Are you annoyed you had to register, wait, and log in to see this forum?

I hated the fact that I was forced to register for this forum, then wait 12 hours, then log in, just to enter this forum. And many people never manage to register. See http://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=register+XE+private+forum&dateRange=all for examples. I wish this forum was opened to the public. If you, too, were annoyed by this, please say so. Hopefully the moderators will see this and will open the forum to the public.
What do you all think of the registration requirement for this forum?

Also, some questions to the moderators:
1. Why do you force users to register?
2. Why don't you post the registration instructions in a public place? (This would assist users who can't find the link to register because they are having trouble installing Oracle XE or other such problems.)
3. Why doesn't your forum software automatically approve registration requests immediately?
4. Why do you force users to log in before they enter the forum? (Many system administrators and DBAs use one of a large variety of different email addresses / passwords, depending on the situation. This makes it far harder for them to remember the proper email/password combination to use when logging in.

If that is your intent, finding a substitute program that will run on your Mac may not be as efficient. Others can advise you on alternatives, or you can post a new thread specifically with that question.
BTW: what Mac and what version of OS X?
If it is important to you to continue to use DVD Studio Pro, consider the option of installing Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels on your Mac:

I tried the manual method. I was able to set the music/video to manual and then restarted the entire system. After restart, I re-attached the ipod touch to the computer. The sync automatically ran for everything that wasn't set to manual and it completed without a problem. I then reset the music/video to automatically sync and restarted the entire coputer/ipod set again. This time when I re-attached the ipod, EVERYTHING synced and there were no problems reported. I've never had to do this before, but I will keep it in mind if something like this happens again. Thank you for pointing me to the manual sync.

If you have a 5th gen. video ipod and it is frozen do this it works

if u have a fifth gen. video ipod first you should toggle the hold button. then hold he center button and the menu button at the same time for 6-10 sec. untill the apple appears then you can turn it on,charge it and back to normal!!

My wives phone will not restore. we have had an apple tech and a verizon tech on this issue. we are trying to restore from a previous backup from iCloud. it is large. but a month now?! Help!

We restored her new iphone 5s from a backup on icloud from her previous iphone 5. it was restoring for two weeks! we called apple and eventually reset and started over. verizon had us do this again a week and a half later. still, now, its been over two and a half weeks and the phone will not restore from her icloud backup. she has alot of our pictures from the recent past holidays and pictures in icloud that we dont want to loose. along with all her itunes purchases.she is starting to get really upset. i know her backup was a fairly big one but if icloud sold her the storage to do the backup. why cant we get her phone to restore from this icloud backup? Is it the device? is that covered under our apple care? or under our phone warranty? Is it the size of the backup? im so lost and want to help her. I am looking at a web page with highlighted words that are links that open new windows. I don't even click on them and they upen as I pass over them accidentily with the cursor. extremely annoying!what is it called and how can I remove this 'feature'

it is usually one highlighted word that when touched, opens up a small window of related companies or info or websites that I might be interested in. one word "presenter" was highlighted, touched it with my cursor, and I think caught a damaging virus.

I was stunned to discover that the Restore feature allowed others to get into my gmail account even after the computer had been shut down and restarted. How can this be prevented?

We have a PCin our shared vacation home running both Firefox and Explorer . When I tried to log into my gmail, Firefox took me automatically to one of my sister's accounts. In an effort to get to my own account, I shut down the computer. When I rebooted and restarted Firefox, it asked if I wanted to restore earlier session, and Lo & Behold I was back in my sister's email account. This is scandalous! How can it be prevented?

Additionally you may also have to change to '''Use custom settings for history''' beside '''Firefox will''' and enable '''Clear history when Firefox closes''', if '''Settings''' is disabled or not visible.

Apps are not giving me a "set up" tab and I don't see "apps" on the printer screen

I have tried to install several apps on my printer. It says "added" but does not give me a "set up" tab. I finally found one that would, and when I tried to set it up I could not find how to access the "apps" on my printer.

What printer do you have?
Only some apps will have a setup option, those that may need a zip code or other info to give you a customized experience...most apps do not require any setup to use.
When you go to your printer front panel, if you're on a Photosmart device, you'll either have an "Apps" icon o the main screen, which you select to see the avaialble apps, or you'll see a horizontal ribbon of apps that you can select from directly.
Again, if you post what model printer you have that will help - is it a D110a, B110a, or D410 Envy, or ?

Unfortunately, there's not a lot of built-in support for looking through your iTunes backup. However, you can look in the iTunes preferences (under Devices) to see the date of the last backup, and ensure that you just made a backup.

When updating my Apps on my IPhone, it tells me my password is incorrect and wont let me log in. I came to this site and redid my password, so I know its right (as I had to put it in here to get into this forum) and it still tells me its wrong.

Updating your Apps is different from the Support Communities and use different passwords. Your best bet is to start with the support links here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/account/ If one of those suggestions doesn't work, then hit the "Contact Support" link from the list to the left for additional options.
