Ariel Narrow Fonts

How can I get Photoshop Elements 10 in Windows 8 to recognize the Ariel narrow font used in creating a photoshop file in Windows 7?

I occurred to me to simply go to another computer and copy the missing fonts from Windows 7 and copy them into the windows/font directory in Windows 8. Worked like a charm.

CS6 - Arial Narrow fonts do not show up

I installed CS6 on a brand new computer with Win 7 Pro 64 bit. The arial narrow font will not show up in the pull down menu for fonts. This seems to be a common problem as there are a lot of results when searched online. I tried several of the solutions, but none have worked. Some people have said it is a Microsoft Office thing. I found a hotfix for Office 2007, but I am using Office 2010 so the hotfix does not apply. Has anybody ever figured this out? Please help.

Arial Narrow Font not embedded PDF when generated on server

I'm struggling with some font issues. My report contains only Arial or Arial Narrow subset font. These fonts are installed on all client and server machines. When I render the report locally and export it to pdf then everything works fine, the report looks
ok and when checking the pdf properties the Arial narrow font has been embedded. After deploying it to a SSRS server 2008 R2 and render it from this server the export to pdf converts the Arial Narrow font to Helvetica messing up my report.
Any ideas how to maintain the Arial Narrow font?
As far as I can tell every condition as described in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159713(SQL.100).aspx are met.

According to your description that you have problem with the font in the PDF, The font type is correct when you export report to PDF in the Preview but font changed from Arial Narrow to Helvetica when export to PDF in the Report Server, right?
This problem is related to the font-embedding of PDF. The font Arial Narrow haven’t embedded successfully to the PDF. Please check in the client machine which the report server and report manger located to make sure the Arial Narrow font have been installed
correctly by enter the Control Panel and select the “Font”.
For the client machine, closing all instances of the PDF viewer then reopening them should fix the issue. If the issue still persists, you may need a full machine reboot to get the client/server to recognize the newly installed font, you can also try an
reinstall of the font Arial Narrow.

Illustrator CS2 Suddenly not Recognizing Arial Narrow Fonts

I created a graphic earlier today that used Arial Narrow Bold Italic. Later on today I had to update the graphic with new information and now it is telling me I don't have the font installed. The Arial Narrow fonts are in the fonts folder and are recognized by all other CS apps, Office apps, etc. I have replaced the fonts countless times since getting this message, restarted my computer, all to no avail. I eventually had to go to another computer to do the update. I even tried copying the fonts from that computer to mine and I still get the same error in Illustrator.
I don't know what the heck happened. I didn't install any new fonts between the time I made the graphic and the time I tried to update it. Do I need to re-install Illustrator? I need to know ASAP, as I will be updating this graphic tomorrow and of course would still like to use Arial Narrow in Illustrator.

I had the same problem when I upgraded to CS3. Haven't explored the reasoning behind it but did try resetting (deleting) several PREF files, reinstalling the font, but nothing changed. I did find the following: Select ARIAL font and under FONT STYLE select the NARROW option. This will be give you the equivalent of NARROW REGULAR but there are no direct style options for italic, bold, or bold italic. Since I don't use the font that much, my only work around was to apply a stroke of .15-.25pt to the text for bold and a 20° shear for italic.
If anybody's got a answer to why ARIAL NARROW got wrapped as a font style of ARIAL and not just a font, such ARIAL BLACK, etc., it would be greatly appreciated.

Problems with reader an arial narrow font

like the title of the thread says , y have a problem opening some pdfs , not with all , the problem is an error message telling me that the arial narrow font is not available and the pdf is filled with dots instead of characters . I´ve tried to change fonts folder in windows but it didnt result , so i dont know what to do , i´ve also tried use the option of use local fonts only but it doesn´t works.

I believe the .lst font files only exist on mac, and the PC .lst file are some MS office format.
Have not used amp font viewer as I have suitcase on my Win machine, but try closing all unnecesary fonts, especially arial narrow. I do remember an ID conflict with one of the olders versions of Helvetica Neu with arial.
Did this used to work before and is something that started up recently, you may want to look into what new installs you had, search through and kill your processes one by one, or do a system restore.
Finally I would look at your copy of arial bold, and disbale that and install and opentype version. The newer opentype version will probably use one fo the newer FOND IDs adn you will have access to more characters and be crossplatfrom. If you cannot disbale arial bold, then it is the version that is one of the sytem core fonts, and you can try repairing your windows install which may replace that.

In your smart style, you can use the font size . This specifies the height of a character or string. This will be reflected if you activated the smartstyle.
and this is the most effective way to set the font size/ height in the smartform.

Fonts in Reports 9i for RH Linux

I deployed my forms/reports application on 9iAS for linux. I have generally used Ariel font in all of my reports.
Those reports which have bold font of Ariel print the text a bit larger and therefore my text is not printed fully.
Reports having Ariel Narrow font totally print a new different font. This may be due to absence of Ariel Narrow font in RH 7.3 Linux. How I can add this font?
Kindly advise me the solution.

