Are there some fundamental resource limits to creating channels ?

In both CS5 (PC) and CC(MAC) I am trying to edit some fairly large multi layer panoramas -- in the 120 MP range.  I am trying to generate Luminance masks to help with the blending but after creating 10 or so masks I get some interesting errors like "no pixels selected" or "Intersect command not available"
If I down sample the panorama to something very small the action works fine.
When I monitor RAM usage on the computer it does not seem like I am hitting any hard limit.  Looks like PS is in the 7-10GB RAM range.  I have 16 GB of RAM on the MAC and 24 GB on the PC with sufficient swap space.
I have had no real luck googling this
Cheers
Eric

There were Problems in CS6 when first released that messed up actions and scripts (automated processes).  Happened with automations that switch between documents in their processing. Photoshop processes were not interlocked  like they should have been. Process were executing in parallel at times during a document switch not yet complete a Photoshop commands would fail with messages like no pixels selected or command not available etc for at the time there was no current document for the active document was just closed and Photoshop was switching to the previous open document to make it active adain.
That problem was fixed in the first CS6 update.  So problems like you write you have happened in the past. However I have not seen any like that reported lately on the Adobe feedback web site. But I have not been look are the site.  I only report problems there now and well just check the see if the acknowledge my bugs.  They even fixed  one I reported so far is one fixed three acknowledged. Acknowledged Bugs can go un-fixed release after release.  One bug I reported that was acknowledged was introduced in CS4 is still in CC 2014. Actually it two bugs reported as one, So Adobe has only fixed one of four for me.

I'm burning dvd's that won't play on a regular dvd player.  What am I doing wrong?  They play fine on computers but not on dvd players.  Are there some simple things to check to figure this out?  (Sorry, I know this has been asked many times).  Created in DVD studio pro.

    Hi
Just my thoughts to add to the excellent answers above.
    • BRAND of DVD used - Matters when doing Video-DVDs
Memorex, NoName etc cheap brands usually do NOT work
I only Use Verbatim (more organic dye in these)
    • Type of DVD - matters
    - DVD+/RW - usually results in problems
    - DL-DVDs are more problematic than SL-DVDs
    - DVD+R are a more modern sort - BUT PLAYS BADLY or not at all on older DVD-players
    I only use DVD-R
    • BURN SPEED - matters
    - Best in iDVD app - IS NOT BEST at all but results in lot's of Burn Errors = Doesn't play well or at all
I set this down to x2 or x4 max.
    Yours Bengt W

  • HT4410 I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7

Dear Apple. I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7 bootcamp install download from Apple

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

Are there some movies situ Spanish subtitles in US I.tunes store?

In order to purchase apps from the U.S. iTunes Store, you  need to 1) Have a valid billing address in the U.S., 2) Have a credit card billed to that address or have iTunes gift cards purchased in the U.S. and 3) be physically located in the U.S. at the time of purchase.

  • Are there some gravitation games for s10-3t

ipad and ipod touch have some games which can use the gravitation function. dose the s10-3t have those games? thanx.

Agreed. You have to remember everything is drive by economics in our capitalistic society so games are written for the OS that has largest market penetration and most likely to return huge profit and currently that is Windows. That is also why one of the most famous game programmers, John Carmack, just recently rewrote some of his games for iPhone/ipod touch and made quite a nice profit from his own account.
"Carmack said that there was a lot of "hand wringing" initially over the idea of spending the company's own money (there was no publisher to help fund development) on making games for the iPhone. Doom Resurrection, when it hit, was probably the most expensive game to develop for the iPhone, Carmack says.
"It did really well for us," he said. "It was Wolfenstein Classic that made the argument for iPhone development for me. We made quite a bit of money off of that."

That is not to say that Mac's can't be used as game machines since Apple actually has a webpage dedicated exactly to this you can check out:
    http://www.apple.com/games/hardware/
So in a nutshell to answer the OP question the reason you see fewer games on mac's is because it's not profitable. As you can see if there is no technical limitations writing games like Doom3 for iphone there is none for the mac.
I know I've personally not bought a macosx game since I also have a pc and use that for games so I'm not helping the business case for more games for mac. Vote with your pocket and go out and buy more mac only games if you want to see more for the mac.

