Are there any keyboard shortcuts in Word?

Is there any way to go down or up a whole screen or page in a Word document using just the keyboard? Or to go to the end or back to the beginning of a document? I can't find a way, and it's frustrating having to go to the scroll bar each time. I know there's iScroll and Side Track, but I'm hoping there's something that's native Apple. Thanks for any suggestions.
Cheers, Peter

Hi peter,
well I don't know if there is a shortcut to go directly to the end, but to scroll down quite quickly I press fn+down/up.
I don’t know if that can be useful but I sometimes use it.
Cheers

  • Are there any keyboard shortcuts for navigating conversation view?

In sparrow- which I'm coming over from due to it's support of Gmail, you can use various keyboard shortcuts to move back and forth in the thread.
I prefer the Mail layout, but might have to go back if I have to click everywhere!

Some other commands that can make it easier to work with layers:
Frame and Layer Utilites: contains a number of commands for working with layers, like hiding the current layer in all other states but the current one, or moving the layer up or down in the panel.  Any of the commands can be assigned keyboard shortcuts.  http://johndunning.com/fireworks/about/FrameLayerUtils
QuickFire: lets you quickly match a layer by typing part of its name and then hiding it, locking it, etc.  http://johndunning.com/fireworks/about/QuickFire
Solo Selection: hides all elements except the selected ones, so you can work on just a part of the document.  Run it again to make everything visible again.  http://johndunning.com/fireworks/about/SoloCommand
I'm also working on a command that will you navigate the elements in a doc via the keyboard, which should be ready soon.

  • Is there any keyboard shortcut for Lift & Stamp?

I would like to know if there´s any keyboard shortcut for "Lift and Stamp". Something like "copy and paste".

no prob ... just know that that way will lift and
    stamp ALL current adjustments ...
to selectively do it, just uncheck the other
adjustments you dont want L&S'd ...
i routinely use this method and rarely use the lift
    HUD ('O') ...
Exactly, I find this method very useful in my work.
    Regards.

  • HT1518 Are there a keyboard shortcuts for the alt or option symbol ⌥ and the cmd ⌘ symbol ?

Is there a keyboard shortcut for the alt or option symbol ⌥ and the command symbol ⌘? I need this a lot to take notes from tutorials etc. I know I can copy them from other text or access the special character menu, but I would love to have a easier shortcut.

You can try making one for yourself via system preferences/keyboard/text/symbol and text substitution

  • Is there any keyboard shortcuts for navigating through Fireworks layers? Yes there are!

Since I couldn't find a way to post a reply on the original question I decided to create my own discussion on this.
The "alt" key is your best friend when working with layers.
Alt click on show/hide, lock/unlock, and expand and collapse arrows will apply to all.
Example: Lets say you have 20 layers, all unlocked, it is starting to become extremely difficult to select just a single item from a single layer. If you alt click any layer, all your layers will become locked, then you can easily just unselect the layer that has your content in it. Alt clicking again unlocks all your layers.  (*note - sometimes sub-layers remain locked even when the parent is unlocked).
Again this works with the show/hide and the expand and collapse toggles as well.
In addition I wrote a command and assigned a shotcut key to it that lets you do several very useful layer interactions with one shortcut key.
    My command lets you:
    1) Copy all your selected objects (regardless of what layer they are in),
    2) Creates a new layer
    3) Opens the name layer dialog so that you can name your new layer
    4) Paste al your selected objects into your new layer.
You can find this comman here with instructions how to install it and how to set up a shortcut key for it). *Note this command is used with John Dunnings (johndunning.com) layers command.

By default, there are no keyboard shortcuts. However, you can use custom commands. For example, http://johndunning.com/fireworks/about/FrameLayerUtils

  • Are there any keyboard covers whose benefits outweigh costs

By cost, I'm referring to the time spent installing (I figured it'd be simple, but they keys on the cover didn't fit very well over the keyboard). Is there a quality one that is absent of the defects mentioned by others (fading, hazing, etc)?

