Arranging photos in Revel.

I would just like to say that I really hope the Revel designers/engineers decide to - ASAP please!!! - create a function whereby we users can custom arrange photos (library and albums) in whatever order we would like. So far, that is the only function I can see that is making Revel less than perfect for viewing and sharing photos. Instead of providing a button where we can immediately print photos with Walgreens (does anyone still go to Walgreens??), please make a function where we can CUSTOM arrange our photos. From what I can tell this issue hasn't been addressed since last year (2013)….well….we're in the middle of 2014 now…. Um, 'nuf said.

If you set “Keep All Originals” set to On on your mac (the default setting),  your revel photos are stored in two places: the cloud and the hard drive. The backup file on your Mac can be found at:   (/Users/<username>/Pictures/Adobe Revel/Adobe Revel Library.rvl)
(right-clickon the file and select open package contents to get to the photos)
You can disable Keep all Originals if you know you have your originals stored safely elsewhere, or if you don’t have enough disk space on your Mac to accommodate all photos.

  • FAQ: How do I edit photos in Revel?

Start by installing Adobe Revel to your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android device. Tell family and friends who will be
viewing your Adobe Revel photos to install the apps, too.
When you're sharing photos with friends and family, you want them to look their best so that everyone gets to experience and enjoy the moment as much as you did. That’s why we built intuitive and powerful editing tools right into Revel. Make every moment look exactly how you want to remember it with ease.
    Editing Photos in Revel
You can edit a photo on your Mac, iPad, or iPhone using Adobe Revel. Changes are saved to your photo library, so
the photo looks the same on any device.  The Revel cloud keeps a copy of your full res originals. Edits in  revel are non-destructive, so your original is always preserved (unedited). When you export photo (MAC) Save to Camera Roll (iOS), that's when Revel applies your edits. On iOS the preview is used. on MAC the full resolution of the original is used to generate the new edited photo.
    Add adjustments to your photos
Go to the photo you wish to edit.
Click on the +- Edit button on the bottom center of the page on the iPad or the iPhone.
Select a preset adjustment look or adjust red eye, crop, or rotate.
With Revel’s intuitive and powerful editing tools, it’s lots of fun to make your photos look better. Crop and use one-touch filters to get professional results with ease, or use the adjustment sliders when you want to experiment with lighting, color, and sharpness.
Use the crop and red-eye removal tools help you create the perfect memory by eliminating unwanted parts of a photo. And when you have a special memory, use the advanced controls in Revel to give it a look all your own.
Edits you make to a photo appear when you view the photo on any device. Because Adobe Revel saves the edits as separate instructions rather than as changes to the original photo, you can always undo any edits you've made. For example, you can select a black-and-white look, and then if you change your mind, tap or click Undo. If you make a series of edits and then change your mind, tap or click Cancel.
To improve lighting or contrast, tap or click Adjustments. Drag the White Balance, Exposure, and Contrast sliders to achieve the effect you want. Tap or click the two-way  arrows (see image below) for additional sliders that give you finer control
Looks: Turn a photo into an amazing photo with a single tap. With  24 different photo filters it's easy to create a photo that will impress your friends and family.

the original image, just click "Undo"
iPhone Users:  There is  an "undo" button and "compare" button so you can see the before and after result for adding an adjustment to your image.
    Red Eye
Using Revels Red Eye removal is easy. Just click on the "Auto Detect & Correct" or click on the persons eyes in your image  as Revel will automatically correct the red eyes.
    Crop & Rotate
Crop: To remove unwanted areas of the photo, tap or click Crop & Rotate. Drag a corner or side of the frame to resize it. Drag the photo itself to reposition it. Pinch your fingers open to zoom in on the photo within the frame.

Copy to Clipboard: This will copy the image to your computers clipboard, then you can paste your image into various applications like Elements 11
Iphone Users: You can share your photos via e-mail or upload your images directly to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter & Tumblr.
    Actions Menu

Save Current to cameral roll: Exports the current version of the image that you have applied any adjustments to
Save Original to cameral roll: Exports the original image with out any adjustments applied.
Storing your original photos When you import a photo, Adobe Revel uploads a copy of the original to the cloud.
By default, Adobe Revel also stores a copy of the original on your computer in /Pictures/Adobe Revel Library
The files are stored in a "package" titled Adobe Revel Library. Control click on the package and select "Show Package Contents" from the menu. Then you will be able to view the images in the finder window.
    Favorites
When working with a single photo,  click on the "STAR" to mark your photo as a favorite. The image will show with a star under the "Favorites" in your Revel library.
    Add captions to your photos
Create lasting memories by preserving all the info and details related to each of your photos.
    Deleting photos
Be careful! Deleting a photo removes it from Revel on all your devices, not just the one you're working on. Make sure you really don't want the photo anymore before you delete it.
For example: If you delete the image on your phone or iPad, the image will also be deleted from the Adobe Revel Library in the /Pictures/Adobe Revel Library directory on your computer. Its always a good practice to back up your images to a location on your hard drive.

