Are you freakin' kidding me??

The Scenario:
JUST installed Leopard Server onto clean Mac mini hard drive. Setup two User accounts (one to use and one just in case). Repaired Disk Permissions. Rebooted. Ran Software Update, let it install a slew of things, including 10.5.2 update. Rebooted. Repaired Disk Permissions. Rebooted. Ran Software Update again. Let it install a handful of new updates. Rebooted. Repaired Disk Permissions. Rebooted.
At Login Window I get the freakin' window shaking its head that it doesn't like either my username or its password. Tried the second User account that I set up "just in case", didn't like it either. Finally logged in as "localadmin" and am typing this here now.
What. The. Heck?
This is the 5th time Leopard Server has done this to me. And, as you can see, I did NOTHING out of line this time (not that I did the other 4 times...) and I get the "can't login" problem almost immediately.
Is it just me or does Leopard Server suck?

I did an update to 10.5.3 using the stand-alone installer and, after the delay and restarts Apple warned about, I was presented with the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). After an hour and confirmation of no hard drive head movement for at least two minutes, I forced a shut down with the power button. Restarted fine and web back on line. Not a confidence-inspiring update. Actually, it's the first time I've seen Server updates do this.
Then there's Mail. It's now even worse than in 10.5.2. It did not work in 10.5.0, or 10.5.1, or 10.5.2. I was so hoping that Apple would finally make this service work. No such luck. 'Upgrading' turned off SMTP incoming, and there's no way to get it on. Every time I click the button and Save, the button simply unchecks itself.
In my 26 years as an exclusively Apple user (bigot, actually), I've NEVER seen Apple release software as insanely, woefully buggy as Leopard Server. I've seen a few iffy Apple software products, but never anything even approaching this. I'm told that Tiger Server is way better, but my licence is for Leopard.
The upgrade notes do not speak of ANY of the bugs I've reported in Mail since 10.5.0, and there's (naturally) no indication the the upgrade may kill Mail, which it does in my case.
Where does one go to get one's money back, and where does one send the invoice for all the time Apple has wasted by non-consensually making me a beta (alpha) tester of the (ahem) 'bullet-proof, enterprise-level' product? Does Apple not understand that our businesses are at stake, because we base our businesses on reliable, enterprise capable software? Given my experiences with Leopard Server, I just don't see how Apple can claim Server is remotely suitable for enterprise use.
Grrrr.

  • BlackBerry 10 not until March are you FREAKING kidding me?

    It is a total waste of PRECIOUS BlackBerry marketing dollars to hype a Phone during the Superbowl that won't be available for another month.  Advertising Vaporware won't win customers back.
    You guys did it right for UK.  Hyped the phone and you had it on Sale the next day.  Why you didn't limit this "launch" event to UK and Canada is beyond me.
    I been lugging around my slow and outdated phone for sometime.  This is a complete slap in the face to the dedicated BlackBerry user and it's not going to impress iPhone or Droid users.
    Great job you pissed off one of your best fans!

    I'll give you a hint:  It wasn't BlackBerry's idea, it was the major U.S. carriers that decided it so perhaps your negativity is misdirected.  Had it been up to BlackBerry, the phones would be on the streets worldwide today (as they already are in the U.K.......as decided by the carriers there)..

  • Android Sub- Are you %#@$ing kidding?

    I log on to the Android Dev console and see that I can now offer a subscription.  Yay.  I create the subscription and auto fill the pricing for other countries.  Easy enough.  I publish it and then see that I CANNOT EDIT OR DELETE THE SUB.  I call Adobe Support, which tells me NOT to auto fill (for some reason I did not comprehend).
    How does stuff like this happen?  Why does following instructions get me in trouble?
    Does anyone know how to remove a subscription from Android's console (or whether it's advisable?)

    I've tested this in the console.
    The 'autofill' doesn't really come into play here, whether I use it or not does not change the fact subscriptions do not have a 'Delete' or 'Unpublish' button as in-app purchases do.
    I'm afraid the only way I found was to delete the APK file and re-upload!
    Not nice but probably a question to ask in Google circles more than here ... although any advice from fellow users is welcome.

  • Airport in Bridge mode "not a supported format." Are you F'n kidding me?

    Forgive me if I'm freakin' a bit but I am at my wits end with Apple. Here's the breakdown.
    Fiber DSL into a standard wired 4 port D-Link router. Router is connected to HP 24 port switch because the D-Link does not have enough ports for my house. Switch feeds cat5 to all rooms in the house. Airport Extreme (newest version) is in living room and set to Bridge mode. I use it to connect multiple items in my entertainment area and wireless access for the Macbooks and iPhones.
    Up to a few weeks ago I was connecting my iMac via wireless but got sick of the connection dropping (pings would be unresponsive for minutes on end). I ended up moving my desk and plugging into a cat5 port on the wall. Well guess what... it's still dropping. OK, I removed everything from the network and started adding things one at a time over the past few days. Everything was running better than ever until I plugged the Airport back into the network. Mind you, I'm not running my iMac into the Airport, it is simply on the same network.
    After shaking my head for a while I called Apple. Well I just got off the phone w/ Tier 3 tech support for the Airport Extremes. I tell them that I have no idea why, but I'm only dropping connections when the Airport is on the network and I'm just curious if there is something in the settings that I'm missing. This is where it gets good... The brilliant Tier 3 "Technician" tells me that I am running an unsupported configuration because the Airport is running in bridge mode and it's attached to a wired router across the house. He says that if the D-Link router was also wireless he could help me. I asked what the difference was if it was wired or wireless but all he could say was he couldn't help me because it was a unsupported configuration.
    So - I'm ready to send all my CrApple gear to some poor kids on the other side of the world. Anyone have any ideas here?

