Arranging pages

When you combine pdf files, are you allowed to rearrange the order of the pages? If so, how do you do this?

When you are combining your files you can rearrange the order of each file by using "Move Up" and "Move Down" keys.
Once you combine your files you can rearrange the order of pages in Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Reader does not have this feature.
You can download Acrobat XI Pro from www.adobe.com (trial version is 30 days) or you can upgrade your subscription to Acrobat Plus. Please see more information about Acrobat Plus at https://www.acrobat.com/acrobatplus/en/home.html
Once you install Acrobat on your computer please do following to rearrange pages:
1. Open your combined PDF file in Acrobat Pro
2. Select "Tools" from right pane
3. Select "Pages"
4. Select "Page Thumbnails"
5. "Page Thumbnails" pane opens up at left side of Document window
6. Drag and drop pages in the pane.

New audio track in arrange page problem

In the LSA I have 64 audio tracks and 32 audio instruments set up. When I open Logic, my autoload contains 16 audio tracks and my environment is configured as I set it up in the LSA. Everything is as it should be. However, when I select track 16 in the arrange page and use the key command control>shift>return to add another track, audio16 is duplicated. When I use the menu to 'create with next instrument' audio17 is created, but in my environment, my 64 audio tracks are reduced to 24. Using the menu to add audio tracks only lets me add to 24.
I've trashed my preferences but that did nothing.
One thing that may be relevant is that after setting up the LSA as described above, I copied an old autoload from my powerbook that only contained 24 audio tracks. After realizing that I need more tracks I trashed that autoload and re-ran the LSA. (on a side note - your autoload will trump your LSA set-up if they differ). I think that the old autoload is still causing a problem even though I trashed it.
Any help in the frustrating situation is most appreciated!

It is normal that Logic uses the same audio object
when you create a track with control-shift-return,
that's the way it's supposed to be. If you want to
create a new track and a new audio object assigned to
it, "create with next instrument" is the way to do
it. You could also use "create multiple..."
in the drop down menu it says that the key command for 'create with next instrument' is control>shift>return.
If you're limited to 24 tracks, I'd check in your
audio preferences. Your maximum tracks limit is
probably set to 24 tracks.
my audio preferences are set to 64 tracks of audio.

Drag and drop to re-arrange pages

how do I re-arrange page numbers?
I have tried to drag and drop from the left pane (page thumnails), but when I do this it grabs a group of pages and tries to move the whole group.(3 to 4 pages at a time)
I do not have the option of unchecking "Ungroup" under the Arrange tab.
Using an OLD Version 2.0.2

@Jerrold Thanks for the feed back, this did seem to work for me, but sometimes creating a section break, also creates a new blank page in between sections, so then I had to delete that page.
I agree with jamills, it seemed like the old version worked fine, from what I remember, although I dont use Pages very often and it has been a while since I have created a document that was more than a few pages and had to re-order them. so I could be wrong on that also.

Re-order tracks on arrange page

Hi, maybe this sounds stupid but for some reason i cant re-order tracks on the arrange page. I think you can do it dragging and drop each track with the "hand" ... right? or no...
i'm lost here and this really break my head cause then is a kaos when i'm mixing!...

Hi there... sorry for the confusion... i what i mean was *at the mixer window*... so i can arrange the tracks, sub-groups, buses etc... not at the arrange!!

How to Change background colour in the Arrange page

I find the LPX arrange page is generally rather too dark, is there a way of changing the background colour? I am sure L9 had this facility but cannot find it on LPX.

No, there (probably) isn't. You can only set the piano roll background lighter, but not the arrange background, unless this is mentioned somewhere in this thread about customizing the LP X color scheme:

Strange Error Message after Adding Apple Loops to Arrange Page

after dragging some apple loops onto arrange page. i'm getting this error message." audio file "drone Bellos 01 .caf hasn't got sufficient access privilidges so the overview canot be saved. any ideas why this is happening?

Yes, some of the Apple loops are protected (Jobs knows why). You can change this by searching the file in the finder with spotlight, then hit apple+i->menue opens->click into the lock->set your permissions to "read and write"->done. Unfortunately this procedure has to be performed seperately for each protected loop.

How to arrange page dropdowns in the Web Analysis report

I have created a Web Analysis document based on my Esssbase cube. This document contains just one grid with 7 dropdowns. All dropdowns are in one line above and they are narrowed so as they all fit into 1 line within the screen and I cannot see the full names of members within a dropdown. So I need advice on how I can arrange the dropdowns in my Web Analysis report so that I can see the full names of members when opening the dropdown? Thank you so much!

Yes, it works if one creates dropdowns via combo box controls attached to the same data source as the spreadsheet and applying these controls via the service button control (in this case you do not create page dropdowns in the data layout window of the spreadsheet and leave them in the data layout window's Filter pane). Otherwise it is impossible to edit the size and position of page dropdowns created in the Data Layout window of the spreadsheet.

How do you add and re-arrange pages in the new Pages software?

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a page or re-arrange a page with the new software. The old Pages allowed you to drag and drop or even duplicate old page layouts. Is this feature completely gone in the new software? Even the add section pulldown menu was below the fold on my 13" MacBook Pro and not visible on the screen. Any help would be appreciated. This seems like a major oversight.

I had same question with Calendar in iPhoto 6. Want to add some quotes or art objects to the monthly calendar itself other than in a day. Themes vary I understand. I like the basic photo theme or modern but they have only one design choice. Are there other themes available somewhere for download? Or is there a way to customize. iPhoto seems pretty limiting in choices. John

IDCS 1.0 How to arrange pages to print brochure?

