yeah. DJ is right.... all my sounds are converted to 5.1.
    even if thay are stereo.
    like wav's.
    MP3's
    AIM, MSN, sounds
    play out all 6 speakers
    From what i know, not.
The Prologic comes from your decoder on the other side of the SPDIF. Mine has 2 different settings for prologic and DD and does not switch automatically.
As for MP3, it only works with the good winamp plugin.
Do a very simple verification: Take winamp, use waveout plugin, play an mp3 and look at the sndstorm panel.
You'l see that on the equalizer only the front speakers are moving (plus the sub and center if you have checked the "create center" and "create LFE" in the speaker setup). The fact that they react to the created channels but not on the rear proves that your sound DOES *NOT* come from the APU, but from your receiver.

  • What games are you looking forward to?

I might have to give this a go tonight when I get home.
Just seeing the video took me back to the old Amiga days.

Hello, I'm really looking forward to Zelda Skyward Sword buy I'm going to wait for a price drop and buy used. Anyway, here's my lists of recently played PS3 Action/Adventure games: Infamous - Loved it, loved it, loved it!  Excellent game! (now playing Infamous 2)5 out of 5 stars Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Loved it, loved it loved it!  A total deviation from the previous Castlevania storylines but much improved and sets the series up for a bunch of sequels as well.5 out of 5 stars Batman Arkum City - OK but I really liked the first one better and I did not like the abrupt and unexpected ending either.31/2 out of 5 stars Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Sort of a letdown because I've waited so long for it. 31/2 out of 5 stars Red Dead Redemption - An OK game with too many side quests. Leader board shows one guy assisting almost 5,000 civilians... I completed the game with less than 15 assists (and the assists really don't get you anything)31/2 out orf 5 stars Prince of Persia (not Forgotten Sands) - Started slow but then I got into it..3 out of 5 stars Silent Hill: Homecoming - Slow, boring and weird overall; however, some parts of the game were really fun!21/2 out of 5 stars The Watchman - Funny, goofy, and easy at the same time. The game was so cheap, I had to try it. 21/2 out of 5 stars  Have fun, norepli

  • Are you looking for BIG Rhythmic Synth lines?

For those of you into Trance/Techno. Here is an excellent tip that a lot of you will know but for those that don't.....
    1) Choose a Nice PAD sound from the EXS24 library on Audio Instrument Track 1. For this example choose Analog Pads>Matrix12Strings.
    2) Set up a loop for 4 bars.
    3) Put in a distinct Rhythmic Apple loop on Audio Track 1, filling the 4 bar loop (For this I suggest a 'Cowbell Groove 01' from the Garage Band Loop Library for easy results).
    4) MUTE the chosen Loop in either the Environment OR the Audio Mixer - Do not MUTE the Arrange.
    5) Insert a 'Noise Gate' into the EXS24 Track.
    6) Set Attack to 2 ms, Hold to 100ms, Release to 80 ms, Then Slide the Threshold up to 20dB. Lookahead 0ms, Hysteresis -3dB. High Cut 20000Hz. Low Cut 20Hz. Select SideChain>Track 1 at the top of the Noise Gate menu.
    7) Insert a Stereo Delay or Send it to a bus. Use the 'Double Pan Delay' preset for the sake of this demo.
Now Play your EXS24 Pad Track and chill out at 90 bpm or get the bangin' choons at 130bpm. Loads of Fun - Now you know why Oakenfold/Sasha/Transeau sounded so good in the 90's......
    Cheers

good to see people discovering good ol tricks of the trade for themselves..
here's another one, good for dance music of many genres:
use a compressor with sidechain. key the sidechain to the kick drum, or to some other significant, strong rhythmic element like a loop or percussion part. put this compressor on a pad sound and play with threshold levels, attack and release till you get a nice pumping effect on the sound that works rhythmically.
also, don't just limit yourself to using this on simple pad sounds.. make an effects bus with a nice chain of flangey/phasey/long delay stuff on it, and send a whole bunch of tracks to it, as you would normally.. then, try a limiter or compressor on it, sidechained as described above. now you start getting that expensive, "how do they make it all sound so rich and full, yet punchy and rhythmic" sound.. very good especially in rich, fat, washy deep and progressive house styles, but also works a treat on more electronic styles like trance and the very plastic electro house stuff coming out these days too.
basically, the key (pardon the pun) is to find clever uses of sidechained effects, because it makes the elements of your mix interact organically and responsively, and just plain sound expensive and classy.

