Hi:
This website has videos on how to reattach keys.
If you put the full model number in the site, you will find the video for your key type.
1200dx isn't enough info.

  • F12 key has fallen off. How do I reattach it?

My f12 key has fallen off. How do I reattach it? It seems like the hooks on the keyboard itself are slightly bent, but I'm not sure if thats the design. Is this normal, or something I need to go get replaced?
Here's a picture that shows the hooks if you zoom in.

    Thanks!

Go to the iFixit.com web site.  See if they have instructions for your model MBP.
    Ciao.

  • GPU has fallen off the bus.

I experienced a weird problem for which I don't know the reason. A few months ago I had this problem which if I have to describe it, this is how it happens:
While I'm surfing, coding or playing a game, X dies (freezes) and the monitor goes black losing connection with the GPU. I saw the GPU message in dmesg and after a few more times it happened, I opened my PC, disassembled everything to clean the dust. Afterwards everything went okay, back to normal. Today, I experienced the problem again while playing a game and logged in through ssh to get some logs. Here's what I got:
    # dmesg

After a reboot, things are back to normal again, but I never found out the reason for this. I'm open to suggestions what might went wrong.
    Current hardware: https://www.smirky.net/info/

You're not alone on this it seems, a quick search lead me to an older thread on nVidia forums where several users are complaining about it and links to other threads. Some say that changing minimal powermizer state from 0 to 1 solved it for them (see last post of the thread).
There is also this, and to be honest, it reminds me of random blackscreens I was getting on my 8600m GT and a 260GTX until the screen stayed black not even showing the BIOS screen (PC still booted fine though). In the end I solved it by "baking" my GPUs to re-solder the chip to the mainboard. Both continued to work fine since then. The 8600m GT runs on arch now as you can see from my signature, and no problems with it so far.
May I also add I find the error message sounds hilarious.
    edit: found this.

  • [SOLVED]suspend fails NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus

    Hi All,
After a update of my laptop, it does not fully wakes after going into suspend. It does not react to numlock anymore.  I have to push the power button for 10 seconds to shut it down.

I did a quick google search. This page suggested that I set my videocard in persistend mode:
    http://scientificlinuxforum.org/index.p … topic=1469
    So i did the following:
    ]# /usr/bin/nvidia-smi -pm 1
Enabled persistence mode for GPU 0000:01:00.0.
    All done.
    # /usr/bin/nvidia-smi -q

This did not solve the issue. The laptop goes into suspend (the power LED starts blinking), but when the power button is then briefly pressed, the machine does power-up, but after hearing 2 clicks from the speaker, i get a black screen, a full-running CPU fan, and no reaction to numlock.

  • Bottom of ipod has fallen off

The bottom of ipod , where connector for charging is , has simply fallen off. Can you get this replaced? If so can it be done under warranty.
The system was bought in USA 10 months ago however I live in UK.
I still have the receipt of purchase.
    Thanks

This has happened to me a couple of times. Can you just snap it back in? That's all I had to do for mine.

  • Curve 8520 - lock/ mute/ pause button has fallen off

The lock button on my phone has just come off, is there any other way I can lock my phone or will I have to repair the button (AGAIN!)?
This is the third time its fallen off due to general wear and tear and its beginning to get a little annoying, it would be great if the lock settings could be changed but I'm beginning to think this is unlikely
    Thanks,

I've been looking for weeks on Ebay and such sites to see if they have the buttons but they don't seem to sell them anywhere. Please could you tell me where you got yours repaired at?
    Hi AmyLodge
    Welcome to the Community
Keyboard comes as one piece and you can't find buttons separately ,so you have to buy the whole keyboard. If you are unable to get it in ebay then try amazon.com, there I think you may get it.

  • Arrow Key Keeps Popping Off

Hello, recently my right arrow key on my Macbook popped off while typing. I tried to just snap it back in, which seemed to work, but whenever I touch the right half of the key it comes back off again. Any suggestions before taking it to Apple?

No suggestions other than to take it to the local Apple Store. I had a similar problem when I first got my MacBook, and the Genius replaced my key from a pile of them "in the back." Took about 8 seconds. Good luck!

  • Mid 2011 macbook air. command key has popped off and is now missing the 2nd metal bar. can this be replaced?

The command key popped off my mid 2011 macbook air. It is meant to have two metal bars but can't find the 2nd one. I have clicked it back into place but if I press the button at the bottom the top pops up and I'm worried that if I don't fix the problem I may end up losing the key altogether!
Can you buy replacement metal bars? should I just remove the other bar completely?
    Thanks in advance.

