Are there any example CVI certification exams available from NI ?

Thanks for any insight, -Dean

Am I going to be asked what menu or submenu to use to launch a certain feature ? I have no idea, I just look until I find it !
Will there be an instance of CVI running that I can use during the exam ? ( e.g. if I'm asked a question similar to what I stated above, or to use the help feature ). I was also curious if there was a practical part to the exam, which you stated there was, that was big question I had, so thanks agin for the input.
Even better: you will be asked what happens in case of error if you debugging level is "standard" or "extended" and so on...
Based on my experience, you will need to study carefully at least the Programmer's reference.
My exam had nothing to do with DAQ, DDE, Datasocket, ActiveX and generally external devices / programs: I don't think this aspect has changed, but it should be clear in the documentation available for the exam.
Fortunately, you will have a pc with CVI installed to work on, since in the same 4-hour block you will have to answer questions and develop the application in no particular order, but consider that it's no long a time if you need to study the online help to answer
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Are there any examples of queres or reports for the Access DB TS can generate?

I am currently useing the default TestStand SPC database storage routine to store the results of all runs. Are there any tools, queries, reports, etc. to help me post process this database? I thought I would check here before making something myself. Mainly looking for something that will do a scatter plot for a certian test so I can see where all the data is falling within the limits.

Currently NI does not have any post processing tools to assist you in formating the result information specifically for TestStand databases. Obviously using LabVIEW or LW/CVI or some other programming language you could write your own program to do such post processing.

  • Are there any OSM be-spoke cartrdiges available?

    Hello,
I was reading through SFS documentation for a vendor-analysis - I can see Oracle provides bespoke ASAP Cartridges for various NE's,Tech Packages for UIM.
I was wondering if there is any bespoke cartridges (except for the demo sales one) offered along with the product or licensed separately.
My understanding is that the O2A cartridge is a prebuilt set of integrated orchestration flows, application integration logic, and extensible enterprise business objects and services required to manage the state and performance of a defined set of activities or tasks between specific Oracle applications. This however is service agnostics.
So are there any bespoke OSM cartridges available leveraging domain knowledge and based on working with telcos?
    Regards
    Sain

OSM provides only O2A PIP cartridges and is not providing any bespoke cartridges. As most of the network elements used by different telcos are similar, and the way ASAP communicates to these network elements for various operations is same, it is easy to provide cartridges for various NE's. But in OSM, no two companies have same flow in providing a specific service to the customers. So it is difficult to provide such cartridges.
O2A PIP cartridges can be customized as per end user requirements.

  • Are there any 1z0-051 Sample Exams?

I am a person working in Java but I am planning to give 1Z0-051 exam in march. Have been studying from SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide - Watson. PrachiMy personal opinio n is if you know SQL well enough, and use the study guide to sharpen the edge of ones understanding, then one should be okay.
    So IMHO the candidate who:
    1) Learns SQL independently of the study guide
    2) Makes own notes and
    3) Downloads study guide errata
    4) Uses the study guide to fine tune knowledge up to exam standard.
    5) Refer to Oracle documentation and practice to resolve any uncertainties, practice this learned, or areas found difficult.
    6) Perform gap analysis against latest published topics
    7) Never take a practice test after revising that day.
    8) Only then does end of chapter questions .. and spend times investigating any wrong answers. ( Yes sometime these books can be wrong/ambiguous).
Stands a good chance of doing well ... provided they are able to understand the questions (ie poor english / japanese might be unhelpful; and an inability to rad a question carefully, exactly and properly will be a problem).
( If all else fails read the question ...... as an ex techer of mine used to drum into us week in an week out ).
    However if a candidate:
    - studies only by using a study book.
    - immediately does questions and repeatedly does same questions.
There is a real danger on overly relying on the questions given rather than being able to answer any question on the given topic and having gaining real practice and understanding of the things being learnt.
If you really need additonal practice questions you can pay your money for these official one:
These are available from the certification website at http://certificaton.oracle.com - preparation - practice tests ..... (and linked to by announcements posts in this forum)... so I guess Oracle would hope Candidates would find them.
... (NB: only buy one of hte Kaplan offerings ... )
At an extreme case if a person had does question 6 fives days in a week by the 5th day the person may know the answer is A,B,D without even knowing the answer!
    7) Then takes the sample exams on the CDROM (One at a time).

  • Are there any IPhone antenna signal booster available

    Hi,
We have two iphones in our family. The problem is that usually we have VERY poor signal strength in our house. I've gone to ATT's site to check out coverage (they have a map of signal strength by geographical location on their site) and sure enough, we live in a zone with poor signal strength. If we lived a block away, in any direction, from where we live now, we'd have great signal strength available. Sometimes we have good signal strength, but those times are few and far between, and the number of bars showing signal strength often changes right before our eyes.
We love the phones, but they are of little use to us while at home. So ... we wondered if there is a solution out there for us. Are there signal boosters, or something like that, which might help us out?
If there are, where would we look for one? Would we need a special kind?

