Areca (argh) installing drivers - windows
I rekon areca's manual and website were written by the devil himself or at least one of his little minions.
And all that waffle about creating a floppy? What is this 1995?
Anyhoo, I downloaded the drivers, found the raid controller?? in device manager and installed the drivers, I can now see the drive in disk managment. My question is: is that it?
I mean if it is I could've written that in 1 para, rather than 5 pages of the manual. Oy! Do I need the http proxy if I'm just using the didks locally?
And finally is there any advantage to specifying separate volumes in the volume set in the bios, as opposed to doing that in windows? (currently have one great big drive which I'm turning into smaler volumes).

You can define multiple array sets in the BIOS, for instance a 4 disk raid5 and a second 4 disk raid5 instead of one 8 disk raid5 or 50. That would achieve your purpose nicely in that you can used different drive letters for each array. There is one downside however and that is speed. If we take the transfer speed of a single disk as T and N as the number of disks in the array, then a parity array (3 or 5) will have a speed of around:
(N - 1) * T * 0.85 which translates to 2.55 T in the case of a 4 disk array and 5.95 T in the case of a 8 disk array.
The alternative is suffering the pain once by pointing PR to the new location of your files and saving this project.

Blue Screen after Installing Drivers Windows 7
So I am running Bootcamp 3. I have installed Windows 7 Home Premium. After I install the drivers from the Apple OS X CD and restart I get a blue screen of death. I can reboot in safe mode. I can boot into Windows normally but it crashes after about 45 seconds.
I have tried this on two identical Mac Pro. When it crashes it sites Cache_Manager.

On a Bootcamped Windows 7 x64 system, that's likely to be the AppleHFS.sys driver. There's some troubleshooting advice in the following thread at Macrumors:

My daughter gave me a new Ipod (Nano) for Christmas. I had no problem download my songs from my old Ipod (Shuffle) to the new one. However - since I do not buy songs on a regular basis, I did not buy a new song until 4/29/13. Now for information...sometime in March my old laptop died, completely. I had to go buy a new one - which I did and this new one has Windows 8 Operating System on it (which I hate, btw).
Now, when I bout a song on Tuesday, the song did not go to my new Ipod. I tried everything and finally had to talk to a tech - who was very kind in helping me and we did get all my songs from Itunes to this new computer. I thought the song I bought would then go on the Ipod - but it did not. I had already hung up from the tech - since we had been talking on the phone for about an hour. He informed me that he was giving me a "courtesy break" because it has been over 90 days since my new Ipod was purchased ---- just my darn luck!
Anyway, I have figured out on my own that the new Ipod Nano is not synced with the new laptop with Windows 8. I have been trying for the last 2 hours to get it to do so and in doing so, found out that Windows 8 is not mentioned in any of the help forums. So...my question is: Do I need to install drivers on the computer or what? I will not be purchasing anymore music from Itunes until I get this matter resolved. Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.

How do I install bootcamp drivers windows 8 (mainly trackpad)
I installed windows 8 conumer preview using bootcamp. I download the drivers to my flash drive, but when i try to install them it says I need a computer running windows 7. I tried running in compatibility mode the way many people say to for installing on windows 8 but that did not work. I also tried to install all the drivers i needed indevidually and that worked, but there is one problem. I can only left click on the trackpad and I connot two finger scroll.
If anybody could help me either get the drivers to fully install or simply get right click and scrolling to work it would be awsome!
If it makes a difference i am running snow lepered on my mac partition om my macbook pro 15 inch 8,2 from mid 2011 (the first quad core one).When you are on Lion, yes and if you have any 2011 model, definitely. mid-2011 was about where Lion was about to come out. And the old drivers just do not do a good job on those systems.
I'd even buy Lion and just put it on an external drive. If you want then use Setup Assistant to make it currrent with your settings, and clone it back to where SL was (might want to clone SL if you need it though and don't need or can't use Lion for some reason).
Someone else was unable to see Troubleshoot via control-click and I took a screen shot to show that "64.mi" does normally have options for how to run from Properties while theirs lacked that. Which seems to me like an issue with Windows installed on their system and not elsewhere.
You did a clean install of 8-CP too? -

i have repeated this whole process 3 times already, it has taken 8 strait hours of my time and i still have had no success.
QUICK SUMMERY
To put it simply, After windows is up and running on my mac, the wireless network wont work, so i cannot download the hot fix, and the support driver files from bootcamp will not open because it says they are not "32 Valid" ?. But im using a 64bit disk.
The wireless network adaptor automatically doesn't work on windows right after installation,
so i had to load the Hot Fix onto an SD card along with the bootcamp drivers, then open the hotfix file in windows.
The first time i was able to install the fix, windows restarted and installed the update, logged back on... and nothing changed.
At that point i attempted to open the "Setup" file in the bootcamp support folder, and an error message came up saying it wasn't valid.
LONGER EXPLANATION OF MY COMPLETE PROCESS: (to cancel out any questions)

its some old fashion coded page that has a bunch of apple drivers you can download by pasting one of the codes in your browser,
i searched for bootcamp support drivers, and found the code for my exact model (Mac Pro 8,2)
i was able to manually downloaded the drivers instead of using bootcamp assistant.
As a side note,
i was able to download the bootcamp drivers via boot camp assistant after the 5th try,
so now i have both files that i know are supposed to work 100%. they are loaded and unzipped on an SD card like they are supposed to be for when i open windows.
I have a Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit CD from the inlaws so i used that CD after i partitioned my drive in bootcamp.

