Are there any specific advantages of using Forte's XSLT Processor over other Processor's?

The main advantage is integration into the UDS run-time system. This makes writing applications that perform XSL transformations in TOOL very easy.
You could implement such transformations using one of UDS's many methods for integrating external components. You can then use XSLT processors that support extension mechanisms that you need, or other non-standard features. This would come at the cost of using the external integration mechanism appropriate to the processor. See the "Integrating with External Systems" book in the UDS documentation.

  • Are there any specific codecs or import libraries that will make Premiere 6 use more file types?

Are there any specific codecs or import libraries that will allow Premiere 6 to import more file types?  I'm using Premiere 6 on Windows 7.
It seems that the only kind of file that can be imported in to this version of Premiere are certain types of AVI files... even some types of AVIs will import but then will not appear when placed in the timeline... no MPGs, MP4s, WMVs, or anything else will import at all.
Virtually every file that I need to bring in to Premiere 6 has to be converted to AVI with the H.264 codec first.
    Any help would be helpful.

    Hi Bill and John,
    Thanks for your replies.
My inquiry isn't as much to do with the AVIs that won't import as it is to do with figuring out the way that I can make MPGs, MP4s, MOVs and WMVs import in to Premiere 6.
The AVIs that do import were converted or created using the H.264 codec.  I do know a little about codecs, but I don't hold the PhD in codecs that is apparently required to completely understand them.
Below is the chart from the Premiere Elements 4 page at this link... http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402540.html
So, if I understand correctly, Bill is saying the Premeire Elements 4 is actually newer than Premiere 6 and that the Pr Elements apps will actually import more movie file formats than the regular versions of Premiere and Premiere Pro?... for someone trying to learn about these apps, one must admit that this seems to be reverse logic... this would be saying that Adobe gave the cheaper "consumer" versions of Premiere the ability to work with 3 or 4 more movie file formats than the more expensive "pro-sumer" version of Premiere.

The built-in web browser instruction manual in Premiere 6 shows this statement on the "Importing Clips" page, as shown in my screenshot linked above...
"File format support is provided by plug-in software  modules. Over time, additional or updated file formats may be available  from Adobe or other manufacturers, such as QuickTime."
This indicates that additional file format support can be added to Premiere 6 by "plug-in software modules", and that "over time, additional or updated file formats" were predicted to become available that would be supported by the file format manufacturers, such as Adobe themselves and other manufacturers such as QuickTime.
Since that was written ten years ago or more, there has certainly been the chance for these additional "plug-in software modules" to be developed "over time"... so I'm asking, "Where are they available?"
What I'm saying is, I will do my homework to earn at least my Bachelor's degree in codecs, but more than an education in codecs, I need to find these mysterious, "plug-in software modules" for Premiere 6 that Adobe wrote about and referred to over ten years ago.
Thanks for any clues as to where to locate these "plug-in software modules".

You don't need to upgrade your software.  But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3.  It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC.  More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.

If you don't have a budget to work with, you can roll your own menus with jQuery plugins.  A bit more effort on your part, but they perform better than Spry.

  • Are there any libraries can be used to generate Type 1 font postscript file

I am trying to create a Type 1 font postscript file. But I found it is hard to find the library to generate the Type 1 font postscript file. I just found a library named iText which can create the Type 1 font PDF file.
Are there any libraries can be used to generate Type 1 font postscript file?
    Thanks!

I don't see much benefit with the current ODI adaptors for planning if it is an EPMA type planning application.
They have been specifically designed to work with classic planning applications.
It certainly is possible to load into EPMA interface tables using ODI though there are no direct adaptors and it takes quite a bit of effect to get them into the correct format.

  • Are there any known issues when using PSE 13 after installing Apple's recent 10.10.3 Combo update for Yosemite?

I've had Yosemite for some time and bought/installed PSE 13 afterwards.
In the last few days I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3.
As a PSE 13 novice I've been working my way through "Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 - Classroom in a Book". Working through the exercises I've found my iMac is sometimes taking longer to process the functions I'm using than prior ro the 10.10.3 upgrade. E.g., using the Healing Brush tools, Straighten Tool etc.
I've struggled with Apple's upgrade and had to re-install my machine from a previous Time Machine Backup and so I was wondering:-
Are there any known issues with PSE 13 post 10.10.3 upgrade?
Are there things I should be concerned about in the future before accepting an OS X upgrade?
    Thanks,

No, no known issues. However it's a good idea to always delete preferences after OS X system updates.

  • Is there any Specific rule for using "IS" and "AS" keyword?

    Hi,
i am confused about the use of these two keywords "IS" and "AS".It seems to me they are used randomly anywhere in procedure, package or triggers etc..
Is there any rule for there usages , or only way is to remember the actual syntax whenever they are used ?

They are generally interchangeable, so you can use whichever you choose.
In the English language we say that "some object IS" and "do an action AS" so, for example...
in a package if we define a type it reads better as:
TYPE mytype IS TABLE OF NUMBER;because we are saying that this type called mytype IS a table of numbers.
but if we were to create the type on the database we would use e.g.
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE mytype AS RECORD (x number, y number);because we are saying that we are creating (action) a type called mytype AS a record.
Just a slight difference in grammatical meaning, but Oracle isn't bothered if you choose to use the other one in most cases.

  • I accidentally opened a malicious email with my iPhone. Are there any specific precautions/actions I should take?

