Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset, stuttering sound?

Just yesterday I picked up these new headphones and lets be honest, they aren't cheap.
I loved how comfortable they were and easy to install. But I was less impressed with the sound.
Playing songs in iTunes, the songs sounded muffled, like they needed more treble. Yet oddly, other songs which I knew had high treble, sounded ok. But just ok.
But perhaps my biggest issue is that when any song is playing either in iTunes or another player, the sound stutters.
The best way to describe it is, imagine your playing a song in itunes and at the same time pushing your PC to its limits, extracting a 2GB rar, converting a video, installing a game etc all at the same time. There will be an effect on the system and the sound will stutter as it struggles. But I get this when my computer is just playing music and only with these new headphones. Its because its USB im sure.
So what is the solution? I got these off ebay brand new, so getting a refund will not happen.
I used the driver off the website.

Its really frustrating. I've been watching AVI files and get the same problem every so often. Ive even "rewound" the video to make sure it was a fault with it but no. These headphones are perfect except this. come on Creative, help me out here.
Update: I have uninstalled the creative software and used just the built in drivers for windows 7. There is a noticable improvement. There is some slight issues every so often but its alot better than it was before. Although that isnt saying much, its still seriously IRRITATING.

  • How does one enable Stereo Mix on the Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset

I'm usually streaming games and I picked up this headset to replace my old gear.
I've noticed in 32-bit XP Pro I do not have the option to enable stereo mix which was how i was able to stream game audio and commentary on.
Does a work around exist to enable stereo mix or to otherwise transmit audio from both the input and playback sources?
BTW I've also posted this on the Livestream forums to see if I can get a bite.

Is there anything you guys can do to help me?
The closest article I could find to this problem was here http://forums.creative.com/t5/Headphones-Headsets/Sound-Blaster-Arena-problem/m-p/558966#M2001. So it appears I must wait for an admin to help.

    Thanks!
    Very handy info.
I went to http://rma.creativelabs.com/OnlineRMA/EnterProduct and that section required I have a legit serial number.

  • Problem: Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset

    Hello
I have one of these Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset, which are 7..
I have Windows 7 as OS on my computer and it gives me a few problems.
W7 recognises the headset as a "Stereo" headset. The headset has a Sound Card of it's own and uses the drivers that come with the Installation CD for Surround settings that are mad in Audio Control Panel or Creative Entertainment Console.
    This is a problem.
For example. Playing Call of Duty 5: World at War.
The audio settings on this game, always (and is unchangeable) goes after the default Audio Device. And then it recognises my Headset. And puts in STEREO config. Since it was W7 recognises, and I cant change that on the game and neither on the Audio Settings on the computer. Which make the subwoffer and Surround effects useless which is a hard bummer, since it's such an awesome headset and is totally awesome when i play Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
I really want to know how I can fix this! Please help me. Any settings or special config in the cfg files you can do on Call of Duty 5 or and settings or stuff I can do to change so W7 recognises my headset with the 7.!

I contacted Creative. They will not help me. If anyone has a Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset and would be willing to open up the plastic housing on the USB end to tell me what goes where I would greatly appreciate it. Also the plastic housing will go back together. If any additional info is necessary, please inquire.

  • Arena Surround Usb Gaming Headset broken?

I received an Arena Surround Usb Gaming Headset about 6 months ago as a gift, and up until yesterday it was working perfectly on my Windows XP gaming machine.
Now when I plug it in one of two things happens. Sometimes it immediately fails, producing only a clicking or popping sound approximately every second. The rest of the time it works fine for a couple minutes before entering the same fail state, occasionally crashing audio programs running at the time. Unplugging it and plugging it back in will sometimes fix it temporarily, but this is obviously not an acceptable solution.
Since it worked perfectly for 6 months over which I didn't change any hardware or drivers, I do not believe this is a problem with my other hardware (not my sound card since my speakers still work fine) or drivers. Fiddling with the cable seems to cause the failure state within a few seconds, which leads me to believe the problem lies with the cabling or USB connector.
Is this a known problem with this product? If it is, is there any solution to it? If there's no way for me to fix it myself, what are my chances of this being covered by the manufacturer's warranty?

