When I put my music into folders on my Nano it arranges them alphebetically and I don't see a way to change the track number (the way I arrange song order on my Nomad). I would like them in the order I am used to hearing them on the cd.

i read the faq and i'm having the same problem. i downloaded the media software from the website but i noticed it didn't include the media explorer. does just the cd software that came with the player contain it's i'm a little fustrated. does anybody have anymore input.

  • Sorting songs in Zen Nano Plus pla

First of all, the the Creative Media Explorer Helpt tells the following:?]]To manually sort audio files according to your preference
[*]In Windows Explorer, locate and click the Creative Media Explorer icon. A list of players connected to your computer appears.<[*]Click the player that you want to set as acti've. Any ideas? I'm using WIndows Vista with the latest Media Explorer software.
    Thanks in advance!

I'm having exactly the same problem.
I have just installed the?Zen Nano Series Media Explorer on Vista. It is the latest version downloaded from the Creative website. There is definitely no Custom Sort button. I have also installed the latest version of the?firmware (.4.03e), which is supposed to improve the player's compatibility with?Vista.
Previously I was using the same Zen?Nano Plus player on an XP computer with an older version of the Media Explorer software. That version had Custom Sort and it always worked perfectly. I'm surprised there haven't been more posts about this, as it's a very useful function and I shall miss it'sgreatly if I can't get it to work on this new Vista?computer.
Isn't it a bit'sabsurd that?the newest version of the software?has?less functions than an older version?

  • Playlist Song Order Chan

Searched the Forum at length for the answer but didn't find it. Sorry if I missed it. On my Zen Xtra I can see the Playlist in the right pane (in Organizer), select a song, left click hold, and drag it up or down, and it moves. It also works with arranging song order on the playlists on my PC and Zen Micro (when viewed in right pane). This does NOT work with my Vision M. Am I missing something or is that the way it is? Thanks.

Use the Zen Media Explorer for your player to edit the playlist. Open the player using that application choose edit playlist & change the order there. When done click Ok/Save (can;t remember which one it says ) & that should be all you can also add songs this way. However the playlist must have been created using the Creative software. It will not edit a playlist created with Windows Media Player.

  • Problem with transfer and ordering of tracks on new Zen Nano P

I recieved my Gb Zen Nano Plus player on wednesday and transferred quite a few tracks to the player that night. They transferred fine, I was able to customize the playing order and all the songs play fine.
But since then, I have been unable to transfer tracks to the player or change the order of the tracks. The player is recognised when I plug it in, but I am just unable to do anything with the tracks!! I have plenty of memory left and it isn't anything to do with the USB.
I really need to know what's going on and how to fix it :-(
    Help!!!

What error message do you get when you try to transfer the extra files?
Are all files in the root folder? If so see the FAQ.

  • How do I organize my songs(files, playlists) in my zen nano p

I have read the FAQ about organizing in a USB mass storage player, but I still do not understand how to do it. I have a Zen nano plus with GB and I would like to put my songs into a certain order and/or in 'playlists'. In the FAQ it says to click on the folder where the tracks are that you want reordered, but I do not have a seperate folder where tracks are. Is there also a way to make folders to put songs into If so, how? Also, when a song is playing and I hold down the 'scroll' button a screen comes up that says root with a folder in the left hand corner and two arrows on either side at the bottom with no other words. What is this? Does it have anything to do with making different folders? Most of my songs that are in the Creative Mediasource Organizer are not under the PC music library but in Zen Nano Plus(on the left hand side of organizer) and only show when my zen nano plus is connected to the computer, is that supposed to happen? Will it help in making folders/reordering if all the songs are in the PC music library? How do I put them there(the songs that are in the library are also in the Zen Nano Plus area)? Please help.

Right click the header bar. Select "Date Added" to add it if it isn't already a sort category. Then click the heading to sort either in ascending or descending order.

