Area just above battery getting extra hot

Recently the area just above the battery has started getting really hot. Is this normal? If not what is the cure?

I'm now having the same overheat problem with my HP tx2-1370 original battery after ordering a replacement charger from HP. I did not have battery overheat problems prior to replacing the charger [background: I ordered a replacement charger from HP to replace the damaged original charger (HP Part# 534092-001, 18.5V/3.5A output); guidance on back of the original charger says to replace original charger with HP Spare #381090-001. However, sent me HP Replacement Charger Part# 683715-001 (19.5V/3.33A. /output).] Watt-wise the replacement charger is ~0.3% hotter than the original. Is it more likely the new charger's higher voltage output is responsible for the overheating battery?

  • I have iPad model number MC706B/A and battery gets very hot quickly and also discharges from 100% to 0 in under an hour with onyl one app going.  Brightness res turned right down also to stop over use on battery.

    Hi All,
I am getting increasingly frustrated at the battery grossly overheating ( as in cannot hold it on legs as gets too hot) also that I have to keep it on constant charge a other wise it discharges from 100% to zero in well under and hour.  Is this a battery or design fault of this particular model.  Its not even a year old but I also know whilst they brought it out in March 2012 they discontinued in October 2012...
Can anyone assist as Apple lcearly want nothing to do with a now defunct model and I am thinking that perhaps with the backing of the Trading Standards Authority and the Office of Fair Trading, Apple might just want to sit up and listen as up until now they have not.  They simply suggest that I should trade up!!!

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

my battery (serial A1045 HQ344) gets really hot - unbearable on my legs even through trousers. has anyone else had this problem. as it is not covered by the recall program is there a way of alerting apple to it? i have read the other posts on hot batteries.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Call AppleCare. In the UK there is this number:
    (44) 0870 876 0753
Though according to this article, that amount of heat is not unheard of:

If you see other symptoms or your hardware test:

reveals something abnormal about your machine, definitely give AppleCare a call.
Note your machine is under a 1 year hardware warranty when you buy it, and if you buy AppleCare before that one year is up, you can extend both hardware and software Apple coverage to 3 years from computer's purchase.
Otherwise you are given a per incident fee, and repair costs for parts and labor out of the Applecare plan if something needs repair. For more on how AppleCare works, see this page:

  • My battery gets really hot

In the last few weeks my Macbookpro gets really hot and my battery that attaches also gets really hot. Should I replace the battery charger?

Before doing that, what are the battery's statistics from the apple in the upper left corner, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Power, the Condition of the battery, capacity, charge remaining, voltage, current.
The Condition should say Normal, if not, may need service.

  • Battery gets very hot during use and doesn't last long, fan runs at high speed, computer won't shut down

Macbook Air isn't a year old and I don't leave it plugged in ever. The battery might last 2 hours and gets very hot. In addition the fan runs at a very high speed. The computer won't shut down in a normal way. I have to hold the power button down to shut it off. Can someone suggest something please.
    Thanks.

  • Macbook Pro battery getting too hot

    Hi,
I got my macbook nearly 2 months ago. its 2012 13"macbook pro n i have running mountain lion 10.8.2.The left side gets too much hot.i think its battery. its my clothes like jeans which keep me save otherwise, it would burn my skin! the heat up happens within 15-30 mins. i have istat and its telling me my fan exhaust is between 3k-4k.sometimes it even goes to 6.5k. I also have issue of battery. i read that after 10.8.2 update the battery isssue get solved but mine got worse. i get 3 to 3.5 hours tops. what is wrong. should i get it fixed because its just months old and being so much heat up n instead of 7 hrs i get 3 hrs.

    What programs are running?
This is the biggest factor in battery life and fan speed. For example, I have Safari open at the moment. If I open World of Warcraft my computer will do exactly what you have described and if I close it again it will go back to "normal".

  • HT201359 Some apps are just rip offs get rid of them such as the emoji cons! Yes, I fell for it too and I'm not a happy user. :(

I would and many others who purchased this app (emoji) this comes free under our setting on our phones but of course us new users wouldn't know that till after this app is purchased. I do feel we should be accredited on our accounts and this app removed or we will be deterred to purchase any more from the App Store. I think as us being customers we should come first, don't you?

My hp f700 battery gets very hot. Should i be concerned

So a 5 year old battery? Time for a new one. On a laptop of that age you can certainly get by with a "compatible" i.e. non-Genuine battery.

  • Blackberry Q10 battery gets hot.

Recent Issue:  My BB Q10 battery gets very hot, especially when not in use.  It also begins to discharge very rapidly.  During that time, It will not allow me to make or receive calls or text.  It sometimes affects e-mailing.  My provider replaced the sim card and that seemed to resolve the problem for about 10 days.  Now it's back and they say it's the battery.  Has anyone had a similar issue?

It's common for all Smartphones to get warm. It has something to do with the processor.
A dual core processor will split the work load in half 50/50 = 100%
A quad core processor will split the work load four ways 25/25/25/25 = 100%
The more cores a smartphone has the easier it process data and has less stress on the battery.
If you smartphone is using a lot of power (not battery power) it will become warm. This only happens to me on my Q10 & Z30 when I play Total Conquest, my device will start to become warm as soon as I open the game.
The BlackBerry Passport has a quad core so it shouldn't be a problem but in the mean time, if your worried your device is getting to warn. Stop what tour doing, close the App or whatever your doing completely and leave it to cool down. It should only take a few minutes to cool down.

  • MBP in lid closed mode, will the display get to hot?

i run my MBP in lid closed mode all of the time, as i have a Cinema Display hooked up. i'm not too worried about the MBP overheating, but i was wondering about the display getting extra hot from the MBP when it's closed. i do have a radtech microfibre cloth on top of the keys as protection...
    should i be concerned?
    17" MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm interested in this issue too, as I intend to get an MBP but use it with an external screen and keyboard most of the time.
I'd also like to know about ventilation - where does the cooling air come from and go to? What parts need to be kept clear, and which bits can I have up against or close to a bookshelf or hutch or whatever?
    Thanks in advance.
PS, I think the glossy screens look fantastic, but also think I'll go for matte since they are more practical.

  • Macbook Pro 17 (early 2009) gets really hot and MagSafe Charger.

My Macbook Pro 17 (early 2009) just recently started getting VERY hot after about 15 minutes of normal use. Even hotter faster with fan blowing like crazy when using programs such as quicktime (recording). According to my Mac HD, I have 168 GB available out of 285 GB capacity. The laptop gets very hot especially in the top left corner area around where the charger plugs in. And yes it is on flat surface. Any ideas on why this is doing this?
On top of the laptop getting hot, the original charger that came with it doesnt charge all the time. The white box where the AC plug is gets very hot as well. I bought a new MagSafe charger (the new "L" type) literally a year ago and the box on this one also gets VERY hot and the connector with LED light (part that connects to laptop) get EXTREMELY hot. Any help would be appreciated. My apple care is up and I think its rediculous to have to pay for any type of support now. Thanks.

some thing is runnng in the back ground. Or your email is struck. Deleted all emails and reboot phone and add them one by one. Or your sim cards has problem. Replace sim card. If nothing works drain battery then recharge battery to 100% full charge.
