You can buy and use an Airport Express as an extender for your wifi signal. Generally, the Express would be located halfway between the Extreme and the area that you want to extend the wifi signal to. The Airport and Extreme must be in radio range of each other to be able to perform this function.

Is there a FAQ for Airport Extreme/Time Capsule & wireless printing?

I have an Airport Extreme Wireless "N" with Time Capsule and want to set up a printer. To my dismay, I cannot find the booklet that came with my Time Capsule and just need to know the basics of setting up the printer too the Wireless router (airport+time capsule).
Sorry to ask such a dumb question, but can I just plug the printer in to the USB port on the wireless router? Or should I plug it into the wired router that the airport router plugs into?

You plug it into the USB port on the Time Capsule.

Firmware update 7.4.2 for Airport Extreme not good for networked HD LaCie

I updated yesterday my Airport Extreme first generation to 7.4.2 and I started getting issues with my network HD drive LaCie 500GB connected to the AE via USB port.
It works, but suddenly gets disconnected and unmounted, creating issues for time machine and all the applications which are storing info on the networked HD.
Further more, if I open the Airport Utility, the information about the AE won't load untill I completely shut down or disconnect (plug out the USB cable) the LaCie HD.
Only way to get the HD back online and visible is to shut it down and restart it. Quite annoying. I have NO ISSUE now that I downgraded back to the previous 7.4.1 firmware.
Anybody has same issue? I am using the AE in N mode 5 Ghz. Right now I am not upgrading to 7.4.2.

I had the same problem with wireless TM backups loosing their connection to an AEBS-N running 7.4.2 with a 1.4TB Seagate FreeAgent airdisk. Restarting the cable modem and AEBS did not work. Reinstalling 10.5.7 did not work.
What did work was reverting to firmware 7.4.1 on the AEBS-N.
Here is the TM Buddy log before with 7.4.2 which shows the reoccurring TM backup failure 19 and the disconnect -36:

Is there any antenna for airport express?

I think i´m having problemas with the signal of my airport express and all the readings i made always refer antennas for airport extreme base station.
My question is, if there is any antenna for airport express that don´t needs an extreme base station.

Two quick things to check using AirPort Utility on both devices:
On your "main" base station
Open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab/label located just below the row of icons
There must be a check mark next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Click Update to save your changes.
If you don't see this option, you likely have an older AirPort Extreme that does not support the "extend" feature. Please clarify on the version that you have
On your AirPort Express
Open AirPort Utility - click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Name = Same name as your main network
Check mark next to "Allow wireless clients"
Wireless Security = Same setting as your main router
Wireless Password = Same password as your main network
Confirm Password
Click Update to save settings
If you do not see the "Extend a wireless network setting", you may have an older AirPort Express, or if you are sure that you have a newer 802.11n model, try holding down the option key while you click on the selection box to see if the "Extend" setting will appear.
Assuming no major obstructions between the main router and area that needs more wireless coverage, a good starting location for the Express would be a point that is approximately half the distance between the main router and the area that needs more coverage.
As I said, this feature works very well if major obstructions do not come into play.

One Possible Fix for AirPort Extreme 7.6 Upgrade

Has anyone else found that the AirPort stopped working as a DNS server after the 7.6 upgrade? Make sure the first DNS server in the AirPort Utility Internet TCP/IP configuration points to the DNS server for the external Internet provider. The local network address for the Airport (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x) used to work for the first entry, but it fails now under the 7.6 firmware.

I am having a similar problem.
The difference is, that after the update to 7.6 my AExtreme restarted, but never came back in airport Utility. The AExtreme continuesly shows an orange light (according to the manual: completing a start-procedure) but that it has been doing for 30 minutes and still doesn't show up. I have tried a "soft"-reset (holding the reset button for 10 seconds) but nothing happened. I tried a "hard"-reset (disconnecting power for 15 minutes, holding reset button while reconnecting power) but still the same outcome. It starts with a green light just for a moment, but after that is turns orange again and stays like that.
Any help is greatly appreciated!! Because the mentioned solutions are not possible, as my Airport Extreme doesn't show in the Utility.
My Networkconfig:
An Airport Extreme Base Station (this is the one updated)
An Airport Express (this is blinking Orange, but is also not vissible in Airport utility anymore)
Imac 24" connected with cable
MacMini connected with cable
and a couple of wireless devices (Iphone, Ipad, MacBookPro)

Two days ago I was sent a notice of an update being available for my new 5s and Ipad Air. I tried to do the update and it wouldn't allow me to and ever since I can not acsess the internet on either device.

Please help! Two days ago I received a message stating that a new update was available for my new 5s and IPad Air. I attempted to do the update and wasn't allowed to. Since then I am not able to access the internet on either device. It has been 2 days. These are very expensive paper weights that are only 2 weeks old!

These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

I have an airport extreme with updated software(latest) and I setup an Ipad 3 on it with ios6(wirelessly). You can access the airport to update it with the utitlity app on an ios device, mac, or pc. I dont think it has anything to do with the airport software. Did you try rebooting the airport, then trying again?

Nothing called "aoss" is on an AirPort Extreme.
Using the Add Wireless Clients feature under the Base Station menu (top of screen) in AirPort Utility - Manual Setup, there are provisions to add a new wireless client using a PIN or allowing the device to connect on "First Attempt".
Whether this is compatible with "aoss", I cannot say. Please let us know about your findings if you try this.

Mountain Lion already has the most recent, updated version of AirPort Utility installed on your Mac. The version on your CD is out of date, so you can trash the CD.
Look in Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility.

I buyed from Apple Store Online the Extend Air Omni for Airport Extreme, but now my Airport Extreme don't have a antenna port.
It's possible ?

Only the M8799LL/A & M9397LL/A models of the AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBS) provide an external antenna port which you can plug the ExtendAIR Omni.
