Are third party Microphones compatible?

I noticed the Nano has an integrated voice recording app, which is quite excellent.
Will I be able to plug in third party 3.5mm microphones (Such as the Sony ECM-DS70P or similar) into the nano for recording purposes? It'd be really nice if this new nano could replace my digital recorder for recording my stand up performances.

Firmware is installed, and I've used the Restore feature many times, but still the same thing.
I hate taking my equipment to the Apple store (Arlington,VA) because their techs aren't any smarter than a tech savvy Mac user, and they tend to BS their resolutions.
However, I think I might have to visit them so they can connect it to a laptop, and BS me some more. Hopefully it will start working.

  • Are third party disk utilities really necessary?

Are third party disk utilities [such as TechTool Pro or Disk Warrior] really necessary on a G5? Does the Apple Disk Utility perform all necessary repair functions?

need a DiskWarrior for sure - buil-in utility is not very powerful for real nasty file corruption.
most important is to back up files regularly to another drive - if drive fails no utility will fix it.

  • What are third party compatible DVD burners?

I can't seem to find a clear answer to this question: What is a "third party compatible" DVD burner that I can use with iMovie/iDVD?
I don't have an internal DVD burner, so I'm thinking of picking up an external one. Problem is, I don't know which ones will work. Is there a list somewhere?
Do I need a firewire burner or can I use USB 2.0?
    Thanks.

LaCie Firewire External DVD burners are good and they include Toast software.

  • What are Third Party Applications??

I just want to know what they are since i'm confused with them... They sound illegal but i've seen them in the apple store as alarm clocks.

    midgetwars wrote:
ohhhh... Thnx so third party apps are every app apart from like 10apps made from apple??
    Yes.
then why would the alarm clock that i have need to say that it is a third party apps and needs to stay open for it to work?
It's probably saying that since it isn't an Apple application, it won't run in the background. However, with the latest update (iOS 4) it may be possible to find an alarm clock app that will be able to run in the background.

  • What are third party alternatives to Ovi Suite

I really like my Nokia E63 Smartphone, and Nokia PC Suite is usable, I'll say no more than that.
Unfortunately its replacement Nokia Ovi Suite, really is a dire application, appearing to have a UI designed by a child, and the coding done by someone committed to an asylum.
Harsh words, indeedy so, but this Ovi Suite really does bring out the worst in a person when to attempt to use it.
Enough has already been written about its short comings, so I won't waste time re-visiting...
My quest is for a suitable third part application that will do the business without the problems.
Searching around I've found two possibles, OxyCube which unfortunately just will not install its required bit on my phone, and MobilEdit which works reasonably well, but has a very dodgy .CSV import capability.
So my question here to the knowledgeable is:
Are there any other third party replacements for the Nokia offering?
    Thanks
    Ax

+1 from me on both looking for a third party app, and loathing the Nokia-as-the-centre-of-the-universe approach to coding.  Nokia 5800.
Had a torrid time with the OVI 3 update which simply doesn't do the sync'ing it promises to do, so rolled back to OVI 2 which gets stuck on insisting that I reinstall (a perfectly functioning) MS Outlook.
Since my Nokia phone is now next to useless through not giving me what I paid for, I'll also start looking at other brands.  Well done Nokia!

  • What are third party apps????

hi everyone, in the 1.1.3 video, he says something about third party apps, what are they.
    thanks
    Message was edited by: iPhone

    iPhone,
The first and second party is Apple (the maker of the device) and you (the customer who uses the device). Right now all the software on the iPhone is from Apple. A third party is anybody besides Apple and you. Most webapps are written by "third-parties", and you can create bookmarks to them.
In late February, there will be a System Developer's Kit which will allow writing third-party "native" applications that can be put on the iPhone will become possible. This link is to the announcement about the SDK:

    Hope this helps,

  • CS5 Trial Version: are third party plugins allowed?

I'm just considering an upgrade from Elements on recommendation that CS5 will provide better colour and page size control on my Canon iPF5000 - there is a Canon plugin that supports CS5 (they claim!).
So downloaded the trial CS5 version and installed the Canon plugin according to the docs in ./plugins/import-export. No matter what I do I cannot get Photoshop to list the plugin, so I have no idea if it's actually being recognised or not. Unfortunately Canon don't seem to provide any documentation, so I've no idea what to expect.
I've been told that trial versions don't support plugins - is this correct?
    OS is 10.5.

