Arial Black Font won't display

My website uses Arial Black on all of its menus. Firefox 4.0 converts this to Arial. It works fine with earlier versions of Firefox, IE and Chrome.

Not even a workaround to be honest - makes arial black extra bold (horrible looking) on all other browsers. Need to pinpoint FF4+ through jscript or php and apply css for FF only. Why they have done this is beyond me. Pain in the ass

  • Din font won't display in pdf file since December update to version 11.0.10

I upgraded my Acrobat to version 11.0.10 just before the Christmas break. Din font is my corporate typeface and I used it yesterday to create an invoice in Mac Pages only to discover that I cannot view the pdf as the font won't display in Acrobat. And to add to the problem my clients who are using the same version of Acrobat are unable to view the font either on the pdf. It all worked fine before the upgrade.
What can be done to rectify the problem? I need to fix this asap.
This error message appears when I try and open the file "Cannot extract the embedded font 'DQPJNL+DIN-Medium'. S"
The DQPJNL bit changes depending on the file being opened but essential Din font won't display.

    Hi,
Please check if DIN font is embedded in your PDF by going to File > Properties > Fonts
If no, then you might need to go to 'Tools > Print Production > Preflight'
Then, open the PDF fixups section, click on Embed fonts fixup and choose 'Analyze and fix button'.
Please check and let me know if you are able to view the font now.

  • Arial Black font problems in InDesign CS2

    Hi there,
I'm having a bit of a problem with the Arial Black font in InDesign CS2.  I recently got a new computer running Windows XP. The computer has had  MS Service Pack 3 installed. When I installed my old fonts onto the new  computer and booted up InDesign, I noticed there was no Arial Black font, only Arial Black Italic. When I looked under the Arial group of fonts a Black version of the font was there, but on my old machine Arial Black is a separate font group. I've tried deleting the font cache and adding the fonts to the InDesign fonts folder as well, but it still doesn't register as a separate font family. I've also tried installing an older version of Arial Black (2.35 from 2004) and emptying the font cache but still no joy. The  problem is I work on a newspaper and this font is quite common, and is  used on our templates, so when I receive a page I need to change the  font, which isn't ideal. Interestingly, the file name of the font is  ariblk.ttf, but when you look at the icon it appears to be OpenType. The  Arial Black Italic font is called ARBLI__.TTF and has a TrueType icon, and this appears as a separate font family in InDesign. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

I'd give it a go anyway. And please keep in mind that CS2 is the earliest version eligible for upgrade pricing.
At some point, if the current policy holds, you'll be out of the upgrade loop and will have to pay full price.

  • Arial Black Font

Our draftsmen when entering a measurement as a degree use the arial black font in autocad. When sending files to customers, etc, we create pdf documents. We have just started having a problem where Adobe Reader 8 and 9 says it cannot load the arial black front. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the font in windows. I have also reverted to the XP service pack 2 version of the font. None of this has helped. As a work around, we are using Nuance Pdf Reader until I can find a solution. It works perfectly with Nuance. Any other suggestions? I have searched the forums here and done google searches on this with no valid solutions.

Are you sure you are embedding th
e font when producing the PDF?

  • Fonts won't display in CS3-- particularly Photoshop & Illustrator

    Hello Everyone,
Thank you for any help you may be able to provide for this question.  Recently my laptop with my installed softwares crashed.  Luckily I was able to recover most everything and restored it on my newer iMac.
One of the few software that didn't play nice was CS3, so I had to re-install it.  Now, many of the fonts won't show up.  I'm doing a logo for a client and I need some fonts but fonts from the following- New Peninim, Corsiva Hebrew, Ariel Hebrew and/or Raanana-- don't appear after you engage the Type tool.  What shows up in both Photoshop and especially Illustrator is a square box with nothing in it.
I've gone to MANY of the help columns on line and followed 4 or 5 different "solutions"-- nothing seems to work.  I even, against my suspicions, called the Adobe customer service and the best they could offer was to post a question here if my answer was not apparent.
So, does anyone have an opinion on the matter?  Bearing in mind that I've put fonts in the Adobe folder, reset characters and a few other things since yesterday.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Andre

If you have the fonts installed and activated and they are not functioning, you may need to clear your font caches.
Are you using any font management software?  Can you confirm that the fonts are active?  If you're not aware of any font management, open up Font Book (applications -> Font Book) and see if you see the fonts in there.  If they are in the list, are they active?  If they are not in the list, you need to add them there (I think just by dragging them from the finder) and activate them.  Not being a Font Book user I'm not sure, but you may need to restart Illustrator to see the newly activated fonts.
If you don't have the fonts active, your type will be displayed in the default font (Myriad, unless you changed it) which likely doesn't have the hebrew characters, thus all you see is the squares indicating missing characters.

