Are you using C++ AMP? We'd very much like to hear about it!

Hello ladies and gentlemen. I come to you cap in hand, with a gentle request: given that C++ AMP is no longer an infant, we (the team working on it) are curious about its uptake. To be more precise, we would appreciate hearing from the people that
are using it already, be it in production or for personal projects, and about their experience. This will help better guide our steps and educate our understanding of the market. So, if you can spare a bit of your time, please share:
your use case (e.g. I work for X and we are doing Y using Z because of W; this includes experimenting to see if C++ AMP would be useful for you);
what you like (including by comparison with other similar technologies e.g. OpenCL does A while C++ AMP does B and B is wonderful while A is awful);
what you do not like (including by comparison with other similar technologies e.g. OpenCL does D while C++ AMP does E and D is wonderful while E is awful);
what you would need from AMP to make it truly fit your use-case (e.g. generalized pointer support);
what were the blockers that prevented you from adopting AMP (e.g. no Linux support).

I'm using C++ AMP to accelerate some image processing algorithms in my machine vision software, which is part of our factory automation products.
•what you like(compared to OpenCL)
Easy to learn and easy to use for a C++ programmer.
No need to do pointer arithmetic.
No need to separate host and device code into different files so that the code is easier to maintain.
•what you do not like
Code compilation speed is not fast enough.
Still can't get the C++ AMP FFT library to work with my AMD discrete GPUs on Windows 8.1.
Unable to acess vendor-specific hardware capabilities(for example, AMD's media ops extension functions accessible in OpenCL).

That's definitely strange, kzmidge. I want a working phone in your hands though. I noticed you mentioned you received the suggestion to complete a reset. Did you already do that? Is it working again? Are you receiving an error message?
If you hesitated a little longer to complete the reset, you can try to place your phone into Safe Mode http://vz.to/rxg0ii and see if you can access mobile sites from your browser. This mode will stop 3rd party applications from running, so you won't be able to use the apps you mentioned but we may be able to narrow down the trouble in Safe Mode. If the mobile sites work, that means the trouble may be in a recently downloaded application and you may be able to avoid the reset my uninstalling some of your more recently installed applications. If it's still giving you trouble, the reset http://vz.to/18wzOCi is the next best step.

Final Cut Pro X witch Blu-ray Burner are you using ...

Using a Mac Pro Tower like the Mac Pro 2012 or similar what are the Blu-ray Internal Burners do you use ; LG or Pioneer , witch Model Number.
Creating Blu-ray on the Mac is fantastic but witch brand and model numbers for the Big Mac Pro Tower are you using with exellent results now.
On the Mac Apple Pro Apps or Roxio Toast Titanium are the only left options who are current and updated , but burners specified for Windows.
Frustration come when you talk to Apple they say not supported , Burners makers LG or Pioneer will say we dont offer support on the Mac.
Well if you can create Blu-ray on the Mac but cant get any help to burn it it is very frustrating and Not So Pro if Apple care for the Pro Users.

I use the new Mac Pro 2013. Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.4 and Maverick OS 10.9.5. An external Blu-ray burner LG BE14NU40. I've use single burn Blu-ray discs from brands like Maxell and Verbatim. That works fine. I have double layers Blu-ray discs not tried. I use it for home video’s.
DVD single works fine too. DVD double layers I have not tried but will also work i think. Reviews on LG USA stated that Roxio Titanium with corresponding plugin works.
I'm glad I found a blu-ray burner that works with FCPX. Compressor 4.1.3 but I have not been working with the LG burner. Not yet!

Are you using the new features?

Some of you were very loud about getting certain features for PlayStation 4 and some even complained that they weren't available on day day1.
You asked for suspend/resume, a media player, dlna, the ability to pause downloads and you got it.
So are you using these new features?

Suspend and resume... for endurance racing modes on PJ Cars...Theres no save race status, kill the game lose the hole 1 hour 30mins race... sleep mode is on so if you pause the game the PS4 powers down and saves the game status.... Tested DLNA don't need it allready used plex VIA web browser then the transcoding PS3 and PS4 app...Pause and cancel down loads used. Music player use for PJ cars... As people stated if you Do not Use any thing then they vanish from the dynamic menu on PS4...Most are not even on the console untill a User hits the down load option... (technicaly you could use the youtube app to watch this...)

Personally, I am determining that I like to use the MathScript Node in LabVIEW. It makes it easier for me to pass my data in and out of the LabVIEW environment!! But, like you, I am excited to see what any other users think!!