I'm qualified to do fairly simple documents on IDCS 1.0, but that's all. I've done a twelve page brochure to be read by scrolling one page after another. Now, I need to prepare a version that can be run on a FedEx-Kinkos' Xerox Docucolor printer to produce a printed brochure that can be stapled in the middle and folded in half to make it look like a book with text and artwork on every page. I understand that page 1 needs to be on the first page on the right side (of the facing pages) and page 12 on the left and that on the back of that page, call it the second page, page 2 is on the left and page 11 on the right and so forth until all pages are finished. The printer will first print facing pages on the "front" of a page and then turn the page over and print the next set of facing pages on the "back" of that same page and then print on the "front" of the next page and so forth. Please forgive me for using the word "pages" for two different things, but I don't know any other words to describe what I'm trying to do.
I've never done this before and I can't really make sense of ID's help items. I opened a new document with the intent of copying a page from the source document and pasting it in the appropriate location on the new, destination document. I tried to set up facing pages to get this going, but I always get a single page at the beginning and another single page at the end of the document. I can't get them all to be facing pages.
Questions:
1. Is there a way to get IDCS 1.0 to do the desired arranging automatically by operating on a second copy of the single paged (non facing) document?
2. If not, how do I get the pages window to show only facing pages. It seems stuck with a single page at the beginning and another single at the end of the document. I'd appreciate very much being pointed in the right direction. Thanks.

You are correct. InBooklet SE was no longer available to Adobe after Quark bought ALAP. Adobe did replace the functionality to some degree with a "print booklet" feature for output. However, it cannot be used for PDF export.
Our recommendation is generally that page imposition is absolutely not an appropriate task to be performed in a page layout program which better handles pages in logical page order. Imposition is best performed by the print service provider at the RIP or via their PDF workflow software. Another very good solution is to impose the document (whether doing n-up, step-and-repeat, booklets, etc.) in Acrobat. Simple booklets can be readily printed by Acrobat Pro. More complex imposition tasks yielding a new, fully imposed PDF file of print flats can be handled by some third party plug-ins for Acrobat including Quite Software's "Quite Imposing" and "Quite Imposing Plus.

How do I arrange Pages doc so that page no.s work in duplex print?

Hope one of you bright sparks can help1 I agreed to take on the production/editing of my local village magazine. Created a template, put all the adverts/articles in without too much of a problem, being pretty new to Pages. However when I went to print it I had a problem that I cheated on by manually typing page numbers at the foot of each page.
What I need to do is print two A5 pages to each A4 sheet so that the magazine can be stapled as an A5. So what I effectively want to do is: put page 1 on the right & page 52 on the left, then page 2 on the left and page 51 on the right (so that this can be printed on the reverse of the first A4 sheet) etc. I have (rightly or wrongly) made each of the A5 pages a separate section. Does anyone have any advice as to how to easily accomplish (and have different margins for left and right hand pages) as this as it must be a common requirement?

Once installed, you can make booklets from the Print>PDF dialog:
The above is for Cocoa Booklet. There is another Booklet-maker if you search Apple downloads for "Booklet." Both give similar results.

7.2 - Regions jumping around on the Arrange page - Help!!

Just installed 7.2.
When I select a section of an audio region, and move that new region to another track (and/or another channel): 1) the remaining audio regions on that track jump together, as if I had done "tie regions by position change" (which I haven't), or they exchange places - this also happens when I delete an audio section in the middle of a region. Additionally, 2) the region I moved to another track jumps away from its position in the song to tie to any other region on that track.
This is totally screwed up. Longtime Logic user; never seen anything like this.
Any help appreciated.

When I record audio the sound waves arent visible in the arrange page?

When recording audio, The sound records fine but the visible wave is tiny to non existent. Any idea what I might have done to cause this as it wasn't always the case??

Micah, look in the lower right-hand corner of the arrange window. Right next to the zoom horizontal and vertical sliders, there's a little wave icon. Clicking it will magnify the waves. How's the actual sound, Is it too quiet? What do your audio waves peak at?

CAN'T SELECT INDIVIDUAL PAGES IN THUMBNAILS TO RE-ARRANGE ORDER...

I have two Pages documents with text boxes, photos etc, which I created with separate pages using 'Sections' (add Blank) so that I could change page order etc in the thumbnails preview.
I've just opened the documents to edit/update them and both are now not allowing me to select and move the individual pages in the thumbnail viewer.
When I try to select a page it selects the whole document, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid by creating the pages/document with 'sections'.
Also I can't insert a new page into the document where I choose. I want to add new pages into various places in the document and can't.
Anyone have any idea how I can make the pages individually selectable again? And be able to insert a page where I choose? Took hours to create these documents and don't want to start from scratch again.
And does anyone know why suddenly the pages are 'locked' locked together when I specifically created the document with separate section pages? Want to avoid this happening in future; REALLY annoying!
If this is a Pages fault it stinks. If you can't simply re-arrange pages in a Pages document by drag and drop that's BAD! Anyone know a good alternative to Pages which allows this function?

Ok, you are expecting Pages to work in a way it doesn't. You seem to have a Word processing document and the idea is to add or delete content, not pages. Pages will adjust to commode the contetn.
On the other hand if you can Insert > Section breaks where you want to add a page or Insert > Page break.
Layout documents will work as you want it but you need to use text boxes to being able to add text.
