Arrow keys anyone???

Where are the arrow keys on the IPAD keyboard?

The actual answer is that there are no arrow keys that allow you to move up, down, left or right when typing with the iPad keyboard. There are keyboards that you can buy to use with your iPad that may offer that function to you.
You can search the web for iPad compatible keyboards that you can purchase.
But the other posters make sense in that you can position the cursor wherever you want with a touch of your finger. It works much better when you zoom in so that you can make the text and the spaces in between words and letters much larger.

    Hi,
    Did you find a way to solve your problem ? We have exactly the same for one application and we are using the same version of HFM : 11.1.2.1.
    This problem is only about webforms. We can correctly input data through Data Grids or Client 32.
    Thank you in advance for your answer.

  • Sometimes my arrow keys stop working in Firefox; has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on what could be causing this?

    Fairly often when I'm using Firefox I'll suddenly find that the arrow keys have stopped working. I could be typing something in a text box and using the arrow keys to navigate the cursor, or I could be using the arrow keys to scroll a page up / down, or anything else, or trying to arrow down through the menu bar selection. It doesn't matter; the arrow keys are completely ignored everywhere within the Firefox program -- except for one case: If I press and hold an arrow key long enough for the auto-key-repeat to kick in, then the arrow key will be recognized and the appropriate response will be performed -- but only rapid-fire, and only for as long as I hold down the arrow key.
    When this problem occurs, it's only within Firefox. When I switch over to any other programs that happen to be running, the arrow keys behave normally.
    The problem happens often, but not necessarily every time I run Firefox.

    I'm having the same problem. I tentatively blame the Adobe Reader plugin. In the current browsing session, the problem occurred when I opened a PDF. As soon as I disabled the Adobe Reader plugin, it went away. I've disabled the plugin and I'll see how things go. I'm running FF7.0.1 on WinXP SP3 with Adobe Reader 10.1.1.33. (I can confirm I'm not accidentally enabling Caret Browsing.)

  • Some of the shortcut keys and directional keys on the keyboard are not working in FF 4 RC1 (i.e. Tab, Ctrl+C, arrow keys). They work fin in FF 3.6x and other applications.

    Crtl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+X, Tab, and arrow keys do not work at all in FF4.0b13 and later. I am not sure about earlier versions as this is the first version I have tried.

    I found this helpful article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1381) and worked my way through the section "Some keys don't work as expected".
    All the following functions/settings are disabled or turned off:
    Text to speech / Speak selected text when the key is pressed
    Slow Keys
    Mouse Keys.
    The keyboard viewer just confirms my list of keys that are not working.
    Starting in safe mode makes no difference; nor does booting from the Mac OS X Install Disc and running Terminal from the Utilities menu. The same keys as before fail to work.
    This seems to confirm that it's a hardware issue. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Arrow keys - up, down, left right - not working in Safari 2.0.4 (419.3)

    Hello all - need some help as my arrows keys in Safari have ceased working - can't scroll up or down using them and wondering why. Yes, they do work in all other app's, Yes I have deleted pref files for Safari, done most common maintenace and yes I have searched extensively for any help online.
    I did install the beta for Safari 3, and then promptly uninstalled, leaving me as I am and have been for a few days without working arrow keys.
    Any help out there is most appreciated

    hmmmm...no help, no replies.....
    ......thanks everyone!
    Hi Michael.
    I read your question when you first posted and had absolutely no idea why this problem would occur. So I didn't respond.
    I'd guess that's the same with everyone else who came across your question. People aren't ignoring you purposefully - they just don't know the answer or have any ideas to troubleshoot this problem.
    Of course, that could change. You only posted two days ago, and there's a chance that in this user-to-user forum, where all people who help are volunteering their time, anyone who happens to have an idea of why this problem is occurring just hasn't come across your question yet.

  • My arrow keys start start repeating without touching them and a string of periods are displayed in an entry field (e.g. credential to log in). Or if I type an arrow key, they immediately start repeating in perpituity. It's like a ghost in the machine.

