Are there shortcuts for wireless keyboard w iPad2

Just bot Apple wireless keyboard to use w iPad2. Cannot find any instructions for function keys or keyboard shorcuts.

Super-seed-
As best I can recall, the symbols on the top row of keys are correct for the iPad when they apply.
The arrow keys will move the cursor.  If you hold down the Shift key while moving the cursor, text is highlighted.
Regular Mac text editing seems to work.  When you have text highlighted, Command-X will copy it to the clipboard and delete it.  Command-C will copy it but not delete.  Then when the cursor is at a desired location, Command-V will paste the clipboard contents.
One thing that may be obvious, is that when paired with the keyboard, the usual on-screen keyboard does not appear.  Another thing is that pressing a key on the keyboard will wake up the iPad.  This could be a problem if you are carrying both together.  Keys being bumped will keep the iPad awake, and run down its battery faster than you might expect!

  • Rechargable Batteries for Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

I'm wondering if rechargeable batteries are compatible with the Wireless Keyboard & Mouse, and if so, what types does Apple recommend? I'm constantly going through regular batteries to power these devices. Thanks.

I bought some ordinary rechargable batteries from Maplin Electronics (AA NiMH) and they were perfect (even came with an AC charger) for £9.99 (they supplied 6 and 2 AAA), so perfect for the keyboard.
    Hope that helps.

If you are seldom in a Wi-Fi Network Area, then you can turn off Wi-Fi until you knowingly are in such a Network Area.  You can go through your Applications where you don't really need to know the instant an Update is available and turn off the push update notifications.  You can turn down the screen brightness.  You can set the sleep cycle to 1-min.  You could set your email to check for new messages every 30-min. rather than less than 1 min.  Just some of many steps available.

No updates for pse 2, but pse 2 should run fine on windows 7.
(pse 2 came out long before windows 7, but runs better on vista and 7
than any recent versions of elements, go figure)
    Install as an administrator.
The only exception to this is if your hard drive is bigger than 1tb,

  • Are there any faster wireless routers compared to the Apple Extreme Base Station?

Are there any faster wireless routers compared to the Apple Extreme Base Station?

The speed of wireless is limited by the technology. If you are using 802.11n wireless at 5 GHz, and assuming you have a strong connection, the speed will approach the 270-300 Mbps range. Other routers will achieve similar results if they have 5 GHz capability.
As far an ethernet connection is concerned, the Gigabit ethernet ports on the AirPort Exteme will provide top performance, along with other routers that have Gigabit etherent ports.

my iMac is looking for wireless keyboard but I have a usb and it is plugged in. Right now I am using the one from my old computer. This happened once before and I unplugged/plugged in, restarted. Didn't work. Repeated several times, it finally worked. This time not so much. Any one else have this problem and know how to solve it?

Try turning off Blue Tooth in its respective preference panel. Do not try using the USB keyboard in a USB extender. Connect directly to the computer.

  • Application Shortcuts for Numbered Keyboard

I just replaced my wireless keyboard with a wired one that had a number pad and extra F keys (F13 - F19).  Im trying to make these F keys shortcuts for opening applications.  Ive used the obvious "application shortcuts" in the keyboard control menu, but it doesnt seem to do anything.
Am I missing an obvious step?
    Thanks!

You might try one of these keyboard remapping programs.
    Glad you like it!
Here is my other most favored application. Of course, I haven't checked these out in newer OS's. I'm a Tiger man myself.
iKey is a front end program that simulates typing and mouse movements. I use iKey to remap the Function keys.
"iKey is an automation utility, a program that creates shortcuts to accomplish repetitive tasks. In essence, an iKey shortcut is a little program in its own right, but you don't need to know the first thing about programming to create an iKey shortcut. All you have to do is put together three necessary parts of a shortcut: One or more commands that give the shortcut its functionality, a context in which it runs, and a launcher that defines how the shortcut is activated."

iKey  has a little more function then the previous free version called youpi key. For many years, I used youpi key before switching to iKey.  It works fairly well for me in MAC OS 10.4 although not officially supported.  The youpi key download is hard to find & no longer here.

( Send me a message for a copy of youpi  key. )
    *Examples:*
I have the common programs that I use assigned to function keys. I have F4 assigned to Firefox. When I want to start FireFox, I press F4. When I want to switch to firefox, I press F4! Starting & switching to an application in Mac OS are the same thing in Mac OS.
Here is an example of to assign volumn control to a function key.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10361085#10361085
Here is my script for listing my application folder. I have it assigned to function-key 6.
    tell application "Finder"
open folder "Applications" of startup disk
       select Finder window 1
       set bounds of Finder window 1 to {-3, 44, 691, 545}
       --set position of Finder window 1 to {33, 44}
       set position of Finder window 1 to {60, 45}
       activate
    end tell
The second portion of this script was generated in the script editor record mode. After I recorded the script and did some editing, I copy the script to ikey/youpi key.