I came across numerous threads about over heating when I was reading about clamshell mode ( when you run your macbook with the lid closed ) and people were mentioning how really hot machine gets without being able to breathe properly when the lid is closed .That led me into thinking that the keyboard is another source of ventilation/heat dissipation (there are quite a number of other users who say so)
For example you can see this user comment on the apple store about moshi clearguard :
    Use with care.

Keep in mind that your MacBook Pro dissipates heath from the back grill but also from the >keyboard the fans push the warm air out …
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV901LL/A
These are streamlined powerhouses that have an engineered perfect spot between getting hot and running silent with a tiny footprint.I keep reading about any modification be it see thru case overs or keyboard protectors etc etc just ending up with a warmer machine ..The reason is simple the aluminium chassis keeps the internals cools because it's an excellent heat conductor that way you can have a very silent yet considerably cool machine .Also MBP has exhaust behind the machine while it has air coming in form practically every opening it may have, allowing nice all round air flow in the machine .The logic board of your machine is directly under your keyboard which has the cpu and the gpu on it , the two major heat generators.
I say stick with the engineering marvel that you paid top dollar for and let apple design genius do it's job .Small scratches and some wear on your keyboard just goes to show that you actually use your machine not sit and look at it all day . It adds character to it

  • The keyboard shotcut to top of page was Control+home and to bottom was control+end. Now I am running Windows 8.1 neither works. Is there a keyboard shortcut?

Untii now the keyboard shortcut to top of page was control+home and to end was control+end. Now I am running Windows 8.1 and Firefox Beta neither of these work. Neither does control++ or control+0. (They did not work before I upgraded Firefox while I was using W8.1). Is there any keyboard shortcut to get immediately to top and to end?

Home and End without the Ctrl key should be sufficient to go to the top and bottom of a page.<br />
You only need the Ctrl key if you are in a text area.
Do you otherwise have problems with scrolling a page?
Does the Ctrl key work otherwise?
Did you try a new profile?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

  • I just loaded 4,000 songs into I-tunes on  a new laptop.  All of the songs are checked.  Is there a keyboard shortcut to unchek all songs at once in the library?

just loaded 4,000 songs into I-tunes, my entire CD library.  All of the songs are checked.  Is there a keyboard shortcut to uncheck all songs at one time

Yes, CTRL-click on one of them, but why? Unchecked songs will usually be excluded from any device you sync with and will also be skipped during normal playback. If you're using the first effect to control what goes on your device, and "living with" the second then why not switch to using playlist selections for the device. Otherwise one inadvertent CTRL-click on a checkbox will undo all your selections.

  • Are there any shortcuts for creating Value Object Classes?

    Hi,
I'm using a Remote Object to connect to my server
(pyAMF/Django). I'm getting stuck with the creation of Value Object
Classes. It doesn't seem very DRY to have a class on my server
representing the data model and then have to recreate that class
and all its properties in my Flex app.
Are there any shortcuts for creating client side VOs from
    server side data?
I was thinking about declaring an empty VO class in Flex, and
then dynamically assigning/casting my Proxy object to that class.
It seems like that approach may cause problems for the Flex
    compiler though.
    Any hints?
    Thanks!

One thing that has helped me in that area is a free tool from

You simply install a (very lightweight) Eclipse plugin, add a
single annotation to your Java VO classes, and it automatically
generates your Flex VOs. It even creates a base and extended
version of each VO on the AS3 side so you can add code to the
extended VO without fear of having your changes overwritten when it
    regenerates your Flex VOs.

Are there any other left eye dominant (or left handed) iPhone users that experience problems with the touch screen keyboard selecting the letter next to the one you'd intended..?

It's either hand right or left.
I have the same issue myself.  Not sure if it's b/c my fingers are too big or if I'm really missed the letter on the keyboard.
