Arial Font Changed to a different font

Hi, i have a huge problem with the arial font in my macbook pro. It shows something like this in font book about the Arial font:
if you see the background behind font book, you can see that even the font in goole chrome changed. I've tried to reset my macbook pro but nothing is happening.
It also appears as linkin.ttf when i tell it to "show in folder" Thanks for helping. I really don't know what to do right now.

To fix the issue, I would remove the font from Font Book and make sure completely remove it from your Mac. Once that is done, then I would reinstall OS X Mavericks. As part of the installation of OS X, Arial will be reinstalled and it will be the correct font that you need.

Thanks for answering. The version is XI.0.10. I just did the update yesterday hoping that I could now properly edit a scanned pdf document. Yes, it's happening on most all scanned documents. I followed your steps & found the list of fonts used in the document & then attempted to edit. The same occurs. When I type in a correction, I get an error alert... "the original font (in this case Fd 5805) is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font Minion Pro in its place."
When I select the text & right click as you suggested, my only choices are cut, copy, delete or select all, no "edit text".
I have no other options to choose another font. Thanks for any help you can direct my way.

This issue occurs with most of the PDFs that I open up. I am using the latest version of adobe reader on my windows based machine and it is a general PDF. I saw a similar post online stating that if you look at the fonts used in the document and it doesn't say (Embedded) next to it, then Adobe Reader will try to pull the font(s) from your computer and if it doesn't find that font then it will replace it which makes it look funny.

I created a PDF from a Word document that used Cambria font, and when I select it in Acrobat to try to change the font I get "The change to a different font was not done because the chosen font and the font encodings in the document differ and could not be resolved"
How can I change the font and why is it preventing me from doing so?

No, Acrobat is not a word processor.
More to the point Acrobat lets one "work" PDF and PDF is not a file format designed as a word processing, editing, formating, or page layout file format.
PDF is, essentially, a "final destination" format.
What it is is described in the ISO Standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1).

When composing an email and I end a sentence with any sentence ending character like . ! ? etc. and then start a new sentence on the same line with a space or 2 after the . ! ? etc. ( no carriage return ) the font changes to a smaller font than the one I have set. My set font is Helvetica, Arial . This happens almost all the time, if I backspace to the end of the sentence, and then put in the . ! ? etc. and start the new sentence, sometimes it works ok and the font does not change.

Font in SWF file different once inserted and previewed in Captivate 5

I have inserted a SWF File as an animation into my captivate 5 movie. When I view the SWF file independently, thus, outside of Captivate, the font looks exactly as it should: in Arial. However, once I have inserted the SWF file into Captivate and preview the Animation, the font changes to something which looks like Times New Roman.
A colleague tested the file on her computer also and experienced the same issue.
Does anyone have an idea what could solve this? Does a setting need to be changed in Flash or in Captivate?

OK. Changing to a different font to test is a good strategy. Stick with a standard Windows font, e.g. Verdana.
There have been some issues with fonts getting corrupted that were reported several months ago when Cp5 first came out. Caused some wierd behaviour including preventing Cp from opening at all: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3441458#3441458
Hope yours turns out to be something much simpler.

Use Paragraph formats and
Character formats for ur requirement.
While writing the code give ur format as Paragraprh and where ever u want to change specify character formats.

Is it possible to create different font styles within the same text field?

The form I am creating is getting really complex because when different fields require different font treatments (bold, italic, different font size, different font) I have to create a seperate text box and get it to align with the others. This wouldn't be an issue in most cases but this form is really detailed and has many text boxes. Before I stuggle too much longer on it, I thought I would check and see if there is a way to make them all in the same text field. If not, perhaps I am trying to use Acrobat for something it is not meant for. Any recommendations on other programs I could use? Thanks

Thank you try76. I'm not sure if I did it correctly. As soon as I tick the Rich Text Formatting box it automatically changes the appearance of the text in the field (Helvetica Light to something like Helvetica Heavy) I can't seem to get the font back to Helvetica light or change the font size while the Rich Text Formatting box is ticked.

Font changed across multiple browsers?

Recently the standard font in my Chrome browser changed to a funky font. I have searched my Font Book for this font to remove it and I cannot find it.
I tried switching the fonts in Chrome Preferences to no effect.
The font changes to this odd font in many text boxes (as in the one I'm typing in right now) but I see a standard Arial/Calibri in the "Question header" text box above this form... so strange.
This went on for weeks until today when I opened my computer and Firefox updated itself. When it restarted, this ridiculous font is now in my text boxes in Firefox as well! I just checked Safari and yes, this blasted font is in Safari as well.
I felt like it had to be a program that I've installed, but looking in my Applications folder, I just don't see anything that looks like it would produce an over-lapping setting for my text boxes...
Does anyone have any suggestions?

After the 6.0 update, my font for my xfinity email and on other websites changed to a random font, how do i change it back or set the default font to one that i can read?

after the automatic download happened, the font changed to some script font i have. i removed that font, then it defaulted to another not so good looking font, and it has done that each time i disable the font. why is it doing this, but more importantly, how do i fix it so it is a basic font like arial?

Message font changing problem

hi, recently upgraded to leopard 10.5.5, currently ichat 4.0.5. originally had my ichat message fonts particular styles of different fonts (eg, a "light condensed" style for the other guy, an "extra light" style for me). ichat is not registering the chosen style for any fonts i choose, not bold, not italic, not light, condensed, expanded, nothing. how do i fix this?

I know someone who is having the same problem, but only with certain fonts (Humanist is one of them). Although he selects Humanist as his font for outgoing messages, it shows up in the chat window -- on his system and on others' -- as the default font. I understand why it would show up as the default font on systems that did not have this particular font installed, but I do have it installed and it still shows up as the default font to me.
This seems to be a fairly large bug in iChat. Has anyone else experienced this?

PS CS6 - text and font changes by clicking on it - not reversible

Sometimes I open a file with layers in PS and click on a text layer, to move or change it,
and immediately the text and font changes into another text/font from the document.
Can not save the file then the problem stays forever. I can´t touch/change any text layer
without this problem. Happens on every ca. 10th - 20th file I open...
Please help me, how can this be fixed?

There was a bug in 13.0.0 that could corrupt text layers that way.
It was fixed in 13.0.1, but documents saved with 13.0.0 could already be corrupted and there is no way to fix them automatically.

IOS 7 How to change Mail signature to different font/etc?

At one point in time, I had a custom email signature in iOS which featured a different font, size and color - no images or HTML. I had added this by sending the text to be used in an email and simply went into the settings in iOS/Mail and pasted it into the signature field. This worked. It absolutely did. In all new emails, I had this really nice looking Helvetica Neue looking signature.
At some point, I went in to edit this nice signature a bit and lost this capability completely. I've just wasted an entire afternoon attempting to do the same and research how/why this is no longer working - to no avail.
Anyone out there have any experience with this?

All you do is paste in your rich content and then shake to undo the formatting changes and it magically looks the way you intended.

Illustrator's font is different for some reason and hard to read, I need to change it so i can read all the tabs and file names. Like file, edit, options, type, select, effects..... swatches, layers.. every tab is in a different font that is hard to read

I need to know how to change it so I can get back to a steady workflow.

File, edit, options, type, select, effects, view, windows, help..... pathfinder, layers, swatches, stroke, and the file name (all the tabs)
are all in a different font, I don't know how it got changed but now it is different.
This is a shared computer so someone might have changes it on accident but I'm not sure.