  • Sound Blaster ARENA Surround USB Gaming Headset

So I've had this headset for a little under twenty four hours and I've had a couple issues. One is that with the drivers installed(I'm on windows 7 32 bit for anyone who wants to know) The mic is permanantly on. Its frustrating to hear myself talk when I'm on vent. I'm also having some issues with a very quiet background buzz. I can only notice it when there is no sound. I've discovered that it is linked to the in-line volume contol, specifically the small red light on it. The reason I believe this is that when I turn the button to mute the mic, the light blinks. the buzz disappears and comes back every time the light comes on. I've been wondering what I should do. is this something I can just fix with drivers? or is this something I should RMA?

    Hi Syleion,
Have you enabled the Silencer feature? It should suppress background noise. Also try reducing the amount of EAX effects to see if it helps.

  • (MODE PROBLEM) Fatal1ty Usb Gaming Headset HS-1000

Hi, yesterday I bought my "Fatalty Usb Gaming Headset HS-000" .
I installed it with the CD, and started messing around with some configurations etc.
I realised that the sound was okay in game, but not perfect so I wanted to set some settings.
Anyhow I googled what best settings suit for cs .6 , and I found that someone asked the same question, I saw on his
Creative Audio Controll panel, he had a tab called "MODE".
    There were 3 modes
    - Entertainment mode
    - Gaming mode
    - Audio Creation mode
    picture: http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3339/settingstw6.jpg
I hadn't realised there were 3 modes, so I opened my Creative Console Launcher, and I realised it says
"Entertainment Mode" to the top left...
So I too tried to open Creative Controll panel, and I found that the "Modes" Tab was missing.
I went to the site and downloaded latest driver, restarted computer, and tried again, it was still missing..
I searched Creative folder for "game" and found a file called "ModeGame.crl"
Which means it has to be there.. but I dont know how to switch mode to game?
    Please help me Fast!

  • How do I set up a USB gaming headset

I am using venttrillo and skype. I have bought two seperate USB gaming headsets but neither of them work. I also have a PC and they will not work on that computer either.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong or do you have any suggestions as to what I can do to get the headset working?
    Thanks!

usb is a serial digital bus it does not carry audio
so the way the usb headset works is they are usb soundcards (sound cards which use a lot more cpu power then normal soundcard but soundcards all the same)
for usb soundcards to work one need a driver from the usb gaming headset maker
if they don't provide a driver and the generic usb audio chipset they likely use don't have a generic driver they can't work

  • Using the creative faltality USB gaming headset's microphone alone.

    Hello,
Sometimes when I use my headset, I perfer to use the mircohpnone on the headset alone and wears the headset on the neck. This has been going on well with the traditional headset where I can just plug the microphone (pink) in. However, when I get the USB gaming headset today, I found that it automatically disable the sound from the speaker when I conntect the USB cable. How can I set it so I only use the microphone on the headset and can still listen thru my speakers? Thanks

As far as I know, this part is not available separately. It comes with the whole headset package. I'm sorry but I don't know of any store that sells this item. Message Edited by Loi-CL on 05-27-2009 06:05 AM

  • Anyone using USB gaming headset w Windows 10 and Skype?

Use of Realtek microphones built into laptops (line in or the ones on the laptop screen bezel) is broken in Skype 7.7 and Windows 10.  There are tons of posts here complaining about low mic levels or mics not working at all after upgrading to Win 10 after drivers are updated. Bluetooth headsets seem to work. Maybe USB headsets do too? Anyone here using USB gaming headsets sucessfully w Skype?  I'd rather find out here before rushing out to buy one ... TIAAlokePS: the problems seem to be w Skype.  Other apps (like Google Hangouts, speech recognition) work w mics and Win 10 without any problems

I have about 10 laptops using a Realtek chipset that don't have issues in Windows 10.  Realtek like many chipset manufacturers make tons of models.    You can always run across a model or set of models that are buggy with their drivers.   You have the option of trying out their latest drivers or even forcing the Microsoft High Definition drivers in Windows 10.  Those solutions have solved some people's problems so I don't see how the issue is exactly created by Skype since alternate drivers work. I have tested the Xbox 360 wireless controller and headset port in Windows 10 and it didn't work properly with the whole OS without me updating to the generic drivers.  Everything I've personally noticed affected the whole OS and not just Skype. I also just tested my Creative Fatality analog headset with Logitech USB adpater and the USB version of the same headset.  Both worked just fine in Windows 10 and I heard myself strong and clear in the Skype echo test.