  • Zen Nano Plus: I can't get my CDs to play in original order...He

    Hello. I'm new here.
I got a Zen Nano Plus 52 mb a few months ago. Installed the software on my computer. I'm not very computer literate.
Here's what's frustrating me: I can't seem to listen to my CDs in their original order.
) I put a CD in my computer
    2) Whether I view the track list in Windows Media Player or in the Creative Media Menu the track list appears in its original order as seen on the CD.
    3) I "rip" the CD to my Nano player.
    4) When I disconnect the player and go to play the album the tracks are all mixed up and not in the original order anymore.
I've tried some different things but nothing seems to correct the problem. I'm hoping someone can direct me what to do. I'm very confused, as I don't understand much of the computer terminology I read.

As in other response, the Nano Plus does not read ID tag info for sorting (it does read part of the tag--song name---only for display while that song is playing). Tag info typically includes the track number. Windows Media Player plays tracks in order of track number contained in the ID3 tags. The Nano Plus only sorts by filename. You can rip your tracks in a format that is prefixed by the track number (for filename). This can be done in Windows Media Player and other programs. Somehow you ripped tracks without the track number first (which would solve your problem). You tracks should look like "0-Come Together-Bealtes.wma" or something like this. This is the FILENAME, as you would see in Windows Explorer. The track info is not visible in Windows Explorer views. You can see it from Windows Media Player or Creative Media Source Organizer, though. Other players like Zen Micro and Touch sort tracks and build the library database on ID3 Tag info, not filenames.

  • Zen Nano skips songs between playing

i own 2 zen nano's and both of them have been skipping songs randomly between playing... for example, it'll play -2 minutes of a particular song, then it skips to something else... then it'll come back to the original song...what's going on?
    i've changed batteries and all!!

    >mojitocrazy: thanks for responding to my post... i have a MAC (...)
    >i have 2 zen nano's... one of them is a year old and it has never given me problems and >i've always used the same method of downloading
    >JUST RECENTLY it started acting nuts!
    >the second player is a brand new and is giving the same problem..,
    Hello again,
My NANO worked just for 22 days after I got it...
Then the flash memory corrupted and I was unable to delete/update files...
During the time it was working good, I experienced some mp3 files were incompatible with this player: BUT such files were simply ignored and the first next valid song was played instead. This is not really a shame for NANO because there are a lot of mp3 codec variants so, sometimes even the best player for PC fails to play...
But the strange behaviour of your NANO is not clear to me...
    Theory :
May be the file sistem has logical errors. So, the files are randomly chained and the player is playing some data from the first song, some from the next song and then from the first song again(?)
Long time ago, I had an HDD crash. It was a software crash due to windows halted while writing the File Allocation Table. The result was all my movies, stored on HDD, get mixed togheter! Incredible...
->If you clear the files from NANO and then upload them again in a different order, the songs play bad in the same manner or it depends on the position in the memory?
    Theory 2:
your firmware got damaged in some parts while you was upload mp3 files and now the program is corrupted...
Both cases randomly happened because the NANO firmware is bugged and bad designed in the file handling, I think...

  • How do I arrange songs in a particular order without modifying the tag info

    Hi.
I'm trying to arrange songs in a playlist to play in a certain order without having to permanently modify the tag information like track number. Can this be done?
    Thanks!

This can be done by sorting on the leftmost column (with the numbers).
Then you can drag them at any position you want.
Shuffling for that playlist has to be off.
    Hope this helps.

  • Zen Nano PLus song list probl

I had transferred about 00 songs into my zen nano plus but when I played it, I realised that I had lost alot of songs. Check the system info and it states that I have only 34 songs in the player. When i check back on my pc, it indicates that i have 00 songs in my player.
I owned the gb version and have only transferred less than half of its capacity.
I have the updated firmware and driver installed and my songs are all mp3 format. Therefore there shouldn't be a reason the player can't play my songs.
    Thanks,

So after I posted my initial qns, I went through the forums and found out that flash based players couldn't handle too many folders. I had transferred my songs using wmp sync and by doing so, the player created folders for each individual artist and broke down further into albums. This would have been great for hdd players but not for flash based ones.
What I did was to just transfer the songs individually using the explorer. It's a tad hassling but it doesn't create all those folders.
Hope that this help for any other new users of zen nano plus or flash based player. Feel a bit idiotic answering my own question though.
Jaded_Whisper if you have any more questions, you could pm me. I could try to help you with all my newbie expertise. LoL

  • Playlists on Zen Nano or MuVo TX FM using 3rd party softw

    Hi everyone,
I know that the Zen Nano / MuVo TX FM / MuVo N200 do not permit the creation of playlists. But if you use a third party software program like Notmad Explorer, can you create playlists? The features page suggests that you *can* create playlists...
    Thanks!

