Are there other devices that work on Verizon 4G LTE networks?

I've been looking at some awesome phones from Asia that have 4G LTE support (e.g. Elephone P3000s, Xiaomi Redmi Note), but I'm not sure if they would work on the Verizon network.  Is there any way to tell if it will work?  I've seen references to the frequencies supported by the devices, but I can't find any detailed specs of the Verizon network to give me any confidence.

Phones sold outside the USA will operate on a GSM network.  Verizon is a CDMA network.
TThe only exception is the iPhone 6 or Nexus 6 which have radios for all networks.

  • Are there any webcams that work on a dial-up modem with OSX  Tiger?

I've seen some discussions about specific webcams, but my problem is I'm on a dialup modem, without broadband. Though webcams exist that will work adequately for me with OS 9.x, there does not appear to be anything anywhere in the market that will work for with Tiger. The closest are the Logitech cams that stop at 10.2. Anybody have any suggestions?
Powermac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   dial-up modem. not broadband available (I'm in the sticks)

Firewire cameras are natively supported in OSX.
Many USB cameras are supported using 3rd party
    driver
    such as <a</div>

You can also get drivers from ioxperts
    Tim,
Thanks for the quick response. However I was not
asking about digital cameras, I was asking about
    webcams. Am I missing something?
Yes you are missing something. I was talking about
    firewire webcams doh!

I've been following detailed threads on specific
webcams, and have not seen anyone have success for my
    situation.
What do you need a webcam for?
    Tim,
Thanks again. I'm learning a lo already by following your suggestions. I have no high-power needs, just basic video chattiing, but I'm in the sticks out here, on a 56K dial-up modem. Can't even get broadband. Many of the cams I've seen require high-speed internet. I can continue searching.
I will mark this question as answered by you, but if you have any particiular cameras to suggest, I will appreciate your inputs. I had already looked at Macworld without success.

  • Are there any apps that work with the G2 to block calls reliably?

I know this subject has been covered but, I have been using Call Control for years since I bought Pro way back when.  Worked fine up until I got the G2.  Now it says that the only proven method of blocking calls is using MUTE CALLS.  The send to voicemail and pickup/hangup options are NOT recommended.  I have tried a few others, but they all seem to hijack the call screen.  I'm not overly worried about Caller ID features in an app.  I know Call Control is in beta with a new version that shows ID, but it's rough and not aesthetically pleasing.  Blocking texts isn't a big deal for me either.  I know a lot of these apps block texts, but require you to use their messaging portion of their app.  Anyone know of a proven pickup/hangup or send to VM app that works on G2?

Call Control works well, but being a beta tester I can tell you that features are changing.  It's getting better, but even the Premium users are going to have to pay for lookups after x number credits.  IOW, Premium users get a few credits per month and free users have to pay each time.  Until that app decides to do right by the Premium users who have already paid for the app long ago I use Contactive because the ID seems better and more accurate than Call Control, Whitepages Current, Truecaller, LineWhoscall, and CallApp. Contactive doesn't have a direct pickup/hangup nor a send to VM, but the info is more correct and that means I can better block calls based on better info.

  • Are there any scanners that work on a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.7.5?

I was using a CanoScan Lide 35 scanner on my laptop just fine until a couple of weeks ago and now it is hit and miss with it.  I was looking for a scanner that would be compatible with Mac OS 10.7.5 and I haven't found anything that looks like it works.  I don't have time to read every single Google link that comes up and was hoping that someone here could help me out.  I'm looking for a scanner that is on the low end of the price scale but also good enough to do some graphic work.  I'd appreciate any info I can get.  Thanks!
    Erik

You will fnd that most scanners from the name brands work...I have an Epson Photo scan that works just fine with Mac OS X 10.7.5, 10.8.5, and 10.9.2...but I always use the included Image Capture application, found in Finder > Applications.

  • I am having trouble with one of my I Phones subscribing to Match. I have 4 other devices that work alright.  Message on phone states that I am not subscribed.  How can I set up Match on this phone?

I am subscribed to ITunes Match and have 4 devices set up correctly.  I cannot get a 2nd I phone set up, however.  Message reads that I am not subscribed to I Tunes Match.  How can I correct this problem?

You must be signed into the iTunes store on your iPhone with the same iTunes store account you originally used to enable iTunes match. Go to settings > store and confirm it there.

Where did you see that?  Disk Utility should be able to do it, if the empty space is at the end of the drive.  See #4 in Using Disk Utility.
I haven't done it with an encrypted OSX partition, but have with an encrypted Time Machine partition.
In DiskUtility, you see the following message: "Disk Utility cannot modify this disk because it contains CoreStorage physical volumes.  Use command line diskutil instead."
And when I try to resize with diskutil:
    # diskutil resizeVolume /dev/disk0 limits
Volume format does not support resizing
So as far as I can tell, my only option is to decrypt and resize.  Eeeks.  Took 15 hours to encrypt, so will take at least as long to decrypt, and then resize and re-encrypt.  Am looking for a faster solution.

  • Are there other official Apple Apps for my iPhone?

  • Are there other internet browsers that work well displaying websites with a lot of Flash content?

Other than the browser that came on the Samsung Droid Charge....
Are there other internet browsers that work well displaying websites with a lot of Flash content?
    Thanks in advance!

I use Dolphin Browser 6.0. Its faster than 5.0 and has no issues with Flash.  I have used flash and used the Beta 6.0 and now the actual released version. Its the best so far. It has tabs like a normal computer browser and even has a gesture feature to do scrolling.
Others are Firefox which has NO flash. Then there is SkyFire which is ok, uses its servers to compress data and show it on your phone, its quick but I found the quality of images not as good as stock.
Opera Mobile and Mini do the same as skyfire.
I personally just didnt care for Xscope of Miren browsers.  Didnt care for the feel of Xscope and Miren was developed in China and is modeled after Iphone Browser.
Try em all if you want, biggest benefit of the aftermarket browser is you can sync certain accounts (dolphin with google, firefox with firefox) and instead of storing the Cache info using phone memory you can now save the data and the web browser on the SD card.

