ARIS and INTALIO

Hi all ,
I would like to have some comparison points on the tools- ARIS and INTALIO. It would be great if you could highlight some points.
Thanks,
kanan

Dear Kanan,
IDS, ARIS platform for process excellence, has expanded relationship with Intalio Inc., which provides the execution engine that enables process blueprints created using ARIS, and a new relationship with BPM.
The expanded relationship with Intalio will amount to the further integration of the ARIS modeling toolset with the Intalio/n3 Business Process Management System. The tighter coupling will bring better adherence to BPM standards like BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation) and BPEL (Business Process Execution Language), and help users better integrate process models.
Inatalio managed to port their legendary SAP connector and thier ARIS importer to Intalio|BPMS 5.0. The SAP connector can take any version of SAP, all the way back to SAP R/3 3.1i, and expose all BAPIs, IDOCs, RFCs, and ALEs as ready-to-use web services, for both inbound and outbound transactions, on the fly, without having to write a single line of code, ever. All 150,000 transactions offered by SAP R/3 or mySAP are available directly, as well as custom ones developed by customers.
Intalio made it much easier for ARIS Process Platform customers to connect together process models with the Intalio/n3 Designer, bind them to third-party systems and Web services, and then deploy them onto the Intalio/n3 server.

  • Problem with Aris and Solution Manager

    Hi,
I'm trying to synchronize Aris and SAP Solution Manager.
I'm doing installation and configuration following Administration Guide
chap. 7 from Aris for Netweaver guide, but, I have a problem when I
try to transfer projects from Aris to SolMan.
In the main ARIS menu from ARIS Business Architecture for SAP NetWeaver>
Aris Network>LOCAL>Synchronization>Maingroup, a SAPLogon screen appears
to logon to SolMan system, ask for Client, User and PWD.
I put the same user/pwd that I use to logon to SolMan, but ARIS cannot
connect to, an error message appears "User or password incorrect".
Does anyone have idea about this problem??
    Thanks

    Mariana,
try changing your password to all CAPS in Solman.

  • Comparison between ARIS and RBE Plus

    Hi,
Can anyone provide or can point me to some comparative study between the ARIS and RBE Plus with respect to their features and capability of business process re-engineering and integration with SAP Solution Manager.
    Regards
    Nilay

I absolutely agree that RBE Plus and ARIS are complimentary solutions.
Don’t mix up RBE (or RBE 2.0, SAP RBE) and RBE Plus. RBE doesn't really support 4.7 systems and higher and has no integration with SAP Solution Manager. RBE Plus supports SAP R/3 3.1i and higher and several other SAP systems like BW, SEM and CRM. RBE Plus uses the SAP standard interface to populate the reference model (BPR) from SAP within the SAP Solution Manager. RBE Plus doesn’t look only on the transaction usage for the evaluation of the Business Process Repository but even more important analyzes if and how the SAP tables are actually used. If a customer doesn’t use the SAP standard transaction VA01 for creating his sales orders but uses ZA01 instead the analysis of the sales documents still will activate the sales order process.

  • ESR modeling and Aris

    Hi,
In our origination we are using Aris for the modelling of business processes. From what I am lead to believe is that Aris integrates with SAP Solution Manager and Solution manager integrates with the SLD. So landscape, software products and software component information can thus be pulled into Aris for use in models. This will greatly assist in the business process modelling in Aris, I would imagine.
Now once the business process is modelled in Aris, is there a way of importing it, as say a Procomp Model in the ESR?
    Would you want to?
Or would you just continue to model in Aris and then pull in the interface logic into the models on the Aris side?
What is then the use of the modelling tool in the ESR?
Would you recommend that one should remodel the Aris Business Process Models in to the Modeling tool in ESR?
As you can see I am looking for some guidance in this regard.
    Many Thanks
    Willie Hugo

    Hi,
The use of Modeling in ESR point of view
is In a service-oriented architecture of business applications, you ideally initially model your application prior to implementation. This means that you can answer fundamental questions such as what components the application comprises of, which services the individual components offer, and how the various different components interact with each other before you begin implementation. A governance process ensures that by using models, all services are always identified and defined in the same way, thus avoiding redundancies.
The models are not system-landscape-specific. Later on, they provide useful information when implementing services, as well as during any configuration that may be required. Furthermore, the models document different aspects of a business process, increase understanding of applications across departments and businesses thereby reducing costs when applications need to be changed or enhanced in a later release.
SAP they integrated ARIS modeling tool to develop Models, but i dont think so its possible to import ARIS models in SAP NetWeaver PI.But whatever models we developing in PI is based ARIS modeling only.
SAP works with this environment to create models for applications in the SAP Business Suite. These models are shipped to customers. You can create your own models in the ES Repository.

    Hi,
As far as I know, currently there is no integration/synchronization between ARIS and the ESR. For example, I have to model our BOs according to the models in ARIS.

  • BPA and ARIS comparison!

