Are there any quiet 20" iSight iMac G5 without constant buzzing sound?

Hello all,
Some of you may know I've got my iMac G5 and it has constant buzzing sound coming from the back of the vent. My friend's going to get one and he's afraid he is going to get one with buzzing sound. I don't know if it is just me or everyone's has buzzing sound.
There is a 17" iSight iMac sitting next to me. It is very quiet, so I know how it is supposed to sound like. Since it's a 17", I am not sure if they have the same designs.
So for those who have new 20" iSight iMac G5, can you tell me whether you have the buzzing sound from you iMac or not please?
Thank you very much.

My 20" G5 iSight has a constant fan noise, could be descibed as buzzing.
Yet my wifes 17" iMac iSight is virtually silent.
I note the 20" vibrates if you touch the left side of the screen, they were all doing that in the Apple store too.
I think that maybe the fan runs faster in the 20" due to faster processor, bus, graphics card and larger hard drive.
All these will generate more heat.
On another note a friend popped round earlier and said my 20" was really quiet, so it is subjective I think.
I have very sensitive hearing, I cannot hear my new iMac over my old PoweMac G4 FW800 - that is very lound.

  • Are there any ways to speed up Aperture without buying new hardware?

I have seen on many forums people complaining about the speed of Aperture. I have an iMac 2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM and Aperture is slow.
Navigating the images is not too bad really. They show quick enough for me, but my major gripe is with the speed of adjustments (in RAW). Functions such as Straightening and Sharpening are so slow that it makes it difficult to choose the level you desire.
For example, straightening is a fine art and because of the slowness the image jumps rather than rotating smoothly. This is extremely annoying!
Bar spending money money on a higher spec has anyone got any tips on speeding things up a little? Would reducing the quality of the previews help?

  • Are there any particular problems with HP Pavilion dv6700 relating to sound?

Recently lost sound on HP Pavilion dv6700.  I was using it at a high volume the day before.  The next day it
showed an x beside the volume  sign and said, "No Audio Device is Installed."
The number on this is KN828UA#ABA.  The computer uses Windows Vista 32-bit.

I use several Macs with Adobe Connect and I have even created MP3 files for playback in the room. Works fine on all my macs. It's basic Flash. Suggest they clear their browser cache, replace their host-add-in if using one. Run the audio wizard as well to make sure sound is working in Connect.
All of the Adobe Connect Government engineers use Macs all the time so we've never had an issue with MP3's.

  • Are there any wall mount brackets for the new iMac 27" 5k?

I have a wall mount (Bretford) for my Cinema HD Display that I have been using since 2008.  I just purchased the new iMac 27inch 5k computer.  It would be great to be able to use this computer with the wall mount.  The ones that are available (VESA) from the apple store and say they will work with some older iMacs.  My question is are there any available for the iMac I purchased? Thanks.

Hi. The VESA mounts for the iMacs are not "changeable": either you buy an iMac with a pedestal, either you buy one with a VESA mount, but you cannot switch, because the VESA mount is the first thing built in the iMac. You would need to sell your 5K iMac and buy a VESA 5K iMac.

  • Are there any updates so i can use my HP Photosmart C4780 All in One Printer wirelessly?

just wondering..are there any updates for the iMac with OS X (10.8.2) so I can use my HP Photosmart C4780 All in One (Print,Scan,Copy)?

    Hi,
An HP Full Feature Software is not available for Mountain Lion, therefore the Wireless configuration is tricky and cannot be done through the software.
To connect the printer to your wireless network you will need to create a temporary wireless ad hoc connection, then the wireless connection to your router can be configured via the EWS page:
Step one: Restore the printer's network default settings
Touch the ATM button ( ) next to Wireless / Scan .
Touch the ATM button ( ) next to Wireless Menu .
Touch the ATM button ( ) next to Wireless Settings .
Use the up and down ATM buttons ( ) to select Restore Network Defaults , and then press OK .
Touch the ATM button ( ) next to  Yes to confirm your selection.
Step two: Networkly connect the Mac to the printer by creating a temporary ad-hoc connection
From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon.
    Click Join other network.
    Click Show Networks.
Select the printer's SSID, it should be listed as HPSETUP or should contain HP or C4700 within its name.
    Click Connect
Allow two-three minutes to fully establish the network connection.
Step three: Connect the printer to your router via the EWS page
    Open Safari.
    Click the Bookmarks icon ()
    Click Bonjour.
Double click the printer name, the EWS page appears.
    Open the Networking tab.
From the left pane select Wireless.
Click the Start Wizard button and follow the steps to connect the printer to your router.
Step four: Reconnect the Mac to your router
From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon.
    Click Join other network.
    Click Show Networks.
    Select your router SSID.
    Click Connect
Allow two-three minutes to fully establish the network connection.
Now the printer should be connected to your network.
Open Print & Scan, click the Plus sign and add the printer listed as Bonjour.
btw John Galt - I this it should be spelled as OS X, please correct me if i'm wrong.. ;-)
    Hope that helps,

  • I have an imac G5 with a power PC chip running os 10.5.8.  and using safari 5.0.6. are there any security threats i should be aware of?          s there a

are there any security concerns using my PPC imac g5 running OS 10.5.8 and using Safari 5.0.6?

