Are there any user problems for the new iMac 27"?

I am moving from Windows 8 enviornment to iMac. Just wondering if there have been any irreconcilable issues with this computer?

We made the jump in December and have not had any issues.  I added Parallels for the couple of programs I could not find suitable equivilants on the Mac.  So far we have been very pleased.

Are there any security updates for my G4 PowerPC OS 10.4.11?

No. Tiger is an obsolete and unsupported OS at this point. If there were any updates you would find them using Software Update.

I'm not sure where on the internet or which store you mean -- but if you mean an Apple advertisement on the internet and an Apple Store, note that there was an ad for MacBooks that showed them with a variety of stickers but Apple does't sell the stickers and not all of the ones shown in the ad were commercially available.

  • Are there different lens corrections for the new and old Nikkor 80-400mm lenses?

Is there a different lens correction for the new NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED lens and the older NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D lens? The model number box under profile correction seems to make no distinction so it is hard to tell if the right lens is selcted. This would also be important in filtering the lens used so a comparison could be made of the results between the old and new. The EXIF data seems to make no distinction either. The newer model is great!
    Thanks!

The newer lens is definitely supported - came in with Lr 5.0.

  • Are there any ADA features for the visually impared built into SL?

    Hi,
I am just about to buy a mac Mini for my Mother-in-law who suffer from macular degeneration. I was hoping that there might be some features built into Snow Leopard that were designed to assist the visually impared?

It's difficult to generalise for any individual user, as almost every partially sighed person has different preferences.
As V.K. pointed out, there are several features built into the Universal Access pane of System Preferences.
However, you can begin with the Desktop & Screen Saver pane in System Preferences. You can choose from a wide variety of backgrounds to give the appropriate glare reduction and/or contrast enhancement that might be necessary. Try first the Desktop Pictures folder itself, and the Nature folder (Ladybug and Tranquil Surface can be restful for stressed eyes). Wave, in the Black & White collection, can also be helpful, as can Pinstripe in the Patterns folder. Finally, it's worth exploring the Solid Colours, as icons and such show up most clearly against these.
You can also change the background colours of Finder windows (unfortunately only in Icon view), by using the View—>Show View Options menu command (shortcut Command-J), selecting the "Color" radio button and clicking on the white square. This opens the Colour Picker which enables the user to fine-tune the background to suit his or her vision. It can be very helpful to set the backgrounds of different folders to strongly contrasting colours, as they can be easily identified and selected without zooming in to see what they are. For example, if the Applications window is set to blue, the Utilities to a light brown, the Home folder to red, and the Documents folder to yellow, they are very easy to distinguish on the Desktop.
You can change the size of icons and the text identifying them, also in the Finder's View Options pane, and the Highlight colour (in the Appearance pane of System Preferences).
Moving on, in the Universal Access pane, of course there is VoiceOver itself, which enables even totally blind people to operate the Mac more or less comprehensively. However, learning this may be somewhat daunting to a person who is losing her sight, particularly someone new to the Mac. As A Brody indicated, this also provides Braille output, though again there might be a learning curve if the lady does not already know Braille. VoiceOver can be set to use Grade 1 (uncontracted) Braille, which is much easier than the contracted (Grade 2) forms.
Also in Universal Access, as Dire Wolf pointed out, there are several zoom options. The simplest is to hold down the Ctrl key and scroll with mouse or trackpad. There are also fixed zoom positions that may be more suitable, as they can be reached with a single keystroke. The zoom range is up to 20 times magnification. The zoom can be configured to follow the keyboard focus (though this works best in Apple applications, and some third-party apps do not work in this way), or to keep the cursor in the middle of the screen, or to move the image when the pointer reaches an edge of the screen.
The colours of the screen can be inverted, giving white on black instead of black on white, as referred to by Steven. Other colours may give a somewhat strange appearance—but it is worth experimenting with desktop and window backgrounds to give the most satisfactory solution. Alternatively, the whole display can be switched to greyscale, and the contrast tweaked to give maximum readability.
Finally, the third-party application VisioVoice provides a wide range of specialist contrast-enhancement and readability tools, as well as the ability to speak text or convert it to sound files for use in iTunes or on MP3 players and iPods. I know one person who uses the Text Enlarger window to show white text on a dark blue background, as this suits her eye condition best. Others prefer yellow text against muddy brown…
    Hope this helps!

A lot of changes in the new Numbers, but hard to figure out how to do things. Is there a Users Guide/Manual? If so, how do I download it? Didn't have much luck trying to do this from teh Apple site.

  • Are there any current drivers for the LaCie 324 monitor

    subject line...
LaCie's website has nothing beyond 2008

thanks. appreciate any help thrown my way.
    When I mentioned that there was a choice of either 2 different HDMI or a DVI output from the HD Express, I have not tried to use the DVI output. I would need a HDMI to DVI adapter which i may order. Thing is, I don't always want to use the LaCie 324 as a video reference monitor. I also like using it as a standard or second monitor with OSX and other software. This means I would always have to be switching DVI connectors every time i wanted to use the 324 in a different configuration. Bummer, but doable i guess. Here's some info from the MOTU site;
What are the system requirements for the HD Express?
System Requirements for the HD Express
The HD Express has the following system requirements:
    Available PCI-Express x1 slot or ExpressCard/34 slot
Large hard disk drive (preferably at least 500 GB)
    CD-ROM disc drive for installation
    For Mac OS X:
    Multi-processor or multi-core Intel Mac
1 GB of RAM; 2 GB or more is recommended
Mac OS X version 10.5 or 10.6; v10.5.7 or later required
For use with Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 or later; Final Cut Pro 7.0 or later is recommended on Mac OS X v10.6
    For Windows:
Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Phenom II, or equivalent 64-bit processor; multiple processors or multi-core processor required
2 GB of RAM; 4 GB or more is recommended
Windows 7 or Vista, 64-bit versions only; Vista SP1 or later required
For use with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 or CS5.5; version 5.0.3 or later required
    And here too;
    MOTU.com - HD Express Overview
So, I am still waiting to hear back from MOTU tech link about this issue And as I said before, my guess is that the PCIe card they sent with the HD Express has a large bug or is just completely inoperable.
    Thanks again- J.

  • Are there any nice downloads for the Iphone

And if yes where do i go to download them?

There are no downloads available for the iPhone as of yet. Come February there will be an SDK kit which will allow for 3rd party iPhone software.
In the mean time you can use Web 2.0 apps via Safari. This is the site I use to find them:

    https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

I have been studying the Server 2012 Videos and doing the online free labs, but they cover different parts of 2012 server. What I would like to get are sequential labs for 70-410, 70-411 and 70-412 so that I may have hands on as well as video and book training. I would even pay for the service. Please let me know if such a thing exists. I guess what I am asking is, can I get what a course wares lab books are also available online.Thank you, I have been using the below link up to this point, it's good practice, but I would really like better structure.https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/virtuallabs?id=f9E0rhsEF74&f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396Thanks

  • Are there any labview drivers for the chromalox 2030 controllers?

I am looking for drivers to communicate with the 2030 chormalox environmental controllers.  I haven't been able to find any.

I never did write anything for the Chromalox...lightning end up zapping it and we replaced the Chromalox with a Watlow. Check out the Product Instruction Sheet (PDF) at the link below. It's pretty basic, but might be enough to get you going. If not, I'd shoot an email to Chromalox and ask them if you have any communications manuals for it.

  • Are there any current problems connecting the iWeb server?  I can't sign in.

I've tried to publish for the last couple of days and receive an error message that the server isn't available and can't sign in

    Try this:
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "Ying" and "Yang". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password.
    launch iWeb and try again.