    Hi,
I am not sure is it fair to compare the two since BPA suite is built on the Aris platform.
After looking at the features Oracle BPA suite is providing, I was wondering what does it provide that Aris doesn't? I have not seen the Aris tool yet, but from the discussions I have seen that it provides most of the functionality that Oracle BPA does.
Also the BPA suite is still not complete in the offering. Instead of using the Oracle BPA suite with Aris Simulator, why not use the Aris tools completely.
Or is it that the future enhancements in the BPA suite would be more helpful in the Oracle 'model'.
It would be very useful if someone could provide me the differences between Oracle suite and the ARIS products.
    Thanks,
    Sashwat

    Hello Sheila,
this is off course a very important question. To give you an idea how we proceed with these issue. We are using IDS ARIS for more than 12 years now in various projects. Additional we are a heavy Oracle user (advantage partner with CAB seat) for almost 15 years. Due to this combination we are using the tools of both vendors in parallel for a long time.
As you can imagine we were very happy about the decision form Oracle to move a little bit closer towards ARIS in the field of BPM. So we started an analysis to set up a “small” decision table how to proceed with existing ARIS stuff when it comes to the decision you are facing right now.
The main dimensions you have to keep in mind are:
    Methodology
The ARIS and BPA Suite methodology is about 98% the same. Form a first look at it this seams to be very close. Most of the time that is true for the relevant use cases. But when it come to specific things regarding BPMN, SAP and BPM related modelling there are some differences where it is worth taking a closer look.
BPMN: there are some differences between the IDS BPMN (not OMG compliant) and the ORACLE BPMN (for the time being also not OMG compliant but moving in the right direction).
SAP: almost every SAP related content has been moved from the methodology (no wonder :-) ). But if you are using something of this stuff a migration will cause some additional methodological work.
BPM: the BPM modelling within the BPA Suite requires a slightly different approach than the BPM approach followed by ARIS. This is not generally a problem, but when you have a lot of ARIS models there is some refractory work required as well. This is especially required because you have to separate the business content strictly from the IT (automation) content (see my other posts regarding this topic). If you don’t do this carefully you will have tremendous problems with the life cycle management of your models. The genuine IDS approach of modelling does not cover this!!! So take a closer look at your approach there!!!
    Technology
In this dimension you have to check the IDS products you are using (or planning to use in the future). For the time being there is no connection between an ARIS and an BPA repository possible. This might change in the future but you should at least take it in to consideration.
But I can give you a light “all clear” signal here:
If you are already using ARIS products not covered by the BPA Suite: do some closer analysis
If you aren’t using other ARIS products: don’t worry – most of the things can be addressed by better products with (partly) already existing interfaces – some of them by Oracle
There are a few minor things relevant but in general that are the major things you have to look at.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional help
    Dirk

  • Using ARIS process models as the foundation for Business Process Monitoring

    Hello,
Do anyone know if you can use IDS Scheer ARIS process models and the integration between IDS Scheer ARIS and SAP Solution Manager as the starting point for end-to-end Business Process Monitoring (BPM) so that you get the process description/model automatically in Solution Manager BPM and just need to configure the monitoring (more or less that you monitor against the modelled process in ARIS)?
Is there an API for SAP Solution Manager BPM so that non-SAP solutions/systems can be part of the end-to-end process monitoring?
If not, how do you usually integrate non-SAP solutions that are part of an end-to-end process that you want to monitor into SAP Solution Manager BPM, or do you not use Solution Manager BPM for this?
What is the roadmap for SAP around SAP Solution Manager BPM when it comes to non-SAP systems/applications/solutions and the new SAP NetWeaver BPM functionality?
    Regards,
    Markus Johansson

    Hello Markus,
I just paste my answer form the other forum entry Re: Business process management strategy in SAP?
in a nutshell BPM Netweaver is focussing on so called edge-processes (usually
SOA-based and often workflow related). These edge-processes a thought to enhance exisitng core business processes and should provide the fast competitive edge versus competitors. Examples would be also xApps. For this Netweaver provides process modelling tools, where you can get exectuable code through the integration between CE and PI. The monitoring part for these processes is mainly targeting business end-users and business manager.
Business Process Monitoring with Solution Manager focusses on core business processes which are realized with the "conventional", "old" SAP Architecture, e.g. Order-to-Cash or Procure-to-Pay. You get a combination of technical monitors (average response times of transactions, background job runtimes, monitors for IDOC or qRFC processing) and application related monitors (you get more than 200 pre-configured application monitors out-of-the-box like number of overdue customer orders or outbound deliveries or number of deliveries with goods issue posted but no invoice). The target group here is the support organization of the customer, from Basis-Support over application support on IT side to process owner on business department side.
Overview presentations can be found under
    https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information -->
    "Business Process Monitoring - Part 1 & 2".
    Or look under https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-processmonitoring
In the end BPM Netweaver and BPMon SolMan are complementary for different purposes and different target groups.

