Are there parental controls on the nano? Can you block the 'games'?

Help! I am trying to help a friend to young son just received a nano for Christmas. His friends are using the nano more for games than music (why I don't know...) but my friend wants to block the 'games' on her son's new nano before he figures out that there are games. I know you can keep the 'games' off the main menu but can you block them entirely? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

No you can't block the games, and to be honest I don't see the point anyway !
What kind of spoilsport parents buy a present and then wants to disable a harmless set of very simple games.
They are using it for games because it is fun and they are enjoying themselves!!!
Maybe there should be a 'No Fun' option on the iPod, and only allow miserable music to be installed.....

I don't believe that you can "block" the clear history function but you can set the limit for the number of places visited in history.
I don't know what OS or Safari versions you are using but select the appropriate version of "Safari Enhancer" at the authors website.

Can you block the guest account from downloading files?

I need to setup the guest account so that it is able to use the internet, but is unable to download any type of file. i.e. pirated software, music, books, movies, etc. I would also like to disable eternal drives from mounting. My wife and I are looking at doing a coffee shop in a South East Asian country, and we heard that the local cops like to send somebody in and download illegal content and then come and confiscate your computer. So I want to be able to completely block all types of file downloads, and disable the use of usb drives etc.. Thanks

I don't believe there is any way to prevent file downloading if you allow internet access at all. as Király says, whatever they download and install will be limited to the guest account and will go poof on the logout.
however you can disable CD/DVD and external drives access. some of it can be done by enabling parental controls on the guest account. for more options you can install server admin tools

and use workgroup manager to set further restrictions on the guest account.
P.S. workgroup manager can also forbid guest to mount disk images which will effectively make it impossible to install any programs at all even in the guest account.

After You Drag an Icon Into the Dock, Can You Change the Way it Looks?

I work with files that are on a few Windows servers, so I can't change the icons of any files or folders that are on those servers. I've dragged each of the servers' icons into my dock so I can access them quickly, but all the icons in the dock look the same. Is there a way I can change the icons in the dock that represent those servers? There's no "Get Info" for them so you can't copy and paste the same way you can with folder/file icons that reside on your hard drive.
I created an alias (shortcut), copied it onto my desktop, changed that icon, then dragged that into my dock, and then deleted all the original aliases, but it doesn't hold the link, so I want to be able to drag the server icon into the dock and then access that icon and change it.
Any suggestions?

Anything on this yet? The whole "alias/shortcut" thing didn't work. I actually got it to work but after restarting the computer the icons in the dock show as question marks.
Isn't there a resource file or something I can dig into to change those icons in the dock?

Can you block the AppleTV update message?

We have a school full of Apple TVs. Teachers project from iPads with Airplay. When Apple provides an update, the AppleTV brings up a message asking if you want to update - you have to select the answer with the Apple TV remote. The problem is that teachers do not have the AppleTV remotes and AirPlay will not work while the message is up. Don't really want to distribute the remotes. Would rather stop the update message. possible?

The only worakround without hacking (which is not supported, can't be discussed anyway, and not possible on all ATVs) might be to block internet access to the update server from your routers if someone can provide the IP address or range, but this might have other knock on consequences.

Can you block the onscreen keyboard of iphone while using airplay mirroring with apple tv?

i would like to use airplay mirroring for presentations but when logining into say youtube or email i do not want my keyboard being replicated on the big screen. Is there an option just to mirror everything except the keyboard?

mirroring size if perfect, i want to block out the on screen keyboard when loggin into something or any typing what so ever. If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

However many people contact Apple support for there is nothing that either they or you can do.
Apple stores online do NOT provide international shipping, end of story.
If you want an unlocked iPhone 5, you will either have to wait until they are available nearer to you or you need to physically travel to the UK and purchase an unlocked iPhone 5 there. Rememeber though about warranty issues - not international so it means you'll have to physically return to the UK if anything goes wrong with the phone.
If you have a friend travelling to the UK, then they could purchase one for you and then you could put a local Saudi nano sim card in the phone when they become available over there.
Other than that, just be patient and wait until they become available.

The cleanest way is to lock your imge, the draw the cut shape with the Pen Tool, set Fill to None and a suitable Stroke Weight. For rounded paths, you ClickDrag Handles out from carefully chosen Anchor Points all the way round, ending where you started. You may adjust the position of the current Anchor Point while you draw by pressing the Spacebar, which lets you freeze the Handles and move the Anchor Point about; you can Ctrl/Cmd+Z to go back, and you may start over. To practise with the Pen Tool, you may try some (outlined) letters from a font with serifs, or any relevant curved path that resembles the desired cut path for the image.
Or, if you have a distinct colouring where you want the cut path, you may Object>Image Trace the image with the right settings (including creating (stroked) paths, then expand and delete everything but the cut path.

I have 4 latest Macs All have iDVD. The question was not where to get iDVD.

I appreciate your input but it realy does not answer the question. iDVD will soon not be able to work with newer versions of Macs as it has been left behind by Apple!

I imported about 300 RAW images yesterday and worked with them for about an hour. iPhoto locked up on me and I rebooted. After I did the event icon is now gray and it says there are no photos. I know the photos are there. Any idea how I can recover them?

a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card -- I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database
