Are Yahoo email messages stored locally on iTouch 4G?

Hi,
Using Yahoo mail on my new iTouch 4G. Works pretty well. But just curious, are Yahoo email messages stored locally on my iTouch? Do they use more and more space over time?
Currently using 4.2.1
Thanks,
Jeff

Is the account a POP3 or IMAP account? A POP3 accounts allows you to download messages from the server and select when you want them to be deleted from the server. You can change when in the Advanced settings of the account on your iPod. Never is a common setting if you also want to access the messages from another device. An IMAP account remains synchronized across different devices. If you delete a message from one device it gets deleted from all devices. I suspect your Yahoo is a POP3 account since mine is. If the Advanced setting has a never delete from server it is a POP3.

    Thanks, Matt.
I'm now starting to notice the emails that don't come in order are all posted from sites that use multiple platforms to send the same message; email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. so maybe that has something to do with it. I'm thinking the hold up is possibly at their end.

  • Where are my email messages from the Mail app located in Lion?

I copied all my email messages from my PowerMac with OS X 10.5 and want to copy them to my MacBook with OS X 10.7, but I can't find the folder in Lion where email messages are stored for the Mail application. Where have they been moved to? I have been using 10.5 for a long time and am not aware of changes like this to the new OS.

They are in your Library folder, but it is now hidden in Lion. You can unhide it by either:
hold Option key and to to Go Menu in Finder - Library will be there. Once open you can drag its' icon into the Sidebar if you want.
Or, you can use this terminal command:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
Once in the Library, there is the Mail folder. Please note that they are now in a folder named "V2" and the format is not compatible with Snow Leopard. You can try putting your folders there, but I do not know if that will work, especially since they are from 10.5.

  • Can I have my email messages stored on my hard drive with no expiration date?

My email server deletes emails after two weeks. When I used Outlook, the messages were automatically stored on my hard drive without an expiration date. Can I configure Thunderbird to do the same?

Using the Inbox for long term message storage is a recipe for disaster.
You should make folders for your "keeper" email under the Local Folder account and sort those messages into those folders.
Read this article about maintaining your email folders.

  • Yahoo email messages not downloading after ICS update

I downloaded ics on my galaxy tab 10.1 today but when I opened the stock email app (Yahoo), only emails that were sent today appear. All older emails and emails in my subfolders (and sent emails) are not appearing at all.  I've tried removing the Yahoo account and have tried possibilities in settings all to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

        Hi Dan1962,
I stay in constant communication using the email client on my phone so I know the importance of having access to all current and previous emails.
I am glad that Shagg was able to provide some great alternate options. It looks like you have already tried to remove and readd your Yahoo email.  Are your previous emails now showing on your tablet? You can also try clearing the application data. I have provided a link to the steps, here:

  • Where are 'in flight' messages stored ?

Messages that are pulled off of persistent queues and processed within a
transaction envelope are retained atleast until they have been successfully
processed (indicated by way of the consumer or the container process issuing
a commit). I need some clarification on how the messages are retained from
the point the message is assigned to a consumer (let's say an MDB) till the
consumer successfully processes the message. Apparently 'in flight'
messages are stored in a place different from the active JMS store after
being assigned to consumers. This explains why QueueBrowsers do not see
messages that are 'in flight' or being processed by the consumer.
My question : Is this intended behavior for Queues ? It probably is, and
makes sense as we don't want more than one consumer to get the same message
(PTP) and at the same time we want to ensure that we cater subsequent
messages to the remaining available consumers. Confirmation of this
behavior would clear the picture for me

  • Where are Inbox emails stored in Apple Mail?

I accidentally erased all the emails in my inbox in Apple Mail.  However, a week before I did this, I backed up my hard drive (cloned it w/ Super Duper) to an external hard drive (called BackUp).  When I boot up in BackUp, I can find my older 'inbox' emails in Mail.  They are intact on this second HD.
I have not been able to import them using the Mail import function - mostly because I cannot find the Inbox folder (see below).  I tried booting up in Backup, and using this path I got down to the folder where I thought the emails were stored:  Library/Mail/POP-(my em address)/Inbox/Messages.  I then copied the Messages folder, mailed it to myself and booted up on the internal hard drive.  After retrieving the Messages folder from my email (which I thought contained the Inbox messages) I swapped it for the Messages folder on the internal hard drive.  This did not change a thing.
So where are the Inbox messages stored?  Or, is there an easier way to import my inbox emails from the BackUp hard drive?
Of course, I can simply forward each message via email from the BackUp drive and retrieve them in the internal drive, but then I lose subjects and the sender's name at the top of the email.
I'm using OS 10.6.8 on an intel iMac.

