would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

Well thank you! I just recently learned about them myself  because the company I work for is about to start using them. Many companies are utilizing these now and I bet youll see alot more in the years to come. For example, best buy is actually using these on their price tags. Here, take a look: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=best+buy+qr+code&view=detail&id=07500A4A6E4E35B28119067F5FA2091D12CFCC6D&first=1&FORM=IDFRIR
See the QR on the lower left side? If you scanned that with your phone(or did I what I suggested with the kin), it would lead you to best buys mobile site for the item you are looking at.  With that link,  you can access further information about the product before you purchase it. Like all the specs listed online. So it seems like it could be a very useful tool. Recently bought a copy of Jack@ss 3d and a QR code was on there as well.  I believe that one linked you to some extra scenes or stuff like that.

  • I know about the lack of boxes, but are there any more specific answers from Apple about what's going on for the ipod nano replacements?

I've been watching the forums for a while now, and I know about the box shortage, but I'm afraid there are still some things that confuse me. It's been almost three weeks since I submitted a request for the first gen nano replacement program. Has anyone else been waiting this long? I admit, it's really frustrating to just have to wait with no word from Apple about when we can expect to recieve boxes.
I was also wondering if there's been any sort of answer on what the mailed-in nanos are being replaced with. Brand new first gen nanos, new nanos of a different generation, refurbished nanos (first gen or otherwise)? Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places, but I haven't seen a definitive answer. Has anyone completed the whole replacement program who can answer this?
Thanks for all the help! I was so excited when I first got the email telling me about this replacement program, but it's difficult when everything seems so vague.

I was also wondering if there's been any sort of answer on what the mailed-in nanos are being replaced with.
Call the replacement program (phone# is listed) & ask them.

  • Are there any conflicts or problems having 2 browsers on the same computer using windows 7

I have no experience with having different browsers on the same computer and want to know if there are any conflicts or problems before I download a second browser.

There are no conflicts if you install multiple browsers to the same computer. You can do that just fine.

  • Are there any apps that will permanently save photos to albums when they are deleted from camera roll?

Seems like many people want to manage their photos my separating them into albums, rather than one massive camera roll.   In Android once you move the photo form the roll to an album it is gone from the roll thus eliminating a massive roll.  So seems like someone out there must have devised a method of doing this on the iPhone using an app since Apple seems to be resisting this logical approach.

    No.
There are not two copies.  There is one and it is in the Camera Roll.  The albums you create only point to the pics in the camera roll.  It is simply an organization tool.
The camera roll is temporary storage for pics taken with iPhone.  You should be importing them to your computer regularly.  Once there, you can organize them however you like and sync them to your iPhone.