I was reading about the vulnerabilities in Adobe's Flash and decided to remove the offending package. I opened Chromium to make sure my Flash still worked, as I understood that Chromium implemented another method for rendering Flash stuff. I was wrong. For example, YouTube tells me that I need Flash 10 or higher. I tried to re-install the flashplugin package, but it is no longer in the repos.
I can live without Flash content, but it's nice to have.
So the question is, what are you using instead, that can be installed from the main repos?

I have installed both lightspark 0.4.3 and gnash 0.8.8, since lightspark should be able to 'fall back to gnash for older videos' (see changelog of lightspark).
I have tried some flash-websites in firefox and all of them seem to use gnash and there was 1 website that didn't load the content (www.deredactie.be - our national tvstation). So, I'm under the impression that lightspark is not used by firefox.
Has anyone found out how to do this?
Secondly, gnash should be able to use VA-API (hardware acceleration). Is it just a question to install libva and let gnash do the rest, or does one have to recompile gnash to build the support in?

PS: to whoever thinks flashplugin is the 'real flash': gnash has beaten it in terms of providing hardware acceleration. hooray for opensource!

What browser are you using with OS 9.x?

Would you all please state which internet browser you are using with OS 9.x and the strengths/weaknesses you are experiencing with it?
I switch back and forth between Mozilla and Internet Explorer but fewer and fewer websites work properly with them. If there is a better browser than those two I would add it to my old Wallstreet running 0S 9.1.
Again, what browser are you using with OS 9.x and what are its good/bad points?

I have an iCab filter set up for Yahoo on my OS 9.2.1 iMac.
For the URL string I use (asterisk)yahoo(asterisk)
For the Scripts filter I use the Netscape identity and have all versions checked except "JScript", and everything is checked in the "Allow" section.
For the Network filter I use the Firefox identity and have the HTTP "referer" set to "Always".
I don't use Yahoo Mail much on that machine, but those settings allow me to use the Address book to select addresses and send messages with attachments. (I'm not sure about viewing attachments, though, and I'm almost positive that address auto-complete doesn't work.)

That's exactly the idea of this discussion, to share the information we have about WS as dataservices...
In a demo i used a public WS to show a Dilbert image, i took the WS from the examples listed on <a href="http://www.esynaps.com/eSynaps_home.aspx">eSynaps</a> and works great!
But, we want to know if there are others than use WS internally or from publics api's and to share their experience here ..... or in the Wiki section of course

Limit Preview Size. Which setting are you using?

I'm not exactly sure how the Limit Preview Size preference affects my workflow. Which setting are you using, and why?
My preference is currently set to the v2.0 default 1/2 Size. My iMac's resolution is 1680x1050, and I'm using the Canon EOS 1D Mark III taking full size RAW images at 3888x2592.

I use the default (which is 1/2 size) with no ill effects. Previews are used by external programs to gain access to photos in your Aperture library. (This is not the way your external editor works, though.) Your preview size will not affect your workflow. When previews are turned on, Aperture works on generating previews when you have something new of which to make a preview. I seriously doubt that making a small copy, versus making a smaller copy, would affect how long it takes Aperture (and therefore, how sluggish Aperture might appear.) The difference between making previews and not making previews can be significant.

I can not tell you what people are using, but the pros and cons are as follows:
Webtools UserID (the exposed field on the BP contact)
This is the best option if you are willing to do the work of setting this property for all of you users in a meaningful way.
Pros: Allows you assign a meaningful login name for users of the website
Cons: You have to assign he userids (a lot of work if you have 10s of thousands of contacts)
EmailAddress
Pros: hopefully, everyone knows their email address. So this is a meaningful login name.
Cons: B1 does not require email address, so the user will probably end up with an OCPR ID if they don't have an email address.
B1 internal code
Pros: it always works
Cons: no wants to be a number. Your login name will be "1234", password = "whydoIhavesuchahorriblelogin"
Seek and Choose
I consider this the best option, unless you have a better algorithm to populate NPUserID than described below (let me know if you do )
The seek and choose routine works as follows:
1. if they have an NPUserID, user that
2. if they have an email address, user that
3. use the B1 internal code
Pros: User will have the best possible login name.
Cons: You do not know which option the user ended up with
One last note:
v630 (p10--or whatever we are calling it these days), has added a login name to the Webtools user. This addresses the glaring problem of not being able to change login name. Now the user can change their own login. (why did this take 5 years?). Hopefully, this will make this decision less daunting.

Well, before I got my Digital Rebel XT I dreamed of the Powershot S2 IS. Then the S3 came out...but I was hookoed on my Rebel XT. I hear the S5 is a monster...
Now, my 20D is probably more prosumer. I wouldn't call it a pro camera, although it is legendary for it's use on the sports areana and weddings by pros. For my money, any camera with a pop-up flash and automatic modes is not a pro camera. Having said that, I hope no one starts throwing eggs and tomatoes!