    After the last OS X update (a security update I think), two things happened:
    my iMac would not boot (gray screen) or if it did boot, the mouse wasn't recognized and I couldn't mouse to the PW field to log in - nor did tabbing or any keystrokes get me there. I fixed this by unpludding peripherals (back up drive), but know I can't boot unless they are unplugged and it makes using TimeMachine a pain in the arse.
    My wired, extended mac keyboard now types without me, primarily, as far as I can tell, the arrow key(s). .................................... So, for example, those periods you see here are because I touched the right arrow key and off it went until I pressed ESC. Also, sometimes they just start going off on their own. For example, I can be in sleep mode and all of a sudden the screen will wake and the PW field will start filling with periods, just like you see above. ***?
    Seriously, you would think that apple would have a response for this. I have searched their support site and NOTHING. I've seen some older threads on reseting certain things. Does anyone have any summer 2013 updates?
    Thank You!!!

    kaeandcolesmon,
    If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
    To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.
    See:
    Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection tab. Make sure the D drive partition is set to OFF so that it does not save there.

  • Up and down arrow keys do not work

    Hi Guys...I need your help...
    Since my arrow keys (only up and down) do not work anymore on my iMac (Mac OS X 10.4.11)...No matter in which application...
    I have reset the PRAM since I thought that this may solve the problem without any success...does anyone have an idea how to resolve this problem?
    Have I maybe pressed any shortcut by mistake, which can lock these keys?? It is a pain to work without these 2 keys
    Thanks in advance for the help

  • After zooming in on an object using arrow keys to nudge, it crashes most of the time

    After zooming in on an object, using arrow keys to nudge, it crashes most of the time.
    Versions:
    Illustrator CS6, latest update
    Mac OS X 10.9.4
    FontAgent Pro 6.2
    Troubleshooting I've tried
    -trashed all related Illus. preferences
    -updated the only plug-in being used (FontAgent Pro), to the latest
    -disabled all but absolutely necessary fonts
    -repaired both system and user permissions
    -quit all other apps, so that only Illus. running.
    -fonts verified
    Was never a problem until a couple weeks ago, so the obvious question is "what changed?".  The two things we changed in the time period that the crashing started, is we replaced a balky external drive with a new one, and started our TimeMachine backups over again. And #2, we updated to the latest CS6 versions (due to other quirky issues).
    One odd thing to point out...perhaps is "normal", but in the crash reports, it's reporting that Illustrator is 16.0.0, but "About Illustrator" shows that it's 16.2.2.
    Everything else running fine on this iMac -- no reason to suspect it's the operating system.
    Has anyone run into this bug? If so, what have you done to fix this?
    I've not seen anything like this mentioned in Adobe's update change logs or their troubleshooting info.

    -> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> select "Navigation Toolbar"
    -> go to View Menu -> Zoom -> click "Reset"
    -> go to View Menu -> Page Style -> select "Basic Page Style"
    -> go Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> Time range to clear: select EVERYTHING -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on ALL Options -> click "Clear Now"
    -> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
    Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE any Unwanted/Suspicious Extension (add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
    You can enable the Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

  • Sticky arrow keys on T510 all of a sudden?

    Hi
    Out of nowhere my Arrow keys and the two keys next to the up arrow have become very sticky.  By this, I mean they dont press as smoothly and freely as they did, and they take much longer to return to completely unpressed.  They feel spongy!  they do work, but feel horrible.
    I recently took out the keyboard to get to the wifi card, this is the only time I can think of anything happening.  But I have taken out the keyboard and checked again its all in the right place.  I blew some compressed air under the keys, which seemed to do the job for about 5 minutes.
    very odd, and my return key had a similar thing ealrier.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Traverse JTable cells with arrow keys?

    I want to be able to use arrow keys to travel in the matrix. But I want to restrict entering column 0. That is, the user should not be able to enter column 0, with the arrow keys (and neither using the mouse). Anyone have hints how to do this?

