Arp across wireless link

We have a client device connected to a BR1310 the bridge is wgb mode and auths to an AP1200 using leap, the client can not be accessed across the wireless link.
We can ping the client device from the bridge but not from any device across the wireless link. The address of the client appears in the arp table of any device that tries to ping, but there is no reply. The address and gateway are correct on the client.
Devices have been changed out and an address change was made, but this did not work.
Here are two points of interest regarding this issue. If arp caching is enabled the device will respond for a minute or two then stop responding again. If arp caching is then disabled the client will respond again for a minute or two.
We are running VTP, the radios and client are on vlan1 I do not know if this would make a difference.
Any thoughts regarding this would be appreciated.

Hello, The problem was with the IOS, I found a few versions that had these same issues.
The following information is what I forwarded to TAC.
1200-31 AP - 1310 BR
123-4.JA and 123-4.JA2 = yes
123-4.JAx and 123-7.JAx = no
123-7.JAx and 123-7.JAx = no
123-8.JEB1 and 123-8.JEA2 = yes
123-8.JEB1 and 124-3g.JA1 = yes
I tested the following versions of IOS in the following configuration. BR1310 conigured as WGB
connecting to either AP1200 or AP1231 authentication method LEAP.
The Bridge was serving only a single client connection. The result from versions that failed was
failure to pass traffic to or from the client connected to the 1310-WGB. If ARP cache is enabled on
WGB traffic will pass to and from the client for 20 to 45 seconds then fail. If ARP cache is then
disabled traffic will again pass to and from the the client for 20 to 45 seconds then fail.
The client can always be accessed from the directly connected WGB.
On the versions that worked the client is always accessible from all networks.
I have too much going on to explore the reason why some of these IOS versions did not work, but the latest release worked on both AP and Bridge. All is good.

  • TSeries LAN connection issues across fibre link

I have some LAN connection issues when getting dhcp or even assigning static  ip to T61 laptop.  Doesn't get dhcp ip settings dynamic and if given staitc, can't ping any system on network nor can systems ping it.  DHCP is at main site and this laptop is at remote site. Link between sites is fibre.  All other systems at remote site where is laptop get their DHCP settings as normal.  If I bring laptop from remote site to main site and plug in cable it gets DHCP normal but not at remote site, it doesnt get it, so i know the LAN adapter is good.  What is wrong?, what across WAN link it preventing it? seeing that all other systems at remote site get their settings well.  Thanks in advance.

  • Sending specific Vlan across wireless bridge

    Hello All,
I would like to know how I can send a specific VLAN across a wireless bridge.  Currently, we have a building across the street from our main office that's connected via a wireless bridge (no physical cabling).  One of the switches in building 1 has a port in VLAN 206 (10.20.6.0/24) which connects to the wireless bridge (10.20.6.3) on that building.  The wireless bridge in building 2 is 10.20.6.4 and connects to a router on the same subnet.  So both bridges, the switch in building 1, and the router in building 2 are all on the same subnet.  I need to send VLAN 60 across this wireless bridge so that the workstations in building 2 can go out to the Internet.  As a side note, VLAN 60 is unrouted and is it's own subnet which has it's own firewall and web filter.  My thought on this is that if I can get the wireless bridges to send VLAN 60 to building 2, then all I would need to do is add the workstations to that VLAN on the switch in that building and all should be well.  I'm just not sure what I need to configure on the bridges and how building 2 should be configured seeing that the 2nd bridge connects to a router instead of a switch.  Any tips, suggestions, and help would be great!
    Thanks,
    Terence

