Are there any obligations to finish iTunes U courses, tests, or exams?

Hi All,
I am interested in taking several iTunes U courses for grneral interest, but I haven't been able to find any information on my obligations in taking these courses. Once I sign up, do I have to finish the course? Will I have to take tests or exams? Will I have to do assignments? Do the courses have start and end dates? Will I get credits for taking the courses?
Thank you!

iTunes U does not allow charging for the online courses, though an institution can create private sites accessible only to students registered in an applicable course for which the student may have to pay tuition. iTunes U is not available to private companies, however, only to educational institutions and K-12 school districts. Here's their official statement:
iTunes U is a free service available to qualifying K-12 public school districts, and private schools, as well as two- and four-year accredited, degree-granting, public or private colleges and universities.
so if you're a private company, iTunes U will not be available to you.
Regards.

one obstacle, quickly removed. thank you.
nomenclature aside for a moment, 10.6.8 is correct but maybe more is necessary about the MacBook Pro: it is 'old': Identifier: 1.2, Intel Core Duo, 2.16 GHz, 1 Processor, L2 2 MB, RAM 2 GB.
i hope that is enough to get an answer to this: is it unadvisable to update its OS; in other words, if i update to 10.9, will the machine be able to handle it, 'speedwise'?

  • Are there any free downloads in iTunes? In all catagories?

Hi everyone i recently got my first iPhone and stepped into the tech
world. So I'm very unfamiliar w/ anything and everything it offers. I'm
a single mom of two great kids 11 & 2 yrs old. I choose this phone
because the CSR at my local sprint store told me that this would be
the best phone for what I was looking for. Which is free books and
other learning tools? We do not have a computer so rely on this phone
a lot. Does iTunes have free books that I can download? Are there
other places I could get free book downloads?

there are some free books in the itunes bookstore but not a lot...remember most people write books to make money.

  • Is there any way to export iTunes U course notes?

For example, collect all notes of a course and convert them into text files. Many thanks

I was unable to find a way to export all notes at once; I had to select each one to copy and paste.
Sounds like a great suggestion to make at bugreport.apple.com!

Since I have the newest version of itunes, I can't back up like normally. The only way is to considilate files and then put them on an external drive which I don't have. Are there any other options? If I can't back up to a disc like I used to, can I instead just keep everything on my ipod and then if I have to get a new computer or something just download all my songs from the ipod to my new computer's itunes? Will that work? Will I still be able to keep all my songs that way?

I'm going to assume the consolidating files does not work due to hard drive space limitations.
Since you're moving to Windows 7, have you tried using the Windows files and settings transfer utility?  That will move everything for you to the same location on the new computer, it also allows some control over what actually gets moved.
Alternatively, if you know the location of all of the media, it can be manually moved by copying it from the old computer to the new computer in the same location.
Also, using the Apple article on moving the library, take a slight twist on what it says.  Move the iTunes library to the external drive, update the settings in iTunes to reflect the library being on the external drive, then consolodate it.
The options are endless for moving the library... it simply takes a little effort to make it happen and possibly a twist on existing "standard" methods depending on your unique situation.

  • While looking to upgrade to a new MBP, found out latest version of iTunes does not support wired syncing of iCal and contacts. syncing of these must be done through iCloud. This is a deal breaker for me. are there any workarounds?

While looking to upgrade to a newer MBP, found out latest version of iTunes does not support wired syncing of iCal and contacts. Syncing of these must be done through iCloud. This is a deal breaker for me for several reasons. Are there any workarounds or do I have to go back to a PC with my tail tucked between my legs?

When you say wired syncing, are you meaning between an iphone and your mac?

  • I keep getting error 2503; 2502 when trying to install itunes in order to back-up my iphone; are there any downloads to correct this problem; any other help???

I keep getting error 2502 and 2503 when trying to install itunes on my Win8 in order to back up my iphone; are there any downloads to correct this; any help????

The issue seems to be with Windows 8/computer.  Try googling those error codes and see what result you get.
I don't see any of those error codes in apple support page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1424

  • HT1329 My large iTunes library is on an external hard drive. Can I set up iTunes on my new Macbook Pro and copy the library to it or are there any pitfalls?

I have my large iTunes library on an external hard drive. Can I set up ITunes on my new Macbook Pro and transfer/copy this library to the internal hard drive or are there any problems I should be aware of?

ITs an old Iomega 100gb external HD that has about 90gb of music on it. The Macbook has a 500gb HD. I would like to put the iTunes library on the internal HD so I have room to expand.
    Phil0124 wrote:
You can copy it to the internal hard drive as long as it fits on it. How big is your library, and how big is your internal HD?
The only thing you do not want to do is over-stuff the internal hard drive. The OS needs some space to operate correctly, so if your iTunes library uses up more than say 80 to 85% of the internal HD's available space it may not be a good idea to transfer it over.
With that said, the internal HD will provide slightly faster access to the library than the external would, but other than that, you can point iTunes to the external drive just fine.

Are you looking for the serial number or the IMEI? If the phone was active on your Verizon acount, Verizon can give you the IMEI.

  • I want to buy a 2nd iPad for my wife. we both have kindles and I have the kindle app for my iPad.  are there any issues or concerns in adding a 2nd iPad to the iTunes account

I want to buy a 2nd iPad for my wife.  we both have kindles and i have the kindle app for my iPad. are there any issues or concerns in adding a 2nd iPad with kindle app?

You can sync as many iDevices as you own to a single iTunes library if you want to do so. If you manage the content manually, you can pick and choose the apps, music, videos and so on that you want on each device. One iTunes account means using the same Apple ID to purchase and update all of your apps. You can share apps on both devices because once you buy an app, you can download it to all of your iDevices - as many times as you want - using the same Apple ID and iTunes account. If you decide to do this, you have to sync to the same computer each time in order to keep all of your shared apps in the one iTunes library.
The Kindle App content is not synced to the iTunes library. It is controlled by your Kindle account. I believe that you can go into your Kindle account and transfer your purchase to your other devices - iPad, computer, etc. You can both have the Kindle app on your iPads and share the content as far as I know, so I see no conflict there. However, while I do have the Kindle app and an account, I do not use it very often.
If you want to share the one iTunes account, there should be no problems with a second iPad. I sync my iPad, my iPod Touch and my wife's iPod Touch to my MacBook using the same iTunes library and we have different content on all three devices. My daughter uses my iTunes account for her iPod Touch and syncs to her own MacBook and her own iTunes library.
Four devices using one iTunes account syncing to two different iTunes libraries.

  • HT4914 Are there any ways to download music or have an "iTunes" type of application that has no fee?

Is there any way to have " iTunes" or downloaded music @ no charge on my iPad?

Most commercial music is not available for free. For some strange reason, the artists and record companies want to get paid for their work. Most of the sites that purport to be "free" are scams or just links to the pirate networks. There are some legitimate sites that offer legally-free music, usually from indie bands who release their work for free to get their names out into the public. Here are a couple to get you started:

  • I recently updated my software to snow leopard 10.6.8 and now iTunes will not open, are there any updates I can download?

I updated my software to 10.6.8 so I could sync my iPhone to iTunes but now when I try to open iTunes, it quits as soon as I open it.  Are there any updates that will solve this?

This (Repair permissions) did not work. I am seeing that the "world" is having the same problem as I, and it it appears that Apple software people have been testing on us again. Well, I hope they see enough problems to justify working on it....