    I did everything you told me in order to get my iphone right away.  I got up at 3 am on the 6th and your website was down more than it was up...by the time I was able to place my order you tell me you are no longer accepting pre-orders.  Try again on the 9th.
    I stop in a store and they tell me they won't get any in the stores, I have to order on line or I will not be able to get my phone.
    I get up on the 9th @ 3 am and place my order and they tell me I won't get the phone until the 18th.  I am in bed watching the news and they show a lady walking out of a store front with a new iphone.  Are you kidding me??? Was she an existing customer or not.  Who knows or cares.  I don't get mine until after the 18th.
    So I go to a store front this morning and they have them in stock so I get my phone?  No because Verizon shipped the phone to me at 5 am this morning and they can't cancel the order.  They shipped it next day air with UPS but they didn't note for Saturday delivery so I won't get it until Monday....but there is another twist...the weather is bad and may delay the shipment...UPS can't tell me one way or the other so I may or may not get my phone on Monday and I have to stay home all day because they asked for a signature upon delivery.
    Are you kidding me???  How is this customer service.  Verizon you asked for an email so you could anticipate how many iphones to order.  If you didn't get enough to service existing customers in a timely manner why didn't you tell us?  If you have the phones in the stores why didn't you send me an email saying that I could pick up my phone in the store and save you the cost of an expedited delivery from UPS?
    So here I sit without an iphone. I've been a Verizon customer since they began.  I didn't switch to ATT when the iphone first came out.  I waited until they announced that they were coming to Verizon.  I did everything you asked me to and I still don't have my phone and am being put out to take off work on Monday or not get my phone until ???????????
    If I ran my business this way I wouldn't have a business!

    Same thing happened to me.  Very frustrating.  My son and I were told four different things by four different reps and also from in store reps. We missed the pre-order, but my son went on-line at 3 AM on the 9th and ordered it.  Our I-phone was supposed to ship on the 18th so we cancelled the order and picked one up at the store yesterday 10 minutes after a rep told me I could cancel as long as it wasn't shipped out yet. Earlier another rep had told my son earlier we could bring the order number into the store and pick it up while another told him no you can't do that. After picking up the phone in store, I go online to cancel and can't find it anywhere.  I call and that rep tells me its just waiting for a tracking number to ship.  So within a half hour I have a second I-phone coming.  I called this morning and the order is now canceled, but I still have to deal with returning the other.  Had they told me it would ship today, I would have waited because my son didn't need it that bad, but what a frustrating experience.  Shame on you Verizon.

    I´m really pissed off Palm and the quality of their products:
    I got yesterday my third Palm Pre, first one had the oreo-effect (it was possible to move the slider arround 0.5 cm to the right and left), the second one had a problem on the display inside, (difficult to explain was looking like the display comes off the cover), and the third one has 6 pixels not working and the power button is shaking and it seems I will loose it in the next days.
    The Touchstone causes problems, if the battery is full, every 10 seconds it is starting to charge again. Thanks for that, my battery has now 250 loading cycles in one night. Had to use some tapes and put it on the stone and now it is working, but this can´t be the solution for that..
    Beside that, the webOS is funny and I really like it, but it is a shame. Apple did a lot wrong with the first iPhone, like missing copy&paste and MMS, but the Pre? One notification sound for SMS, Email, Chat, System sounds? Are you kidding? A 50,- Euro-Mobile can make it better. In 1.3.1 it is possible to select a ringtone for SMS. Great! And for Email? I don´t know if I got a SMS, Email, System hint or Chatmessage.. 
    And I found a really anoying bug right now: if the battery is empty, it looses the time, if the network time is set to off. So my Pre shows me 30 min in the past (actual time on the pre 22.59)

    Just went to verizon to buy the Nokia 928...want to know why Nokia is WAY behind Android and Apple>. their marketing people must be working for the competition. They launched a new phone today on verizon..the Lumia 928 in only 2 colors(white/black). Guess whatBlack is not available until next week-Really???!!!! Are you kidding me. I wanted to try out the new camera and use it for some end of school stuff for my kids this weekend. Now i have to use my 4 year old Droid 2. Maybe i should just get the Samsung Galaxy 3 and stick with Droids. Unbelievable Nokia!!! Keep shooting yourself in the foot!!!

