ARIS from SAP Discovery v3

Hi,
We have the lastest version of SAP Discovery but there are no instrcutions on how to start and connect to ARIS server. Has anyone used ARIS with SAP discovery?

Do you know if customers who run a SAP Discovery system are entitled to any kind of dedicated support from SAP? For instance, via their regular support engagements such as Standard Support, Enterprise Support, Safeguarding or MaxAttention?

Client strategy for SAP Discovery system

There are no restrictions for creating custom clients on the Discovery System box.
It is highly recommended to backup your current server before customizing the box so you can return to the original state if needed.

SAP Discovery errr

I have received our new SAP Discovery system NW2004s. I am following the Quickstart guide. I am having an issue with starting the instance. There are 3 processes that should start sapcpe.exe, enserver.exe, msg_server.exe. The enserver.exe starts fine, the msg_server.exe starts and then stops, and sapcpe.exe get an error. We changed the system name from initial install to our statndards. Here is the sapstart.log:

If you lok at the "CreateProcess" statement, it de-references the hostname
iwdfvm2160 This is the original hostname of the Discovery server, however you stated that you changed the server's hostname.
Also the profile files have the original hostname appended as part of the filename. You will have to do some manual editing of the content of the profile files.
Furthermore, the ERP instance has several RFC connections defined using the original hostname (iwdfvm2160) that will need to adjust. Finally, on the Java stacks of the additional components (suc as XI) you will need to modify the hostname. You may also want to check the SLD for any references to "iwdfvm2160"
Technically it is possible to change the hostname of your Discovery server, but you are creating a lot of work for yourself. You may wish to work with an experienced Basis person to get all this done properly.

Availability of the SAP Discovery System for Enterprise SOA

Hello Everybody,
will the SAP Discovery System for Enterprise SOA only be avaliable as a appliance as I've read on NetWeaver04s on Discovery System? Will there be a normal installation like a IDES System?
Perhaps a good idea for a quick start would be a peinstalled Linux Based VMWare Image :-).

Hi Gregor,
among the reasons for shipping the Discovery System as an appliance are legal reasons. So as long as there are 3rd party components involved (from SAP perspective) you'd need to be an official distributor for them. Obviously this restriction applies to VMWare Images as well.
An IDES-like installation is facing the challenge of integrating multiple components (that normally have to be installed separately) and their configuration data during the set-up already. This can be done as the example of Rapid Installer shows. But it is certainly more work to accomplish it.
As always: Making a complex system easy to use/set-up requires extended efforts behind the scenes. So it is always necessary to find the trade-off between "time to market" and "plug-and-play". So currently the availability as appliance is a compromise of both.

SAP Discovery System Procurement

Does anyone have the contact information for the current & active HP representative responsible for the SAP Discovery systems?
The listed HP rep on the spec sheet is no longer responsible. The person he forwarded us to does not return calls. The front line HP sales representatives cannot find the current product listed. They assume since it was offered on a G5, which is now in end of life, the product is no long sold. Any leads would be helpful.

Sa password error on SAP Discovery Server install

Hi,
I received this message when I ran the SQL4SAP.vbs script on the SAP Discovery Server:
"The sa password must meet SQL Server password policy
requirements. For strong password guidelines, see Authentication Mode,
in SQL Server Books Online."
I had to cancel and the installation obviously failed. Does anyone have any ideas? After it is fixed, can I run the vbs script again?

if I am not mistaken looking at the support call "the problem is caused due to a change in the security policy of the DS windows.
Please remove the DS box from the corporate domain and reset both
settings:
1) Minimun length of passwords should be set to 0
2) Disable the complex passwords option In addition, please make sure the computer name is: iwdfvm2160.wdf.sap.corp"

Cannot Send Email from SAP Business One

Hi Experts
I have configured SAP Email Services from the Mailer Service and Customer can send emails all the while,
Now I have an Issue for One User,
Iam using the Same Machine, Same Database with Manager Login, I can send Email from SAP with Attachments
But When I use another Super user the system is not delivering the Email and it Goes to the Sent box (but not delivered)
Have anyone encountered the Issue before

If the email can be found in Sent box, it must be delivered already.
The problem could be on the email recipient side. It may go to the junk mail.

HTTPs connection from SAP WebAS

I have to establish a connection from SAP WebAS to an iSaSiLk server via HTTPS.
The iSaSiLk authentication is based on client certificates.
I've created a SSL client PSE, generated the Certificate Request, imported the certificate response and the chain of certificates associated with no errors. When testing the connection we're getting the following error message:

From the iSaSiLk everything seems to be OK, but on the SAP WebAS the error "none of the PSEs registered with hSsl can suffice the negotiated SSL cipher suite" is really unclear, since the cipher chosen by the iSaSiLk is one of the ciphers sent by SAP WebAS...

Use the Data source 0FI_AR_4 to Know the status (0FI_DOCSTAT) of payment to be done by customer.
OR
Enhance the 2LIS_13_VDITM with VBUP fields which will give the status of Billing.

I am BI 7.0 Platform with Support Patch 20.
I need the Log Report for the Data which i am uploading from SAP R/3.
I extract the DATA from R/3 into BI 7.0 DSO where I am mapping the GL Accounts with the FS Item. In the Transformation i have return a routine on the FS Item InfObject . I am checking the Gl code into Z table for the FS Item .
I capture the FS item from the Z table then update this FS item to Infobject FS item.
Now i need to stop the Data upload if i do not find the GL code in the Z table, and generate report for all GL code for which the FS item is not maintained in the Z table.
Please suggest.

Hi.
Add a field that you will use to identify if the GL account of the record was found in the Z table or not. Fx, create ZFOUND with length 1 and no text.
In your routine, when you do the lookup, populate ZFOUND with X when you found a match (sy-subrc = 0) and leave it blank if you don't find a match. Now create a report filtering on ZFOUND = <blank> and output the GL accounts. Those will be the ones not existing in the Z table, but coming in from your transactions.

Transfer files from SAP R/3(unix server) to windows

Hi TechGurus,
We have a requirement where in , we are extracting data from SAP table into a text file using OPEN DATASET in TEXT MODE.
Then using a third party tool (Connect-direct), we are transferring text files to windows server using unix script, in binary mode.
The problem is that that the data is being transferred in blocks,each time beginning transfer from a new line.That is, after say transferring 25KB data it transfers next 25KB data from a new line. What happens as a result is that records
after particular amount of data is broken and remaining data transfer begins from new line.
The file size is around 25 MB.There is no such problem while transferring file of size 10 KB.
We are uploading the data from text file on windows server into MSAccess.
And error occurs during this process.

Hi,
If you want to transfer file between different SAP servers then you can use the function module EPS_FTP_PUT. You need to have a RFC destination (with sufficient authorizations for the RFC user). The meaning of the importing parameters of the function module are quite obvious. Of course, SAP offers us more than this function module:
- EPS_FTP_GET
- EPS_FTP_MPUT
- EPS_FTP_MGET

Unable to import idoc into PI 7.0 system from SAP r/3 system

Hi Experts,
    I am getting an error while importing an Idoc structure from SAP r/3 system. The error says "unable to read Idoc segments". The Idoc has recently undergone changes. When We are looking at the struture of idoc through IDOCSYN table it is showing updated structure in SAP R/3 system but import to SAP XI is failing.
Can you suggest some way to tackle this kind of problem.