assume that i have two bridges Br-root , and Br-nonroot and i want to send traffic from multiple vlans across the wireless link, all you need to have is infrastructure-ssid on the native vlan. Then define the required subinterfaces on both radio and ethernet of root and non-root.
    Example: ( vlan 1 , 2 , and three )
    Root(config)#dot11 ssid test
                     #authentication open
                     #vlan 1
                     #infrastructure-ssid
                    #exit
    Root(config)#interface dot11radio 0
                     #ssid test
                     #station-role root bridge
                     #no shut
                    #exit
    Root(config)#interface dot11rdio0.1
                     #encapsulation dot1q 1 native
                    #bridge-group 1
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface dot11rdio0.2
                     #encapsulation dot1q 2
                    #bridge-group 2
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface dot11rdio0.3
                     #encapsulation dot1q 3
                    #bridge-group 3
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface fa0.1
                     #encapsulation dot1q 1 native
                    #bridge-group 1
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface fa0.2
                     #encapsulation dot1q 2
                    #bridge-group 2
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface fa0.3
                     #encapsulation dot1q 3
                    #bridge-group 3
                   #exit
for the non-root , same config but the station-role should be non-root

I just got a new iPad 2 and I have lot of questions. I was able to wirelessly link my iPad and iTunes on my PC. I was able to SYNC my email and calendar (new entries only no history), however I have not been able to SYNC Outlook contacts. Outlook has multiple contact lists. Only one has any data. I can't find a way to delete the others and I can't keep the one I want to use at the top of the list. Any ideas?
I have a question about email. I have several thousand emails in 10 or so days. How can I select multiple emails for deletion in stead of one at a time? How do I designate emails from a given sender as junk or block certain senders?
    Ron

the spcs page on this site state which video formats the ipad supports
I'd suggest converting your old videos to one of those formats
handbrake is a free program which does this for you
itunes used to be able to too when I right clicked incompatible media but don't see the option any more
or maybe it only show when one right click incompatible media and currently my lib don't have any
about the music then it's odd what formats are they?
if they are acc protected have you tried to remove the DRM this can be don using itunes as
apple don't use DRM for music any more

  • Ipod connection causing netgear wireless link to fail

Every time I connect my ipod to windows, my wireless link (netgear router) fails, and I have to turn my computer off an on again. Using itunes v7 with 4th generation ipod.

DHCP lease time on the router is 30 minutes.
It appears that the clients, specifically the only wireless laptop on the network, drops the connection and when it reconnects it gets a new lease and IP address.  This happens many times until all IPs are in use.  I don't know why the lap top drops the connection when the signal strength is excellent.
I have seen the MAC address of the Client in some cases but the majority are the WRE.
I've linked to some pictures of the router set up, the DHCP client list, and the basic WRE setup.  There are only 3 wireless devices in my home, 1 laptop, 2 iPhones.  I guess a neighbour could be trying to connect but I do have MAC address filtering turned on so only included MAC Addresses can connect.
I guess I could always update the firmware but I only want to do that if it will fix this issue.  I tried the live chat today but I didn't have access to my home network so there wasn't much that we could do.

  • Proc fails with sqlcheck=full accessing tables across a link to non 11g db

I am trying to compile programs that were upgraded from 9i to 11g and having issues whenever I try to compile code that accesses non 11g databases across a link when sqlcheck is anything other then syntax.
If I have a select such as
    select distinct a.ID_NUM, b.value1, b.value2, ...
    from table_a a, table_b@external_db b
    where a.ID_NUM = b.ID_NUM and a.process_name='REPORTS';
This compiler sits and hangs for a few minutes then aborts. This problem occurs in Pro*C, Pro*Cobol as well as Oracle Forms.
The query works fine under sql*plus. The compiler just can't handle it.
A work around under Pro*C is to use sqlcheck=syntax when compiling any code that accesses across a link. However this isn't a good workaround since it won't catch errors such as a typo in a column. This also won't work in forms, but a work around is to convert the selects into a view. However that isn't a good workaround due to the number of queries that would need changing.
Has anyone else seen this issue and found out what needs changed in the Database for this to work. I tried searching Oracle's web site but couldn't find any solution.