Sorry, must have been the crackpipe I smoked last night! LOL
You won't see anything in the Application Support --> Bootcamp folder unless you have previously downloaded the Windows Support Software. Good find.
    ADDENDUM STEP:
This step should be placed between 9-10.
Open Bootcamp Assistant. Uncheck everything BUT, "DOWNLOAD THE LATEST WINDOWS SUPPORT SOFTWARE FROM APPLE". You will be prompted to burn the image to a CD/DVD or save to a USB Key. Save the image to a USB key. This will format your USB key properly in preparation for the files. The download commences and if you're lucky, the files will simply be saved to your USB key without having to manually copy them over to the key using the steps above.
IMPORTANT - Even if the support software hangs when its being saved to the USB key, you should now be able to navigate to the directory and see the image. Follow the steps above.
    Apologies for missing this.

  • Left command key has broken off - how to replace?

So a few days ago I caught my left command key with my nail and the top half of it lifted away from the mechanism underneath. I pressed it until I heard it click back into place and then merrily continued using my computer as usual. Today I was typing and the whole thing just came off under my thumb, which is annoying to say the least.
The biggest issue is that as I was trying to reconnect key to mechanism, the little criss-cross doohickey came off as well! I am left with a little silicon nipple which, while titilating, is not really conducive to the kind of high volume typing I'm used to!
I really don't want to pay 40 bucks to get Apple Support to replace a single key for me - I just need to know how to do it myself. It's only one key and I could probably learn to get used to using the right one, but it would be easier if I could just click it back into place. It's not broken, the mechanism itself seems fine and the key works if I push the little nubbin, so I'm not concerned about that. I just think $40 is too much to pay someone to click a key back into place! I wasn't even doing anything out of the ordinary with it like trying to remove or replace the keys T^T
I'm especially gutted since I just bought a new iPhone from the same Apple shop I bought my laptop like three days ago - if I'd known my laptop was gonna bust I'd have saved myself the money and spent it on repairs instead! Fml, right?
Any help you folks can offer would be very gratefully received - if it comes down to it and I have to fork out the money then I'll do so, but I'd like to explore community options first on the off chance that someone knows how to replace the mechanism and key without having to lug my computer all the way into the city to get it fixed xD
    Thanks in advance!
    Ehryn

It's pretty easy to do, get something thin like a credit card and run it along the bottom and sides of the keyboard and there are several bracket things that will pop the keyboard up when you pressure them. There will be a couple of cables to clip out behind it so lift it up gently.
You should be able to find a video on youtube anyway!
Try this site for the keyboard http://www.replacementlaptopkeys.com/toshiba_qosmio_laptop_key.html
It shouldn't be too hard to track a replacement down.

  • How to reattach one of the rubber feet which has fallen off?

    Hi,
One of the little black rounded rubbery feet on the base of my MacBook Pro has become unstuck. By what means can I safely reattach does anyone know - with regular glue or some sort of special electronic-friendly glue or..?
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
Any "regular" glue should do, unless you need some extra-strength resistance to friction (some people like to drag their computer around their desk rather than pick it up). Make sure you put the small rubber gizmo in the right position (with the previously glued end up), or the glue on the apparent end will stick to any surface you put your machine on, and the foot will come unglued once more...

  • Macbook Pro Down Arrow key fell off.

Macbook Pro Down Arrow key fell off. Any DIY, or does it have to go to the store? I'm fairly certain the local MacAuthority has a fix, but i'd like to get it done now. I saw a 30 minute long youtube video about it, but he doesn't mention the arrow keys. The only thing similar is the small function keys. And I don't think it's the same mechanism.

    Hello brooklinekilla,
I would be concerned too the up arrow key on my keyboard was not working.  I found an article that can assist with further isolating and troubleshooting issues with the built in keyboard.  I recommend following the steps under the section titled, "Some keys don't work as expected" in the following article:
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond

  • How to select multiple cells on a spreadsheet (online diary) without click and drag or shift and arrow keys as iPad has neither :(

Hey guys really annoyed as I got my I pad with main reason of being able to update my online diary which is basically a spreadsheet, but I can't select more than one cell to book out a time slot, dragging just tees up the copy function and without arrow keys cannot shift and highlight, coming from windows wandering if this function is done another way on macs?  Any help would be appreciated as I'm thinking only way is to get the wireless keyboard which has arrow keys but kind of defeats the point of iPad.
    Thanks in advance ;)

I guess I should state how much of a newbie I am.
I did take a summer Java course at a community college this summer and I have some other programming experience (mostly Matlab).
The course covered a lot of the language but it wasn't exhaustive. We covered (in no particular order) Arrays, Interfaces, overloading, inheritance, loops, actionlisteners, Layout managers, exceptions (a little) One thing that we really didn't get into were packages.
We did some GUI design, but not a whole lot.
The programming that I do with Matlab is very similar to C. (i.e. highly procedural not Object Oriented) so I think that's where some of my stumbling blocks are. I feel pretty comfortable reading Java code and using the API (sort of) but I didn't even know that 2D intersections existed.
I have just started using eclipse last week. My previous coding was just done with textpad, so I am trying to get used to compiling code and building projects (and .jars) with an IDE.
Thank you for the tips. I am going to keep looking around and see what I can find.
