Argh! My iTunes 7 is screwed!

Well i downloaded itunes 7 last week and nothing was wrong except that it could only play music properly when the volume was on maximum, when it was on any other volume setting, the audio becomes fuzzy and distorted.
But today, when i opened iTunes, i couldn't play any of the songs.. When i click on a song that i want to play it stays at 0:00.. and i've tried clicking on other songs, but it won't work either.
i've restarted it once and its still having that problem.. so im not sure what's wrong =/ please help !!

I have the same problem too! Very bad quality, especially when I go to the new flip-over-the-covers- function the systems really slows down, makes the sound go crazy and bad and freezes my Pc for several seconds! Hoep they'll make a quickk update with these bugs corrected!
Anyone have an idea?

  • ITunes playlists all screwed up...HELP!

So I opened itunes today and I noticed that all of the playlists I have got scrambled. The songs are still there, but the order is screwed up on all of them and I need songs to be in specific order on most of them. Is there anyway to revert back to the original order??
    Thanks

Also, with Shuffle turned off you can click on the header of any column to sort by that column. In a playlist, if you click on the extreme left column that has the row numbers, you can manually reorder any tracks you want.

  • ITunes music all screwed up

    Hello.
I like to think of myself as a very proficient Macintosh user. However, from time to time, things stump me. This is one of those things.
So, I was manually adding some folders (the way iTunes likes to organize them, by artist titled folders) in the proper directory (iTunes was open) but my songs didn't show up. So, I closed it and opened it back up again. Nope, nothing. So I moved the iTunes Database File (what is this file??? please explain what this is even for..) one directory up. Big mistake... All my stuff was gone. So I thought that at this point it wasn't too bad, because I thought I could reverse it back. I was wrong. I moved it back and it just converted the original database file to the new one (the one with no songs)! So now I have a new database file that has lost all the information that I needed. Maybe I would better understand the issue if I knew what those were really for. But aha! I didn't stop there. I impulsively trashed iTunes' .plist file. Now I was really in for it! Not only were all my songs "gone" (I know, I know, they're not gone, I have them all neatly organized in folders by artists, it's just that iTunes can't see them) but I was about to go through a set up wizard. But I didn't stop there! I completed the setup wizard, making one mistake along the way: To have iTunes search for my music for me and import it. So now I have every audio file being imported into my library, but they would go in by doubles, triples, and sometimes even quadruples! I got really scared then. iTunes gave me a warning saying that there wasn't enough room for it to copy all the music into it's library. Good! I don't want it to! (Does it mean copy, literally? Like duplicate? Would that explain the pairs that were imported?) So now I am really all screwed up. Ahh, the consequences of mucking with files you shouldn't be mucking around with. While it was determining gapless playback information, I stopped it. Somehow, the duplicates went away, I think. But there are still lots left. What should I do? Where can I startover? I don't like this! I just want the music in my iTunes music folder to be put into my library exactly how it is. Acutally, it's quite similar to the request of this http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=854588&tstart=0 user. (Sorry, I don't know how to make hyperlinks)
    Can anybody offer ANY suggestions?
    Thanks for your time,
    Sam M.

If I remember your problems started when you moved things from within the Finder. The plist was just fine. If you trash the plist then iTunes will generate a fresh default plist. You will need to set your prefs before continuing. The Library file is related to the data base of tunes not your prefs. The plist is related to your prefs and not your Library file.
You should be able to open iTunes - blank library in the main window then 'add' the tunes back into the library. You can use the File menu 'Add to Library' (+O) or you can navigate via the finder to the tunes and drop them into the main iTunes window. +O is the easiest for me. You will get the same result. Navigate from within iTunes - not the Finder. iTunes will ask you the path.
Now comes the potential messy part. If you grab an folder that has multiple albums in it - i.e.: Beatles White album + Sgt. Peppers - and add those to the library at the same time you will likely get the tunes out of album order- iTunes will add a couple of White Album then a couple of Sgt. Peppers then a couple of White etc. If using the 'Date Added' as the view then it looks really disorganized. So if that is a view that you normally use and order is important to you then it will take some time to add tunes back in an orderly fashion. If order is not important and using the sort by 'Album' is suitable for you then never mind. Try a couple and you will see what I mean. You can add multiple folders back at the same time if you want.

  • ITunes buttons are screwed up!

after installing iTunes 7 on my Mac, the buttons on the bottom (repeat, shuffle, etc) are all screwed up, and I have no idea how to fix it. Heres what I mean:
    http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/8050/picture1pu4.jpg
    Mac Mini 1.25Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Plug it into your computer. Go to iTunes. Click on the iPod icon in the sidebar of iTunes. Click on the Summary tab. Click on the restore button. This will delete everything from your iPod, so you will have to re-sync all movies, music, pictures, contacts and anything else you have on it. If you are using the disk-mode option, it will wipe all this data too, so be sure to back these files up before you embark on the restore procedure.
If none of this works, and the buttons have failed rather than the iPod just needing to be restored then it is still under warranty if you only purchased it in October. You will almost certainly qualify for repair or replacement if the iPod is faulty. This may not be the case if the iPod shows any sign of damage due to damaged as a result of being dropped etc
And you can always work your way through the Apple hints at the following link:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
If this doesn't resolve the problem, you should probably get in touch with Apple Support:

    Good luck

  • 2.0 & iTunes 7.1 Screwed Original iPhone Big Time!