  • Are You Looking For A Car Cradle? Here You Go!

I just got my FlexPed from a company called Thought Out & its pretty sweet so far. It fits the 30GB iPod very well indeed. As of now, this is the only car cradle I know of that can be used with the new iPod. I was going crazy without my new iPod in my car, but no more. Now I can watch videos while I drive! Take a look at my setup in my Scion xB:

  • Word of Caution to Apple: Snow Leopard is one of your best programs ever invented by you.  Why are you looking to discontinue it? Both your Maverick and Lion programs failed due to breeches in its security unlike Snow Leopard!

Snow Leopard is one of the best MAC programs ever invented by Apple. So, I wanted to find out why Apple has chosen to discontinue there best working, and greatest, most stable Mac Program they have ever invented.  In all honesty, Apple's Lion and Maverick programs have been disastrous due to recent serious security breaches in these new programs, which did not occur with any of Apple's Snow Leopard users like myself. Part of good business is sticking with programs that are enduring and will out last the test of time and technology.
Also, Snow Leopard has proved itself by passing in terms of protecting us "Snow Leopard" users from any security breaches and other problems that have affected both your newer Lion and Maverick programs with all its great technology. Continuing to go in the direction as Apple is going in relation to our Snow Leopard Mac program (by discontinuing this great program as well as support for it) I believe could prove to be a huge and fatal business mistake.  Consider enhancing Snow Leopard; in other words continue to build on such positive potential in this way more stable program than your newer ones.  Again, please re-consider your decision(s).  Any thoughts?
    Message was edited by: Dorry40

Apple isn't listening here. (I should point out however, that your premise that Snow has stronger security is not correct. The gotofail error in 10.9 was a one-off and the OSs above 10.6 have greater sandboxing for security.) I still think Snow is a great OS and should receive continued support. It will inevitably become less secure without that.
But this is a user to user forum. Send your comment to feedback.

  • Are Things Looking Grim For Developer2000?

    Hi all D2K professionals,
There is a buzz in the S/W Scenario these days suggesting that D2K is down in a big way in the Mrket. Is this True?
I would like some comments from all experienced D2K Professional as well the Oracle Team (Both Forms and Reports Teams).

    Arora,
Yes, what u said is true. But, i can see in the S/w market that the demand for D2k guys are quite less as compared to ASP,VB etc.. The projects also are quite less preferred in D2k than in VB or PB.
    What do ya say ?

now, my views are something like below:
    1. on the database side, no one can beat oracle for the coming years, and that can be till infinity.
    2. on the front-end side, i have worked on vb, pb and d2k. and i have felt is that development of forms and reports with d2k is the easiest and the fastest.
    3. on the application server side, no one but oracle is offering a single platform for c/s and web deployment. so, you dont have to go for a heterogenous platform.

    Hi.
You can do it using ADF TaskFlows,Create two page fragments as index.jsff and home.jsff.Also need to create container page(.jspx) to add taskflow and finally need to run Content page. Then you can navigates page fragments within taskflow using controle flow case(navigation between page fragments).
    See:

  • Oracle on *nix - Are you fibbing?