You could use a browser that does not use Flash or Java, as a safety measure when visiting sites; the Safari browser has no support or recent updates. TenFourFox v 24 is fairly good, and uses later Mozilla code, is compatible with powerPC computer limitations. SeaMonkeyPPC has a similar code, but acts a little different; and there still is iCab, a good browser that will run free, but asks you get a $20. license.
The Safari browser can be used to set a different browser up as system default, so it won't launch and open attachments or web pages; it has a setting in its preferences where you choose another browser as default. As I have four or five browsers and one dedicated to gmail (launched as signed-in, through notifier) that is how I've used the default, otherwise mine are all in the Dock.
There is no new upgrade for Adobe Flash plugin player, etc; but the one in their site for vintage is still available at getflash player at Adobe. Most prompts online are to get you something else, even adware loads up from some not-so-clever efforts to get people to install junk. So go to the source. Someone wrote a patch that is supposed to allow a later version of Flash player to work in older 10.5.8 PPC Mac, but I have not tried it.
The thread of security is mostly based on the user and their caution to avoid odd free software and also avoid some sites that try to get people to load cleanmymac or genieo, or other adware malware voluntarily. Those are troublesome and hard to remove, and can waste processor cycles, slow the computer & mess it up. Mostly from a browser the adware issues arise. For those you see The Safe Mac and read up on the adware removal guide, among others linked on the page: http://www.thesafemac.com/arg/
So anyway, there is really nothing new on the face of it for obsolete OS X systems users.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I want to run Lexware on my imac and was told I need bootcamp / parallels for this. Are there any downsides to this?

Hello, I need to run bookkeepting/ bill writing/ store management software on my imac and would like to use Lexware's German product (equivalent of Quickbooks), which can directly link to the German tax autorities. I was told I can do this from my imac via Bootcamp (they dont do a mac version).
Is this advisable and are there any downsides? Is it simple enough? Do I need to be online to use the Lexware software (I live in the deepest countryside with a wobbly connection!).
Thanks a lot for any hints or advice.

There shouldn't be any issues as Boot Camp allows installation of Windows which runs natively just as if you were on a PC. The only downside is that you have to buy a Windows full install disk. Be sure it is the right version for your software.

  • Are there any known issues running MAC OS X 10.8.5 on my IMAC and MAC OS X 10.6.8 on my MAC Server?

Are there any known issues running MAC OS X 10.8.5 on my IMAC and MAC OS X 10.6.8 on my MAC Server?

To answer the obvious question. No. None that I've seen. But it may depend on what you mean exactly?
Connecting to file sharing service - None that I've seen
Connecting to Open Directory (assuming proper configuration) - None that I've seen
Using the Server's Mail Service (assuming proper configuration) - None that I've seen
I can say the same about anything else the Server may or may not be offering.

  • Hi everyone, I have just purchased a new iMac 27. Is this device able to support a multiple monitor set-up (additional two screens)? If so what do I need and are there any draw backs?

    Hi everyone,
I have just purchased a new iMac 27. Is this device able to support multiple monitor set-up (an additional two screens)? I am not a gamer, so require the set-up for 'office suite' type work and video viewing. if the set-up is possible, what would I need, is it pretty straight forward and are there any draw backs?
    Thank you.

I just purchased the same imac. I connected the other displays using a thunderbolt to dvi adapter and it works fine.

  • I have a late 2009 iMac. I installed OSX 10.8.4 and want to go back to Snow Leopard. I have a 1.5TB external HD. Are there any issues I need to know about or tips I need to know before doing this? Thanks.

I have a late 2009 iMac. I installed OSX 10.8.4 and want to go back to Snow Leopard. I have a 3TB external HD. Are there any issues I need to know about or tips I need to know before doing this? Thanks.

Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
      1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer
loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the
          Utilities menu.
      2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status
of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then
the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART
info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on
the Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions
from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS
Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on
the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups made while on Snow Leopard, then you may do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion/Mountain Lion files.

  • Are there any more iMacs with optical drives available in Apple stores?

I want a computer that I can use DVDs with.  I have many and often order them so I will need to have an optical drive.  I don't want something that is not built in.  Are there any new left over inventory available of iMacs that previously had this feature?

These > Refurbished iMac - Apple Store (U.S.) both have SuperDrives and carry the same warranty as a new iMac.

  • Are there any known issues when using PSE 13 after installing Apple's recent 10.10.3 Combo update for Yosemite?

I've had Yosemite for some time and bought/installed PSE 13 afterwards.
In the last few days I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3.
As a PSE 13 novice I've been working my way through "Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 - Classroom in a Book". Working through the exercises I've found my iMac is sometimes taking longer to process the functions I'm using than prior ro the 10.10.3 upgrade. E.g., using the Healing Brush tools, Straighten Tool etc.
I've struggled with Apple's upgrade and had to re-install my machine from a previous Time Machine Backup and so I was wondering:-
Are there any known issues with PSE 13 post 10.10.3 upgrade?
Are there things I should be concerned about in the future before accepting an OS X upgrade?
    Thanks,
    Andy

No, no known issues. However it's a good idea to always delete preferences after OS X system updates.

    Hi Kenneth ,
We are sorry but you would not be able to update from Creative Suite 4 .The reason being there are no updates available for Acrobat version 9 .It is quite an older version so you are unfortunately not eligible for any updates or upgrade .
The best option for you would be to opt for Acrobat DC .
You could either for Acrobat DC subscription or perpetual version .Here is the link to download the same .