  • FAQ: Can I edit my photos in revel from the browser or android interface?

Q: Can I edit my photos in revel from the browser or android interface?
A: At this point (Feb 2013) you can not edit the photos in Revel unless you are using the Mac, iPhone, or iPad app version of Revel. We are continuing to add new features and intend to add new platforms and file types in the future.
If you have the app loaded on an iPad, iTouch, or Mac, see this  link to learn how to edit:
FAQ: How do I edit photos in Revel?

There isn't an Aperture or iPhoto app for the iPad (it comes with a basic Photos apps which is effectively just a viewer), and the photo editing apps that do exist are fairly basic : cropping, brightness, rotation, straightening etc e.g. the free Photoshop Express app from Adobe (which also has an in-app purchase option). You can use the iPad for reviewing photos but if you tend to do extensive editing then it's probably not suitable.

How do I arrange photos in ATV2 slideshow?

Thanks, that is what I am doing and it works.  But when the folder contents are displayed for Slideshow, the photos are not in the order that I want.  I can't figure out what controls the order in Slideshow because it is different from the order in the original folder and doesn't correlate with any of the columns (eg, Name, Date Created, etc). It seems like there is a random element in the transmission from iTunes to Apple TV, but that doesn't make sense.

I have recently purchased an IPad Air. This comes with "IPhoto" as well as it's usual photo App. I do not have a Mac, instead I am syncing it to my windows PC. Is there any way of actually moving a picture around, (arranging photos in a single album), in either of these apps???? They claim to be able to "Organize"  or "arrange" Photos, but for the life of me I can't figure out how......could you recommend any apps that actually allow someone to move individual photos around on an IOS Device.

No, reordering within folders and albums is not supported. the yare arranged automatically by date. I found this, but I have not used any of the apps besides iPhone. You might check the descriptions to see if they do what you need.

  • How to arrange photos in Aperture slide shows to the beat of the  music?

Is there anyone that knows how to arrange photos to the beat of the music in Aperture slide shows? I have tried to do a search for this topic, looked at "help" and still can get things to work properly. The "beat of music" command seems to be grayed out. Is there a bug in the software? Any help would be appreciated.

I have been following this thread with great interest. I have tried to do this in Aperture as well. Jumping ahead just a bit to what might be David's next issue, once we figure out why the option is not available to him.
For me once the music has been added the " Align slide to the beat" is available. However it doesn't seem to do anything.
I have accomplished this in iMovie and Final Cut Express. In both of these programs you have to actually mark the beats for things to work. You mark the beats and the software sets the play duration to match. This is pretty easy in iMovie. I am hoping for a similar or better interface in Aperture 3. How is this accomplished in Aperture?

  • How to arrange photos in an album, PE11

I am unable to find how to arrange photos in an album in PE11. Anybody have an idea?

When you have selected an album, look at the menu 'Sort by', next to the 'All media' button. Set it to 'Album order'. Then you can select (highlight) one or several items and move them around in the browsing space.
Note that PSE11 is missing the alphabetical sort order (that has been introduced in PSE12).

  • How to arrange photos in camera roll datewise its not showing datewise please let me know

how to arrange photos in camera roll datewise its not showing datewise please let me know

    Emile
Bear with me a minute. You're confusing a lot of things.
    1. As Larry says, on Windows you are using a File Manager for you your photos. All well and good if it works for you, but limited. Why? Because it doesn't leverage any of the extra information available with photos files. Essentially, a File Manager doesn't distinguish between a photo nd a Word file or a Music file. They are just files.
    2. Photo Managers like iPhoto (Or Picasa, Aperture, Lightroom et al) work differently. They are designed to leverage the additional information available in the photo file. Case in point: Date. In the File Manager you have folders created for Year/Month/Day. In iPhoto the pics are grouped into Events automatically. These Events are based on the date and time the Photos were taken, and which is recorded in the Exif metadata for the photo file.
As we all know, when one downloads pictures from a camera, their"names" appear as a bunch of letters and the number indicating thesequence.
These are Filenames assigned by the Camera. In iPhoto you don't change Filenames you edit Titles. Titles are quite independent of filenames and are an entry in the Exif metadata.
I'm not sure what you've done in the renaming sequence, but iPhoto does not have a Sort -> by Name command. There is a Sort By Title command.
But you would not use Events for this job anyway. You would use an Album. Create an Album, drag the pics to it and then you can sort them in any order you want, manually. Then using the Batch Change Command you can create a sequence for them. So, Title the pics 'House Sale' and check the box to append  number and the result:
House Sale 01, House Sale 02 etc

  • EVENTS : Arranging Photos in an Event Manually

I have imported about 8000 photos and they are sorted in separate events. I would like to re-arrange the order of some of the photos in the events manually but when I try to do this via "sort photos", the manual option is greyed out and it won't let me do it anyway via drag and drop.
    1) Why is this?
    2) Can I actually change the order of photos within an event manually?
    3) Do you have to create an additional album for each event which duplicates the event in order to re-arrange photos within an event?
    Help!

