  • What's new in Oracle BPA 11G

    Hello,
Is there some note/ doc/ whitepare etc for what are the new features in Oracle BPA 11G?
    regards
    Sanjiv

    Hi Sanjiv,
    * there is a small section ("New Features introduced in this release") within the release notes of BPA 11g: http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/bpa/Oracle_BPA_Suite_11gR1_ReleaseNotes.doc
    * you can find further details ("What's new...") in the BPA Help-Section after installation
    * finally have a look to the Delta-Paper of ARIS 7.1 from IDS Scheer: http://www.ids-scheer.com/set/6473/ARIS%20Platform%20702-71%20DP%20en.pdf. Concentrate on "Differences in the Web environment from version 7.1" -> ARIS Business Architect, ARIS SOA Architect
    I hope this helps,

  • BPA 11g - installation disks

    Hi,
does anybody knows difference between BPA installation files on Disk 1 and Disk 2 (cat number V22121-01, from Fusion Media Pack, version 11.1.1.3)? Is the Disk 2 used as an upgrade for original ARIS software or maybe previous versions of BPA?
    Thx,
    Regards,
    Jarek

    Thanks Ashish,
I checked the charsets and tried to update the database charset to match it with BPA suite documentation. However, could not update it as the documentaton charset was not super set of database charaset.
However, after restarting the computer and database the issue got resolved.
    Thanks again for your help,

  • BPA 11g R1 and jDev 11.1.1.2

    Hi all,
I am using jDev 11.1.1.2 and BPA Suite 11g R1.
Apparently, i am not able to import/update any blueprint model from the BPA Server because the versions do not match. I believe there is a patch for jDev 10g to be compatible with BPA 11g, but i could not find any patch/addon for jDev 11.1.1.2 and BPA 11g R1
Is there any solution or a workaround for this?

    Hi,
    I have the following problem.
In the latest Oracle BPA instalation zip file, i couldn't find neither
the pcbpel_bundle.zip nor the "BPA Extension for JDeveloper" folder. The name
of the installation file is "Oracle_BPA_Suite_11.1.1.3_OTN.zip"
Please, i'll be very appreciate if you have the right URL for download
the evaluation version or if you have the pcbpel_bundle.zip file, to do
    the connection.
    I installed the following versions:
    BPA 11G
    Jdev 11.1.1.2
    Thanks

  • Creating a logical data model in BPA 11g

    Hi,
Can we create a logical data model in BPA 11g? If we can do that can it be moved over to the BPM environment seamlessly. I was under the impression that during the modelling exercise a business analyst would develop process models and logical data models in BPA & the turn it over to IT developers who will pull these models in and develop the implementation. Is that how it works?
    Thanks.

You can create a logical datamodel in BPA suite. The sample applicaton has an example of that: the quote to cash datamodel. There are different types of datamodels that you can create (business objects, entities etc).
Examples of datamodels can be found in the sample: OBPA Release 11. quick start.
The datamodels can't be imported I think, the process models can. You can either import them into Oracle BPM Studio (as executable BPMN) or into Oracle SOA Suite (transforms it into BPEL) with JDeveloper.

    Lonneke

  • Where can I download the HTML version of the 11g documentation?

Could someone tell me where I can download the HTML version of the 11g documentation? The landing page for 11g Tuxedo docs states "View PDF or download a ZIP file containing documentation in PDF and HTML formats from the Download Documentation page", but the only two options available are to download the pdf files and the javadocs.
In this part of the world (Africa) we tend to suffer from limited bandwidth, and it is far more efficient to have the docs loaded on my laptop!
    Thanks & regards,
    Malcolm.

    Hi Malcom,
I've asked our tech writer to look into this and respond here.

  • Export BPA 11g (BPMN 2.0) Model into OBPM 11g

    Hi,
I am trying to export a BPMN 2.0 process from BPA 11g and import into OBPM 11g.
My understanding is, Share blueprint option in BPA and oracle tutor can not be used, as the model is of BPMN 2.0
Any suggestions/pointers will be highly appreciated.

    Hi:
It seems that for BPA 11g, at least in release 11g R1 the option for sharing blue print is just for BPMN 1.x. For 2.0 is not even available the menu option.
Let me try to make a couple of tests, trying to export it on an ARISAML format, and from there, to use another tool to convert it to BPMN.

  • BPA 11g with database 11gr2

    Hi,
We are looking at implementing BPA 11g, does anyone know if I can use database 11gR2 as the repository db?
The certification matrix ( [http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/bpa/BPA_CertificationMatrix_R11.xls|http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/bpa/BPA_CertificationMatrix_R11.xls] ) i found only states Oracle Olite or XE.
    Thanks,
    George

Yes, the same certification link mentions Oracle 11g database is supported as repository.
When you are using BPA and are not sharing any models with others, better go with olite or XE (called the local deployement)
Oracle DB11g or other databases are referred/connect to throiugh repository server (called remote deployment ).

  • Benefits of the 64bit Version of OBIEE 11g?