I wanted to install the enterprise version on my Ubuntu/Debian machine so I could get work done at home. I read the doc and, sure it listed a small set of supported *nix OS's:
    Asianux 3.0
    Oracle Enterprise Linux 4/Oracle VM
    Oracle Enterprise Linux 5/Oracle VM
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4/Oracle VM
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/Oracle VM
    SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
but, what the heck I figured. Sure enough the install failed and I installed xe. Here's the the thing though: we run 10g on Solaris/SunOS at work and its not on the list.
    I suppose if you're a multi-billion dollar Fortune 50 company Larry'll bend the rules. : )

but, what the heck I figured. Sure enough the install
failed and I installed xe. Here's the the thing
though: we run 10g on Solaris/SunOS at work and
its not on the list. This is one of the more confusing posts I have seen in a long time.
    1) The original list you posted was of Certified Linux distros (which are all variants of the one Linux operating system). That list is the set of distros for which Oracle is willing to provide commercial support (and even then with restrictions), simply because the amount of time testing and troubleshooting becomes prohibitive when people can freely play with core libraries.
It is possible to install EE on a distro not on the list. With any install (ORacle or otherwise) you need to meet the prerequisites. Since Oracle does not provide a apt/deb/rpm for their commercial products, you need to meet those prerequisites manually. That tis a fairly easy task for someone who understands the workings of the Linux OS.
    2) By the title, you seem to imply that you looked at the complete list of Linux distros and Unix OSs. Yet you quote only Linux distros. Strange.
There are many people who would be upset seeing Solaris/SunOS (or HPUX or AIX) on the Linux list. If you want to see SOlaris, look at the complete list. The installation manuals are written by operating system and looking at the 'install manual' list at http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=11 might help
    3) XE is an unsupported edition of the 10gR2 database. It uses special .deb and .rpm install files rather than the standard Oracle Universal Installer. So the edition is unsupported and available on uncertified distros - implication is YOYO once installed.
If you really want to install EE on Ubuntu, follow some of the excellent guidelines found on the net (hint - use Google search for 'oracle on ubuntu', other engines should also work.) Just realize your environment will not be supported by Oracle, and updates and patches could easily break the enviroment.

  • Looking for a drum loop app that will run in the background. What are you using?

Looking for a drum loop app that will run in the background. Suggestions? What are you using? I tried Loopseque and I like it, but I can't make it run once I switch apps. Help please.

That's definitely strange, kzmidge. I want a working phone in your hands though. I noticed you mentioned you received the suggestion to complete a reset. Did you already do that? Is it working again? Are you receiving an error message?
If you hesitated a little longer to complete the reset, you can try to place your phone into Safe Mode http://vz.to/rxg0ii and see if you can access mobile sites from your browser. This mode will stop 3rd party applications from running, so you won't be able to use the apps you mentioned but we may be able to narrow down the trouble in Safe Mode. If the mobile sites work, that means the trouble may be in a recently downloaded application and you may be able to avoid the reset my uninstalling some of your more recently installed applications. If it's still giving you trouble, the reset http://vz.to/18wzOCi is the next best step.

  • Are you happy with your Galaxy S5?  I'm looking for a new phone.

Are you happy with you Galaxy S5?  I'm looking for a new phone.

Very happy after getting it to stop keeping the display lit after charging completes.  Battery life blows my Galaxy Nexus out of the water.  The GNex was like an electric car with a 30 mile range.  Always looking for a charge.  The S5's screen is gorgeous.  OLED is a must-have for me.  Signal strength is better than the GNex and the S5 is XLTE-ready so you can get faster speeds in those markets.  I got 69.08/18.95 in Kansas City back in May.  Other XLTE areas have had download speeds of high 20s to low 30s.  Performance is good.  The interface feels smooth and responsive.  I even like the look.  It's like something out of a 50s diner.
My only real gripe is the storage.  16 gigs is pretty sad these days and only 10 gigs are available.  I know you can add a 128 gig card (I have) but few apps load completely to the card.  Heck, lots of apps won't put anything on the card.  A flagship phone should have 32 and 64 gig options.
I also wish I could just load the bare OS and skip all the bells and whistles that Samsung's added.