I awoke one morning and in my "still not awake" state, I checked my email on my iPhone to find a "your deposit was rejected" email in my inbox. Having deposited a check online the night before, and still not completely conscious, I opened the email and clicked the link to the bank statement. Had my eyes not been blurry and I was actually awake I would have realized earlier that this was neither my bank nor that sneaky of an attempt to get me to click on the link. I realized about 3 seconds after clicking on the link that this was malicious, closed the mail app, closed safari, cleared the cookies and closed all tabs, deleted the email from the inbox and trash.
Is there any danger of this foolish mistake migrating to my MBP? Is there anything more that I should do to avoid this becoming a larger security breach?
    I appreciate all answers.

There is an antivirus app in Apple's ios app store.  It is from Intego.  It will not scan your ios device, but it will scan the attachment that you found on your email and if it is malicious then the scan should identify it and give you the option to safely delete or quarantine it.  You have to use your finger or a stylus to select what you want it to scan.  You just press down on what you want it to scan and don't let go, and then it launches and quickly scans that one item.  This is useful to make sure you don't spread it to other people more so than protecting your own device, I've heard, as the ios devices are already fairly safe.
I have the Intego app and can vouch that it is easy to use.  I scanned a few pdf files I saved on my iPhone 4 and they were clean.
If you are worried about your Mac, I recommend trying ESET antivirus for Mac.  It is light on resources and does not cause any problems, whereas most other antivirus software programs are notorious for causing problems on the Mac.  I've had ESET since June on my iMac and haven't had any problems, and it does not slow down my Mac or hog resources.

    Hi Dave,
I have a couple of suggestions for you. For Getting Started tutorials, check out these 5 below. They are specially designed for the new phone verison of Photoshop Touch:
    Starting a new project
    Using the tools
    Using Layers
    Creating Selections
    Saving & Sharing
For video tutorials of specific techniques, you could watch the videos in the Learn Photoshop Touch show on Adobe TV. Those videos were made for the tablet version of Photoshop Touch. Most of the functionality is the same but the interface is slightly different.
Finally, if there is a specific technique you are looking for, ask the folks here in this forum for suggestions. There are many creative and artistic people in this community with great tutorial ideas.
    I hope this helps,
    Luanne

  • Are there any (dis)advantages in building a universe on fully normalized tables instead of building dimensional model/tables and then universe on top of them?

    Hello,
I’m hoping someone can help me with understanding advantages and disadvantages if we want to build a universe on top of a fully normalized tables, compared to using a dimensional model with star schemas.
I’ve read some discussions here that say that it is possible to create a universe on top of normalized tables. Then, can we avoid building of dimensional tables (a data mart), and just use normalized tables? I would say that it is easier to use star schema dimensions and facts tables to build a universe, but our end users might ask “why do we have to go through building a dimensional data mart, if we can have same reports with hierarchies and drill-down functionality based on a universe built on top of our already existing normalized tables?”
Can you point me to some established best practices regarding using normalized tables to build a universe? Any documents with some examples for this?
Any expected difficulties during design/development phase of our universe, related to using normalized tables?
Any expected performance degradation if we use normalized tables compared to using dimensional tables?
Can I build universe more easily if I transform (modify) our normalized model (by using alias tables and views) to look like snowflake model?
I’m using BOE XI 3.1, tables are in Oracle 11.2.
    Thank you

Few Disadvantages that I usually face when building universe on Normalized tables,
    1. Performance - Read operations have to suffer because indexing strategies do not go well with table joins
    2. Derived Tables - Due to complex Queries/ Logic, most of the time, end-up creating derived tables, which doesn't use back-end table indexes and slows down the report runtime.
    3. Normalized table/ Transaction tables may not always have proper cardinality and often results in Cartesian products
    4. Normalized tables may not have tight referential integrity and may have to join more than one column and join on varchar, etc whereas, good Dimensional model datawarehouse will have proper keys/ integer joins and not always necessary to join on multiple fields
    5. Often deal with Fan and Chasm Traps
    6. Dealing with Database fields with nulls, blanks, date in numeric format, etc.,
    7. No Facts, Dimensions separated and most of the time they are in same table
    and More...
If performance is not a matter and building Datawarehouse is a big deal, then I will start building Universe on normalized tables by having the database diagram as reference for Joins, contexts, etc
Note: After dealing with universes based on normalized tables for few years (by creating views, complex sql queries data loading to tables and unv on these tables, derived tables), I ended up creating star-schema dimensional model (couple of months extra ETL work), users/ developers felt lot better when they have to create standard/ ad-hoc reports and they are super fast compared to previous universes.

  • Is there any specific docs for using iPlanet v5.1 as MTA only rather than as a MTA/IMAP server?

We currently use PMDF on a couple of dedicated boxes as MTA's for our site. Licensing for iPlanet v5 is a little more favorable and a number of the former PMDF developers now work for iPlanet/Sun and these folks were great to work with. I'm reading the admin guide right now but am curious if there is more out there? Or if anyone is doing what I'm looking at doing?
    al

There aren't any documents for installing the MTA portion of IMS only. In fact, out of the box, you can't install just the MTA in IMS 5.1. It may be possible in IMS 5.2.
Currently, you have to install the MTA and the store (which you can later disable). Then you have to configure your mapping and dirsync and so on for the MTA.
MTA configuration isn't drastically different in IMS (though I'm not familiar with SIMS or PMDF previous to IMS) so you will probably feel very comfortable with it after a read through the Admin Guide and the Reference Guide.
If you have a specific question about something in the process, someone could probably provide a little more detail.