The trial does support third party plugins.
If the plugin is not written for 64 bits, then it will only be available if you switch Photoshop to run in 32 bits addressing mode.

  • Are third party mains adapters safe?

    Hey,
I got bought the following adapter (at least I think it's this specific one) by my dad to use on my iPod Nano. He also bought one for my brother, who also has a Nano, and himself, who uses a second generation Touch.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-UK-USB-MAINS-WALL-CHARGER-DATA-CABLE-IPHONE-5-3-3G -3GS-4-4S-IPOD-TOUCH-/320859188228?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_Mob ilePhoneChargers&hash=item4ab4b2ac04#ht_2158wt_841
Mine and my brothers Nano's charge fine with it, though I've only used it the once. My dad's Touch, however, has an on screen message saying something along the lines of 'this device does not support charging', with a yellow triangle and an exclamation mark.
This has made me reluctant to use the charger again, as I'm unsure how safe it is, and don't want to mess up the battery of my iPod, as it's only a week or so old.
So yeah, is the mains adapter safe to use on my Nano, or is it worthwhile me purchasing the far more expensive official version from Apple?
    Thanks.

Does your dad's iPod charge okay otherwise when using another cable?
It might not hurt to invest in the Apple branded sync cable as it should work with all of your particular iPod models in your household.

  • Are all add-ons third party?

I am required by my new job to disable/remove all third-party add-ons. Is there a way to discern which add-ons are third party and which are not? Are all add-ons third party? Please advise. Thanks!

Extensions and Themes hosted at addons.mozill.org goes through a review process.
Toolbars are one type of extensions you may want to be more careful about and avoid any that mentions the word '''conduit''' anywhere especially or even ones that has a privacy policy.
The word Addons does not refer to just Extensions as it also groups together Themes (both complete and background images aka Personas) , Plugins, and even dictionary, language packs, search engines are included.

  • Reinstalling OS 10.9  and third party applications

After trying the many suggestions given here and still having problems with too many "applications quit unexpectedly" I have decided to reinstall 10.3.9. I would like to anticipate what I face by doing this---lost passwords, etc??? Also, how do I identify what are third party applications? Not usually a conspiracist, but five times this pm when i have tried to visit the votenader site, a crash has occured within seconds after I get to the site lol.

    Panthetic,
Web browsers, such as Firefox and Camino compatible on 10.3.9, are still being updated by their developers to keep pace with changing web standards. Safari is being updated but not for 10.3.9 and it's version of Safari (1.3.2 is the farthest that a Panther user can update).
Camino will feel very similar to Safari and can be customized to feel even more like it but the benefit is that it will function on sites that Safari 1.3.2 can no longer handle (Google Maps etc.).
Personally, I would leave Safari and Firefox alone on your Mac for now as it's nice to have a backup browser if you have any problems with another that you are using (ie. Camino). If your available disk space is that low perhaps trash one but hold on to at least one spare browser.
If you suspect a third party application of causing system problems I would look first to applications that embed themselves or intergrate more fully into the system. Applications that perhaps add a menubar icon or a system preference pane of it's own. Those would more likely cause problems with the system than a browser I should think.
Can you not remember which apps you have downloaded as third party applications?
"As before, how do you identify which ones are?"
I don't have a method of determining original installed apps that came with your computer. Alot of that depends upon what model you have and what software was bundled with it originally. I'm from the school of "if I don't know for sure don't mess with it" so you don't stand the chance of messing up the system. If there are particular apps that you have questions about deleting you are probably wise to post back and ask before deleting them.

  • Third Party Tools To Upgrade WSS 3.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2013?

Since you cannot upgrade WSS 3.0 directly to SharePoint Foundation 2013 using just the SharePoint software, I wanted to look at 3rd party tools that automate the migration directly to 2013 without requiring an intermediate upgrade to 2010.
We have a simple WSS 3.0 farm with 2 SharePoint Servers and 2 SQL servers that are are load balanced so that the site stays up if any one of the servers goes down.  It may be just round robin load balancing.
I'd like to see if I can determine if any of these migration tools would save enough time and effort for this type of environment to be worth the cost.  It would be nice if we could do the upgrade all in once day instead of having 2 outages.

