Are there unlocked iPhone 4S in the retail stores?

Hi. I live in WA, and my unlocked iPhone 4s I ordered online, but I need another one also. When I was in LA my friend went to the retail store and bought one without staying in a crazy-long line. I'm going to Portland, OR, and the OR state doesn't has a sell-taxes. So, I wonder, are there unlocked iPhone 4s in not-huge apple retail stores as in Portland? And I also heard that there are only black iPhones  are sold in retail stores. Is it true (my friend wanted black one so he didn't asked are there white)? So I don't really want to track 2 weeks my iPhone and want to buy it in retail store.

You can only buy an unlocked iPhone from an official apple store or at apple.com.

I'm travelling to Orlando, FL (US) in January and would like to buy an unlocked iPhone 4S in Apple's retail store. Is that possible?

Yeah, the problem is that buying from Apple Online store is not really an option...
I live in Brazil and the online store will only accept american credit cards.
Would you be willing to check it on a retail store near you? I would be so thankfull!
    Anyways, I'm glad you answered.

are unlocked iphones sold in the apple store factory unlocked?

Yeah just tested it, change the tmobile to iPhone tarrif and it's unlocked. So Peter was right it is unlocked if you buy from the Apple store. Plus I thought it would be unlocked just needed conformation, like I said the sales guy said it is unlocked to all networks.
    Thanks everyone.

If T-Mobile in the US, while your phone will activate/work, you won't have FaceTime, MMS or 3G. T-Mobile, in the US, is not a supported iPhone carrier, thus all features of the iPhone may not be available. T-Mobile's 3G network, in the US, is not compatible with the iPhone.

  • Is unlocked iphone from UK apple retail store the same as from online store

Today I bought an unlocked iphone 4 from my local UK Apple Retail store. I explained to the store assistant that as I work abroad for several months at a time I needed to be able to use my iPhone with both a UK carrier( not sure which one to go with yet), and a local carrier when in another country, therefore I wanted an unlocked sim free one. I bought the 16gig version and payed the full £499 for it, however, when I got home and looked at the receipt it also lists a "No Contract Sim" with a part number but with a unit price of £0.00.
So I am confused..! Is this the same as the sim free iphone available from the online store and can I use it with any carrier by swapping the sim card depending on my needs? Or, is this some other kind of sim card that will lock the phone once I activate it the first time. I had assumed that by paying the full price I was getting an unlocked sim free phone as described on the UK online store description. If it is not, I will need to return it and order one online.

The iPhone could be purchased at full price only at retail stores not online at least in US:
This FAQ can be found on the US site with a little digging (read on to know why digging was necessary)
"Is a new contract with AT&T required?
A new 2-year commitment with AT&T is required when starting your purchase online. Additionally, the Apple Retail Store offers a no-commitment iPhone for the full retail price."
This lines above are the info that you can read in a pop-up FAQ that will appear if you click on one nicely hidden FAQ link, reading: "Is a new contract with AT&T required?", located on the bottom left corner of the ordering process area.
What is misleading is that the FAQs on the landing page where users can select a 3GS or a 4, the FAQ for "Can I buy an iPhone without an AT&T contract?" is answered with a straight "No. iPhone requires a two-year AT&T wireless service contract." Such statement applies only to online store purchases and that's a piece of info that only a more careful, meticulous and OCD reader may find out since another FAQ tucked away elsewhere (read below) says you can buy iPhones at full price by going to any Apple Retail Store.
There is no way for me to give you a direct link to the other FAQ stating that, because it's accessible only during a purchasing session, therefore you'll have to go through the few steps below if you want to read that FAQ by yourself:
    1) Go to the online store,
    2) Select the iPhone image to start the buying process,
    3) Once on the page where you can choose the 3GS or the 4, select one,
    4) On the next page you should see 3 FAQ links (gray text, the bottom left corner),
    5) Click the one that reads: "Is a new contract with AT&T required?",
    6) Read the FAQ in the pop-up that will open after you clicked on the link.
There are no further details about unlocking, jail-breaking or the fact that the iPhone 4 uses a micro SIM instead of a standard or mini SIM card so you may want to ask more info in that regard to a Genius at the Retail Store to learn more about how you can buy an iPhone and use it with another carrier outside US.
If UK and US sales work following the same rules, your iPhone bought online should be carrier-locked, so if you've got one that was unlocked and contract-free from the UK store then either you are lucky guy, or sales in UK are more flexible than US. In both cases what would count is that your phone is unlocked, now the info you may want to get is simply what SIM and Carrier services will work on your iPhone when you are in US.
Best to you and I hope some of these info will help you. Good luck!