  • Technical Architecture for ARIS

Hi, I'm new to ARIS and SAP, I'm looking for a document/white paper that describes the technical implementation of ARIS and Netweaver for BPM and solution manager integration.

    Hi YH Seo ,
Hope you already completed your task but still i want to answer your question..
In BPC installation guide they not mention steps for BI installation however if you dont have installed BI then you need to install BI. Please refer Installation Guide at https://service.sap.com/installnw70..
Once you installed BI system then you need to apply software component CPM Business Planning and Consolidation (CPMBPC) in your BI system and refer section Configuring the ABAP Server Component from installatin guide of BPC NW.
Does it BPC contains BI/BW (Maybe ApShell is cube sets and can be installed without BI/BW seperate installation)?
=> No BPC does not contain any cubes. Without BI installation you can use SAP BPC NW version.
    Hope it will help you.
    Thanks

  • Business Process Management Tool Evaluation ARIS or Systems Architect?

    Hi Group
I have joined this community yesterday, so I am pretty much new here.
I work as a Business Process Analyst for a semi govt company. I have been tasked for evaluating a tool for business process management.
    Current scenario is as under:
    1) We are using Microsoft visio as a mapping software
    2) BPMN standards for process modelling
    3) The design phase of our new ERP software will be starting soon.
    4) My company has got vision to become BPM company over the years, we are at very early stage of it.
    The questions I have are,
    1)  Is it worth getting ARIS or System Architect at this stage only for modelling. If now what are the justifications?
    2) Based on your experience what are the steps involved in evaluating such tools
    3) How hard is it to import those visio drawings into ARIS or System Architect
    Your response is much appreciated
    Thanks
    Hemal

    Hi,
My view (I work as an Enterprise Architect for a very large Resources Company).
Visio is a drawing tool. It produces nice diagrams and drawings which have no real connection with the process objects, or system objects they represent. typically an organisation ends up with 1,000's of these e diagrams which end up all having to be maintained (and usually are not) so quickly end up being largely out of date and useless.
Tools like ARIS and other BPM tools, are purpose built Modelling tools. The Process Models built, and each and every object they are composed of are stored in a single, searchable and reportable object oriented database. Each object (if the tool is implemented correctly) has exactly 1 original keyed by a Globally unique Identifier. Other occurrences or copies of that object can be created that are used in multiple places, in multiple processes. Hence maintenance should be easier. If a change is required to the object, change it in one place only, and its automatically also updated in all the other object copies or occurrences. try that with Visio.
Further, if the models are created using the required and correct notation (for example BPMN or BPEL, then they may be exported into or integrated into application or execution layers that support these notations. Usually this is a part automatic, and part manual process. Hence the BPM models are living representations (not 100% but at least some %) of the running code or processes in your systems.
Eventually the nirvana will be when this model to execution paradigm is 100% automated, for 100% of business processes, across any platform or system architecture required. A good dream eh!
The proviso is that all this is designed, built and governed correctly. Like most things, the idea can be good, but the execution bad.
There are several examples of BPM Modelling tools that are available as free downloads. Savvion, Tibco and Intallio are 3 that come to mind that do this. Perhaps try one or more?
ARIS has the advantage that it is more integrated with SAP than any of the others.
The other think that has influenced us toward ARIS is that SAP now use it internally (so I am told) to define and govern the services that end up in their products. the Process is called PIC (Process Integration Content).
There is a separate thread on it Do SAP Plan to Productise the PIC Internal Process for Customers & ISV's?.
    Hope this helps.

  • Forward and Reverse Engineering

    Hello,
Iu2019m very new to ABAP Objects and I want to know, if there any solution for Forward Engineering, which means you modeled some classes in an UML tool like ARIS and import the XMI-File in the SAP-System and its generating the classes automatically?
Well, I´m also interested in Reverse Engineering. Do you know a solution for an export of classes to an external UML tool (maybe via XMI)?
    Thanks for your answers.
Edited by: Neil Gardiner on Sep 24, 2010 9:47 AM

    Hi,
ABAP -> UML reverse engineering functionality is available starting with release 7.02 and 7.20.
You will find them in transaction SE80 in the context menu of classes, interfaces, programs and function-groups (Display -> UML Class Diagram). The UML class diagram cannot be manually modified but there are many options to configure it. There is no plan for supporting two-way-editing functionality in the future. Nevertheless you will be able to print the UML class diagram, export the UML class diagram in XMI format (without graphic) or as an bitmap and you will be able to generate an ABAPDoc like HTML document including UML class diagram bitmaps.
The XMI file can be imported in third party UML tools (e.g. StarUML and Altova UModel), to generate UML diagrams and to modify the classes and interfaces. Therefore, XMI download can be very useful in ABAP refactoring projects. Because of the ABAP Objects UML Class Diagram is designed for reverse engineering, there is currently no plan for an XMI upload functionality.