    So Adobe, do you really think that telling me to go to a government website that is closed, and telling me to wait for something I might get in the mail telling me that indeed my credit card has been stolen is adequate compensation for this huge screw up?  You have got to be kidding me... 
    This isn't a small some small screw up, you should be ashamed of this breach and you should offer people real compensation in terms of money for your incompetence. Not tell us "sorry, but please don't cancel us".  Are you not following security standards for storing credit card information? There are reasons and ways to prevent this from happening.  Obviously you didn't think that taking the time to protect your customers was important. 
    Cancel your credit cards people.  And track your time it takes to reset all your accounts and get everything back to a working order.  Then send Adobe the bill. I am sure they will give you some of the 50 bucks a month that you are spending on them.

    Dear Nokia,
    It is one thing that you postpone introduction of lumia 920 for 5 months in the Netherlands, it is a different thing that once you finally do start delivering phones, you can only deliver black and white models.
    Are you kidding me? Really? All this fuzz about colorful phones, the add ridiculing Iphone for not have any colors and than all you can deliver are black and white phones? How incredibly ironic is this add you made. 
    I have never used a mobile phone other than Nokia and I could easily continue that with the Lumia 920. But you make it almost impossible to love Nokia. Your introduction of the new Lumia's in the Netherlands is close to a total disaster.
    Please please please sort it out very soon! The failed introduction of the Lumia is to me by far the loudest signal ever (louder than most of my friends have ever given) me to buy an Iphone 5. That really should get you worried.

    So, you had your Lumia in for service and it came back with WP7.8 installed. You find it odd since WP7.8 has not yet been released. 
    What I find odd is that you were referring to your GFs Lumia before and now it seems it's yours. But anyway. Whether the service centre made a booboo or they were instructed by Nokia to upgrade if needed or the Lumia was send to a Nokia Repair facility and was updated there, this is bad for you how?
    That said, the update fixed your issue and so the phone works as it should. Again, this is bad how??
    Local keyboard input has been available before 7.8 so what are you saying?
    It is also still in the same place as before so what are you saying?
    Between 7.5 and 7.8 no additional languages were added, you heard/red rumours but hey were false.
    If after all this you need to know where you setup the keyboard input languages you want to use try this.

    I agree that you should not have to jump through undignified hoops if you've bought a new version of software and just need to bring old documents into it. That must have been an irritating surprise.  If someone in your organization spent time on the phone with Apple my guess is you would eventually get satisfaction. The solution suggested in the other thread seemed quicker, though, and may just do the trick.
    I'm sure you're aware that Numbers 3.0 is not as good as Numbers 2 if you need to produce a lot of precisely formatted printed output or are particularly attached to some of the features that have been dropped. Numbers 3 is better than Numbers 2 at collaboration and dynamic display, particularly of charts, on either Mac or iPad. It's also strong at data entry on mobile that syncs back to the Mac.
    To get a quick and quite vivid portrayal of users' feelings and perspectives on the various differences between the two, the features gained, features lost, and workarounds threads may be helpful.

  • Droid DNA software upgrade - are you kidding me?

    I don't know who they hire to design anything - but this MASSIVE upgrade just jacked up my phone and hardly works!  None of my calendars are syncing, they took all my customization and tossed them, the look and feel is B&W and boxy!  This designer should be fired!!!!  I have had a day with this crap phone and I'm about to flush it and go elsewhere!!!  ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
    Beware those waiting for the samsung upgrade...if its this bad, you may want to look for a different carrier.

    I Called HTC and Verizion and found no way to revert the phone back. Had I known what the update would have done. I would have said NO NO NO!!!!!!
    this is my 3rd HTC, from the Incredible, to the Thunderbolt, to the DNA. I have loved them all. everything I liked about my DNA is gone, now it just looks like a samsung S3. I lost just about everything I liked about the phone. the skins for the home and lock screen are gone. the phone has a brilliant 1080p HD screen to display a now Black and White weather widget? I lost the ability to open 3rd party apps form the lock screen. lost my cool clocks for the lock screen. all the app icons are more dull. the camera has less on screen options. for example : before the change you could switch cameras with just a tap, now you need to enter the settings first. there is so much I dislike about this phone now. too much to list.  please someone with any brains reed these and put out a new update to bring back all the great HTC options. If it's not broke don't fix it. Is this just an attempt to get HTC users to dislike their phones enough to want to upgrade. I was looking forward to the front loud speakers of the new HTC ONE. I wish my DNA had them. HD screen with crappy sound. If the new HTC ONE is like this one. I will be looking else ware for my next phone. 
    To HTC,
         Please bring back all the old features I am obviously not alone here.  I know I am only one person and maybe just a drop in the bucket as far as revenue goes, but you will loose a loyal HTC customer for life.

    At most online music stores, such as Amazon MP3, you do the shopping within your browser.  You can avail yourself of all the accessibility features of the browser.
    Thus you will be able to buy music for your iTunes library without ever encountering the problem which triggered your original post.

    in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
    are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
    Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
    Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
