Remember an general class on iPads or iOS will answer many of
your questions. It need not be a class specifically for iPad mini.
If no classes fit your need, check the other Seattle locations.

  • Are there iPad applications for dyslexia?

Are there iPad applications for an eight yr old girl with dyslexia?  Are there online programs that you know about that will aid these children at home?  Any help appreciated.  I am new at this so I am not certain how to find the responses posted.

Search Apps Store for "dyslexia". There are many apps that might be of interest to you
If you cannot find this response, there is little point in trying to tell you how to find it...

  • Are regular iPad minis and iPad minis with retina display the same size?

I am deliberating what case to buy, and i need to know if they are the same size, Thanks!

    iPad mini Retina:
    Height: 7.87 inches (200 mm)
    Width:5.3 inches (134.7 mm)
    Depth:0.29 inch (7.5 mm)
    iPad mini:
    Height: 7.87 inches (200 mm)
    Width: 5.3 inches (134.7 mm)
    Depth: 0.28 inch (7.2 mm)
    Source: http://www.apple.com/ipad/compare/
The depth (thickness) is the differing factor here. Most cases should work just fine. Some cases (especially the snap on back covers) *may* not fit because of the increased (.3mm/.01") thickness. The snap-on back (Best Buy/Rocketfish snap-on back shield) was a bit tight on my mini Retina but It was nothing I'd call a real issue. This is the type of case that may not fit or be tight because they wrap around the edges and snap onto the front of the mini's beveled corners. There is also an additional microphone on the iPad mini Retina. Original mini cases likely won't have this hole on the back. I don't know how critical that microphone is but in my situation, I simply drilled a small hole in the case back.

  • Are the backups performed at a genius bar different than using iCloud?

Brought in our iPhone 4S (iOS software up to date) to visit a genius at a local Apple Store (there had been gremlins running around, blocking screen rotation and randomly resetting the volume).  It had been backed up (or should I be saying "sync'd") to iCloud prior to the visit.
They reset the phone, and handed it back with one issue (rotation) resolved with a kind word of education (actually more of a slight of hand "all you have to do is . . . ", but it gave us enough to find the toggle on our own), and the other (volume) not misbehaving while in the repair shop.  Hope was that the standard reset resolved it.  It hasn't, but that isn't our semi-immediate issue.
When we received the phone back (same afternoon), contacts were back in place, MOST notes had been returned, we were told to pull our applications back from iTunes, etc. to put the phone back in order, and our photos were still safely on iCloud.
Now after having used the phone a bit including taking additional photos (without allowing it to resync to iCloud), are we in trouble if we try to restore things like the photos?  Will they be added to what we have, or overwrite the new photos and leave only the old ones?
Any suggestions will be appreciated (including what I am missing in explaining the situation).  Thanks.

Restoring the backup will overwrite the data currently on the phone.  (In fact, you have to erase the phone in order to restore an iCloud backup.)  However, you can import the new photos in your camera roll to your computer using your usb cable before doing so, as explained here: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer.  They can then be synced back to your phone using iTunes after restoring the backup.
Another option is to add the new photos to a shared stream as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e35.  The shared stream will reappear on your phone after restoring the backup.  You can then save them back to your camera roll and delete the shared stream.  The only disadvantage to this approach is that photos added to a shared stream will be a somewhat lower resolution than the originals in your camera roll (approx. 3.1-3.5 megapixels).

  • Are there non-public classes in Java SDK?

Or are ALL classes in all packages of the Java SDK public?
I have looked in the sources spot checking and didn't find a non public (default) class.
If all classes are public, why?
There exists a means in Java language to define a class as default ("class MyClass" instead of "public class MyClass") visibility. So why isn't it used by Java SDK (if this is really true)?

I dont know what language you're programming in.
    If you don't specify
    public class
    or
    private class
    the class is "protected".
Read the spec.If you read the spec, you'll see that, with respect to a class:
(per section 6.6.2) Classes from outside the package the class lives in that extend the class have access to protected members.
(per section 6.6.5) Classes from outside the package this thing lives in that extend this class do not have access to default members.
Relevant part of section 6.6.5 (Example: Default-Access Fields, Methods, and Constructors) is:
If none of the access modifiers public, protected, or private are specified, a class member or constructor is accessible throughout the package that contains the declaration of the class in which the class member is declared, but the class member or constructor is not accessible in any other package.
This is default access, not protected access

  • Are there any traning classes for the I-Pod Touch

  • Are there any ipod classes or phone support besides apple?