    Well, the problem is that I have a viewport into a big matrix. The user is able to scroll the viewport around.
    I must be able to figure out if the user is pressing the arrow buttons to go outside the viewport, because then I have to change the viewport. Somewhere, there is a class that knows the current cell that is highlighted. I must check that class to see what direction the user wants to go with the highlighted cell.
    And, also, the user is not allowed to enter column 0. If he wants to go column 0, then the viewport will be scrolled.
    So my question is, which class knows which cell is highlighted? The Jtable, probably? Which methods?

  • Advancing pages with arrow keys

    Hi, Does anyone know if there's a preference or setting in IDCS3 to advance to the next page by using the arrow keys on the keyboard? This feature is handy in Acrobat.
    Right now the only options I know are using the mouse...
    1) On the arrows at the bottom of the document window
    2) Double-clicking in the pages palette
    3) Layout > Next Page
    I'm trying to find a keyboard shortcut to rest my aching mouse hand...

    I found this thread useful but ultimately solved this another way using key binds. Maybe someone will find this useful.
    public MyDialogConstructor() {
        bindKeys();
    private void bindKeys() {
              InputMap inputMap = getJList().getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_FOCUSED);
              KeyStroke key = KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_UP, 0);
              inputMap.put(key, "jlist:UP");
              getJList().getActionMap().put("jlist:UP", new AbstractAction() {
                   private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                        if (getJList().isSelectedIndex(getJList().getFirstVisibleIndex())) {
                             getJList().setSelectedIndex(getJList().getLastVisibleIndex());
                        } else {
                             getJList().setSelectedIndex(getJList().getSelectedIndex() - 1);
              key = KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_DOWN, 0);
              inputMap.put(key, "jlist:DOWN");
              getJList().getActionMap().put("jlist:DOWN", new AbstractAction() {
                   private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                        if (getJList().isSelectedIndex(getJList().getLastVisibleIndex())) {
                             getJList().setSelectedIndex(getJList().getFirstVisibleIndex());
                        } else {
                             getJList().setSelectedIndex(getJList().getSelectedIndex() + 1);

  • VoiceOver conflict with arrow keys ??

    I have just found that VoiceOver is in conflict with the Up/Down/Left/Right Arrow keys. If it is on the four keys do not work. I tried another keyboard to check whether it was a hardware problem and exactly the same happened with VoiceOver on. Why?
    Until yesterday everything worked fine but suddenly I lost the arrow key functionality. Any ideas, anyone?
    Note: I am not referring to the number pad and its keyboard mouse keys.

    Hello Helen,
    First of all, VoiceOver makes very heavy use of arrow keys, so you are right in suspecting that this is an oddity, and not a "feature" of VoiceOver.
    I've managed to reproduce this behaviour with the following sequence:
    1) Turn VoiceOver on (Cmd-F5).
    2) Activate QuickNav (left and right arrows simultaneously).
    3) Interact with an element containing only one item, via down + right arrows.
    4) Arrow keys will only "bong". No movement possible until QuickNav turned off again. Otherwise, turning VoiceOver off will also restore the arrow keys to normal—until it's turned back on again, when it will once more get "stuck". Of course, stopping the interaction via left+down arrows also restores free movement—but with QuickNav active, only the VO cursor moves, not the focus, so that can be disconcerting when trying to navigate menus, etc.
    So the solution may be to turn VoiceOver on, then ensure QuickNav is off (left + right arrows), then VoiceOver off again.
    Hope this clears it up!

  • Arrow Keys?

    The new keyboard/mouse pane in Tiger's System Preferences now allows one to change application shortcuts. I am left-handed and wish to change the 'Back' and 'Forward' menu commands to the left and right arrow keys in selected applications. I was able to do this without problem on both my G4 Dual and Mac Mini (both with Apple external keyboards). My iBook, however, will not take the change. When I try to set the shortcut, the 'no way' bell rings. Can anyone help?

  • Arrow key not functioning

    My arrow keys are not functioning when I tried to use them to move my objects. They work fine in InDesign and Photoshop, but not responding at all in Illustrator. Anyone knows why?
    Thanks!

    Always mention the version of Illustrator & the OS you are using.
    Check if by any chance the 'Keyboard Increment' in Preferences (Ctrl/Cmd-K) is set to 0.