  • I need to delete files from my iMac hard drive, but not from my other devices (that are sync. to iCloud). How do I do this?? My Mac is a 24-inch Mid 2007 running on Mountain Lion. Thanks for your help.

I have recently recieved messages indicating that my start up disc is almost full. Consequently I need to remove some files from my hard drive. I've backed up my hard drive onto a NAS system & onto an external harddrive. The problem now, is that whenever I try to delete a file, a message comes up saying that if I remove this file from my hard disc it will remove it from all my other devices that are syn. to it. How do I remove a file (movies) from my iMac but not from other devices.
    Thanks for your help
    Robert

You're right - this question has nothing to do with iSync!
You're best bet would be to buy yourself an external Firewire or USB 2.0 hard-disk. There's no way you'll get 150gb onto an 80gb drive - certainly not in an instantly accessible way.
Your new Mac would've had the Migration Assistant appear during the initial OS install. This allows you to connect your new and old Mac together via a Firewire cable and automatically transfer your important files from old Mac to new.
Once you've all the files off your old Mac, re-format it and re-install the OS that came with it. If you boot up the Mac from the OS install DVD, there is an option to re-format the HD and install the OS.
    See this Apple support page:

  • I have 10.6 8 Sno Leopard and trying to download yosemite by it keeps failing.  Are there other operating systems in between that need to be installed first?

I have 10.6 8 Snow Leopard and trying to download yosemite by it keeps failing.  Are there other operating systems in between that need to be installed first?

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.
To install OS X  10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks (free upgrade, but currently unavailable) or OS X 10.10 Yosemite (currently available free upgrade) you need one of these Macs:
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion purchased emailed download code here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory (I strongly advise, at least, 4 GBs of RAM or more)
8 GB or more of available space
    Next,
If you run any older Mac software from the earlier PowerPC Macs, then none of this software will work with the newer OS X versions (10.7 and onward). OS X Snow Leopard had a magical and invisible PowerPC emulation application, called Rosetta, that worked seamlessly in the background that still allowed older PowerPC coded software to still operate in a Intel CPU Mac.
The use of Rosetta ended with OS X Snow Leopard as the Rosetta application was licensed to Apple, from a software company called Transitive, which got bought out, I believe, by IBM and Appe  could no longer secure their rights to continue to use Rosetta in later versions of OS X.
So, you would need to check to see if you have software on your Mac that maybe older than, say, 2006 or older.
Also, check for app compatibilty  here.
    http://roaringapps.com/
If you have any commercial antivirus installed and/or hard drive cleaning apps installed on your Mac, like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, TuneUpMyMac, MacCleanse, etc. now would be a good time to completely uninstall this apps by doing a Google search to learn how to properly uninstall these types of apps.
These types of apps will only cause your Mac issues later after the install of the new OS X version and you will have to completely uninstall these types of apps later.
Once you have determined all of this, you should be able to find the latest versions of OS X by clicking on the Mac App Store icon in the OS X Dock and then login to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID and password and if you purchased a download code, input that code.
You can then begin the download and installation process of installing the newer versions of OS X from the Mac App Store.

Funny you should ask... At about the same time that the Xserve was discontinued, we also lost our channel rep of nearly 14 years. Right now we are not sure who our rep is. I have however, sent this to as many people in Apple that I could think of. And I plan on continuing to reach out to as many as possible.
The sad reality is that this decision is impacting customer deployments and the future of customer installations. Apple strives for market share and loves to tout those numbers. But the numbers we fought for over these last eight years are going to disappear.
As much as this impacts our business, we are making up for it in enterprise deployment of systems. We will survive and lead in our geographic area. I do not fear that. But OS X Server is a UNIX server and with it has come all of the benefits of a UNIX system, including legitimacy in a data center. The Intel Xserve cemented this reality because of its hardware configuration and form factor. Yes, we have G4 and G5s still in service. But those are mostly in all Mac shops that understand the benefits and can work around the buzz word limitations. But fortune 100/500 IT departments did not really get on board until the release of the Intel server.
Still beating the drum to raise awareness. Spread the word and talk to your Apple reps.
Also, ask about the direction that Apple's Enterprise team is going. If the news I hear is correct, then our fears about all things pro and enterprise going away are likely true.

  • If i buy something in the canadian iTunes will it download onto my other devices that are signed into the U.S itunes store?

im trying to downloan a TV series from the Canadian iTunes, but im wondering, if i do that, will i be able to download it on my other devices that are signed into a US itunes store?

Not unless you have them sign into the Canadian store. However, unless you have a Canadian Apple ID, iTunes account and Canadian bank-issued credit card, and Canadian billing address you won't be able to get a thing from the Canadian store. If you meet these requirements anything you buy will be tied to your Canadian Apple ID, not your US one.

  • Is there a way to get idvd on a new macbook? or is there an alternative that works?

I note that my new macbook pro (purchased with a dvd burner specifically) no longer comes with iDVD preloaded. Is there a way to get this, or is there an alternative that works. have checked the app store only to see a number of 'alternatives' that are crucified by the feedback, largely not compatible with mountain lion, etc. This was really dissapointing, to get a new apple computer, still with imovie (great), but without the ability to create a dvd to  share movies with friends and family...any ideas?

There is no good replacement app for iDVD when it comes to ease of use, flexibilithy and professional looking results.
You'll have to purchase an iLife disc and should be aware that the iLife 11 disc only provides iDVD 5-7 themes.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