For going multi-platform it is easiest to stick to the logical fonts: Fonts named "Serif", "SansSerif", "Monospaced", "Dialog", and "DialogInput".
These fonts are guaranteed to exist on any platform, although their implementations may be different. If you use others then you'll have to figure out how to deal with cross platform issues.

Missing Font Helvetica-Narrow

I keep getting an error when opening Pages documents telling me that I'm missing the font Helvetica-Narrow. I don't remember ever intentionally using that font, but it really doesn't matter to me what font this document is in. It's just annoying to keep getting this error (I have a lot of similar documents with the same problem).
I just tried using Pacifist to reinstall fonts from my Snow Leopard disk, but that didn't help. I couldn't find that font on my disk, so I just reinstalled all the fonts I could find, including regular Helvetica. I thought that Helvetica-Narrow might be included with the regular Helvetica, but I guess it wasn't. Where can I find this elusive Helvetica-Narrow font?

The documents are not translated from Word. I created them in Pages. I'm a teacher and the documents are my lesson plans. There's one for each week in table form. Each week as I write new lesson plans, I copy stuff from last year's plans. This problem started last school year. It's frustrating because I keep copying the problem to my new documents. I've tried changing the fonts and I still get the errors.
Is there a way to change the fonts on an entire folder full of documents all at the same time? I've never really used Automator. Is this a good time to learn?

Arial Narrow and Arial Narrow Bold Font issue

We currently have Adobe Creative Suite 5 and the issue I'm having is with InDesign. Here's a description of the problem:
We've been using InDesign on Windows XP for some time and have not had any issues using the Arial Narrow or Arial Narrow Bold fonts. However, we recently purchased a Windows 7 PC and installed CS5 on it. Whenever the user on this new PC opens up an InDesign document, that was created on Windows XP w/ the mentioned fonts, an error comes up stating that the listed fonts (Arial Narrow and Arial Narrow Bold) are not available on the system and that substitute fonts will used. So then I have the option to replace the missing fonts with other fonts, which I am able to replace with the Arial Narrow and Arial Narrow Bold fonts that are already in the Windows 7 font folder. So it's almost like InDesign see's the fronts from XP and Windows 7 as two different things. I checked the version numbers on both fonts and they are the same (2.40).
Does anybody have any ideas? I've googled the issue and Adobe actually says that this is a Microsoft problem and is related to Office 2007 installing the Arial fonts with extra properties, wherein a hotfix is provided by Microsoft to resolve the issue. I've applied this hotfix and it does not do anything. I've also copied the fonts from the Windows XP machine and replaced the Windows 7 fonts with this, as well as vice versa, but this also does not resolve the issue.

I found a solution for myself. Regenerate in ttf by defalt all 4 arial narrow fonts with Fontlab Studio without any changes to fonts info or structure. Then install them into system (Windows/Fonts). Clean old arial narrows files before. Then do search for adobefnt*.lst on system disk. Delete those files (only .lst not .db or any other). Great! Works perfectly in all adobe apps! Shows all names in arial family submenue.

Solution to Arial Narrow family problem 4 fonts

I finally found an old disc that I had copied my fonts folder in 1998. I deleted all Arial Narrow fonts, and copied the 4 old fonts dated 1998 Arial Narrow family to the fonts folder (having deleted the newer Arial Narrow fonts first). I never expected to need that disc - I was in the process of destroying all my old art files. Thankfully the fonts were still on one of them.
The problem apparently has to do with Office 2007 and the way it has replace the Arial Narrow font family, not Adobe.
PS I had tried the hotfix from Microsoft meantioned elsewhere, but it made no difference. Using the old fonts did make a difference.

I have the same problem and the fix won't work here either. Care to make these old fonts public?

Issue with fonts

I installed inDesign CS5.5 and now my documents from CS4 that contain Ariel Black fonts are not recognised. How do i get my Ariel Black font to apprear in the font drop down list in CS5.5? Please...

Probably not.
These files were created on this system in CS4? There was a problem with the Arial Narrow ( and maybe Arial Black) fonts Microsoft packaged with Office 2007 (and Vista, I think), for which there is a patch available from Microsoft, or you can find a machine with the old versions and copy those. Beyond that, I have no ideas.

Font issue in Custom Reports in oracle Apps R12.1.1

I am using Oracle Apps R12.1.1. Vision Instance.
i develop custom report (using 10g DS ) and i used Ariel a font and i deployed custom report.it works fine
The same report i opened in report builder and add a new parameter and used the same font Ariel and saved and then deployed but the concuurent report is showing all the columns in symbol(western) font not in arial font.
what could be the issue? the first report shows proper font.Please let me kno the fix

yes i have used template.fmb only , and am using FND_KEY_FLEX.DEFINE as i mentioned earlier ,
i have not given any where clause -- should we give any where clause to retrieve the data into the combinations(LOV)?It depends on what values you want to retrieve.
i mean my requirement is if i give % and press tab all the valid combinations should be displayed.
its showing no entries found.Did you review 420787.1 referenced above?