Sorry, no feedback on this yet. I was hoping someone else would have already tried a booster or repeater or whatever they are, and post a comment about them here. We went to the ATT store in Pismo Beach and stood there for fifteen minutes waiting for someone to help us and then left. Two doors down there is a Radio Shack, and although these antennas are listed in their online catalog, the two guys who were working there didn't have a clue. Actually, Radio Shack was kind of a funny experience because one of the guys just said "we don't have any" and then just walked away from us to return to the movie he was watching on the large screen TV across the store. I swear!
Then, we went to another ATT store located on the south side of Santa Maria and we finally got a guy who not only knew what we were talking about, but was actually helpful. Though they didn't have any antennas for us at the store, he discussed the effectiveness of antennas with us, and was truthful enough to tell us that the information he was relating to us was just information he had heard from his friends, but that he had no personal experience with using these antennas.
Anyway, one of the posts at the top of this thread lists a site to check out, and it seems to have most of the brands we heard about in our search. It appears that they run in the neighborhood of $300 for a good one, and you can spend up to about $1,000 for one of the best models available.
I think we're going to spring for one of the $300 models and see if it works for us, but probably not until next week.
Sure seems like a lot of $$$ for phone service. I don't blame Apple for this at all. It just seems like ATT ought to provide better service, either through more towers or some other way. That's just mho.

  • Are there any examples for programmatically creating OBR 11g rules?

I am looking for some examples about how to use the API to create rules from Java code as the SDK documentation is very terse. Are there examples out there for creating rules?

When you create items in IB, they always appear at a default size (table view cells and nav bars have a height of 44, etc.). Is there anywhere to access these constants in code, for when you are creating elements programmatically?
    Not that I know of.
When I want the default dimensions for IB Library objects, I generally drag the objects of interest out of the Library, and read the dimensions manually in the Size Inspector. In fact, when I want to create a view programmatically, I often lay it out in IB, then use the Size inspector to get the frame of each subview.

  • Are there any Outlook Email Sync Tools Available f...

Hi, I've had the n900 for a while now, bit peeved with it, was sold as having proper tbt gps etc, that's another story I guess and one which is well documented elsewhere . Only getting round to setting up my email sync now and guess what, it doesn't work!! You don't seem to be able to sync emails between Outlook and the n900, not using PC Suite or OVI suite from what I can see. My work domain and mail is hosted on gmail, I leave a copy of the messages on the server so I can get in Outlook and on the device. Sometimes when I read a message, or reply to a message on the n900 it will never come through to Outlook, even though a copy is being left on the server. it would be nice if a sync tool was available for this, anyone know of any?
    Thanks
    Eamonn

you have a couple of options.
first, you have to know that ALL messages you send from your n900 do not get put on the server, but are actually in your "sent" folder on you n900.   so you will need to open that folder, and select all, then move to a folder on your server.....should you be using imap.
next.   i would recommend that you set up your email as imap.  it is similar to using MS exchange except that it is free, it does not sync your contacts, it does not sync you calendar.  but works great.  you will be able to see all your folders on your gmail account and even be able to transfer all your sent email on you n900 to your sent email on your gmail account.
i would stay away from OVI suite as it will just make a mess.   with the n900, it is not necessary to have anything sync with outlook, except your contacts, notes, calendar.  so use PC Suite instead as it works solid!
now, since you are new, there is a way to make your n900 email work much faster and smoother as well.
first, install these repositories to your n900 for future use.  just click on the links within the browser of your n900 and they will auto-install for you.
    EXTRAS-TESTING
    EXTRAS-DEVEL
now open your appmanager and install rootsh.  (this will help you for later as you read in this forum...at least for things that CPitchford and Ceroberts75 post)
now, here are directions to make your email client work much faster.  since i cannot attach a .tar file to this, if you send me a pm, i will send you a link to download a safe copy of it for you to use.
save the .tar file to root folder (your root folder is going to be n900 or whatever you named your unit)
    open xterm
    sudo gainroot
    cd MyDocs
    to install, use this code:
    tar xzf modest-3.4.2-baxyp-1.tar.gz  -C /
NOTE:  There are 2 spaces after the ".gz" and 1 space after the "-C"
it will just do an immediate prompt again, and seem like nothing happened, but it did.
to uninstall and go to original settings, use this code:
    apt-get --reinstall install libtinymail-camel-1.0-0 modest
now for the Nokia Messaging:  i started a thread for this Nokia Messaging.   Nokia messaging will auto-sync all your email like stated above, but there are different limitations to alerts and such on the n900 and if you only have a few email addresses, imo, it is better to just set them up in the modest email client (standard email installed).  it will also save a few taps everytime you have to see the email.
    FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS:
with symbian, you just need to go to email.nokia.com and install it.
but...on maemo, it is built in.
    open email client
    menu
    new account
next (wait for it to search)
    choose your region
    service provider:  Nokia Messaging
    next
e-mail address: (to the nokia messaging account you have for login)
password: (to the nokia messaging account you have for login)
    next
it will search...and probably have an error with server and then ask to have you put in all the advanced information.  use this information below:
    email address:
    your nokia messaging login email
    incoming:
    mail.nokia.com
    143
    outgoing:
    mail.nokia.com
    587
    with no securities used.
    next
this should do it and then you will see it start to sync.
then you can go into the settings of nokia messaging and set up the sync settings and times.
now when you open your email client, you will see "Nokia Messaging"
when you tap on that, you will now see all the email addresses you have set up for nokia messaging.
you can add up to 10 email addresses on the nokia messaging....and i am currently using 6 on my integrated email client...so you can have at least 16 email address on your n900 now, probably up to 20.