once windows was finished installing,
it automatically would not detect a network card, so i couldn't connect to the internet and download the apples bug fix. (The Hot fix)
instead i downloaded the hot fix on a separate SD card, turned windows back on and loaded the hot fix from the SD card.
Windows installed the hot fix update, restarted, but nothing changed.
Ive even tried skipping right to uploading the drivers, and windows wont activate the support because it says its not "32 Valid"
I completely removed windows 7 vis bootcamp to rinse and repeat hoping i made a simple mistake, but no same thing happened.
Conclusion
-im Wondering if i should "Istall important Windows Updates" during the begining of windows preperation...
maybe that will fix the issues of it not reconizing wierless network, and not being able to upen up the bootcamp file?

Just for your information, as it doesn't seem you have ever used BC.
When starting the boot camp assistant the first thing it want to do is download the Windows Support drivers and asks you to save them to a DVD, it will also allow you to save them to your OS X hard drive or to any drive connected to the system. Once those drivers are downloaded it then starts the Win install. What you must do is copy those support drives to a media that Windows can See and Read from. Like a DVD or a thumb drive formatted FAT32
No where in the OPs post does he say anything about fooling with any partitions on his internal drive other then creating the BC partition.
His problem is he saved those support files to a Mac OS X formatted external drive. Windows can not read Mac Extended (Journaled) formatted drives. So he can't load the drivers for Windows until he copies those support files ove to something that Windows can read. -
After running bootcamp, DVD drive is detected by Windows 8. But after installing drivers, no longer can detect. Device Manager shows that DVD drive is unplugged! Drivers in Bootcamp “removed” the DVD drive. I think there is an issue because I reinstalled Windows 8. If I don't install driver, then I have reduced functionality (no Apple keyboard, no sound etc), but once I install driver, I lose my DVD drive.
Hi, guys, I have had the exact same problem since the summer of 2010. Here's what I was able to find out.
Deleting upper/lower filters, running all those Fix Ya programs and other Microsoft crap is useless. This problem is most certainly has nothing to do with registry of any software on your computer. I took my HP 9620us to a couple of repair places and, they tried a lot of things and it appears that the root of this problem is a faulty motherboard connection. Of course, it costs about 400 bucks to fix it so I'm not sure I want to pay this kind of money.
Anyway, if somebody was able to fix it PLEASE post here to let us know. Again I am 99 per cent sure it's some piece of hardware in the motherboard. -

First thing which you should install is chipset driver:

Important note!
You will need to reboot your system after installing chipset driver.
It's recommended to install all Windows Updates.
Why? AMD machines with nVidia graphic cards are very quickly overheated after installing Windows 7. This simple solution will fix this problem. You will need to install as quick as possible graphic driver. Which is available through Windows Update too.

What I am wondering is if I can install Windows 7 on my iMac 2014 without using BCA to install drivers and using the manual download Support software without bricking my system. The District is right to say what they told you they can't install Disctrict Windows 7 on your computer because they have a license agreements with MS and doing so will violate their Terms of Agreement. And you shouldn't be asking something like that to start with. If that laptop can't install Windows 7 it then your stuck with WIndows 8 unless HP has downgrade to go back to Windows 7 on it otherwise if none exist you will not get any drivers or support for it. You best luck is to find a used Windows 7 laptop and order the HP recovery media for it and wipe it clean to factory install and register it to you and that will give you a Windows 7 maching to start with.

I have installed the Windows 8 on my MacBook using BootCamp already, but I cannot install drivers for Windows now: I've got only BootCamp 3 disk and it doesn't goo even if I start it using compatibility options. And my BootCamp on Mac didn't offer me to burn cd with drivers for windows as I saw in many instructions. How can I resolve the problem? Thanks a lot.
Go back to Boot Camp: on the 2nd page you get this:
Download the support software and as Windows is already installed uncheck the 2nd box. -

Xmod not auto-installing drivers under Windows XP 64-
The specs list support for Windows XP 64-bit, but when I tell it to automatically find and install drivers it says it can't find the necessary drivers. Creative support said they don't have stand-alone drivers for this and that it "should work".
Can anyone please help? The Xmod shows up in Device Manager with a yellow exclimation mark.