I'm not sure why I never thought of searching MetaLink, but thanks for the pointer! It doesn't match my circumstances, however. The Bug smells like a view not being queried in the APEX development tool itself -- i.e. the IDE's coding needs changing, not necessarily those apps created with the IDE.

  • WRT54GX4 Wireless link not working

    Hi all
I have been trying to setup a WRT54GX5 Router but I've not been able to make the wireless link work.
The wired connections work perfectly but my laptop cannot see the wirleless network.
I've upgraded the firmware to the latest version available at Linksy's site 1.00.20
In the Status/System Performance page of the configuration the Connection status for wired is "Connected" but the wireless is always "Down".
In the Wireless/Basic Wireless Settings page the Wireless Network Mode = Mixed.
Also the "Wireless" LED in the equipment is off. It just lights up briefely at powerup (so, the LED is OK) but then remains always off
I've rebooted the equipment a number of times but to no avail
    Any suggestion, comment most welcome
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    Thank you for your post
I've just set the option Wireless Network Mode = Mixed in the Wireless/Basic Wireless Settings page of the configuration tool.
Could you please elaborate on how to enable the wireless option.

  • Tecra 8000 wireless link

I have obtained a Tecra 8000 with a 10/100 Network port replicator that will be used as a second desktop at home. On my main PC I use a Netgear DG834G ADSL wireless router (802.11g) for a broadband connection. What is the best way to make a wireless connection with the Tecra ?
There appear to be a number of cardbus adapters (eg Netgear WG511)or USB adapters (eg WG111).
    Is the Tecra 8000 USB v2 or v1.1 ?
I could simply put the router close by and use the ethernet link but I would rather have the laptop away from the available phone sockets. Is it best to test the LAN connections etc in this manner before attempting the wireless link?
Regrettably I have cross posted this on the Tecra forum before I discovered this one. My apologies

I have the same router and use a Netgear WG511T...works very well. Just install the software that comes with the wireless card and plug it in...that's about it. You can then network the two computers together...if you're running XP on both it's pretty automatic (just run the network wizard on both machines).
You can of course hard wire your Tecra into the router...but as you say a wireless link is far more versatile and after all, that is what the DG834 is designed to do.
Make sure the drivers for the DG834G and the network card are the most up to date ones. You may have to reconfigure the router to allow a new computer to log into it...but that's not too difficult

  • Wireless link(bridge) between two ap 1300

Hello, i need to configure wireless link between my 1300 series, how can i use them like a bridge and access point in the same time?
Do i need static ip for BVI interfacess between them for bridge or its need to be DHCP, is there any example? i would be great to know that
    thank you

Here is a simple config example
    Root                                                                           Non-Root
R(config)#dot11 ssid test                             n-R(config)#dot11 ssid test
                    #authentication open                    n-R(config)#authentication open
                   #infrastructure-ssid                       n-R(config)#infrastructure-ssid
                   #exit                                                                  #exit
    R(config)#int d0                                          n-R(config)#int d0
                   # ssid test                                                  #ssid test
                    #statio-role root bridge wireless-client          #station-role non-root bridge wireless-client
                    #no shut                                                   #no shut
For BVI interfaces you can assign either static or dynamic IP address
But it is highly recommended to have static ip for better management.

  • Wireless link example

    Hi,
I was looking for a Labview example of how to establish a wireless link
between two PXI boxes.  One with a NI 5660 as a receiver and one
with a NI 5670 as a transmitter.  I wish to read in a text file,
convert it to bits, modulate and then transmit from one PXI box
wirelessly to another PXI and recover the file.  It doesn't have
to adhere to any specific standard such as 802.11 and any sort of
modulation such as QAM or PAM will do.  Has anything like this
    been done?
    Thanks,
    Carl

    Hi Andrey -
I apolgize for Minh's lack of response.  He's no longer working on web support, so I won't be able to follow up on his work.
While the exact set of programs requested by the original poster may not exist, there are several example programs that ship with the Modulation Toolkit that can help.  Many of them exist in Mod/Demod pairs, and you can run whichever program necessary on each system.  Their names all start with "MT RFSA" or "MT RFSG", so they're easy to find.  For instance, you could use the MT RFSG Generate QAM and MT RFSA QAM Demod pair.