  • Are there any example vi's for implementing a circular buffer between a plc, opc server, and labview dsc??

I am storing a block of data inside plc registers and reading this group into labview as a continuous set of datapoints. I am counting the number of scans in the plc and sometimes the number of points collected inside labview doesn't match.

To explain a a little bit about tag updating:
The LabVIEW DSC tag engine is not just updated on any change of the value within the plc. There are, in fact, several "deadbands" that must be crossed before those tags are updated:
    1) The OPC Server has a deadband - where the plc register value has to change a certain % before it is recorded.
    2) In the LabVIEW DSC moduel, there is an I/O Group Deadband that determines when the tag engine is actually updated.
Both of these deadbands must be satisfied before a new "value" is recorded in the LabVIEW DSC tag engine.
Therefore, I would check your OPC Server's deadband (configurable in the OPC Server configuration utility) and also the I/O Group deadband for those tags (configurable in the tag configuration
    editor).
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please let me know. Thanks.

  • Are there any examples for using a CAN card via XNET on a real time system?

I am programming a real time application and I have a PXI 8512 card.  My first order of business is to get 5-byte messages from transducers that are broadcasting at 10 Hz on known message IDs.  There are no CAN/XNET samples in my "realtime" CVI sample folder.  I have found some in the nixnet folder but they are Windows based so I have to hack a lot of stuff out of them.

  • Are there any examples that do not require a personal webserver?  I do not need a server for my aps.

Back when Cirrus was Stratus, there was no need for a personal webserver to host a CGI script.
I have no need for a non AS3 server because my server is simply going to be another peer node on the network
It is a professional way to handle things too:
    1) You have a computer with a static IP that computers refer to as the master peer(yes wordplay).
2)If you can't afford a computer with a static IP, you can simply create a peer that responds to requests,"Are you the server?"  Yes, this is easily hackable, but when you're debugging, your friends aren't gonna be jerks.
All I want when I contact Cirrus is:
    1) A list of IP addresses of connected peers.
And if someone has example code:
    2) The ability to send "Hello World" to all peers.
Is this doable in Cirrus?  Stratus could do it.

the only difference between "Stratus" and "Cirrus (codename)" is the name.
Cirrus has never had a "list connected peers" function, nor has it ever reported IP addresses/port numbers of connected peers in ActionScript.
the VideoPhoneLabs example program has always required some kind of external registration service to register a peer ID for a name, and to look up the peer ID for a name.
it's possible to do P2P with Cirrus and no active web server by using RTMFP Groups (NetGroup, GroupSpecifier and friends). i have posted examples from my labs at MAX from years past that implement text chat and other functions using only Cirrus. and you can do P2P with groups on a LAN with no server at all (not even Cirrus).  see this thread:
       http://forums.adobe.com/thread/766959

  • Are there any application code-reading tools available?

Since my query about BugHunter went unanswered, I thought I'd try again from a different angle. I need a tool that shows code associated with a screen, button, or command in the application when you use F1 or the CSH "?" on the screen/button/command. Instead of generating map IDs in the Help and passing them to the developer, we get the map ID number generated in the code and add it to the Help. I need something that shows the code for each specific app item to check the accuracy of these numbers. (The WinHelp BugHunter did that, but for some reason the HTML Help BugHunter does not.) Does anyone have experience with such a tool?
    Lacona

    Hi there
You said the WinHelp Bughunter works? If so, then why not continue to use it? I'm thinking that from the application standpoint, it's simply sending a MapID, no?
I know the call to a CHM is likely different, but if all you are looking for is the MapID...