  • Is the Fatal1ty USB Gaming Headset HS-1000 for Mac compatible with a PC?

    Hi,
I mistakenly purchased the Fatal1ty USB Gaming Headset HS-1000 for Mac instead of the PC version.
Are these still compatible with my PC even though they say "for Mac"? They have a USB connector just like my headphones and I have had people say that they "should" work, but I wanted to verify this.
I already had one pair that I purchased a while back for my PC and they work great but my wife wanted these also and I didn't realize there were two versions. If they will still work with a PC, I will just keep them. I just didn't want to open them up and find out that they don't.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I found something else out , the MIC is recoginized at startup when i have the problem , but not the headphones .

  • Fatality USB gaming headset problem

My headset is connected via the usb cord to the computer. It has worked perfect until now. Whenever I start a program or check the volume settings for the microphone it simply turns off. The LED light on the controller turns off as well. For example, if I go into sound settings in vista and click on the "recording tab" the led light turns off. The led light is on whenever I do other things and I can hear sounds all the time. If I go into skype and connect a call the led light also turns off and people can't hear me. What can I do about this?
    Please help me out guys
    //Fredrik

Short answer seems to be that you are pretty much S.O.L.
I purchased the same headset, non-USB version, about 15 months ago. Having my own microphone issue but customer service cites a 12 month warranty and won't help.

  • HS-1200 Gaming Headset No Sound

Here is the steps that I have done, tell me if I am missing anything. 1. Installed Software that came with the headset. 2. Let it charge over night 3. Paired the Receiver and the Headset - steady blue light on both devices 4. Changed Playback devices in the control Panel to HS-1200 Headset. 5. Verified Volume is set to 50%, tested 100%, tested volume controls on the headset itself. VLC Player went to 100% volume using the controls. 6. Tested Sound in DXDIAG 7. Installed the latest drivers from the Creative Site, I believe its Web Update 2 8. Rebooted the computer 9. Switched the Receiver from the front case USB port just in case it does not provide enough power and hooked in into a Motherboard USB port. I am using XP SP3, I do have another sound card in the computer that is a SB X-Fi Audio, should I disable that as well?

I did open a ticket shortly after I initially posted here and got the point where it went to the escalation team who only sent me a link to the troubleshooting faq on the main page. I did test the headset on two other computers, one a laptop running Win7 and a Work computer running XP. I was able to insert the Receiver into both computers without running the installation disc or disabling the soundcards and got sound. Tonight, I tried something by just inserting the receiver. It will install, but I still get no sound. If I do scan for hardware changes, I get a Unknown device but I have no idea what it is. There is obviously something wrong with my computer as it works everywhere else I have tried.

  • HS-1000 Fatalty USB Gaming headset Mic Issues

so i bought this thing from newegg and had it for almost a week now... still having problems with the mic. basically it's not working.
for one thing when i bought it i was asuming that the creative consol would read it as the head phones where plugged in and act accordinly but it doesnt. for another thing i enabled the mic and turned everything on through the creative consol, still doesnt work. initially the mic would have a big red X over it for some reason and i'd always have to turn it on just too use it. but it still doesnt work at all. i dont know if this is a sound card problem or a probelm with the headset. so either way im at a loss.
ii tried it with a standard mic and plugged it into the back, it seems too work from their and i can get it too come up on the sound recorder, but with this USB thing it's not...
anyone that had similar problems with this thing know what's going on? Im using the Sound Blaster X-fi Platinum Sound card with driver version 2.18.0004. i have heard reports from people who bought the same sound card that the mic evenutually dies on the system. im wondering if mine finally just went out or something. either that or its a vista-32 bit thing.
    i dunno,
    any help would be appreciated.