  • Preview support for wireless keyboards

    Hi . . . .
    A simple question.
Is there a keyboard command to preview video and/or audio if you have one of the Apple wireless keyboards (that do not have a numeric keypad) ?
Or am I destined for a life time of sub menu slavery if I need to preview audio (which is 99% of what I do !).
    Cheers for any help.

    Help !
Ok, I went to the Sebastien Perier website . . . and found the keyboard shortcuts text file, it was straightforward enough to change 'Audio Preview' to the period button on my wireless keyboard (below: italicised and in bold) - after first making sure nothing else was using the period button.
I then tried the same with 'Preview' (below: italicised and in bold) - but regardless of what I assign the command to (currently in this example F5) it won't work ? I am also making sure what I try is not in use by anything else, and all the obvious stuff like relaunching AE after each edit of the text file . . . . but nothing will seem to work, whatever key (or combination of keys) I try AE does nothing when I relaunch AE and press the key/s ?
    Anyone got any clues ?
Here's the section I am editing.

  • Wrist rest for Wireless Keyboard?

Now that I've switched from a PC to an iMac with the Apple Wireless Keyboard, my old wrist rest is much too thick. Can you recommend a wrist rest that does the job yet is suitably thin to match the low profile of the front of the Apple Wireless Keyboard?

We do have another option. Starting tomorrow, we'll be liquidating our "B-Stock" (or "factory second") imperfect large wrist rests. These units tend to have rough edges and we can't sell them at full price. If you want to buy one and trim it to size, you can use coupon code 2NDGRADE at Amazon (MurrayE has the link above) starting on 9 December 2011 and get one for only $7.99.
Since there's not an easy way to contact forum members, just post a note here if you're interested, turn on email notifications for thread updates, and we'll post a message when the wrist rests for Magic Trackpad are available.
    Thanks everyone!

  • Fixes for Wireless Keyboard Blue Screen Crashes - POST HERE

This thread is for posting possible SOLUTIONS and FIXES to the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issue that occurs when using Boot Camp on Windows 7 with the Apple Wireless Keyboard.
SYMPTOMS: When using the Apple Wireless keyboard with Windows 7 (for example), you'll often get a BSOD upon first keystroke when coming out of sleep or an idle period.
SETUP: Boot Camp 3.1, Snow Leopard, Windows 7 on a fairly current iMac (2009).

Okay, I am having the exact same problem as the rest of you. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Mac Mini and when my Apple Wireless keyboard falls asleep, pressing a key on it causes a Windows 7 BSOD. None of the previously mentioned fixes has been helpful. I think the reason that they haven't been helpful is the weird nomenclature across all the different windows versions. For instance, my Windows 7 doesn't have a "Device Manager", instead it's "Devices and Printers". There are also no "Bluetooth Radios" it's "Generic Bluetooth Adapter". But I digress.
Turning off power management through the bluetooth options definitely did not help me out at all. The BSOD just kept on showing up.
Okay, so now I may have found an actual fix to this problem. I want to be very specific about exactly what I did and how everything is named and set up in my Windows install.
First, from the start menu I selected "Devices and Printers". This opened a window with the following path laid out in the address bar "Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers >". From here I clicked on an icon of a keyboard that was named "Apple Wireless Keyboard". This opened a new window named "Apple Wireless Keyboard Properties". I clicked on the "Hardware" tab. There are four "Device Functions:" listed: "Bluetooth HID Device", "HID Keyboard Device", "HID-compliant consumer control device", and "HID-compliant consumer control device".
I click on "HID Keyboard Device" and then click the "Properties" button. Another window opens. Here it says the Driver Provider is "Apple". I now click the "Uninstall" button. It asks me if I'm sure I want to do this and I say yes. It asks me if I want to restart the computer and I say yes.
After restart, It asks me if I want to restart again and I say yes. Now, when I go back into the "Apple Wireless Keyboard Properties", there is still an "HID Keyboard Device" driver. However, when I check its properties it now says the Driver Provider is "Microsoft".
Everything seems to be working now. There seems to be no BSOD. The special function keys on the keyboard like volume control don't actually control the volume now. They just act like regular function keys. That may be an issue for you, but not for me. I just want to check to see how my websites render in IE and not have to restart windows every 15 minutes.

  • "how to" question for wireless keyboard and/or wireless Mighty Mouse

I just purchased a wireless keyboard and a wireless Mighty Mouse (yesterday)
and notice I cannot use the calculator 'widget' in my Dock
    1. the number keys on the new keyboard do not activate the corresponding numbers on the widget
    and
    2. the mouse does not activate the widget numbers when I click on them, either
does anyone know if the calculator can work with these 2 new accessories?
(if not, is there another, similar, calculator I can use now..?)
    thank you for your time

    Hello d:
The calculator works just fine with my Apple BT devices. I doubt if the problem is with the devices.
Try deleting the calculator widget from the dashboard (when dashboard is open). Then add it back.

You can use the built-in Notes app to write and store.  You can get more sophisticated writing apps from the App Store.  Browse a list here:  http://appshopper.com/search/?search=Text+writer