  • Redundant Wireless links

i'm in the process of investigating on redundant wireless links. the case is, i have two wireless antennas each of them on different network and serving two different areas. is it possible to let one of the antennas to take over if the other one fails?

The controllers i do not have much experience in so i had to go out researching via google and cisco's internal and forum search function. It first appears that the controller doesnt support hot standby for the APs themselves but rather increases the APs power around them.. However again this is just some brief research i did and may be incorrect. If you dont recieve an answer open up a tac and they will be able to tell you for sure.
Sorry i wasnt more help.. If you end up using some ap's outside of the controller you can find the Hot standby setttings by using the GUI and clicking on "services" then the 2nd option is 'Hot Standby'.

  • WAAS Connection speed across asymmetric link

I am deploying 2 WAE's (4.0.13) across an assymmetric link (i.e. 256k in one direction, 128K in the other). This is for a POC and both units are inline.
    I have two questions :
    1. Will it work (accelerate) across a link like this ?
    2. When configuring the connection speed for the WAFS connectivity directive (CIFS), what will the connection speed be , 128k or 256k ?
    Thanks
    Nigel.

    Nigel,
    Answers to your questions:
    1. Yes, this should be fine.
    2. What is the bandwidth for the Core --> Edge direction. I would start with that one.

  • Problems establishing wireless link -1410 bridges

I have 2 new 1410 wireless bridges on which I can not establish a wireless link using 3ft Andrews Parabolic antennas (33db gain) over a distance of about 17.7 miles. I am running the radios in autoinstall mode, have verified the azimuths and performed vertical sweeps with the antennas on each end off the link, still nothing.
There are no log entries showing any change in the radio or association status. Running debugs while moving the antennas changes nothing as well.
Is there any good reason I would be receiving a link? These new radios and antennas are replacing a pair of old 350s using grid mesh antennas and have gone up in the same place as the 350s.

I didn't try connecting them in the same room, didn't really think about it because I deployed the same set up last year for two other point-to-point links and another one this week without any problems. This link is the longest distance though. I checked the math using the Cisco AP distance spreadsheet and even running at 54Mbps I should be able to get 20+ miles of distance. I checked the path in Google Earth to make sure there weren't any surprise hills in the way, but I'm in KS so hills really aren't much of an issue.
The radios are good, I can perform a carrier busy test and occasionally I will see some other radio signals. My tower guys performed a vertical sweep yesterday with no luck and verified the elevation against the previous antennas. At this point my biggest fear is the antenna towers are not tall enough for this new set up.

With EAP-PEAP the wireless supplicant uses your windows username / password and the laptop/desktop machine account that exists in the window active directory database to authenticate
With EAP-TLS the wireless supplicant uses the
digital certificate installed on the laptop/desktop to authenticate
Both methods use WPA or WPA2 to encrypt data

  • L3 QoS across wireless backhaul

I recently had to extend my corporate network across the street to a new office we rented.  During testing I noticed choppy VoIP calls  Our only real option was to connect them via a set of wireless bridges so that's what we did.
I'm trying to setup QoS so that VoIP traffic isn't choppy during their massive file transfers.  We're using Nortel phones so they don't really work the best with Cisco's normal auto-qos setup, and I'm not sure I really need L2 QoS anyways since it's only a single switch and across the L3 link is where I really need it anyways.  If I could just prioritize entire VoIP subnet as it goes out the L3 interface to the wireless bridge, I think that would be good?  I'm not quite sure how to set this up.  Any reccomendations?
I attached a visio with port configs so you can how the network is setup.  Ask away if you need more info.