Somebody recently helped me with this here. With the Nano Plus, anyway, Creative gives you Zen Nano Explorer software. You set up your music on the player in folders, and this is how you navigate to albums, artists, "Playlists" or however you have your folders set up. You can create a folder containing the tracks you want in a "playlist", then this software has a utility that allows you to arrange them in the order you want. It appends the track filename with numbers in that order so your tracks play in the order you picked. It acts exactly like a playlist, except it is another regular folder with another copy of your song in it (it cannot create a pointer to the track elsewhere on your player like a REAL playlist can). These little flash players have very simple menus and structure. They can display the title from the ID3 tag, but can't do anything with genre, album, etc. unless you organize folders this way.
The bottom line is that if you want a selected bunch of tracks to play in a specific order, this can be done, and they include the software to do it with the player.

  • Love my Zen Nano P

Ordered my Nano Plus from Buy.com and it arri'ved in 3 days. It was so cheap that I expect Creative is coming out with its own Nanokiller, but I gave away my 4GB Sansa and 'downgraded' to GB on the Zen Nano.
    Here's why:
The Nano has a clip and an armband
    The Nano is incredibly lightweight
The Nano can be plug'n'play/drag'n'drop very easily
The Nano can be navigated without looking at it--very simple to move to the next song, repeat the previous song while running, lifting weights... whatever.
All it needs is a clock and a timer--it would then be *THE* perfect workout mp3 player.
Can you hear me Creative Labs? All it needs is a clock function!

cyreb7 wrote:i had the same problem upgrading the firmware on my zen nano plus. and i need a better anser then."If you cannot connect it to your PC even in Recovery Mode then there isn't much you can do."
I am not a Creative employee so that is all you're getting from me on this one. If the player won't start and you cannot connect it to the PC then you cannot reload the firmware which is what would normally sort out this sort of problem. It could just be beyond repair.

  • Zen Nano and some directories not playing in track ord

Hi, I just bought a Zen Nano Plus and I've noticed that some album directories play in track order based on the track numbers found in the id3 tags while some directories play files in alphabetical order. All my directories on the Nano right now are for single full albums. I took a look at the files in two different directories and I can't see any difference in file naming or tagging that would cause this difference in playback order. They were even both ripped by the same ripper just weeks apart too which is odd.
I did look at the comments for the latest Muvo N200 firmware update and I noticed a blurb about directory play back not being consistent. Does the Zen Nano have the same problem as the Muvo N200? Is there a firmware forthcomming for this issue? Thanks.
    Tom

The N200 plays the track in alpha-numeric order - I'm sure the Nano isn't very much (if at all) different from the N200
Like 0, 02, 03, a, b, c, ID3 tags don't affect anything except the song title comming up, as far as I'm aware.

  • Changing song order in muvo tx

I have a nano plus and a muvo tx fm, I really like the custom sort feature that allows you to arrange the order of songs played in the nano plus. Is there anyway to get that function for the muvo tx fm? They are pretty similar software except for that feature. Any patches or upgrades out there?

The only way to sort on the MuVo is on a filename basis. You can use a program like ReOrganize to organise on the player.

  • Zen Nano Software CD - Is It Necessary on

Must I install the software if I just drag and drop using XP? What functionality is lost, if any, by not installing the software?
    Thanks

I would probably install "zen nano explorer", which will rip or convert tracks for you. You do not need this specific functionality, but it also includes a feature that will let you order tracks within a folder (which you can also set up in this software or elsewhere) and then rename them to begin with a new track number in the filename (leaves the tag alone since the Nano only uses the song title of the tag). This is a useful program to create a sort of "playlist" of tracks in a specific order without doing a lot of convoluted stuff yourself in renaming filenames (which is how the Nano sorts tracks).