HI,There are third party tools to upgrade sharepoint but not from wss 3.0 to directly sharepoint 2013.Its not at all possible as I know. Please find the below link that clearly explains the Upgrade process.
    http://expertsharepoint.blogspot.de/2014/03/sharepoint-up-gradationmoss2007.html
Anil Avula[MCP,MCSE,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP,MCSM] See Me At: http://expertsharepoint.blogspot.de/
It looks like there are such products.
This one says it can be used to migrate directly from even WSS 2.0 to SharePoint 2013.
    http://www.fpweb.net/sharepoint-2013/migrate-sharepoint-2003-to-sharepoint-2013/
I don't like that it doesn't indicate anything about pricing on the page so you have to call a sales rep and give away all your contact information before you can get a quote.  I probably will not call them.
We would "like" to speed up the migration process and have only a single outage, but since the SharePoint environment is small, we will not be spending thousands of dollars just to save having to do two upgrades.  We would probably end up just
going to 2010 and canceling the 2013 upgrade if needed.

  • Credit check issue in third party order

    Dear all,
We are facing some issues related to credit management data for one of our customer. I need your valuable inputs for below mentioned queries-
    1. As a genaral question- When we releases a SO through VKM* How the system calculated the " Released Credit Value of the document".
2- For one of the customers, the FD33 shows a Sales value X USD. As i see the split of this sales value , this X USD amounts to OPEN DELIVERIES. Both Open So and Open billing are zero. We tried to check with no. of tcodes to find out the open values but no such Open delv document is appeared.
In VC/2, it only shows Open SO, no open deliveries are there.
So i tried with simulation program RVKRED88, and found 5 third party Sales documents , against which some value is coming under the Open delivery value and it sums up to the value as coming in FD33.
I have a few questions on this-
    > All the SO in output are Third party SO, against which PO has been created, ( Third party So> PR> PO> MIRO--> billing) and all are in status OPEN, so how come they are showing value in OPEN DELIVERY ?
--> The value appearing against these third party SO is Not equal to items value/net value, it is a complete different value than appearing in SO. But in SO changes history , the same value is coming AS RELEASED CREDIT VALUE. How is it being calculated?
For eg- for one of the Third party SO , the value coming in RVKRED88 is 29573.53 USD,
                                                                net value in So= 24,120.00 USD, Qty = 6000 PC , Credit price= 4.02 USD
Credit value of So in VBAk= 29573.53 USD
SO created , released on 08.July.2011, confirmed schedule line =08.Oct.2011
Credit settings- Static check + Credit active Item cat and SO ,  Open So and open delv are ticked in credit settings.
    Kindly help in the analysis.
many thanks in advance for the inputs.

    Hi Dharmendra,
    1.  When we release a sales order using VKM* transaction S066 information structure and OEIKW field is updated which increases open order value.
    2. If there is mismatch in the values of credit related fields run RVKRED77 (Re-organisation of credit in case of update errors) this will update all the credit data for a Payer customer in real time. RVKRED88 is simulation mode.
    3. Updating of values related to credit is controlled by the update group assigned to credit control area. If system is not able to update  using the assigned update group it will automatically try updating using the next update group. Below is the text of SAP Help.
If a document cannot be processed with the update group you specify, the system determines the next possible update it can carry out. For example, you select Update group 000012 which, at delivery, reduces the open order value and increases the open delivery value. Assume that one item in the order is not relevant for delivery. In this case, the system automatically determines Update group 000018 for this item. Update group 000018 increases the open delivery value for the order item. The system uses the confirmed quantity of delivery-relevant schedule lines to update the order value
As you know in OVA8 transaction credit control area, Risk category, credit group and currency are assigned to update group.

  • Third party setup and config softs, utils and tools.

    Hello everyone,
I found, as expected, a lot of If-Then-ElseIfs in setting up servers, sure there's the worksheets, hords of PDF and Docs, video trainings, but what's more interactive?
Example: For FileMaker Pro, there are third party softwares like WiM's Analyzer which gives new insights to FMP.
Where are compared sets of soft, utils and tools for Mac OS X Server Tiger and/or Leopard?
I searched out but still feel I haven't found the "Why did I not get this in the first place" list of things.

Maybe my question is too general or the answers already on the web.
My best wish is to find a software in which that I could drag and drop computers, airports, other switches and OSes and click on it to configure in order to design networks, server and clients, Mac, Win and friends.
    The Visio cousin somehow.
I received Leopard server today. Oh joy!