  • Unusual problem using Arial Black font with #'s

We have encountered a rather unusual problem.
Recently one of our customers contacted us about a problem with their job. They used #'s in arial black and regular throughout their document. Everywhere the #'s were in Arial Black they came out looking like an entirely different font. All of the files that we have created from their document appear correctly. Even the proofs created from the files printed correctly. However at the point of Esko's Nexus program creating the tiff file to make the press plates we are getting the incorrect results. I have even created a new document using our fonts in multiple sizes and I am getting the same results. As you can see the rest of the text in the same font is imaging properly. It is only the #'s that are the problem.
This is a screen capture of the PDF I created:
This is a screen capture of the results from the plate tiff image:
I am positive that it is not an issue with Esko's Nexus software as I have recreated this text in Quark, Miccrosoft Word, and Microsoft Publisher and they all imaged properly.
I am only encountering this with Adobe software. I am getting the same results from both InDesign and Illustrator. I have run the file from multiple Macs with various OS systems and from a PC each with their own font sets. I have even run the file from all versions of InDesign that we own (CC2014, CC, CS6, CS5.5) and they ALL give me incorrect results. As you can see from the images above it is ONLY the # character in Arial Black that is a problem.
I'm at a loss as to how to solve this problem.

  • Arial Black font in Cap 6 or later

Is Arial Black accessible in Cap 6 or later. I have it on my Win 8.1 machine and can use it in Word and other programs but when adding a text caption in Cap 6 cannot select it.
I have Arial, Arial Rounded, and Arial Unicode.
    Thanks, Janet

I've been struggling with this for over an hour. A colleague stopped in and said to pick Arial, then in the Style field below Black becomes available. So, I guess the Font is Arial, style is Black, not font Arial Black.
    Phew!

  • Font won't display -- strange behaviour

    Hi all,
I have a keynote presentation that I prepared last year, and it worked fine. I went to open it today, and the font does not render properly -- all the letters are compacted together and not legible. If I change the font size, I can read it again (going from size 36 to 18), but if I enlarge the text again, the same thing happens.
I emailed the keynote file to another mac in the house, and it opens just fine on that one. I tried restarting, and same thing. Since I need this presentation for tomorrow, I just went through and changed the font to a different one, and that works just fine.
When I open a different keynote file, that one displays correctly.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Boris

I see the same problem. Arial and New Times Roman are affected. The rest work fine. They behave as though the widths are fixed. Resizing the same fonts in Mail work fine, but found the same problem in Pages. Font Book validated these fonts. Also, in the Inspector, Text Spacing has no effect. I don't have an answer yet but I have a question. Did your other Mac on which it worked properly, have an earlier version of either iWork or OS X and are you having trouble with Arial and New Times Roman also or a different font?

  • Font won't display or print following upgrade to Reader 9

Since "upgrading" the other day to Reader 9, Monotype Corsiva will no longer display or print on my .pdf documents.  I had no problems with the font displaying or printing prior to then.  I tried copying the font and pasting it in the Fonts folder, but that didn't help.  Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

Adobe Reader 9 and i havent used Monotype Corsiva before,
but for my projekt it is simply vital ;/
Looking forward for any help solving the problem

Did you buy the Applecare extended warranty? If not then you will need to pay for whatever repairs need to be done.
You will need to take the system to an Apple store Genius Bar for a check up.

  • Font won't display once installed in MS Apps

I activated Baghdad and Al Bayan fonts in the Font Book for both my account and the computer. However, the font's don't show up in Office Applications like Word and Excel, how do I activate them in these apps?

Are they in ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts? If not put them there. Then relaunch your MS apps.

  • Firefox 4 no longer displays "Arial Black" as a font-family in CSS.

Example line in CSS: font-family: "Arial Black",Gadget,sans-serif; after upgrading to FF4 no longer displays as Arial Black now it displays as Arial.

You need to add font-weight:900 to make Firefox use Arial Black

  • Arial Black, Rockwell Bold, Cooper Black fonts don't render.

This has been a problem since FF4 and has been unresolved. Please fix. Note: when hardware acceleration is turned off (or more specifically gfx.direct2d.disabled is set to true) those fonts render. This is only a problem on Win7 (32 and 64 bit)

You need to add specific font attributes to make Firefox use such fonts. Firefox places all fonts that belong to a specific family in one group on Windows 7+ and you need to use a selector like "font-weight:900;" to select Arial Black from the Arial group. Otherwise Arial is used.
You will have to find out which selectors to use for Rockwell Bold and Cooper Black to make Firefxo use them on Window 7.

  • Arial Black does not dispaly in FireFox???

I have specified Arial Black in a CSS class. It displays in Chrome and IE but not in Firefox.
Any reason for this? Is there a an extra bold font that I can use instead that FF will recognize?
    Thanks.

On Windows you may need to add font-weight:900 to make Firefox use the "Arial Black" font.