  • Hello, are there many others having problems with creating Genius Playlists from their iPhone 5's

    Hello People,
are there many others experiencing problems creating Genius Playlists from their iPhone 5's???
I have a 64GB Black iPhone 5 and a 32GB White iPhone 5, I have recently performed a fresh install (wiped phone memory and installed Apps individually again) yet even after this and no less then several calls to Apple I am still unable to create a genius playlist on either phone. The message I receive after hitting the Genius "star" is "The operation couldn't be completed. Operation timed out" Operation timed out."
I have tried this also on 3G and receive the same message........

I wish Apple would have provided more detail on how it worked. I wouldn't have posted this if I new that SMS & Mac Calling had nothing to do with Bluetooth pairing.
You mean like this? Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite
Please note how Apple articulates this though.
    Check your settings
Check the following settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn on Wi-Fi if necessary.
Make sure your iOS devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network by going to Settings > Wi-Fi and comparing the name of the network each is on.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth if necessary.
Go to Settings > General > Handoff & Suggested Apps and make sure Handoff is on.
Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.
Sometimes things have to be explained in more detail for the general consumer who has been conditioned for decades to think about wireless  cellphone audio / light data to [anything other device else] connectivity in a certain fashion. That is to say Bluetooth dependent ...
For the non-technical person, which overwhelmingly many Apple users are, they would see that bulleted point and think if Bluetooth is not paired and active, then they would not received the full scope of their Continuity features.
It would have been better for the copywriter who wrote this to (*) footnote this entry and explain that while Bluetooth recognition may be necessary between Yosemite and iPhone, SMS Push to iMessage and Mac Calling does not require an actively paired connection as these functions are dependent on iCloud and both devices being registered on the same WiFi network.
Thank you to all who helped me get my mind around and figure this out.
It has also opened my eyes to how iCloud has become a critical link in Apple's overall walled garden  and business strategy.

  • Are there some simple start up instructions for a first time user of Lion Server?

Our small office has been using MobileMe to share one central calendar on a mac mini with 4 users MBPro users.  We were also using a 3rd party application (Address Book Server (ABS)) to share a central Address Book contact database with the same 4 users.  It was all working fine.  Then we upgraded all our systems to Lion and iCloud.  Calendar sharing works fine, but it broke our contact sharing.  ABS used the old sync capability.  Now all our contacts are on iCloud, and they won't sync anymore.
Does anyone know if there is a way to share contacts among several users in iCloud?  (I haven't found one.)
We are now considering Lion Server, but all we need it for is sharing contacts (shared calendars under iCloud works fine).
Can we install Lion Server for just contacts and continue to use iCloud for calendar sharing?
Is there some simple Start up documentation available for Lion Server that I can read before I jump into it?
How much time is it really going to take to install and manage a server system?
We are not IT professionals.  Just a small office of professionals, who want the conveninece of shared calendars and shared contacts.  We all have our own calendars and contacts as well, and we want to be able to see them on all our devices: MBPros, iPhones, iPads etc.
Thanks so much for your help.

You can use Lion Server in place of the MobileMe/iCloud account. That would be your best bet. Lion Server has built into it an address book server and a calendar server which would take the place of what you are currently using.
Lion Server is designed to be quite easy to setup and run. It is pitched as being meant for people who "don't have an IT Department." Honestly, most of it is just on/off switches. If you have a Mac Mini and all of your users are on their MacBook Pros, you pretty much have the hardware necessary. Assuming all of your machines can run Lion, you should be good to go.
The most technical you might have to get is to get a domain name from some place like godaddy.com. The Server App actually walks ou through the whole setup process step-by-step. Not to mention that there is a vibrant community of users to be help out. And once it is up and running, there is very little you should have to do to it.
There are a lot of technical components to any server platform, and Apple is no exception, however they do a good job at hiding it. And at $49, you do not have much to lose. Plus, you only really need to use the components you want. If all you want in address book server and ical server, then just use those. You find you want to start sharing documents, turn on file sharing. It is up to you. Don't feel pressured to have to use every component.
Apple has posted they "Advanced Administration Guide" which has a lot of good information in it, and it is searchable. Check it out: https://help.apple.com/advancedserveradmin/mac/10.7/

  • Are there any WLST 11g Scripts to create an OSB domain?