    Hello,
I am in the process of verifying if the 32bit or the 64 bit Version of OBIEE 11g would suit our needs. The platform we will install OBIEE would be windows.
As far as the certifications go the 32bit Version of OBIEE is certified on the 32bit Versions of windows, so if we want to run a *certified* combination on a 64bit OS the 64bit version would be the way to go. OUI however doesn't complain when installing the 32bit Version on a 64bit OS.
As far as the Windows Server versions go there is no 32bit Version available anymore for future releases (starting with server 2008 R2), so in the future the (certified) way to go would be 64bit. However, for the sake of argument let's assume we are staying on Server 2008 where a 32bit version is still available.
I've found a lot of blog posts on how great OBIEE 11g is, and if one has the chance one should go for the 64bit version. That's nice, but I am missing the +whys+ and certainly the +buts+. Also, the oracle documentation (Oracle® Fusion Middleware System Requirements and Specifications) tells me the requirements for both architectures, but most certainly not when to use the 64bit version, and when a 32bit installation still will suit my needs.
The main reason for me to go for a 64bit version would be if we would have a huge amount of concurrent user sessions where of course the 32bit version will be constrainted by the Memory Limit imposed by the 32bit architecture. I guess the types of reports etc. might also come into play when it boils down to memory.
As for now I've installed the 64bit and the 32bit Version (11.1.1.7) and the first thing I can observe is that weblogic consumes double the memory on the 64bit version even with no user session connected and nothing to do for OBIEE whatsoever. So for a small installation (say ~ 20 concurrent sessions) I am tempted not to go for the general advice from above to "use the 64bit version if you can" as it's highly oversized.
Are there any other drawbacks in using the 32bit Version of OBIEE 11g for small installations (besides the certification question, and the "one day you might have more users" reason)? And when would it be advisable to go for 64bit? I know a general "do X when you have Y sessions" is not possible as every sytem behaves different, so I understand that a general answer isn't possible. But personal experiences would be helpful
    thanks in advance,
    cheers
    Christian

I have recently used the iLife bundle to process footage on the 3rd birthday party of my friends' son (my first production). I used iMovie to edit the footage, added audio tracks from iTunes, dropped a few photos from iPhoto on the drop zones of iDVD, added a slideshow to the project as well. Boy, my friends were amazed when I played the DVD before them (they were not mac users).
With such limited effort one need to spend on it (time and money), the output iLife gives is, what Jobs likes to say in keynote, phenomenal.

  • Enterprise manager version with Oracle 11g

Which version of Enterprise Manager do I need to install with 64 bit Oracle 11g. What is the latest version? Where can I get this information. The latest version that I could find for download on Oracle website is 10.2.0.4, but the one that comes with 11g Enterprise edition says 11.1 (the one without the Grid control).

The latest grid control is 10.2.0.4 - note that you have to turn off instance status metric or you get too many files open - a bug that they are doing a patch for.
You are correct thou - 11g DB control is bundled with the db, but that is db control not grid control - a similar but unique product.

  • PDF Printing  APEX 3.2.1  (APACHE FOP) which OC4J version  for Oracle 11g?

I am using APEX 3.2.1 on Oracle 11.g (under windows XP)
I want to test PDF printing (in advanced turorial) with standard config ( APACHE FOP no Oracle BI publisher).
    When I look oracle doc : http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html)
prerequisites for installing WAR file (Installing and Configuring Apache FOP) imply downlad for Oracle Containers for J2EE (10.1.3.2) ,
    once there : http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/utilsoft.html)
the accessed page seems restricted to Oracle Application Server 10g Software Downloads.
    My question : is the last Version (10.1.3.5.0 : Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (OC4J) (build #090727, 91 MB) - J2EE 1.4 compatible with EJB 3.0 / JPA 1.0 support ) also VALID for Oracle 11g ?

I just installed a similar setup with the following software combination and it works.
    win32_11gR1_database.zip
    oc4j_extended_101350.zip
    jdk-1_5_0_22-windows-i586-p.exe

  • To_char in version 10g and 11g

I have a column (my_column) in a table (my_table) which holds the value as 2.8050000000000001598721155460225418210
When i perform the query as:
    select REPLACE(TO_CHAR(my_column, '999990.999'),'.',',') column_val from my_table;
i get the result as ###########.
I get this result in the front end application also.
But when i actually provide the value in the select statement i get correct value as:
    select REPLACE(TO_CHAR(2.8050000000000001598721155460225418210, '999990.999'),'.',',') column_val from my_table;
I get the result as 2,805.
The workaround for this issue is use trunc as below:
    select REPLACE(TO_CHAR(trunc(my_column,4), '999990.999'),'.',',') column_val from my_table;
This happens in Oracle 11g version only. But in 10g version it works fine even without the trunc.
    ANY IDEA WHY THIS HAPPENS.
    Regards and Thanks

I get this result in the front end application also.I suspect you only get the error in a front end; the same regardless of whetehr the front end is SQL*Plus or your application.
That's exactly what SQL*Plus does when you give a character format for a NUMBER column:
    COLUMN  deptno  FORMAT A10
    SELECT  deptno
    FROM    scott.dept;
        DEPTNO
##########but I don't know what would cause it when you are displaying a string.
As Brian said above, you can get the results you want directly from TO_CHAR. I think this is how you want to do it:
    SELECT  TO_CHAR ( my_column
                  , '999990.999'
              , 'NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS='',.'''
                   AS column_val
    FROM    my_table;
