Argos vouchers for your old phone

Another alternative for your old phone which may appeal to some though it remains to be seen just how good or bad their offers are for recycing your phone. I think it will be more for the drawerful of old mobiles we have forgotten about rather than for the modern smartphone we want decent money for.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-33675472UK consumers can now trade in old mobile phones for an instant reward on the High Street in an initiative led by government-funded charity Wrap. The eco-friendly organisation has set up a scheme with catalogue retailer Argos for customers to swap old phones and tablets for store gift vouchers. The scheme will be extended to other items such as laptops if it goes well.IT industry analyst Chris Green told BBC News previous technology recycling schemes had succeeded."The challenge is getting more people to recycle more," he said."We know people have a large amount of redundant technology sitting in drawers and cupboards, and it is better to recycle it than for it to go into landfill.

Were you planning on including them as fixtures and fittings when you sell up?

You de-activate the software on the first machine. Then use the Installer DVD or downloaded installer file that you have archived for safe keeping on the second computer.

  • How to stop messages from going to your old phone when you get an Andriod

    Hey,
So this isn't a question since i have the answer i just figured this out today and saw no answers for my case so i'd figured i'd post a solution i found.
In my instance i got the a new phone, Android, and the iMessages were still going to my old iphone. I restored the phone and took out the sim but messages still wouldn't go to my phone.
Every thread says in order to fix you have to go to settings in the phone... BUT WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR PHONE ANYMORE!
    Here's your answer:
Go to apple.com and sign into your ID account on your computer. Go to the phone number settings. Delete your phone number. Save. And then for extra security change your password. Then turn your new phone off and back on and ask a friend who as an iPhone that hasn't been able to contact you to text to you see if it worked. It worked for me and i hope this works for you because this sh*t was frustrating.
    Thanks,

    Go the the above
Sign in. Go to the left side where it says phone numbers. Delete your number. Then save.
Your iPhone friends will now get the red exclamation point that the message didn't deliver instead of it sending. Then your iPhone friend will force the message to go through as a text by long pressing the message and choosing send as text. Once tthey do that once you're set and all other messages will automatically send as texts for them to you. You just have to hope your iPhone friends realize to force the messages through as texts the first time around  but even if they don't at least they know they aren't reaching you and you aren't ignoring them.
    Does that help?

  • I need to ask for an extension for when old phone is to be returned

I took the new phone out to Verizon to help me transfer numbers etc. I was there for over 2 1/2 hours just trying to access and set up the phone.
I have come to realize that a number of contacts did not transfer and I have to go thru the old phone contacts and resubmitt.  I was told that
phone is to be returned within 4 days.  I am asking for an extension because there are issues with the new phone.  The "speaker" does not work
on retrieving messages. So I will need to return to Verizon and see what needs to be done. Thank you, Valerie Esler

Well, not only are you NOT addressing Verizon here, but there is no one from Apple here as well. Thus, no one here can help you.
    You need to call Verizon.
I've asked our hosts to edit out your phone number. By posting it on a forum with over 10million users, you just might have to change it .

  • When you release a new phone you need to make sure than any updates you make for the old phones make them BETTER - Some of us are not eligible for the upgrades and until we are our old phones need to work just as good as they WERE working!!!!

Very dissapointed in the upgrades for the old phones

They can't support every phone forever. Eventually, the software gets to a point where it can no longer be handled by old hardware(iPhone, iPhone 3G), and support for those devices must be dropped. It's the exact same way everything else in the world is handled, from TV's to computers.

  • How can you tell if your old phone had icloud

My old phone got water damage and I'm about to restore a new iphone and I'm not sure if i should restore with my itunes or my icloud but also, I'm not really sure if i had icloud so i was wondering if anyone knows a way to find that out?

This should help you out -> iCloud: Backup and restore overview
Just check the date of the latest backup before choosing where to restore from. You can see the date of the latest iCloud backup from Settings on the iPhone, like the article shows, and you can see the iTunes backup in Preferences > Devices.

  • Can I just do an in-store trade for my old phone?

I still haven't received my shipping materials to trade in my old iPhone (submitted Sept. 28th). I have not had luck reaching the Verizon number. I've heard that people have just walked into Verizon stores and traded their phones successfully for store credit.

        bluebird123,
Making sure that you have all the material you need to process this trade in is definitely a priority. We do apologize that you have not received the information yet but we will supply the information you need to get this information. If you are not able to reach them by phone, you can reach them by email by following the link here http://vz.to/1pJQcUb Under the "How do I contact you" section it allows you to fill out a request and it will then go directly to the trade in department. I certainly hope this helps with getting this to you as soon as possible.

  • Is it necessary to use a flip cover for your Xperia phone?

I was not using any cover but i use a screen guard/protector for my Xperia E1 phone but now i have found out that the screen has got two tiny lines but I don't know whether those marks are on the screen guard or on the screen itself. Has anyone noticed such thing on their phone.
I don't understand what is the exact use of a flip cover. Is it really necessary? Plz comment.
    Thanks in advance.

A flip cover is kind of an extra protection for both the front and the back of the device. On my Z1,I only have a screen protector right now,but I do have a flip case just in case. Those scratches might be only on the screen protector, but to be sure, you can take it off and place another.

  • How does an account holder return their old phone when they edged up through the Verizon Edge Program? I have wasted way too much of my time trying to do this and am certainly disgusted with Verizon's communication and website for this.

I have been searching this helpless website for 3 nights after work trying to figure out how to get my old phone back to "WHEREVER" it needs to go. I am soo frustrated, I'm ready to throw this phone away and forget it. I've read through posts and tried the links left to only be taken where I've already been, with NO LUCK AT ALL. I've even called verizon myself to get, yet again, NO HELP!! Can anyone give me the real answer as to what to do.???
I've got the box I received my new phone in, with the plastic bag for the old phone and some papers the clearly read, "Keep this for your records" nothing that says RETURN LABEL. Don't have an address, either!

This is the same response other community users have gotten, there is not option to print a label. This is also where li was told to go look for the receipt when I card
Verizon. THERE IS NOTHING THERE TO PRINT. I've tried to include a link to that page, so you can view yourself,  but I'm thinking it won't post in this community discussion.
So, with this, I'm still stuck in the same situation... HOW DO I RETURN THIS PHONE? WHY CANT VERIZON EMAIL ME A LABEL DIRECTLY???

Traded in my iPhone for a different brand of phone. I had no idea that I had to sign out of iMessage before doing this. Now, my old phone is gone and my new phone cannot receive texts from people who have iphones and had me as a contact before. They try to send an iMessage and I have no way to receive an iMessgae now. On some server somwhere my AppleID still tells people they should send me iMessages. What is the solution to this issue? Deleting my AppleID would work to solve this issue, but I cannot ever delete the ID? What can Apple do for this?

If you did not erase your apps and data before getting rid of your old phone, try using Find My Phone and erasing everything remotely. See if this works.

  • Backed up my old phone to my computer.  trying to sync new phone and retrieve old info.  It is asking for a password.  I never gave it one.  How do I get to my stuff????

backed up my old i-phone 3 to my computer.  tried to sync new i-phone 4S to computer to restore info.  It is asking for a password.  I never assigned one.  How do I get to my info????

iTunes will recognize your new phone as a different device from your old phone.  Do you have any information on your new phone that you want to save?  Restoring to the backup of your old phone will overwrite your data and settings with those of your old phone.  If you want to save any data on your new phone, you'll need to do this first.  After doing so, connect it to iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left side and select Restore from Backup, when prompted, selecte the backup of your old phone to restore from.