I have imported about 8000 photos and they are sorted in separate events. I would like to re-arrange the order of some of the photos in the events manually but when I try to do this via "sort photos", the manual option is greyed out and it won't let me do it anyway via drag and drop.
    1) Why is this?
Because events can not be manually sorted
    2) Can I actually change the order of photos within an event manually?
    No
    3) Do you have to create an additional album for each event which duplicates the event in order to re-arrange photos within an event?
No matter what you can not rearrange photos within events manually - you can rearrange photos in albums
You can move photos between events, split events, and combine events
Events are the most basic automatic organization - most people use faces, places and keywords with smart albums for their organization beyond the time based events

  • Iphoto and Revel: Deleting photos from Revel on iPad.

If I delete photos in Revel will the original photos in iPhoto be deleted???

Thanks for your reply Pattie. I eventually figured this one out. However, my other question is regarding how I accidentally deleted a photo and then Revel wouldn't upload it again. I even tried renaming the photo and dragging it to my desktop. Revel said that it was a duplicate file and could not be uploaded. What doesn't make sense to me is that I deleted the photo from my library, not just an album, so where was Revel seeing the duplicate photo? I don't get it - have you come across this before?
My question was how do I upload the photo again?
Luckily, after having downloaded the Revel application to my laptop, the photo WOULD finally upload after dragging the original photo into the Revel app. However - just to let you know - it would NOT upload the photo, and continued to give me the "duplicate file" error, every time I tried to upload it to Revel in my browser (on Safari). Like I said, It would ONLY upload to Revel AFTER I downloaded the app to my laptop and used that. Drove me insane because it didn't make sense to me!!
    But now you know.

  • Arrange Photos within an event

How do I rearrange photos within an event?

    Can anyone help please?

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
How do I rearrange photos within an event?
You can not - events are time based and you can not move tehphotos - you could change the times of the photos to match the order you want but I suggest that you leave the events the way they are and use albums for the specific order organization you want
I can move photos between events and arrange photos in slideshows
    but not within an event
    That is correct
    - they stay in the order they were imported.
They stay in the time date order of the EXIF data from your camera (if there was no EXIF data then the import date and time is used)
In Photo view of the library (as opposed to event view - select in the source pane to the left) you can turn off displaying event titles and then manually sort your photos - but this does not change their order in the events and if you have many photos will make response time very slow - normally it is not the way to go

  • Arranging photos in large album

I am trying to arrange photos in a large (600+ photos) album. Moving a photo a small distance works ok, just drag and drop. But if the destination is several screens away, the auto-scroll accelerates rapidly to go so fast that it is impossible to stop near the desired location.
Cut and paste seems not to work for moving photos around within an album either, as paste always put them at the bottom.
Any suggestions? I figure I must be missing something, because this is such a basic organizing function, and I find no one else complaining about it.
    Thanks, SW
P.S. The auto-scroll speed should, it seems to me, reset to slow when the cursor is moved back into the thumbnail window, but it remains at hyper-speed making control impossible.

There really is no fix for this, I’m afraid. Personally, I found that I could - with practise - use a kind of looping movement to get to the target roll. Later versions have Flagging, so you can flag the pics you want to move then select the target roll (or Event) and simply use a menu command to move the flagged photos there.

  • Arranging Photos When Synching MobileMe from Aperture to web

When I arrange the photos in my mobile me album in Aperture by "Rating", then synch it from aperture to the web, it keeps going back to "Manual", affecting the photo arrangements I intended. Of course, when i send the link to the client what he sees will be totally different from what I'm talking about.
The annoying thing is I keep telling it to arrange photos by Rating, synch it again, and it goes back to Manual, over and over. I have about 300 photos in the album, and sometimes it takes long.

Thanks to you all for the help and welcoming to the forum. I will get a color calibrator tomorrow as I know I need it. That link is very helpful also.
So far in my 1st two weeks running a mac, barring a few issues that I believe can be addressed with system updates, I am more than happy I made the switch.
I find photoshop and all my image editing software run really fast compared to my old windows pc. The funny thing is my pc is a 3.2ghz processor and my mbp is a 2ghz processor. Go figure!!
I like aperture a lot also but I am also pleased with lightroom. There is one major reason why I find myself using lightroom still. I can't find a way to edit multi images in aperture. In lr I just select the images I want to say change white balance, I select the preset wb or color temp. and then it updates all the images I have selected. Is there an equivalent to this action in aperture? I think if I had this available to me I would very very happy with aperture.

  • If I delete a photo in Revel, does it also delete it in Photoshop Elements 11?

I've begun uploading photos madly, in my 30 day unlimited upload window.  Now that I've got some photos and albums in Revel, I want to get rid of some of the photos.  If I delete a photo in Revel, I understand that it will also be deleted from my iPhone and iPad and anything else that is Revel.  But, will it also delete that photo in my Photoshop Elements 11 on my laptop?

Revel will not delete anything saved separately in Elements or your hard disk, only in the Revel Cloud and in the Mac Revel library if you have the selection on a Mac set to keep originals.