It seems a lot of people are having issues with 2.0 and 7.1 iTunes but wondering if anyone is seeing these issues. I've add my original iPhone since Day 1 release (yes, 4 hours in line) and have been preaching the praises of Apple and this phone for the past year, I cannot be without it. Now with 2.0 and 7.1, I AM ******!
Nothing has worked correctly since this download. My touchscreen is f'd. I cannot forward email, the button simply does not work when pressed. The 'Save Picture' also does not work when pressed. I managed to become a master at typing on the touchscreen keyboard and now when I touch the letters they are highlighted as the correct letters, but a completely different letter shows up on the screen and AutoCorrect doesn't even recognize it. My caps lock will come on on its own and the delete button gets stuck on and deletes multiple lines of tex. Everything with this recent download has brought my phone to a crawl in addition to constant lock ups and reboots.
There are many others, but the biggest is the touchscreen issue. Are there others out there having the same issue? If there is a fix, please let me know, otherwise, Apple, how the **** did you miss such a simple software test?
Also, I want to move to 3G, anyone having these screen issues with 3G?

Short, I guess we were posting the same issue at the same time--or else I would've just replied to your thread w/o beginning my own. Agreed. Same issues as you (and more) since 2.0 and iTunes updates.
I really hope there is a fix because this stinks.

  • My itunes library got screwed up some how. When i goto play a song in my library it says original file can not be located. how do i locate them

when i go to play the selected song it says original file can not be found. do you want to locate the file. how do i locate the file?

Have you moved, renamed or deleted the original files?
Has another programme on your computer moved, renamed or deleted the files?
Have you just created this iTunes Library?
Have you recently added the missing music music from an external hard drive?
If it's none of the above, what have you been doing recently? For example, have you been "sorting" your files in your file manager?

  • ARGH! iTunes Freezes, Can't Force Quit, and Whole Computer Locks Up

iTunes freezes when downloading movies (says to check network connection, which is fine), then I can't quit iTunes or force quit. I "quit" and it remains active in the dump at the bottom of the screen.  Then Safari freezes and I can't do anything but use the on/off switch to re-boot. I've removed iTunes and re-installed. Didn't fix the problem.
Of note, iTunes downloads a little bit at a time the movie files, so after off and on rebooting and trying to re-download each time, after a few days the movies eventually download.
    Any ideas?

I have the problem when I have to force quit. I also have the pinwheel for no apparent reason and have to wait until it stops to do anything. It is frustrating as it does not happen in Safari. I like to use Firefox but it is getting very annoying. I have the pinwheel pop up when I am even typing. I tried your suggestions about starting it up in safe mode and that doesn't seem to work.

  • Updating IPOD Software has screwed up my Itunes

I updated my IPOD last night with the latest software, and now, my Itunes is all screwed up. The play counts and ratings appear to have been randomly mixed, and my purchased music won't install on the Ipod, says it is not authorized. Songs I've never listened to are now 5 stars, and the playcounts of some songs have suddenly gone into the 100s.

  • Latest version of iTunes screwed up everything!

I just downloaded the lastest upgrade to iTunes and it screwed everything up! My library (mixture of loaded CDs and purchased must) no longer shows in iTunes and everything (but a few songs) has been wiped from my iPod Touch 5. The path to the library in Preferences is correct, the music is in that path but nothing shows. I was able to reimport all of my music (4800+ songs) but now they won't sync to my iPod. How do I fix this mess?

I had the same problem yesterday, You would click on the Itunes icon and would get the hourglass and then nothing. I tried to reconfigure the firewall, Nothing. I unistalled Itunes, Quicktime, Nothing!
This is how I fixed it:
Under Norton Internet Security you have an option to remove Norton. I Did that and then went to the Website and re-installed Norton Internet Security. Everything works now. Try this and see if it works for you.
I have Norton 2005. My roomate has Norton 2006 and has no problems with the updates and Itunes.

  • After much trouble, I finally updated iTunes to 11.1.4 and now Outlook 2010 just shows it's not responding

I had a lot of trouble updating iTunes to 11.1.4 and had to uninstall it and all of its connected programs before I could finally reinstall it. It's working properly now, but Outlook will only partially open. It opens up, but it says "Not Responding" for a very long time and never functions.I can get to my e-mail through Hotmail on the 'net, but I prefer using Outlook and have other e-mail boxes there that I need it for.
I'm on PC running Windows 7. Does anyone know if the install of iTunes could have screwed Outlook up? It was closed when I did the install.
    Thanks for any help!

I finally found a solution that worked.
I installed the App "Group SMS" from the App Store. Then I created a new group. Then I added all my addresses manually one by one. And when I then synchronize - all my contacts appeared again in Outlook.

  • Itunes reorganized my music HELP

Recently my itunes decided to reorganize some of my music. The problem is that some of the bands that start with "the" as in "the expendables" and "the fugees" are now listed under T because of the "the". Whereas half of the work by the same bands are stll under E and F. Why is my itunes choosing to screw with me? I have OCD about this so I need to fix it. Thanks

    Welcome to AD!
Did you recently take a WIndows update or anything?
iTunes doesn't just reorganize things randomly, but if you have it set to manage your music folder and something gets changed on the song file, it will reorganize things.
WMP default settings have it getting info from the internet, so maybe something like that happened.

  • Why won't iTunes completely uninstall from my songs?

I installed iTunes and it screwed up my photoshop elements, the songs won't work in my slideshows.  I uninstalled it
but the icon stayed on all my music, so it still won't work.  Does anyone know how I can get the icon off and put the
winamp icon on? I tried to through making the winamp the default but it already is.  So somewhere my computer thinks
it still has iTunes controlling my music.  Any ideas??

    Hi dpjakob,
My interpretation of your question is that iTunes has lost its link to 100 of your songs. When tracks in iTunes display a it means the file cannot be located; it may have been moved or deleted. For this issue, we will need to refer to the following article:
iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1408
Alternatively, if your media was downloaded from the iTunes Store, you may be able to download it again free of charge:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
    Thanks,
