Arrays : Getting the 2 max values

Hi,
I've got a question. Can anyone help me ?
Imagine we've got an array of String with at least 2 elements.
How can I get the 2 biggest string of that array without sorting it and in only one loop through this array ?

of course it's for school but it's not homework. I'm revising for exams ;-)
let's see with an example:
I've got an array of String:
String [] s ={"YoYo", "Abab","Coco", "Zizo", "Riri","Fufu", "Gogol","Bebe"};
I declare 2 String max1 and max2
max1 = "";
max2 = "";
now I have to loop through my array and save the 2 biggest String.
I have to be sure than max1 is always bigger than max2 ?
Now I loop the array :
First round
Yoyo is bigger than max1
max1 = Yoyo
Second round
Abab is not bigger than max1 but bigger than max2
max2=Abab
Thirst round
Coco is not bigger than max1 but bigger than max2
max1= Yoyo
max2=Coco
4th round
Zizo is bigger than max1
max1 = Zizo
but there is a problem here... the old max1 (Yoyo) is bigger than max2, I must swap them or what?
Isn't it better if I process to have always max1 smaller than max2?
I don't know, I really don't see how can I solve this :(
Please, I don't ask you a code absolutely (because I don't really need it, but I thought it will be easier to understand), just an explanation how can that be solved.

When and How to get the Text.ScrollPos value of a String control when scroll bar position changed

I'm working on a feature triggered by scroll bar position of a string control changed.
But I could not find a good way to catch the scroll bar position changed event,
the scroll bar is controlled manually by mouse down → mouse move → mouse up, I want the get the Text.ScrollPos value when user mouse up, and compare with the maximum value.
But the problem is, mouse up on the scroll bar could not trigger String: Mouse up event!
So I have to get the Text.ScrollPos continuously in the background in Timeout event, but I think it’s not efficient.
Do you have any better idea on when to get the correct destination value of Text.ScrollPos?
I plan to store the value of Text.ScrollPos in the bottom(maximum value) in a shift register, then compare the current Text.ScrollPos value with the max one.
If it comes close to the bottom(90%~100% of the maximum value), then the close to bottom LED will turn on.

Hello Cecilia,
I don't think there is any build-in event for this.
One solution would be to create your own user event at the initialisation of you main and launch a thread which is going to be pulling the value of your scrollbar position:
Then you can build your main as if they were a scrollbar move event.
And dont forget to close the thread and destroy the event at the end.

Not able to get the profile option value

Hi,
Not able to get the profile option value after i changed the new value in the application.
I am using fnd_global.apps_initialize to initialize the apps from PLSQL code to get the updated profile option value. But fnd_profile.value is not getting fetched the updated value. Still it is fetching the old one. I mean it is stored in database cache. Please any one let me know how to get the new value every time after i changed the value.

What is the application release?
Is this a custom or seeded profile option?
Can you confirm that the value got changed from the application (query the profile option and verify the value)?
Can you reproduce the issue if you use an API to update this profile option as per (How to Change Profile Option Value Without Forms? [ID 943710.1])?

How to get the list of values for a dynamic parameter using Web Services SDK?

I am struggling to get the list of values for a dynamic parameter of a report.I am using Java Web Services SDK ... I tried to use PromptInfo.getLOV().getValues() method but it does not work.First of all ... is this possible (to get the list of values for a dynamic param) using Web Services?Second of all, if this is possible, how should I do it ... it seems it works fine when running the report from CMC. It asks for DB logon info and after that it provides a list of values.Thx 

Your assumption is correct. We are trying to get the LOVs from the Crystal Report. I was not aware that this is not supported by Web Services SDK.We used Web Services SDK to integrated the Crystal Reports in our web application. We implemented some basic actions for reports: schedule, view instances, run ad-hoc reports.We encountered this problem when trying to run/schedule reports with dynamic parameters (a list of values from DB). We were unable to get the LOVs.Please let me know if you can think of an alternative to look at.Thanks a lot,Catalin

out of the while loop as this is not necessary to be repeated for each key in the set

I have a requirement where i need to get the user entered value in the Parameter of a concurrent program while submitting it. i tried to query the FND_CONCURRENT_REQUESTS table but in that it stores the ID values from the value set of the Parameter.
After submitting the Concurrent request when we click on the view Details button it opens a form where it displays the arguments in the parameter field . i want to get that string.

Just add to combobox ItemListener. When item is changing in itemStateChanged arrives 2 events. ItemEvent.DESELECTED and ItemEvent.SELECTED with corresponding item's values. Just write something like this:

How to get the URL parameter value when navigating from JSP Page to portal

Hi All,
I have web Dynpro application with one button, while clicking that button It will navigate to JSP page as external window. In the JSP page I have a input field and Button.
In the JSP page input field I will enter some values and press submit button, it will navigate to Portal page by passing some URL parameter with values.
Once user entering to portal by default WD page displayed, the same WD page I try to get the URL Parameter which I have passed from JSP page, but I am not able to get the URL parameter value.
If same application running in without portal, I can able to get the URL parameter values. I am getting the URL parameter by interface view default inbound plug parameter.
How do we resolve this problem?

The called function is,

How can i get the 'text' property value of the corresponding button. Click action should be common to all buttons.

You could peek at the widget indicated in your screen shot, at least when that MDI (?) frame is showing.
The window title at kLayoutPresentationBoss, IID_IDOCUMENTPRESENTATION also reflects the value.
Probably best would be the kLayoutWidgetBoss, with its IID_IPANORAMA, GetXScaleFactor() - and GetYScaleFactor()!!!
I just try to imagine how a document would look if these differ from each other ;-) and, even better, how to achieve that from the UI.
Btw, one notification is on kDocWorkspaceBoss, protocol IID_IWINDOW, command kUpdateDocumentUIStateCmdBoss.
Another one: there is a kDocWindowTitleModifyService ...
Edit: of course I should again mention IID_IPANORAMA, observable from kLayoutWidgetBoss subject.

You have to pass a parameter. An id is good.
Of course you have to get an id from somewhere in the result set right?
<a target="_top" rel="contents" rev="contents" class="fordynamiclabel" href="ASCMasterTwo.jsp?id=<%= rSet.getString("id") %>"><%=rSet.getString(1) %></a></td>Then you call
request.getParameter("id");
and look up the values related to that id in the database.

First of this not hte mysql or database forum so don;t repeate again.
to get diff between two date in mysql use date_format() to convert them to date if they r not date type
then use - (minus)to get diff.