All the ones I can find (forums, blogs, etc.) are for 10g. Things have changed since then, it seems. For example, most scripts contain something like:
    addTemplate(workshop_home + '/common/templates/applications/workshop_wl.jar')
    addTemplate(wl_home + '/common/templates/applications/wls_webservice.jar')
    addTemplate(osb_home + '/common/templates/applications/wlsb.jar')
Since Workshop no longer exists, this fails.
    11g doco is sadly lacking...
    Thanks for any help.
    Alph

I've also been attempting to create and configure an OSB 11gR1 domain using WLST and am also hitting some issues when adding the extention templates.
I think I've identified the required templates as the following:-
    ${middleware.home}/oracle_common/common/templates/applications/jrf_template_11.1.1.jar
    ${osb.home}/common/templates/applications/oracle.soa.common.adapters_template_11.1.1.jar
    ${wls.home}/common/templates/applications/wls_webservice.jar
    ${osb.home}/common/templates/applications/wlsb_base.jar
    ${osb.home}/common/templates/applications/wlsb.jar
The correct resources appear to be added but many of the deployments are wrongly targetted when using an admin + cluster topology.
I've found that the templates contain dependency references in the template-info.xml and dependencies are implicitly included when you use WLST addTemplate(). The wlsb.jar template is dependent on the other 4 templates so you can just add wlsb.jar and the others get pulled in for you or explicitly add them all (starting with the children otherwise you will see a template already added error).
I’ve tried various combinations of the 5 templates and essentially what I see is that the same apps and resources are always included but with seemingly random (and wrong!) targeting.
One thing I have noticed is that the domain template framework seems to have been changed between 10gR3 and 11g. The most relevant difference (for this issue) appears to be addition of “config groups” configuration files. I can’t find any docs on these but they appear to group applications, libraries and other resources according usage and/or deployment requirements e.g. OSB-ADMIN-APPS, OSB-ADMIN-AND-CLUSTER-APPS, WLS-WEBSERVICE-MAIN-APPS etc and I imagine that they are used during domain configuration to target apps at the correct servers and clusters. Perhaps some additional WLST function calls are required to ensure these are applied correctly?
If I use the domain configuration wizard then I can successfully create the domain so this is an option, but we'd rather have a fully scripted and repeatable domain creation process if possible. I expect that the config wizard must be using the same templates so there must be a way to script this?
    Thanks in advance

  • Are there some Golden Rules about tablespace design?

    hi gurus
I am working for an assignment about tablespace design for our new BOSS system whic is a HEAVE OLTP system。
I dont know how to decide how many tablespacesare are going to be there.
According my existing experience,I think i should design tablespace according to these ruels:
    1) put Big tables and Small tables in differents tablespaces
    2) put tables and indexes in differents tablespaces
    3) seprate frequent updated tables to differents tablespaces
    4) put comparatively static(means not updated frequently) tables together in one or two tablespaces
    5) .....
And what else rules you may add to? Thank u in advance
Edited by: KevinMao on Nov 10, 2009 1:25 AM

After viewing some links from google i would like to sum-up Golden Rule for tbs design:
    1. Always create locally managed tablespace (extent management).
    2. Never create tablespace with hundreds of small datafiles for avoid slower checkpointing.
    3. Segment types that are used the same way should be stored together.
    4. The system should be designed for its most common usage:
    5. Separate areas should exist for exceptions.
    6. Contention amoung tablespaces should be minimized.
    7. The data dictionary should be isolated.
    8. Always give a proper name to tablespace; so that it may easy to know that what this tablespace contains.

There are several sample portals which you can deploy to see what they do. Then you can customise the one you like or build one from scratch.