Thanks for your reply.  You suggested some other avenues for me to pursue - namely, treat the emails as files....
Since the BackUp hard drive is bootable, if I have my iMac running on its internal HD, I cannot drag anything from the BackUp HD to the internal hard drive.  I tried this: - while on the internal HD, i clicked on the mounted icon for BackUp, went to applications, clicked on mail, and Mail opened - but the Inbox that I saw was the relatively empty inbox that is on the internal drive.  True, I did get a second Mail icon on the Dock with its light illuminated, but I cannot open the Mail program with the BackUp Hard Drive files.
I did try booting up to BackUp, I located the files in the Inbox folder that correspond to the emails in the Inbox, copied them to a new email and sent the .emlx files to myself.  Logged back onto the internal drive, opened the email to myself, dragged the attachments (all those .emlx files) to the Inbox messages folder, and closed everything and reopened Mail.  None of the emails that I copied showed up in the inbox - yet if i go to the Inbox messages folder, find the appropriate file and click on it, up comes the email that I want to appear in Mail's Inbox.

  • Why have most all email messages disappeared from the folders they were stored in?

I have 57 folders set up in TB. All had multiple email messages stored in them. These file folders were used regularly without any problem. One day I accessed one of the folders and it was empty. It turned out that all folders were empty except for eight and those eight had files missing. I was at a complete loss as to what had happened. I then remembered that System Mechanic, which I have installed, had found something like 124,000 misaligned files prior to this problem and had proceeded to fix the problem. I don't recall if I had tried to reference any of my TB stored emails immediately after the misaligned file problem was "fixed" or several days had passed since this misaligned file problem was "fixed". I have had both TB and System Mechanic installed for 3+ years without any problem. Has anyone had this problem with or without System Mechanic installed.
Thank you for any help offered.

Yes they can. Connect your iPhone to your computer, open itunes, click on info and click on sync contacts. Alternatively you can go to your phone settings, iCloud and deselect the contacts option. A dialogue box or whatever that thing is should come up, select keep on my iPhone. Wait a few minutes and reselect it again and choose merge when it asks you to. Let me know if that solves your problem. It happened to me on my iPhone 4s and I just fixed it a few minutes ago.

  • Syncing Local Outlook Email Messages to iPhone

I apologize if this question has been answered previously, but I did search for an answer and could not find one.
Is there a way to sync the email messages stored on my harddrive (downloaded from the POP3 server) to my iPhone? I do not want to leave all my email on the server.
My previous phone Sprint Pocket PC (Windows Mobile) had two mail options: one for Outlook and one for POP3 account. I do not see that option with the iPhone.

No, there's not. iPhone synchs Email SETTINGS, not E-mails.

  • Reconcile personal Yahoo email

I am new to BB and am confused.
I am receiving my personal yahoo email messages on my BB curve 8530. This is what I want.
I delete messages on my personal yahoo account on my laptop and they are not deleted on my BB.  I would like to have the messages deleted on my BB when I delete the messages from my Yahoo mail inbox.

    Hello,
Given your description, this should work...see this KB for reference:
KB05133Email reconciliation features for the BlackBerry Internet Service
However, are you sure you are deleting from the Yahoo server? I ask because you said this:
    rep48 wrote:

I cannot tell for sure if you are deleting truly on Yahoo (e.g., via their WebMail interface) or via some PC-based email client (e.g., Outlook). If a PC client, then it is likely that the PC is not configured to remove the items from the server when you delete them in Outlook (for instance). As such, the BB can never know of the deletion since all reconciliation is between the BB and the Yahoo servers...there is no reconciliation between the BB and your PC email client.
But, if you are deleting from the Yahoo WebMail interface, then I recommend removing and re-integrating the Yahoo account on your BB and again ensuring you have properly configured for 2-way reconciliation.
    Good luck!

  • Email messages don't display in thunderbird message pane but wdseml file is good.

There are some email messages that don't display correctly in the Thunderbird message pane.
Either the pane is completely empty or chunks of html show up in the pane.
I checked the actual email file stored in:
    C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\d976yxfm.default\Mail\pop-server\Inbox.mozmsgs
and it looks good, as the Windows 7 explorer window is able to show the email message cleanly in the preview window.
When I click on "View Source", it shows the wrong source file, I think.
The text in the "view source" window doesn't match the text in the ".wdseml" file at all.
Note: I recently migrated my C drive from a spinning hard disk to an SSD, perhaps this caused the weirdness? But, most of my email messages do display correctly, just some of them are hosed.
    Any ideas how to fix?
Currently running Windows 7, 64 bit, latest update from Microsoft (as of 3/13/2014).
    Thunderbird version 24.3.0.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Windows still has a command processor.
    So no need for bash.
type CMD into the search box to locate it
If you can use bash I assume your familiar with CD to change folders.
One little thing I use to save typing is I locate the folder in Explorer, click beside the path so it changes to a C:\ based item and use Ctrl + C to copy it and paste it into my CMD session. CTRL+V does not work, but edit on the windows system menu does.
To rename the files, navigate to the folder they are in and Copy *.wdseml *.eml
once you do the import return and del *.eml to clear out the duplicates from the first step.