Like many people I'm trying to get dvd movies to watch on my ipod. I've looked up and down this board for two days which has been somewhat helpful but I have yet to be able to rip my dvd and put it on my ipod. I'm sick of wasting entire days on this problem. I would happily pay for a class or some phone support besides apple which does not support this problem. What the f#!k I've already spent a fortune in time with no end in site. Also it would be nice to get the hang of all the features without having to suffer through the frustrating of having to figure it out one post at a time. I think I would just sell my ipod if it wasnt a gift.

The IPOD was designed and is sold to support video content available through the Apple Store. Apple never said they would support every video converting program made by anyone trying to make a buck or freeware that confuses 98 percent of its users. Getting videos on the IPOD is not hard. For a 40 dollar investment, you won't even need to search on any web site for your answer. And flash the company even has a trial to download and flash they have been in business for over 5 years and have made convertors to support over 265 different devices and lastly they have an actual support site manned by folks that designed the programs. I do understand your frustration, but when you look in the wrong places for so long you will get frustrated. The product is great! And does what it was advertised to do!

  • How much to replace cracked iPad mini first gen under 1 year war?

My iPad dropped on concrete and I'm going back home to toronto next week :(. I plan on buying a MacBook and I guess now replacing my iPad mini first generation. I'm still under warranty for my iPad mini and the warranty expires November 16tth 2014. I don't care about the fee cause I will pay it, but because it is under a one year warranty with no apple care, how much can I expect to pay? The site lists $219 but that's for out of warranty, which my product is not. Will I get a new iPad mini first generation or will they give me the retina one? Or will they completely replace my iPad screen in 3-5 business days? How does this work..thanks.

  • IPad Mini Retina Image Retention

A little back story as I've gotten two iPad Airs that don't do this, and none of my other LCD devices do this.
I ordered 4 128 gig LTE mini retinas for the fam and opened them up.  The first two I noticed ghosting on from the home screen icons after about 2 minutes and the other two were fine.  But the other two had this horrible backlight issue all along the bottoms of the devices that at startup with the Apple logo it looked like a flashlight was coming up from the bottom (backlight bleed).
The devices were swapped by mail and a week later all 4 did the Image retention issue out of the box.  Some with the backlight issue in addition to the IR.  In contacting Apple, I was informed this was standard behavior of the devices and I've seen the notation on their site stating as such.  Yet I've had the genius bar leads say it isn't normal, I've had colleages with retina Macbook pro's had their screens replaced for this issue, and posed the question what do graphic professionals do when they are editing work on their screen and they move windows around and see this ghost imaging.  The answer is they couldn't do this kind of work as photography and video editing require static images to be on screen and I've never seen LCD panels behave this way with such freqency.  So when I'm told this is rare and or acceptable by Apple and this is followed up by that's not normal, it is irritating.  I also know this issue to become worse over time, and Apple also told me it goes away over time.  Another contradiction.
So I'll pose a different question.  How many have recieved devices that don't do this retention issue?  The min is much better than the origional Mini with the resolution increase, I'm sure the lower speaker volume can be fixed in a software update as I would assume they are using the same speakers as the origional mini, and I've seen two iPad mini retinas that didn't do this image retention.  But they are seemingly more rare than I've been lead to believe by Apple and online research.
Can anyone else recommend a solution?

  • IPad mini will not play ANY audio or video

My daughter's 1st gen iPad mini worked great until about 2 months ago. The symptoms are best expressed in a list:
No audio at all. No music, no game audio, no alarms, no ringtones....nothing.
No video will record or play. Both cameras work and can take pictures but neither can record full motion videos. Slow mo video will record (and play), but I'm assuming that is because it is actually a series of pictures and not a video...No video from the Internet or previously recorded video will play.
Siri can't transcribe, so I'm assuming the microphone doesn't work either.
    FaceTime doesn't work.
The oddest part of it is that the Ipad "thinks" it has full functionality. the music files "play" for half a second (no sound) then insta finish and go to the next song, in a turbo silent loop of her music collection. If you hit record on audio or video it will "begin" recording, bit actually not record anything, and in fact freezes up and requires you to leave, then close the app.
Now, we took it to the Apple Store near us and 3 or 4 techs looked at it and all said they've never seen anything like this before. We have tried resetting it and reinstalling it as a new iPad. At the genius bar they plugged it in and did a firmware upgrade and it made no difference.
Did I mention the warranty JUST ran out  a month before this...
Any help at all would be appreciated....

    Try this:
    1. Close all inactive apps. Double-click the Home button and hold apps in the Task Bar down until they all wiggle then tap the minus sign to close apps. Tap the home button to return to Home screen.
    2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.