  • I'm visiting Boston from Europe and was wondering if I could buy an unlocked iPhone 5 at a retail store.

So the thing is that I need an iPhone 5 that I can use in my country (Iceland). It's so much cheaper for me to buy it in the USA than here at home.
Is Apple selling completely unlocked iPhone 5's at the retail stores and if yes, how much are they selling them at?
    Best regards,
    Gunnar - Iceland

Apple has not even announced when or if they will release an unlocked iphone 5 in the U.S.

  • Buying a factory unlocked iPhone 5s in the Apple store?

I live in Ireland but I'll be visiting Boston in February. I was wondering if I can buy a factory unlocked iPhone 5s in store without having to order online. Also, I've seen a lot of opposing agruments about whether or not "unlocked" T-Mobile iPhones are actually unlocked. If they've worked for anybody please let me know, thanks.

However; Apple cannot promise that the LTE bands will work in Ireland for your device.
We cannot make promises; or say it will...We can only state that the bands /MAY/ work. And again your warrenty cannot be carried out OOW or in warrenty in your country

  • Are there advantages to buying from the Apple Store v authorised reseller?

I am planning on buying a new Macbook Pro as an upgrade from my macbook. I bought my last 2 Apple computers from my local Apple Premium reseller and have been happy with their service but I was thinking of taking a trip up to London to the Regent Street Apple Store just to take a look. Is there any advantage to buying direct from Apple, either online or in the Store, over buying from a reseller. Is the aftersales service any better if anything goes wrong?

No big differences, overall. Warranty coverage is the same. Return policy for DOA machines may differ (Apple will give you a brand new one, resellers may try to repair it). Apple Store stock tends to be fresher than most resellers (i.e. an MBP from the Apple Store is more lkely to have Leopard pre-installed, vs. a "drop-in" upgrade DVD).
    Hope this helps...

  • HT1688 Do you sell just the iPhone 5 in the retail stores at all?  All that I see online are 5c, 5s or 4s's.

Do you offer the iPhone 5 in stores or online?  All that I see are the 4s's, 5c's and 5s's.

The iPhone 5 was replaced by the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.  You can try to find the iPhone 5 somewhere else, but Apple is not selling it on their site anymore.

  • Will a factory unlocked iphone 4s from the apple retail store come with a simcard.

Will a factory unlocked iphone 4s from the apple retail store come with a simcard.Furthermore will my new phone need to be activated in store or can i do it myself

No. You'll need to get a SIM from your carrier. Since you won't have a SIM, there will be no way to activate the iPhone at the store, so you'll have to do it yourself.
    Regards.

  • Is there any way to unlock iPhone besides using the slide?

Is there any way to unlock iPhone besides using the slide? My vision impaired Dad is slowly learning to feel his way to the approximate position of the slide and learn how to flick his thumb to unlock the iphone. Is there any other way to unlock an iPhone from sleep?

If you activate "Voiceover", your Dad can use the voiceover gestures to control the phone. These are different from normal gestures. For example, Unlock iPhone: Select the Unlock switch, then double-tap the screen.
To learn about voiceover, see this: http://www.apple.com/iphone/how-to/#accessibility.using-voiceover

  • Are there any way to recover the deleted images form iPhone 4

    hello guy's
are there any way to recover the deleted images form iPhone 4
note : i haven't make any copy of the photo in my pc so i relay need for them
    plz help

The Camera Roll is for temporary storage as with any other digital camera. Although photos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, photos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer ASAP. If you didn't sync your iPhone with iTunes since these photos were captured by your iPhone and the photos in the Camera Roll weren't imported by your computer, the photos are gone.
Depending on how wealthy you are, you can contact a data recovery service to see if they can recover deleted photos from an iPhone's flash drive, but you will pay an arm and a leg for this. Such a data recovery service is not cheap and with no guarantee the data will be recoverable.
