Are they compatable with a QuickSilver...

Is the new Airport Extreme compatable with my Poweer PC G4 QuickSilver 733 MHz Mac?

The Power Mac G4 Quicksilver is compatible with the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), but it is only compatible with the 802.11b AirPort card so you will not be able to take full advantage of the AEBSn's "g" or "n" speeds.

  • VLANS and WLANS are they compatable

    Hi
We currently have a campus wide switched network consisting of Cisco 6500 and 5000 series catalyst switches in the core feeding 1900 series catalyst switches at the edge.
We use DHCP and VMPS to determine IP address and VLAN information for each host as they are connected to the switch and booted.
We have just purchased a range of aironet devices including access points, bridges and client adaptors.
My question is. Are the access point and bridges VLAN aware will I be able to seamlessly intergrate them into the network. Also would I be able to use a pair of bridges as an emergency repair option?? The senario is optic fibre trunk between 6500 and 1900 switch is dug up will take days for permanent repair, solution to install WLAN point to point link between buildings and use this for the trunk link. Is this possible ??

Current APs are not VLAN aware. Without an additional mechanism, all of your wireless users will be on the same VLAN. (Which ideally should be isolated from all others and connected through a router or firewall to allow you to better address security on the WLAN.)
A pair of 350 bridges can serve as a backup to a copper or fiber trunk - if it is appropriate to have a half-duplex connection with a maximum of 6Mbps throughput serve as a backup.
    Other options include:
    - 802.11a with a maximum actual throughput of 35Mbps in proprietary mode. The max. distance is less than 500 meters.
    - Bonded triple-bridge config to get an aggregate through put of 18Mbps using EtherChannel.
    - 5.8GHz equipment at 10 to 430Mbps full-duplex (a much more expensive option).
    - Free Space Optics at 10 to 622Mbps with strict distance limits.

Apparently not any longer. this link takes me to a page telling me 3.6 isout of date and then that the newone isn't compatible with my operating system. but i think it means with my PowerPC processors.
Surely there are copies of 3.6 in the server somewhere. i know i'm behind, but i'm not a Luddite. it's just that this PowerPC mac still works great for the stuff i do.

  • DC jacks; are they compatible with all 3000 series

I would like to know if all the DC power jacks are the same or compatible for all the lenovo 3000 series notebooks?
I have a lenovo 3000 C100 notebook, and the problem that I am experiencing is that the unit dose not power up when
the power button is press. here's the rundown of the problem; when I plug the power cord onto the laptop the indicator
ligth for the power is on, but when I press the power button to on, the power indicator turns off and the laptop does not
turn on at all, the only time the power indicator turns on is when I disconnect the power cord from the laptop and plug it
back on. I also try it with the battery without the AC cord, the indictor lights for both power and battery is on, but when the
the power button is pressed both indicator lights will flash (one at a time ) for at least 2 seconds and does not come back
on at all and the laptop still does not power up at all. I have also tested the unit with another different battery and AC power
cord from a same working 3000 C100, still the same issues. so I figure that it has to be the power DC jack, check lenovo
website, but found none for the C100. so I want to know if other DC jack from let's say the T4 or T60, Thinkpad can be use
as replacement part for my unit. my laptop is only a year and a half old. I would be very gratefull for any kind of help.
    Thanks

there are not many motherboard for Lenovo 3000 laptops on sale on the web, the only place where you can get it, is through Lenovo parts service... i would suggest you sell your laptop for parts and then get a new laptop, it would be probably be more economical that way then getting a new motherboard through Lenovo.

  • 08 and 09, are they compatable.

i heard that you cant view photos burned or copied from iphoto09 on iphoto08. is that true? can 09 be viewed on any computer you can put a disk in, including windows.

iPhoto '08 and '09 libraries are different - '08 can not read the '09 library - '09 can read and convert on '08 library - but '08 will no longer be able to use it
For photos burned to a CD/DVD it Depends on how you "burn" the photos
if you use the share ==> burn ( or the burn button) they are only usable by iPhoto
If you export for iPhoto to a folder and burn the folder from the finder then any machine (windows/Mac/Unix etc) can use the photos

  • MACBook Pro and Aperture Academic. Are they compatable?

will a MACBook Pro and aperture work together. The software states that the hardware is inadequate?

Since the push is on to release a Universal Binary, and the new MacBook Pro is the only Intel Pro machine out, it seems the answer is onviously yes.
In the demo/preview of the Aperture 1.1 I went to on Tuesday, it was noted by the presenter that one upgrades to Ap 1.1 by having 1.0 installed, then running Software Update.
He then acknowledged that the original Aperture 1.0 installer disk would not normally install on the newer MBP - "we will have a way to allow an initial install on your MBP. then you will immediately run the Software Update to upgrade Aperture to 1.1 and thus the native Intel code."
It should also be noted that even under Rosetta the MBP rocks - a Photoshop CPU intensive test showed it only about 33% slower than the dual 2.0 G5 Powermacs!. And at the demo the presenter hinted that we would be very pleased with Aperture 1.1 performance on the new Intel chips.
I just bought one on an impulse purchase yesterday for a photo trip in April.
But everyone buying a MacBook Pro for Aperture use should be sure to get the 256 MB VIDEO CARD!

    Hi,
It's the first Intel generation chipset and a Corsair Force plus a Corsair Force GT worked for me well. However, the Samsung is a brand new drive and I can't guarantee it will work on your laptop. Perhaps it may work:

  • If I buy creative cloud and save my work to a USB, and another computer only has creative suite, are they compatible?

I don't know which to buy, creative suite 6, or creative cloud, which seems to have more. but are they compatible with eachother?, if I save work to one and another computer only has the other, can it recognise the other program and I can still use both?

Those are the collective names for suites for several different software titles. Creative Cloud has about 29 different software titles.
File format incompatibility affects different software in different ways. Photoshop, Indesign may have issues but Dreamweaver will probably not.

  • Are you happy with the new Unibody 2.0 Macbook?

    Hi There,
I have been a Windows user(not by choice) for the last, well, ever since I can remember. But after buying the iphone 3g am a mac fan. I have also seen the demo of the new unibody 2.0 macbook and have been hooked on to that. So after reading all issues reported on this forum, just wanted to ask owners as to what their experience has been and are they happy with the $1299 macbook? MY usage is mainly for internet, songs, videos and probably have to install XP to run a few of my oracle applications. But mainly want to use the mac OS. I am not into gaming so thats not really a concern. Also, any major disadvantages or problems that you have. I dont need firewire so thats not an issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Cheers guys!

I've been an Apple Laptop user since the Clamshells, and have adored most of them. This is the best one yet so far as I'm concerned. I am delighted, amazed, and in love! It's strong and solid, yet lighter than the plastic ones before it. Has all that I expect from a beautiful screen, responsive keyboard, and it's smooth-as-glass trackpad. This is a marvelous machine and I'm very, very happy with it.
Oh, and Ziatron there always posts on these threads about the firewire. He is correct that the Aluminum Macbook lacks firewire. The plastic has it, and so does the Macbook pro. So if that's an issue for you, then you need to think on that. However, the lack of firewire on the Macbook is Ziatron's particular hobby horse. A lot of us, myself included, have found it to be a non-issue. I've had this MacBook since the day they brought the new ones out and have not yet needed to plug in one thing that required firewire. I don't even know it's missing.

  • SQL Server Express compatibility with Windows 8.1 - Which version(s) are compatible?

We have purchased a new computer that has Win 8.1 Pro. We are migrating an application from a Win 7 Pro machine we are currently successfully using (the vendor migrates it for us) and they have said that the application will require the installation of SQL
Server 2008 Express (which we do have on our Win 7 machine).
In looking at the requirements for SQL Server 2008 Express (on the download page for it), it does not mention it being compatible with Win 8.1
In addition, Installation Instructions  says that it requires:
     Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
     Windows Installer 4.5.
     Windows PowerShell 1.0
I see that 3.5 is already listed as a program feature of Win8.1 and I've enabled it. Do I need to install SP1? I downloaded it, and launched it, and nothing happened.
I also looked at the Windows Installer 4.5 download page, and it's not clear if that is compatible with 8.1. Do I need to download and install it?
Power Shell 2.0 is already installed. I assume that will be backwards compatible with PowerShell 1.0; is that correct?
I saw another question about SQL Server Express Compatibility with Win 8.1 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/038ec00e-4fc1-41ba-9fdc-21c022aad67e/action?threadDisplayName=sql-server-express-compatibility-with-windows-81) and the response
said that SQL Server Express 2012 will work, but the link contained in the answer led to a page for SQL Server Express 2014.
My vendor has told me that SQL SERver Express 2012 will be backwards compatible with their product. But they said that I would first have to install 2008 first. Is that correct for Win 8.1?
    So, the ultimate questions are:
    1. What is the link for Sql Server 2012 Express for Win 8.1?
    2. Will the SQL Server 2012 Express download require prior install of the 2008 version
    3. What other component requirements are required for SQL Server 2012 Express, and how can I determine if they have already been installed. (This is a brand new computer with a clean Win8.1 Install).
    4. Finally, can we use the 2014 version of SQL Server Express for Win 8.1? If so, questions 1, 2 and 3 apply, too.
Thanks for your help on this!! HIGH ANXIETY.

    Hello,
The following article provides which updates are required to make SQL Server versions compatible with Windows 8 or 8.1:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2681562/en-us
    1. You can use the product updates feature on SQL Server 2012 to make it compatible with Window 8.1. Apply SP1 as described on the following
    article:
    http://www.sqlcoffee.com/SQLServer2012_0008.htm
    2. No.
    3. Download and install .NET Framework 4.0 and enable .NET Framework 3.5. For more information:
